Studies on Josephson samplers are reviewed. The dynamic properties of Josephson junctions used as sensitive comparators in the samplers are analyzed. A theory in terms of which the time resolution and sensitivity of Josephson comparators can be estimated is put forward, and analytical formulas for the limiting characteristics of the samplers are derived. The performance of Josephson samplers based on high-temperature superconductors is discussed. It is shown that samplers with a subpicosecond resolution and nanoampere sensitivity are a feasibility.  相似文献

The current-phase (I-?) relation of a double-barrier Josephson junction with a two-gap superconductor as intermediate electrode is derived by means of a simplified version of Ohta’s model. As in conventional double-barrier Josephson junctions, a marked skewness in the I-? curves is present. Moreover, as in heterotic Josephson devices, a reduction of the maximum Josephson current is predicted. An appropriate experiment to verify the rich behavior of this type of Josephson device is suggested.  相似文献

The Josephson current of spin-entangled electrons through the two branches of a SQUID-like structure with two quantum dots exhibits a magnetic-flux response different from the conventional Josephson current. Because of their interference, the period of maximum Josephson current changes from h/2e to h/e, which can be used for detecting the Cooper-pair splitting efficiency. The nonlocal spin entanglement provides a quantum mechanical functionale for switching on and off this novel Josephson current, and explicitly a switch is formulated by including a pilot junction. It is shown that the device can be used to measure the magnitude of split-tunneling Josephson current.  相似文献

The phase dynamics of the system of long Josephson junctions whose length exceeds the Josephson penetration depth has been studied. The possibility of the appearance of a longitudinal plasma wave and parametric resonance has been demonstrated. Both inductive and capacitive couplings between Josephson junctions have been taken into account in the calculations. The current-voltage characteristics, as well as time evolution of the spatial distribution of the electric charge in superconducting layers and the magnetic field, have been calculated in all Josephson junctions of the system. The coexistence of the longitudinal plasma wave and fluxon states has been observed in the region of parametric resonance beginning with a certain length of the Josephson junction. This indicates the appearance of a new unique collective excitation in the system of coupled Josephson junctions, namely, a composite state of the Josephson current, electric field, and vortex magnetic field.  相似文献

Mesoscopic Josephson devices, interacting with non-classical microwaves, are studied. The phase difference in Josephson's equations is a quantum mechanical operator, whose expectation value with respect to the density matrix describing the microwaves, determines the current. Dual phenomena with vortex condensates in Josephson array insulators are also considered. Dual Josephson junctions for vortices, made from two insulators separated by a weak link through which the vortices tunnel, are described by dual Josephson equations.  相似文献

The Josephson current between d-wave superconductors is investigated in the framework of the tight-binding lattice model. The junction is modeled by a small number of connecting bonds. It is found that the Josephson current through one bond vanishes when at least one of the superconductors has the (110) interface-to-crystal orientation. Interference between the nearest bonds appears to be very important. In particular, it is the interference term that leads to the nonzero Josephson current for the (110) orientation. Also, interference of two connecting bonds manifests itself in nonmonotonic behavior of the critical Josephson current in a dependence on the distance between the bonds. Recent studies on high- Tcsuperconductors aroused our new interest on the Josephson effects in anisotropic superconductors. In contrast to the conventional s-wave superconductors, there are two additional intrinsic effects originating from an internal phase of the pair potential. One is the sign change of the Josephson current depending on the direction of the motion of the Cooper pair. The other is the formation of localized states near the insulator. By taking account of these two effects, a general formula for the Josephson current is presented. Calculated results predict several anomalous properties including a strong enhancement of the Josephson current at low temperature. The influences of the spatial dependence of the pair potential on the Josephson current are also clarified.  相似文献

The dc Josephson current between co-axial cylinders is calculated for arbitrary Josephson penetration depth. The results support the interpretation of recent experiments which determined the magnetic-field dependence of the Josephson critical current density. We consider a two-level system (TLS) with energy level separation plankvOmega0 inside a Josephson junction. The junction is shunted by a resistor R and is voltage V biased. If the TLS modulates the Josephson energy and/or is optically active, it is Rabi driven by the Josephson oscillations in the running phase regime near the resonance 2eV=plankvOmega0. The Rabi oscillations, in turn, translate into oscillations of current and voltage that can be detected in noise measurements. This effect provides an option to fully characterize the TLS inside Josephson junction and to find the TLS's contribution to the decoherence when the junction is used as a qubit.  相似文献

The Josephson effect of Bose condensates with a weak link created by superposing a far-off-resonant red-detuned laser beam on a double-well potential is theoretically considered. The numerical simulations show that there would be c/ear Josephson effect for this sort of three-well system. The present work gives a feasible scheme to study a new type of weak link which is crucial to investigate experimentally the Josephson effect.  相似文献

The dc Josephson effect in a superconducting quantum point contact, where supercurrent flows through a small number of channels, is reviewed. The central role of Andreev levels is emphasized which carry the whole supercurrent in short symmetric Josephson junctions including tunnel junctions. A simple intuitive view of the dc Josephson effect in a quantum point contact is given in terms of multiple Andreev reflections. The quantization of the critical current in superconducting quantum point contacts is briefly discussed.  相似文献

The properties of Nb/??-Si/Nb planar Josephson junctions with various degrees of doping of the amorphous silicon layer are experimentally studied. Tungsten is used as a doping impurity. The properties of the Josephson junctions are shown to change substantially when the degree of doping of the ??-Si layer changes: a current transport mechanism and the shape of the current-voltage characteristic of the junctions change. Josephson junctions with SNS-type conduction are formed in the case of a fully degenerate ??-Si layer. The properties of such junctions are described by a classical resistive model. Josephson junctions with a resonance mechanism of current transport through impurity centers are formed at a lower degree of doping of the ??-Si layer. The high-frequency properties of such junctions are shown to change. The experimental results demonstrate that these junctions are close to SINIS-type Josephson junctions.  相似文献

We numerically investigate Josephson vortex flow states in layered high-T(c) superconductors motivated by a recent experimental observation for accurate periodic magnetic field dependences of the Josephson vortex flow resistance over a wide range of magnetic field (0.5-4.0 T). We confirm in our mesoscale simulations that dynamical matching of Josephson vortex lattice with sample edge is responsible for the periodic dependence. The present simulations reveal that the Josephson vortex lattice flow speed is particularly suppressed when the moment of vortex entry matches that of vortex escape. Thus, the possible matching situations are taken into account and the observed periodicity is successfully explained.  相似文献

A planar Josephson junction is used as a detector for the radiation emitted by a long Josephson junction oscillator dc-biased on a zero-field singularity. Fractional Josephson vortices carry a magnetic flux Phi, which is a fraction of the magnetic flux quantum Phi(0) approximately 2.07 x 10(-15) Wb. Their properties are very different from the properties of the usual integer fluxons. In particular, fractional vortices in 0-kappa Josephson junctions are pinned and have an oscillation eigenfrequency which is expected to be within the Josephson plasma gap. Using microwave spectroscopy, we investigate the dependence of the eigenfrequency of a fractional Josephson vortex on its magnetic flux Phi and on the bias current. The experimental results are in good agreement with the theory.  相似文献
