We report the fabrication and characterization of a new type all-solid photonic bandgap fiber. By introducing an index depressed layer around the high-index rod in the unit cell of photonic crystal cladding, transmission loss as low as 2 dB/km within the first bandgap is realized for the all-solid photonic bandgap fiber with a bandwidth of over 700 nm. The bend loss experiment shows that the photonic bandgap fiber is much less bend sensitive than single-mode fiber.  相似文献

We report on a mode-locked all-normal dispersion fiber laser featuring a large-mode-area all-solid photonic bandgap fiber. The self-starting chirped-pulse laser delivers 660 mW of average power at a repetition rate of 30 MHz, leading to 22?nJ energy. The output pulses are dechirped outside the cavity to nearly transform-limited duration of 50?fs. Numerical simulations are in good agreement with experiments and highlight the key role of passive spectral filtering on pulse shaping.  相似文献

We report the fabrication of a tunable all-solid photonic bandgap fiber coupler based on the side-polishing technique. This device is believed to be the first demonstration of a photonic bandgap fiber coupler to eliminate the contamination of the open air holes. By adjusting the length of the interaction section, the tunable coupling ratio as much as 92.5% at 1550 nm is achieved. The investigation of the spectrum properties shows that the coupler has excellent tunability properties, for which the coupling ratio can be smoothly and continuously controlled.  相似文献

In this paper we report on the fabrication and characterization of an all-solid photonic band gap fiber with high contrast and low index core. The fiber cladding is composed of high index lead-silicate rods while borosilicate NC21 glass is used as a background glass. A 70 nm wide photonic band gap at 875 nm central wavelength is experimentally identified and compared with a numerical model. We also present a novel method for photonic band gap measurement using a femtosecond pulsed laser. The method is verified against standard one and discussed.  相似文献

Ultrasensitive UV-tunable grating in all-solid photonic bandgap fibers   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We study the shift of a long period grating’s resonance wavelength with UV induced refractive index changes in an all-solid photonic bandgap fiber. A long period grating is mechanically imprinted in an all-solid photonic bandgap fiber with Germanium doped silica high-index rods in a lower-index silica background. The index of the high-index rods is modified through UV exposure, and we observe that the long period grating’s resonance shifts with the bandgaps. With a sensitivity of 21,000 nanometers per refractive index unit and a 8.8 nm resonance width changes of refractive index of 3 × 10−6 are in principle detectable  相似文献

全固态光子带隙光纤由于其独特的带隙和色散特性以及易于和传统光纤熔接的优势,引起了国内外研究人员的广泛关注.本文采用等离子体化学气相沉积工艺结合堆叠拉制法制备了全固态光子带隙光纤,并运用频域有限差分法模拟了其损耗和色散特性.该光纤1550 nm处有较低损耗且单模传输,计算得到1550 nm处的有效模场面积和色散分别为191.81μm2和16.418 ps/(km·nm),在测试范围1500—1650 nm内损耗小于0.15 dB/m.结合实验结果,对光纤参数做了进一步模拟优化.  相似文献

大模场单模光纤在高功率激光器、高功率光传输和高灵敏度传感器等领域具有重要意义.设计了一种新型超低损耗大模场单模光纤,包层空气孔由掺氟硅玻璃棒代替,掺氟硅玻璃棒排列呈六重准晶体结构.基于有限元法对光纤的传输特性进行了数值模拟.研究了光纤结构参量变化对模式特性和有效模场面积的影响.结果表明:波长在1064 nm处,有效模场面积高达5197μm2,基模的限制性损耗低于10-5dB/km,解决了大模场与低损耗之间的冲突;在1064—2000 nm波段内,基模与二阶模的限制性损耗相差7个量级,实现单模传输;半径为10 cm时,弯曲损耗小于0.01 dB/m,具有良好的低弯曲损耗特性.此光纤能够提高光纤热损伤阈值,减少接续损耗,全固态结构有效避免了空气孔塌陷,简化制备工艺,对高功率激光传输、光纤激光器和光纤放大器的发展具有重要意义.  相似文献

