Photocatalytic activities of anodized TiO2 films for decomposition of gaseous acetaldehyde were investigated. The anodized TiO2 films were fabricated by galvanostatic anodization in a mixed electrolyte composed of H2SO4, H3PO4, and H2O2. Pre-nitridation treatment effectively enhanced the photocatalytic activity of the anodized TiO2 films. The electrolysis parameters such as anodization time, current density, electrolyte temperature, and electrolyte composition significantly affected the photocatalytic activity of the anodized TiO2 films. The improvement of photocatalytic activity of the anodized films is attributed to increase in surface areas of the anodized specimens.  相似文献

Well-ordered TiO 2 nanotube arrays (TNAs) were fabricated by electrochemical anodization in a mixed organic electrolyte consisting of ethylene glycol and glycerol. The morphology, structure, crystalline phase, and photocatalytic properties of TNAs were characterized by using TEM, SEM, XRD and photodegradation of methylene blue. It was found that the morphology and structure of TNAs could be significantly influenced by the anodization time and applied voltage. The obtained tube length was found to be proportional to anodization time, and the calculated growth rate of nanotubes was 0.6 m/h. The microstructure analysis demonstrated that the diameter and thickness of the nanotubes increased with the increase of anodization voltage. The growth mechanism of TNAs was also proposed according to the observed relationship between current density and time during anodization. As expected, the obtained TNAs showed a higher photocatalytic activity than the commercial TiO 2 P25 nanoparticles.  相似文献

Self-organized nanotube arrays of TiO2 have been grown from titanium (Ti) thin films deposited on p-type Si(1 0 0) substrates. Structural and morphological characterizations carried out by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microcopy indicate that the sputtered crystalline Ti thin films used for subsequent anodization are hexagonally closed packed (hcp-Ti) and show a columnar morphology. Electrochemical anodization of the Ti films was carried out by potentiostatic experiments in 1 M H3PO4 + 1 M NaOH + 0.5 wt% HF electrolyte at room temperature. The TiO2 nanotubes on a semiconductor substrate have an average tube length of approximately 560 nm, diameter in the order of 80 nm and wall thickness approximately 20 nm.  相似文献

In this study, the characterization and photocatalytic activity of TiO2 nanotube arrays prepared by anodization process with starch addition were investigated in detail. The results suggested that the optimum mass fraction of starch added in anodization process was 0.1%, with which TiO2 nanotube arrays owning good tubular structure were synthesized. The tube length and average inner diameter of nanotubes were approximately 4 μm and 30 nm, respectively. Through the characterization of TiO2 nanotube arrays by energy dispersive spectrometer, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X‐ray diffraction, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, it was found that the as‐prepared nanotubes possessed well uniformed and higher photodegradation responsive than the pure TiO2. Moreover, it was expected that the as‐prepared nanotubes exhibited good photocatalytic activity for the degradation of RhB under UV‐light irradiation, which could be ascribed to their good morphology, enhanced UV‐light absorption property and electron transmission ability during the photocatalytic reaction. In addition, the nanotubes were not significantly regenerated during the cycling runs experiment. Overall, this study could provide a principle method to synthesize TiO2 nanotube arrays with enhanced photocatalytic activity by anodization process with starch addition for environmental purification.  相似文献

TiO2 thin films were deposited on ITO/Glass substrates by the rf magnetron sputtering in this study. The electrochromic properties of TiO2 films were investigated using cyclic voltammograms (CV), which were carried out on TiO2 films immersed in an electrolyte of 1 M LiClO4 in propylene carbonate (PC). As- deposited TiO2 thin film was amorphous, while the films post-annealed at 300~600°C contained crystallized anatase and rutile. With the increase of the annealing temperature, the surface roughness of film increased from 1.232 nm to 1.950 nm. Experimental results reveal that the processing parameters of TiO2 thin films will influence the electrochromic properties such as transmittance, ion-storage capacity, inserted charge, optical density change, coloration efficiency and insertion coefficient.  相似文献

