The reaction d(π±, pπ±)n at incident pion momentum 340 MeV/c is analyzed based on a relativistic three-body formalism. The contributions of the various reaction mechanisms such as impulse processes, pion multiple scattering and nucleon-nucleon final-state interactions are investigated for several cases of typical kinematics. The impulse term is dominant when the recoil neutron momentum is small. On the other hand, the NN final-state interaction is found to be relatively important when the recoil neutron momentum is large. The effects of dibaryon resonances which have been suggested in πd elastic scattering are estimated using a phenomenological model. Comparisons with other work are also made.  相似文献

We present a study of the final state structure in proton-proton collisions (√s = 53 GeV) where a large transverse momentum π0 (pt > 2 GeV/c) is produced at an angle of 90°. Charged secondaries have been detected and momentum analysed in the split field magnet detector at the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings. The large angular coverage of this detector extends over ±2.5 units of rapidity and ±30° of azimuth with respect to the trigger π0, both towards and away from it. In each of these directions, where we observe similar strong correlations, we present charged particle distributions, in rapidity and momentum. In the hemisphere containing the trigger π0 we have measured the cross section for inclusive production of large transverse momentum ?± mesons. In the opposite hemisphere the data exhibit several features predicted by hard scattering quark-parton models: coplanarity and short-range rapidity correlation for the large transverse momentum secondaries as well as a transverse momentum sharing distribution similar to that observed in deep inelastic electro-production and in e+e? collisions.  相似文献

In a re-analysis of large-angle π±p elastic scattering cross-sections at 5 GeV/c the data were divided in two momentum bins separated by approximately 80 MeV/c. For π±p the differential cross-sections are found to fluctuate considerably between the two momentum bins, whereas for π?p no fluctuations are observed. The result is interpreted as possible evidence for Ericson fluctuations.  相似文献

The inclusive reactions h+p→φ+X, (h=π±,,K±,p±), are studied for 0?xF?0.3 and p⊥ ? 1 GeV at 93 and and 63 GeV incident momentum. Differential cross sections dσ/dp2 and/dxF are presented and are compared with predictions of the naive parton model.  相似文献

The differential yield of the reaction 16O(γ, π + p) at the maximum photon energy of 450 MeV was measured in the region of high momentum transfers to the residual nuclear system. The experimental results obtained for the 16O nucleus and the cross section measured earlier for the reaction 12C(γ, π + p) were analyzed on the basis of a model that takes into account the admixture of isobar states in the nuclear wave function. The probabilities for the delta-isobar configurations in the ground states of the carbon and oxygen nuclei per nucleon were estimated empirically at 0.012 ± 0.003 ± 0.002 and 0.019 ± 0.003 ± 0.003, respectively.  相似文献

The halo nuclei 11Be and 11Li have been studied in core-breakup reactions where the halo neutrons are expected to be released without a major distortion due to the reaction. The widths of the halo-neutron momentum distributions have been extracted in coincidence with He fragments, Γ = 32 ± 4 MeV/c, and Li fragments, Γ = 42 ± 4 MeV/c for 11Be and with He fragments, Γ = 42 ± 6 MeV/c for 11Li. The 11Be breakup gives a very low neutron multiplicity of 0.38±0.09 which is a manifestation of the shadowing of the neutron in the core-breakup reaction. This value can be understood from a simple theoretical calculation, which also accounts for the observed transverse momentum widths at small angles.  相似文献

The crystal momentum dependence of the final states involved in bulk photoemission from the sp-bands through a (111) surface of copper was investigated with a photon energy = 11.7 eV. Plane wave hybridization was observed and is described in terms of a 2-OPW model Hamiltonian with parameters determined to be V0=7.1±0.1 eV for the inner potential and Eg = 1.6 ± 0.2 eV for the energy gap. The model is also shown to account for a rapid intensity variation with crystal momentum of the form |aG(k)|2, where aG(k) is a plane wave amplitude of the final state wave function.  相似文献

