针对服从二项、泊松、几何、负二项、超几何、负超几何以及对数级数分布等离散型随机变量,给出了求其高阶原点矩的一个较为简单的递推计算方法.不仅非常容易地求出这些离散型随机变量的高阶原点矩,避免了计算阶乘矩或求导等复杂的运算,而且便于学生理解.论文还给出了这些离散型随机变量的3阶和4阶原点矩的表达式.  相似文献

本文研究了具有一般独立输入,位相型修理的离散时间可修排队系统,假定服务台对顾客的服务时间和服务台寿命服从几何分布,运用矩阵解析方法我们给出系统嵌入在到达时刻的稳态队长分布和等待时间分布,并证明这些分布均为离散位相型分布.我们也得到在广义服务时间内服务台发生故障次数的分布,证明它服从一个修正的几何分布.我们对离散时间可修排队与连续时间可修排队进行了比较,说明这两种排队系统在一些性能指标方面的区别之处.最后我们通过一些数值例子说明在这类系统中顾客的到达过程、服务时间和服务台的故障率之间的关系.  相似文献

We propose a discrete version of the skew Laplace distribution. In contrast with the discrete normal distribution, here closed form expressions are available for the probability density function, the distribution function, the characteristic function, the mean, and the variance. We show that this distribution on integers shares many properties of the skew Laplace distribution on the real line, including unimodality, infinite divisibility, closure properties with respect to geometric compounding, and a maximum entropy property. We also discuss statistical issues of estimation under this model.  相似文献

The analytical concepts of infinite divisibility and (0) unimodality are fundamental to the study of probability distributions in general and to discrete distributions in particular. In this paper, a one-one correspondence is established between these two important properties which will permit any infinitely divisible discrete distribution (with finite mean value) to be transformed into a (0) unimodal discrete distribution. When this transformation is applied specifically to the geometric distribution, the result is a novel distribution, which can be fully and explicitly specified and whose factorial moments can be expressed in closed forms. This transformed geometric distribution is found to apply to underreported geometrically distributed decision processes, embedded renewal processes with logarithmically distributed components, and M/M/1 queues in which the service mechanism has been uniformly improved.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to introduce and study the concepts of discrete semi-stability and geometric semi-stability for distributions with support inZ +. We offer several properties, including characterizations, of discrete semi-stable distributions. We establish that these distributions posses the property of infinite divisibility and that their probability generating functions admit canonical representations that are analogous to those of their continuous counterparts. Properties of discrete geometric semi-stable distributions are deduced from the results obtained for discrete semi-stability. Several limit theorems are established and some examples are constructed.  相似文献

In this paper, several distributional properties and characterization theorems of the generalized multivariate Pareto distributions are studied. It is found that the multivariate Pareto distributions have many mixture properties. They are mixed either by geometric, Weibull, or exponential variables. The multivariate Pareto, MP(k)(I), MP(k)(II), and MP(k)(IV) families have closure property under finite sample minima. The MP(k)(III) family is closed under both geometric minima and geometric maxima. Through the geometric minima procedure, one characterization theorem for MP(k)(III) distribution is developed. Moreover, the MP(k)(III) distribution is proved as the limit multivariate distribution under repeated geometric minimization. Also, a characterization theorem for the homogeneous MP(k)(IV) distribution via the weighted minima among the ordered coordinates is developed. Finally, the MP(k)(II) family is shown to have the truncation invariant property.  相似文献

The forgetting of the initial distribution for discrete Hidden Markov Models (HMM) is addressed: a new set of conditions is proposed, to establish the forgetting property of the filter, at a polynomial and geometric rate. Both a pathwise-type convergence of the total variation distance of the filter started from two different initial distributions, and a convergence in expectation are considered. The results are illustrated using different HMM of interest: the dynamic tobit model, the nonlinear state space model and the stochastic volatility model.  相似文献

Consider the discrete time GI/Geo/1 queue with working vacations under EAS and LAS schemes. The server takes the original work at the lower rate rather than completely stopping during the vacation period. Using the matrix-geometric solution method, we obtain the steady-state distribution of the number of customers in the system and present the stochastic decomposition property of the queue length. Furthermore, we find and verify the closed property of conditional probability for negative binomial distributions. Using such property, we obtain the specific expression for the steady-state distribution of the waiting time and explain its two conditional stochastic decomposition structures. The main goal of this paper is to introduce new exponential families, that come from the concept of weighted distribution, that include and generalize the Poisson distribution. In these families there are distributions with index of dispersion greater than, equal to or smaller than one. This property makes them suitable to fit discrete data in overdispersion or underdispersion situations. We study the statistical properties of the families and we provide a useful interpretation of the parameters. Two classical examples are considered in order to compare the fits with some other distributions. To obtain the fits with the new family, the study of the profile log-likelihood is required.  相似文献
