The energy dependence of the cross sections for the processes e+e? → π+π?π0, K+K?, ηπ+π?, ωπ0, and K+K?π+π? is studied near the production threshold for a nucleon–antinucleon pair. It is shown that, within the measurement errors, the cross sections in question behave smoothly in this energy region.  相似文献

Measurement of the exotic exchange reaction π?p → K+Σ? has been performed at 5 and 8 GeV, in the ?0.015 to ?0.13 and ?0.009 to ?0.15 (GeV/c)2 range of t repectively. We give the value near t = 0 of the differential cross section at 5 GeV, 21?21+76 nb/(GeV/c)2, and an upper limit (< 37 nb/GeV/c)2) at 8 GeV. As a check the measured differential cross section is given at both energies for the reaction π+p → K+Σ+ in the same range of t.  相似文献

In a sample of diffractive events of high multiplicity a sharp five standard deviation signal is observed at M = 2255 MeV/c2 in the K?+ mass distribution and, although with less statistical strength, at the same mass in the Λ0π+π+π? channel. These signals are identified as being due to the decay of the charmed baryon Λ+c which is produced with a cross section times branching ratio σcB in the range 0.7?1.8 μb for the K?π+p decay and 0.3?0.7 μb for the Λ-π+π+ π? system.  相似文献

Inclusive charged pion production is studied in an exposure of BEBC, filled with hydrogen, to an incidentK + beam of 70 GeV/c. Total cross sections for pion production and inclusive longitudinal and transverse momentum distributions of π?'s and of positive particles are presented and compared with data at lower energies. Earlier evidence for scaling in the fragmentation regions is confirmed. The central region π? cross section increases proportionally top LAB ?1/4 ; positive particles show almost no energy dependence atx=0. Particle ratios π+? are studied as a function ofx andy * and a comparison with 70 GeV/cK ? p data is made. Analysis of structure functions for (ππ) pairs and of particle production associated with π± triggers at large |x| in the context of quark/parton models, provides qualitative evidence for the diquark-quark structure of the proton.  相似文献

A study of a 150000-picture exposure of ¯pd at 5.5 GeV/c yielded 152 events satisfying the hypothesis ¯pdp s π+?π0. For the events with proton spectator in the momentum range 100–280 MeV/c we obtained the cross section of 0.11±0.02 mb. Assuming the validity of the impulse approximation we estimate a cross section of 0.43±0.06 mb for the reaction ¯pn→ π+?π0. The rate for single ? meson production and an upper limit for double ? production are given. A modified multiperipheral Regge model was used in order to describe the general features of the data.  相似文献

We have observed for the first time the very rare π0 → e+e? decay. The tagged π0's come from K+π+π0 decays in flight. We find the branching ratio to be (2.23?1.1+2.4) × 10?7 (90% C.L.). This value is well above the QED unitary limit and comes in rough agreement with a second-order electromagnetic process mediated by vector mesons.  相似文献

Hadron jet at lowp T is generated by Monte Carlo method using several models including our quark cascade model in which the recombination mechanism is taken into account. The predicted results from those models on π+? ratio,K + /K ? ratio, π± meson spectra and π+? ratio under π± meson and Λ particle trigger, ratio between invariant two particle cross-section (p→π + ? )/(p→π ? ? are compared with the experimental data. The effects of the asymmetric initialu- andd-quark distributions the scaling and its violation of particle spectra and particle ratios under the other particle trigger are discussed. Predictions from our recombination model fit to the experimental data fairly well.  相似文献

Results from a partial wave analysis of theKππ system produced in the hypercharge exchange reaction π? p→(K +π?π0)Λ at 3.95 GeV/c are presented. SignificantQ 1 production is observed but no evidence is found forQ 2 production thus confirming the results obtained in a previous decay Dalitz plot analysis of the same reaction. The relative phase behaviour of the 1+(K?) partial waves obtained with the present analysis provides additional confirmation of the resonance interpretation of theQ 1 enhancement. Information is also obtained about its production properties and the role played by the Λ polarization in the hypercharge exchange reaction. This is compared with the results obtained in the reactionK ? p→(π+π?π0)Λ at 4 GeV/c.  相似文献

Results are presented on two-particle inclusive production inK + p interactions at 32 GeV/c. We study thex 1,2=x 1+x 2 dependence of invariant structure functions of (ππ)-pairs and compare them to single particle inclusive distributions in the fragmentation regions. Distributions of particles observed at Feynmanx 2 in association with various “trigger” particles or systems atx 1 in the same hemisphere are dicussed in terms of the reduced variable \(\tilde x_2 = x_2 /(1 - |x_1 |)\) . We further present absolute production rates and production ratios of π+'s and π?'s associated with π±,K s 0 , Λ, \(\bar \Lambda \) ,K *+ (890), (K s 0 π+), and (π+ π?)-triggers, and compare them with qualitative predictions of the quark recombination model. Forwardbackward correlations between (K s 0 π±), (K s 0 ,p), (Λ, π?), \((\bar \Lambda \pi ^ \pm )\) , and (p, π?) pairs are also discussed.  相似文献

Decay modes of the charmed mesons, D0 and D+, are studied in e+e? annihilation data at 4.03 and 4.41 GeV c.m. energy. The products of cross section times branching ratio are measured for the K?π+, K?π+π+π?, KSπ+π? and K?π+π+ final states. Upper limits are established for the Cabibbo forbidden decays via π+π?, K+K?, K+K? π+, K+π+π? and π+π?π+. The K?π+π+π? final state is shown to be dominated by K?π+ρ0.  相似文献