设计了基于断环结构的全固光子带隙光纤,其背景材料为熔石英而断环结构由若干掺杂的高折射率介质柱构成.基于平面波展开法计算得到的态密度图和Bloch模场分布表明,该种光纤中的一个高阶带隙可以得到调节并被极大展宽,带隙调节的基本原理是断环可以同时控制包层介质柱的线偏振模式的角向和径向模式阶数.研究表明,断环中的介质柱数目决定了受影响最小的一组线偏振模式的最高角向阶数,而带隙宽度受介质柱尺寸影响很大.这一宽的高阶带隙可以用来设计带隙中心分别在800和1550 nm、带宽分别为488和944 nm的全固光子带隙光纤 关键词: 全固光子带隙光纤 光子带隙 光纤设计 平面波展开法  相似文献

A novel kind of all-solid photonic bandgap fiber (AS-PBGF) has been used in the master oscillator power amplifier structured Er/Yb-co-doped pulsed fiber amplifier to suppress the Yb band parasitic lasing for the power scaling and safety operation. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time to report the use of AS-PBGF to suppress the Yb band parasitic lasing. The experimental results show that the Yb band parasitic lasing has been suppressed efficiently and the amplifier power has been raised dramatically with the utilization of AS-PBGF. An output power of 2.66 W was finally obtained without any unwanted parasitic lasing.  相似文献

We describe the design and fabrication of a photonic bandgap fiber formed with two different glasses. As in a hollow-core fiber, light is guided in a low-index core region because of the antiresonances of the high-index strands in the fiber cladding. The structure described represents an ideal bandgap fiber that exhibits no interface modes and guides over the full width of multiple bandgaps.  相似文献

设计了一种低损耗、宽频段、高双折射太赫兹光子带隙光纤,呈三角晶格排列的亚波长空气孔包层实现了带隙的局域作用.利用全矢量有限元法对光纤的双折射及损耗特性进行了理论分析.结果表明,在大约0.3 THz的宽频范围内,类矩形纤芯太赫兹光子带隙光纤的损耗小于0.009 cm-1,相双折射在10-3数量级,群双折射可达10-2数量级. 关键词: 太赫兹 太赫兹波导 光子晶体光纤 双折射  相似文献

Broadband, compact in-fiber polarizers were fabricated using a pulsed CO(2) laser to modify the air holes along one side of the hollow-core photonic bandgap fibers. The polarizers have lengths from 3 to 6 mm and exhibit a polarization extinction ratio of better than 20 dB over a wavelength range larger than 100 nm at approximately 1,550 nm.  相似文献

We report a neodymium fiber laser incorporating an all-solid photonic bandgap fiber to suppress the four-level laser transition 4F(3/2)-4I(11/2). We demonstrate lasing at 907 nm on the three-level transition 4F(3/2)-4I(9/2) when pumping at 808 nm. The maximum slope efficiency obtained was 32% with a threshold pump power of 70 mW.  相似文献

提出一种新型的全固态八边形大模场低损耗的掺镱石英光子晶体光纤,利用多极法对光纤的结构和特性进行了模拟.这种结构的光子晶体光纤空气孔由掺有少量氧化硼的石英棒代替,简化了制备过程,提高了光纤的热损伤阈值.在波长为1064 μm处,光纤的模场面积可达2000 μm2,还可实现单模传输,而且其弯曲损耗很小,当弯曲半径为5 cm时弯曲损耗小于05 dB/m.这种光纤对光纤激光器和光纤放大器的发展有重要意义. 关键词: 光子晶体光纤 模场面积 弯曲损耗 限制损耗  相似文献

We introduce a design procedure for hollow-core photonic bandgap (PBG) fiber with a cladding made of air-silica honeycomb photonic crystal (PC). It is found that air-guiding can be realized in both fundamental and secondary PBG regions of the cladding PC. Dispersion and radiation loss of the fundamental mode for two types of fiber structure are theoretically calculated. The fibers show promising waveguiding ability.  相似文献

Nonlinear interaction between spectral components in two different photonic bandgaps is experimentally demonstrated by launching femtosecond pulses near a zero-dispersion wavelength of a hybrid photonic crystal fiber, which guides by a combination of total internal reflection and bandgap effects. It is demonstrated that the initial pulse becomes spectrally broadened, and narrowband resonant radiation is generated in a different bandgap from the one responsible for guiding at the pump wavelength. The spectral intensity of the resonant radiation peaks at 2.7 dB below that of the broadened pulse in the pump-guiding bandgap.  相似文献

A polarization controller was built by pressurizing laterally three segments of a commercial hollow-core photonic bandgap fiber. By varying the magnitudes of the applied pressures, the output state of polarization showed a good coverage of all the possible polarization states on the surface of the Poincaré sphere.  相似文献
