We investigate some nonlinear coupled dispersionless evolution equations (NLCDEE) modelling the dynamics of a current-fed string within an external magnetic field in 2D-space. Using a blend of transformations of independent variables, we derive from the previous equations a Schäfer-Wayne short pulse equation (SWSPE). By means of a transformation back to the original independent variables, we find the N-loop soliton solution to the coupled equations. We give some detail on the scattering behavior of two-loop solitons.  相似文献

We investigate the dynamical behavior of finite rings of classical spin vectors interacting via nearest-neighbor isotropic exchange in an external magnetic field. Our approach is to utilize the solutions of a continuum version of the discrete spin equations of motion (EOM) which we derive by assuming continuous modulations of spin wave solutions of the EOM for discrete spins. This continuum EOM reduces to the Landau-Lifshitz equation in a particular limiting regime. The usefulness of the continuum EOM is demonstrated by the fact that the time-evolved numerical solutions of the discrete spin EOM closely track the corresponding time-evolved solutions of the continuum equation. It is of special interest that our continuum EOM possesses soliton solutions, and we find that these characteristics are also exhibited by the corresponding solutions of the discrete EOM. The robustness of solitons is demonstrated by considering cases where initial states are truncated versions of soliton states and by numerical simulations of the discrete EOM equations when the spins are coupled to a heat bath at finite temperatures.  相似文献

Differential-difference equations are considered to be hybrid systems because the spatial variable n is discrete while the time t is usually kept continuous.Although a considerable amount of research has been carried out in the field of nonlinear differential-difference equations, the majority of the results deal with polynomial types.Limited research has been reported regarding such equations of rational type.In this paper we present an adaptation of the(G /G)-expansion method to solve nonlinear rational differential-difference equations. The procedure is demonstrated using two distinct equations. Our approach allows one to construct three types of exact traveling wave solutions(hyperbolic, trigonometric, and rational) by means of the simplified form of the auxiliary equation method with reduced parameters. Our analysis leads to analytic solutions in terms of topological solitons and singular periodic functions as well.  相似文献

Assuming that the nucleus can be treated as a perfect fluid we study the conditions for the formation and propagation of Korteweg–de Vries (KdV) solitons in nuclear matter. The KdV equation is obtained from the Euler and continuity equations in nonrelativistic hydrodynamics. The existence of these solitons depends on the nuclear equation of state, which, in our approach, comes from well-known relativistic mean field models. We reexamine early works on nuclear solitons, replacing the old equations of state by new ones, based on QHD and on its variants. Our analysis suggests that KdV solitons may indeed be formed in the nucleus with a width which, in some cases, can be smaller than one Fermi.  相似文献

We develop a complete mathematical theory for the symmetrical solutions of the generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation based on the concept of angular pseudomomentum. We consider the symmetric solitons of a generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a nonlinearity depending on the modulus of the field. We provide a rigorous proof of a set of mathematical results justifying that these solitons can be classified according to the irreducible representations of a discrete group. Then we extend this theory to non-stationary solutions and study the relationship between angular momentum and pseudomomentum. We illustrate these theoretical results with numerical examples.  相似文献

We study the collision of two fast solitons for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation in the presence of a slowly varying external potential. For a high initial relative speed ||v|| of the solitons, we show that, up to times of order ||v|| after the collision, the solitons preserve their shape (in L 2-norm), and the dynamics of the centers of mass of the solitons is approximately determined by the external potential, plus error terms due to radiation damping and the extended nature of the solitons. We remark on how to obtain longer time scales under stronger assumptions on the initial condition and the external potential.  相似文献

In this Letter we study the integrability of a class of Gross-Pitaevskii equations managed by Feshbach resonance in an expulsive parabolic external potential. By using WTC test, we find a condition under which the Gross-Pitaevskii equation is completely integrable. Under the present model, this integrability condition is completely consistent with that proposed by Serkin, Hasegawa, and Belyaeva [V.N. Serkin, A. Hasegawa, T.L. Belyaeva, Phys. Rev. Lett. 98 (2007) 074102]. Furthermore, this integrability can also be explicitly shown by a transformation, which can convert the Gross-Pitaevskii equation into the well-known standard nonlinear Schrödinger equation. By this transformation, each exact solution of the standard nonlinear Schrödinger equation can be converted into that of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation, which builds a systematical connection between the canonical solitons and the so-called nonautonomous ones. The finding of this transformation has a significant contribution to understanding the essential properties of the nonautonomous solitons and the dynamics of the Bose-Einstein condensates by using the Feshbach resonance technique.  相似文献

Two coupled dark solitons are considered in a two-component Bose-Einstein condensate, and their dynamics are investigated by the variational approach based the renormalized integrals of motion. The stationary states as physical solutions to the describing equations are obtained, and the dynamic mechanism is demonstrated by performing a coordinate of a classical particle moving in an effective potential field. The switching and selftrapping dynamics of the coupled dark vector solitons are discussed by the evolution of the atom population transferring ratio.  相似文献

We show by using the real exponential approach that the d-dimensional discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equation has more general dispersionless envelope lattice soliton solutions than the known bright soliton and kink solutions. Depending on the values of the parameters, the new solutions can describe both bright and dark lattice solitons. Especially, we find novel “W”-like envelope lattice solitons.  相似文献

Burgers-type equations can describe some phenomena in fluids, plasmas, gas dynamics, traffic, etc. In this paper,an integrable hierarchy covering the lattice Burgers equation is derived from a discrete spectral problem.N-fold Darboux transformation(DT) and conservation laws for the lattice Burgers equation are constructed based on its Lax pair.N-soliton solutions in the form of Vandermonde-like determinant are derived via the resulting DT with symbolic computation, structures of which are shown graphically.Coexistence of the elastic-inelastic interaction among the three solitons is firstly reported for the lattice Burgers equation, even if the similar phenomenon for certern continuous systems is known. Results in this paper might be helpful for understanding some ecological problems describing the evolution of competing species and the propagation of nonlinear waves in fluids.  相似文献

Discrete solitons and breathers with dilute Bose-Einstein condensates   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5
We study the dynamical phase diagram of a dilute Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) trapped in a periodic potential. The dynamics is governed by a discrete nonlinear Schr?dinger equation: intrinsically localized excitations, including discrete solitons and breathers, can be created even if the BEC's interatomic potential is repulsive. Furthermore, we analyze the Anderson-Kasevich experiment [Science 282, 1686 (1998)], pointing out that mean field effects lead to a coherent destruction of the interwell Bloch oscillations.  相似文献