The double charge exchange reaction3He(K?,π +)Xn was studied at 870 MeV/c. In the X missing mass range below the sigma-nucleon production threshold (2130 MeV/c2), events were detected which can be attributed to the two-nucleon process pp(K?,π +)λn. This reaction and mass range also offers good prospects for finding theI=1/2,l=1 (1 P1) spin-singlet dibaryon Ds suggested as the lowest massS=?1 dibaryon in the MIT Bag Model. Although the existence of the Ds is not ruled out by the present data, there is no need to invoke such an object to account for the observed events below σ production threshold. We show that the cross section level for these events is compatible with a dominant two-nucleon mechanism K?p→π 0λ,π 0p →π +n. We also offer an interpretation of the recent (K?,K+) data on nuclear targets from Iijimaet al., which display a broad peak centered around a K+ momentum of 600 MeV/c. We find that the two-nucleon mechanism K?N →πY,πN→K+Y produces cross sections which are at least an order of magnitude smaller than those observed, and we suggest that the one nucleon process K?p →Φλ, followed by the decayΦ → K+K?, accounts for the data.  相似文献

The reactions π+ p→π+(K + K ? π+ π? p andppp(K + K ? π+ π?)p where the (K + K ? π+ π?) system is centrally produced have been studied at 85 GeV/c. 48% of the final state proceeds through single or double vector meson resonant production i.e.,K *0(890) (37%), ? (4%),ρ 0 (7%). Evidence is found for associatedK *0 (890) \(\bar K\) *o (890) production (6.4±1.1%) with a cross section ten times higher than that found for associated ? ? production in the same experiment.  相似文献

|η+?| can be rather cleanly determined in e+e?→ K0K0 at the φ-resonance position from the π+π? time-distribution of decays of one of the produced kaons within a suitable angular portion of a hemisphere. Our procedure is better than the existing methods.  相似文献

We present the results of a search for a resonance at 2.6 GeV decaying into KS0π±π+π? in the six-prong plus KS0 final state in 14.75 GeV/cpp interactions. We do not find confirming evidence, and with 95% confidence we quote an upper limit of σ·BR < 21 ub.  相似文献

CP violation has been observed as a time-dependent rate asymmetry between the decays ${?erline K}^0 ?ghtarrow ?^{0} ?^{0}$ and K0 → π0π{0}, where the neutral kaons are produced with definite and individually known strangeness in ${?r p}p ?ghtarrow{?erline K}^0 K^+?^- $ or p?p → K0 K? π+. A special technique for the data analysis has been developed. The values obtained for ?00 and ¦ η00¦ are in agreement with those of previous measurements of CP violation.  相似文献

π ? ω interference is studied in the reactions K? p → π+ π?0, ?) at 4.2 GeV/c using data from a high statistics experiments in the CERN 2m HBC. The phenomenon is analysed in terms of the conventional formalism as well as in terms of a new model for π ? ω interference proposed by Earles and Srivastava. Satisfactory agreement with the data is found for both models. The rate of ω → 2π obtained in the latter model is in agreement with the VMD (Vector Meson Dominance) prediction for ω → γ → ? → 2π.  相似文献

We present results on the partial wave analysis of the Kππ system in the mass interval 1.1 to 1.6 GeV/c2, in the reaction K?p→K?π?π+p at 3.95 GeV/c. Our results are compared to those at higher energies, and we note certain differences. In particular, we find very much less of the ?K decay mode of the 1+S 0+ wave. In addition, the relative phase between the 1+S 0+ (K1π) and the 2+D 1+ (K1π) wave has been measured.  相似文献

A partial wave amplitude analysis of LEAR data on differential cross sections and analyzing powers of p?pK ? K + has been performed in the range p lab = 360 ? 1000 MeV/c, and compared to the results from the same observables for p?p → π?π+. Contrary to other analyses we see no compelling evidence of resonance behavior in our amplitudes. However, as we discuss, the resulting amplitudes are not unique since a third observable remains to be measured for both reactions. Another remarkable result is that for p?pK ? K + all our solutions in the momentum interval below 900 MeV/c, only partial wave amplitudes including J max = 2 are necessary. This upper limit on the angular momentum is smaller than J max = 3 which is required for the data of the reaction p?p → π?π+ in the same momentum interval. This finding is consistent with a model analysis for data above 1 GeV/c. Annihilation models with short range baryon exchange give too small J ≥ 2 amplitudes and final state ππ and K?K interactions are presumably very important.  相似文献

The cross section of the process e + e ? → π+π? was measured in the spherical neutral detector experiment at the VEPP-2M collider in the energy region $400 < \sqrt s < 1000 MeV$ . This measurement was based on about 12.4 × 106 selected collinear events, which include 7.4 × 106 e + e ?e + e ?, 4.5 × 106 e + e ? → π+π?, and 0.5 × 106 e + e ? → μ+μ? selected events. The systematic uncertainty of cross section determination is 1.3%. The ρ-meson parameters were determined as m ρ = 774.9±0.4±0.5 MeV, Γ ρ = 146.5±0.8±1.5 MeV, and σ(ρ → π+π?) = 1220 ± 7 ± 16 nb and the parameters of the G-parity suppressed decay ω → π+π? as σ(ω → π+π?) = 29.9 ± 1.4 ± 1.0 nb and φρω = 113.5±1.3±1.7°.  相似文献

A (Kππ)+ mass enhancement is observed in the reactions K?p → Ξ ?Ko+π+πo? when events with a small (K?Ξ?) four momentum transfer squared are selected. The signal is also visible in the reaction K?p → Ξ?π++ neutrals. The enhancement, centered at 1.28 GeV, is seen to decay preferentially into K? with spin-parity JP = 1+. The cross section for K?p→ Ξ?C+(1.28) with C+ → K? at 4.15 GeV/c incident K? momentum is (6.2 ± 0.6) μb.  相似文献