In the present work, we have investigated the formation of nanostructured oxide layers by anodic oxidation on different surface finished (mirror finished, 600 and 400 grit polished) nickel–titanium alloy (Ni–Ti) in electrolyte solution containing ethylene glycol and NH4F. The anodized surface has been characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The corrosion behaviors of the Ni–Ti substrate and anodized samples have been investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic polarization in simulated body fluid (Hanks' solution). The results show that the native oxide on the substrate is replaced by nanostructures through anodization process. XPS of Ni–Ti substrate shows the presence of Ni0, NiO, Ti0 and TiO2 species, whereas Ni2O3 and Ni(OH)2 and TiO2 are observed in the samples after anodization. Corrosion resistance of the anodized sample is comparable with that of the untreated sample. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Highly ordered TiO2 nanotube arrays were fabricated on a conducting glass substrate in NH4HF2/glycol electrolyte via anodization of titanium film which was deposited by direct current magnetron sputtering (DCMS) at different temperatures. The results showed that Ti films with good homogeneity and high denseness could be formed under the conditions Ar pressure 0.35 Pa, direct current 3.5 A, and 2 h at 300 °C. Characterization of the TiO2 nanotube arrays was investigated comparatively, by altering anodization time. The surface morphology of the samples changed as the anodization time was prolonged from 10 to 150 min at 30 V. The TiO2 thin film was amorphous and could be transformed into anatase by annealing at 450 °C. On the basis of UV?Cvisible transmission spectra the bandgap of the thin film was calculated to be 3.12 eV, and its tail extended to 2.6 eV.  相似文献

Stable sols of TiO2 were synthesized by a non-aqueous sol–gel process using titanium (IV) isopropoxide as precursor. The microstructure, optical and morphological properties of the films obtained by spin-coating from the sol, and annealed at different temperatures, were investigated using scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and ellipsometry. The crystalline structure of the films was characterized by X-ray diffraction and their photocatalytic activity was evaluated for the oxidation of ethanol in air. The influence of the calcination temperature, pre-heat treatment and the number of layers was studied. Simultaneous thermo-gravimetric and differential thermal analysis measurements were carried out to ascertain the thermal decomposition behavior of the precursors. In order to obtain a higher photoresponse in the visible region, a series of vanadium-, niobium- and tantalum-doped TiO2 catalysts was synthesized by the same sol–gel method. For V doping two different precursors, a vanadium alkoxide and V2O5, were used. The effect on the crystallization and photocatalytic activity of the doped TiO2 films was investigated. Furthermore, to identify the effective composition of the samples, they were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and the surface area of the powders was measured by N2 adsorption. The 10 wt.% doped catalysts exhibit high photocatalytic activity under visible light and among them the best performance was obtained for the sample containing Ta as dopant. The crystallite sizes are closely related to the photocatalytic activity.  相似文献

In this work we investigate influence of an externally applied bias on the photocatalytic performance of self-organized TiO2 nanotube layers. These layers were grown by anodization of titanium in fluoride containing electrolytes and have different geometric dimensions. Since the layers are grown directly on the Ti substrate, a very good electrical backside contact is directly provided. Therefore, we use the nanotube layers/Ti structures as photo-anodes for the UV light induced photocatalytic decomposition of acid orange 7. For comparison, we use TiO2 nanopowder (Degussa P25) compacted also on a Ti sheet. The present results demonstrate that the photocatalytic activity of self-organized TiO2 nanotube layers can significantly be increased by electrochemical bias.  相似文献

Fluorine-doped TiO2 thin films featuring columnar structure were prepared on fluorine-doped tin oxide (SnO2:F) substrate using a sol–gel method. The F doping ratios were varied in the range of 0–8 %. The effect of [F]/[Ti + F] ratio on the structural, morphological, optical, photocatalytic and low-emissivity properties has been investigated in detail. X-ray diffraction studies revealed that all the composited films are mainly composed of anatase TiO2 and rutile SnO2 without other phases. The prepared TiO2:F films possessed the columnar morphology with the single layer thickness ranging from 28 to 31 nm. The best photocatalytic activity was obtained for the films with 4 % F doping ratio which is mainly attributed to the highest crystallization and crystallite size. The transmission and hemispherical emissivity of the composite films could still reach approximately 70 % and 0.20, which match the requirements of the Chinese National Standard (GB/T18915.2-2002), promoting the films for the practical applications.  相似文献