Collective characteristics are studied of hadrons produced in beam fragmentation of non-single-diffractive π+ p-interactions at 250 GeV/c. An attempt is made to obtain experimental information on the properties of leading cluster production and fragmentation. On average, the leading cluster carries 0.8±0.1 of the incident momentum, so that the mean value of the inelasticity coefficient of 〈k〉=0.2±0.1 is significantly smaller than that deduced from leading single hadron spectra. The momentum transfer distribution shows that nonsingle-diffractive processes are less peripheral than diffraction dissociation. The analysis of thrust and sphericity shows jet-like structure of pion fragmentation, that of the charge flow an average forward charge of 〈Q f 〉=0.45±0.04, in agreement with the average charge of the beam valence quarks. Our data are compared to diffraction dissociation and to the Fritiof model.  相似文献

A decay scheme for the 130±20 ns high-spin isomer in 182Os has been established. The excitation energy of the isomer is 7049±1 keV and it has Iπ = 25(+). A 2.4% decay directly to the yrast 24+ level at 5988 keV is observed. In 184Os a 20±5 ns isomer is observed at 2366±1 keV excitation energy with Iπ = 10+. Again, direct transitions into the yrast 8+ and 10+ levels are observed. Contrary to previous speculations, there is no compelling evidence for stable triaxial shapes in the structure of the levels through which the isomers decay. The abnormally short half-lives observed, as well as the unusual decay patterns, are best understood in terms of a γ-soft nuclear potential. Motion in the γ-direction allows the isomer to decay via barrier penetration from an axially symmetric prolate shape with the angular momentum along the nuclear symmetry axis (deformation aligned state) via oblate shapes to another prolate shape with the angular momentum perpendicular to the nuclear symmetry axis (rotation-aligned state).  相似文献

Effects of hadronic vacuum polarization in the reactions e+e?e+e? and e±e±e±e± are discussed. The cross sections with spin polarization are given. Measurements of these effects could directly determine in the hadronic vacuum polarization at spacelike momentum transfers and could improve tests of quantum electrodynamics.  相似文献

Along with ?? 0 and ?? mesons, a resonance structure in the invariant mass spectrum of two photons atM ??? = 360 ± 7 ± 9 MeV is observed in dC interactions at momentum 2.75 GeV/c per nucleon. This resonance structure is not observed in pC collisions at the beam momentum 5.5 GeV/c. The result obtained in the reaction dC is confirmed by the second experiment carried out on the deuteron beam at momentum 3.83 GeV/c per nucleon with a copper target. Some other checks of the observed effect are presented.  相似文献

In the present work rms angular momenta have been deduced for the fission fragments corresponding to131Tem,g and133Tem,g in232Th(α 40 MeV,f) and238U(α 40 MeV,f) systems from the radiochemically determined independent isomeric yield ratios and statistical model based analysis. For131Te and133Te the rms angular momenta deduced are 5.9±1.0 and 7.9±1.2 ? respectively in232Th(α 40 MeV,f) and 7.2±0.6 and 8.0±0.8 ? respectively in238U(α 40 MeV,f). Comparison of the present data with the literature data for these fragments in the same compound nuclei236U* and242Pu* at lower excitation energies shows increase in the fragment angular momentum with increasing excitation energy and angular momenta of the fissioning nuclei. Fragment angular momentum deduced theoretically for asymmetric and deformed fragments on the basis of thermal equilibration of the collective rotational degrees e.g., rigid rotation, wriggling, tilting, bending and twisting modes considering the effect of multichance fission, are in good agreement with the experimental observations.  相似文献

In the hydrogen bubble chamber study of the4Hepdppn reaction at incident alpha 8.6 GeV/c momentum the structures in the two-proton effective mass distribution are observed at 2,035±15 MeV and 2,137±15 MeV. Possible nature of the effect is discussed.  相似文献

Form factors measured for the decay η′ å ηπ ? π + in π ? A å η′π ? A* reactions at a beam momentum of p π = 28 GeV are presented. The distribution in Dalitz variables for 7000 decay events is described well within a linear and a nonlinear parametrization of the relavant matrix element. The slope parameter in the variable y differs from zero significantly. It is Reα = ?0.072±0.012 (stat.)±0.006 (syst.) in the linear and a = ?0.120±0.027 (stat.)±0.015 (syst.) in the nonlinear parametrization. In this decay, the C-violation parameter is compatible with zero, c = 0.021±0.024.  相似文献

