The acylation of 2,3-benzo-18-crown-6 with carboxylic acids in the presence of polyphosphoric acid has given new acyl derivatives which have been reduced to the corresponding alkyl derivatives. The presowing irradiation of cotton seeds with pulses of concentrated light (PCL) causes a change in a number of indices of the oil. When the seeds are stored, oxidative processes in them are intensified. The difference-perturbation absorption spectra of monoiodotyrosine, diiodotyrosine, triiodothyronine, and thyroxine with low- and high-molecular-mass polyethyleneglycols as perturbants have been measured and characterized. The intrinsic fluorescence of cytotoxin VC1 and VC5 from the venom of the Central Asian cobra due to the tyrosine residues and differing with respect to quantum yield for these two polypeptides because of the nonidentity of the microenvironments of the tyrosyl residues has been measured and characterized. The ionophoric properties of the di-sec-butyl derivatives of dibenzo-18-crown-6 have been studied in natural and model membranes. It has been shown that the di-sec-butyl substituents in the benzene rings of dibenzo-18-crown-6 impart to the cyclopolyether the properties of an ionophore for magnesium.