Conventional growth of anodic TiO2 nanotubes with length of several 10 μm typically leads to an irregular outermost surface due to chemical etching of the oxide tubes during extended exposure to a fluoride containing electrolyte. This results in an undesired and undefined morphology with a bundled “nanograss” appearance at the tube top. In the present work, we demonstrate a simple approach how to prevent this effect. On optimally pretreated surfaces thin rutile-type oxide layers can be formed in the initial stage of anodization. These layers can in the subsequent tube growth process efficiently protect the tube tops and thus allow the growth of nanotube layers with highly ordered and defined morphology. This improved disorder- and “nanograss”-free tubes show significantly increased photocurrents and conversion efficiencies in dye-sensitized solar cells.  相似文献

Self-organized TiO2 nanotube arrays with micro-scale length were prepared on fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) conducting glass in NH4F/glycerol electrolyte by electrochemical anodization of pure titanium films deposited by radio frequency magnetron sputtering (RFMS) at room temperature. The samples were characterized by means of field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and photoelectrochemistry methods. The results showed that Ti films prepared at the condition of Ar pressure 0.5 Pa, power 150 W, and 0.5 h at room temperature possessed the zone T model structure with good homogeneity and high denseness. When the anodization time was prolonged from 1 to 3 h at the voltage of 30 V, the pore diameter of TiO2 nanotubes increased from 50 to 75 nm, and the length increased from 750 to 1100 nm and then gradually decreased to 800 nm, while their wall morphology changed from smooth to rough. Also with increasing the anodization voltage, the pore diameter became larger, and the remaining oxide layer reduced, which could be easily removed by ultrasonic-chemical cleaning in 0.05% (w, mass fraction) diluted HF solution. Moreover, the photocurrent response curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) results indicated that UV-illumination clearly enhanced the effective separation of the electron-hole pairs and the crystallized electrodes from the annealing treatment of as-anodized electrodes at 450 °C exhibited a better photoelectrochemical performance.  相似文献

This research work presents the efficiency of the TiO2 and Ag–TiO2 thin films prepared by the sol–gel method and coated onto the surface of 304 stainless steel sheets used in the photocatalytic nitrate reduction processes. The Ag–TiO2 thin films had the weight by weight (w/w) ratio of Ag+/TiO2 of 0.1% as Ag atom. The XRD results showed that the crystalline phase structure of TiO2 on the Ag–TiO2 thin films was anatase. The optical band gaps of the TiO2 and 0.1% Ag–TiO2 thin films were respectively 3.27 and 2.70 eV, while the surface of the prepared catalysts was hydrophobic with the respective average water contact angles of 94.8° and 118.5° for the TiO2 and 0.1% Ag–TiO2 thin films. The net efficiencies of photocatalytic nitrate reduction of TiO2 and 0.1% Ag–TiO2 were 41.4% and 70.0%, respectively. The loading of Ag only influenced the nitrate removal efficiency without affecting the stoichiometric ratio of formate to nitrate. The net stoichiometric ratio of formate to nitrate of all experiments was 2.8:1.0, which is close to the stoichiometric ratio of 2.5:1.0 of the nitrate reduction to nitrite and then to nitrogen gas.  相似文献

Thin sol–gel TiO2 layers deposited on the conductive ITO glass by means of three various deposition techniques (dip-coating, inkjet printing and spray-coating) were used as photoanode in the three-compartment electrochemical cell. The thin TiO2 films were treated at 450 °C and after calcination all samples possessed the crystallographic form of anatase. The relationship between surface structure and photo-induced conductivity of the nanostructured layers was investigated. It was found that the used deposition method significantly influenced the structural properties of prepared layers; mainly, the formation of defects and their quantity in the prepared films. The surface properties of the calcined layers were determined by XRD, Raman spectroscopy, SEM, AFM, UV–Vis analyses and by the optical microscopy. The photo-induced properties of nanoparticulate TiO2/ITO photoanode were studied by electrochemical measurements combined with UV irradiation.  相似文献