A measurement of the inclusive production of π0 mesons in hadronic Z decays is presented and compared to Monte Carlo model predictions. The analysis is based on approximately 2 million hadronic events recorded with the ALEPH detector at LEP at a centre-of-mass energy of ?s = 91.2 GeV. Neutral pions are reconstructed using photons measured in the electromagnetic calorimeter and photons from conversion pairs. The inclusive π0 momentum spectrum is measured in the range 0.025 < x p = p/p beam < 1. In this range the number of π0 per hadronic Z is found to be 4.80 ± 0.07(stat) ± 0.31(sys). The differential inclusive π0 cross section is also measured as a function of transverse momentum with respect to the event plane (p T in and p T out ).  相似文献

A study of a 150000-picture exposure of ¯pd at 5.5 GeV/c yielded 152 events satisfying the hypothesis ¯pdp s π+?π0. For the events with proton spectator in the momentum range 100–280 MeV/c we obtained the cross section of 0.11±0.02 mb. Assuming the validity of the impulse approximation we estimate a cross section of 0.43±0.06 mb for the reaction ¯pn→ π+?π0. The rate for single ? meson production and an upper limit for double ? production are given. A modified multiperipheral Regge model was used in order to describe the general features of the data.  相似文献

The lifetime of the neutral pion (π0) has been directly measured. The lifetime has been found to be τπ0 = (0.897±0.022±0.017) × 10?16 s. The systematic error results from uncertainties in the momentum spectrum of the π0 used for the measurement. This measurement yields a decay width of the π0 of (7.34±0.18±0.11) eV. An axial anomaly calculation, which neglects the finite mass of the π0, predicts a value of 7.87 eV.  相似文献

The reaction γp →ωp(ω → π+π?π0 and π0 → γ γ) has been studied in ep interactions using the ZEUS detector at photon-proton centre-of-mass energies between 70 and 90GeV and ∣t∣ < 0.6GeV2, where t is the squared four momentum transferred at the proton vertex. The elastic ω photoproduction cross section has been measured to be σγp → ωp = 1.21 ±0.12 ±0.23 μb. The differential cross section dσγp→ωp/d¦t¦ has an exponential shape e?b∣t∣ with a slope b =10.0 ± 1.2 ± 1.3 GeV?2. The angular distributions of the decay pions are consistent with s-channel helicity conservation. When compared to low energy data, the features of ω photoproduction as measured at HERA energies are in agreement with those of a soft diffractive process. Previous measurements of the ρ0 and ? photoproduction cross sections at HERA show a similar behaviour.  相似文献

The inelastic electron scattering cross sections for the M1 transition to the 15.11 MeV (1+, T = 1) level and for the M2 transition to the 16.58 MeV (2?, T = 1) level in 12C have been measured in the momentum transfer region q = 0.4–3.0 fm?1, with emphasis on precise data at high momentum transfers. Additionally, a broad state near 15.4 MeV excitation has been observed and its excitation energy and natural width have been established as 15.44 ± 0.04 MeV and 1.5 ± 0.2 MeV, respectively. The Fourier-Bessel technique for determining the Mλ transition current density has been applied to the M1 and M2 transitions. Particular attention has been paid to the Coulomb corrections required to deduce the PWBA form factors. The M1 radiative width is Γγ0 = 38.5 ± 0.8 eV.  相似文献

The inclusive cross sections for η production by the interactions of 280 GeV/c momentum π?, π+, and proton beams in hydrogen have been measured. The kinematical range covered is ?0.45<x F <0.45, and 4.0<P T <7.0 GeV/c for Feynmanx F and transverse momentum respectively. The η to π0 cross section ratios are given for the three reactions. The ratio of π? p to π+ p cross sections for η production in the above kinematic ranges is 1.22±0.08±0.11.  相似文献