In the present work, different intrinsic and extrinsic parameters are investigated that affect the photocatalytic activity of self-organized TiO2 nanotube layers. Particularly, the influence of annealing temperature and annealing atmosphere, the influence of different gas purging in the electrolyte, and the effect of applied voltage on the photocatalytic degradation rates of acid orange (AO7) are discussed. We find that the effect of the reducing gas atmosphere dominates over the anatase/rutile ratio in activating the nanotube layers. Moreover, we show that the effect of different gas purging (Ar and O2) of the electrolyte affects the reaction rate twofold: (1) by providing electron acceptor states and also by (2) a different change in the red–ox potential, i.e., the band bending in TiO2. By an external anodic voltage, the reaction rates can be increased drastically due to increased band bending. Nevertheless, the magnitude of the effect is also affected by the presence or absence of O2 in the electrolyte.  相似文献

The present work studies the effect of hydrodynamic conditions on the growth of anodic TiO2 nanostructures on Ti in a glycerol/water/NH4F electrolyte. Parameter screening for fluoride content, anodization voltage and rotation rate (Reynolds number) of a rotating anode showed that two distinctly different TiO2 morphologies could be obtained: the classic ordered nanotubes or a nanoscale sponge layer. We present conditions for TiO2 sponge formation and growth to several micrometers of thickness, and show that in specific cases sponge layers can be superior to tube morphologies, as illustrated for photoelectrochemical water-splitting under standard AM 1.5 conditions.  相似文献

Although TiO2 anatase phase has been widely chosen as the main photocatalyst, it presents high electron/hole recombination rate. However, today, what is sought is a semiconductor material with enhanced photocatalytic activity with higher photon to electron conversion efficiency by introduction of electrons trap dopants. In this paper, TiO2 nanotubes arrays obtained by anodization of Ti substrates were decorated with Ru via electrodeposition, and their photo-response was investigated. First, voltammetric experiments were performed to elucidate the route of Ru reduction on the TiO2 surface and to select the range of potentials for Ru deposition. The reduction potentials were used for controlling the amount of Ru distributed all over the surface. Although Ru was electrodeposited at potentials over the range from ??0.025 to ??0.188 V vs. Ag/AgCl, the deposition of 3.7 mC cm?2 at ??0.100 V for 30 min resulted in a tenfold greater photocurrent when compared to the recorded photocurrent for the undecorated TiO2 nanotubes array. Next, Ru-decorated TiO2 nanotubes with a length of 323?±?18 nm and inner and outer diameters of 91 and 104 nm, respectively, were characterized using SEM-WDS, SEM-FEG, XRD, and XPS. UV-Vis-NIR diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and photoluminescence (PL) measurements, which revealed a maximum PL emission at 445 nm, showed that for the array of Ru-decorated TiO2 nanotubes, the electron-hole recombination may be effectively inhibited by the presence of ruthenium electrodeposited, which can make this photocatalyst even more attractive for environmental applications. The performances of the TiO2 and Ru-decorated TiO2 catalysts were compared in heterogeneous photocatalysis experiments for color removal of an azo-dye, which presented a pseudo-first-order rate constant more than twofold greater for the Ru-decorated TiO2 catalysts.  相似文献

Ag/TiO2 photocatalytic films were produced by hybrid sol-gel method. The photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange (MO) in aqueous solution under 365 nm irradiation on TiO2 and Ag/TiO2 thin films was investigated. The state and amount of Ag species within the film and the enhancement mechanism of photocatalytic activity of Ag/TiO2 were discussed. With a loading molar ratio of Ag/Ti = 0.135 in TiO2 film, the maximum catalytic efficiency was observed. __________ Translated from Journal of Beijing Normal University (Natural Sciences), 2005, 41(6) (in Chinese)  相似文献

In this study, porous TiO2 thin films were prepared by the sol‐gel method employing polyethylene glycol 1000 (PEG 1000) as an organic template. Pore sizes were adjusted by varying the concentration of PEG 1000. The optimal PEG concentration range required to form TiO2 films with a regular porous structure was investigated and was found to be 0.01–0.015 M. As the PEG 1000 concentration increased, the surface of these films became rougher because of larger pores. Degradation of methylene blue (MB) under UV irradiation was used to determine the photocatalytic activity of the films. In addition, the effect of the pH value of the MB solution on the films was evaluated by controlling its pH value at 5, 7, and 9. The results showed that the photocatalytic activity was correlated to the pore size and pore density of the thin films. TiO2 thin films possessing pore sizes in the diameter range of 35–85 nm exhibited the best conversion of 98% after 8 h of UV irradiation when the pH value was 7.  相似文献
