A Curie-point headspace sampler (CPHS) equipped with a purge and trap sampler has been developed for use with capillary gas chromatography. The new system can handle a variety of samples, including gases, liquids, and solids, and can also be used as a pyrolyzer.  相似文献

A direct injection method for large volume samples which avoids severe tailing of the solvent peak has been developed using a packed column injector (up to 100 μl) leading into an ordinary capillary column (0.3 mm i.d.). Modifications are made to the cooler zones of the inlet port and on the carrier gas flow control system. This injection technique is based on the effective use of phase soaking and cold trapping using a retention gap. The large volume of solvent vapor is rapidly purged out of the injector with a higher flow of carrier gas while the solutes trapped at the head of the column are subsequently analyzed with another optimum flow rate. The proposed carrier gas flow regulation system is also compared with conventional split/splitless injection methods.  相似文献

Summary In order to prevent plugging during deactivation of small diameter (50 m i.d.) capillary columns for gas and supercritical fluid chromatography, various high temperature deactivation methods were employed. Pure hexamethyldisilazane and hexamethyldisiloxane (a substitute for D4) were dynamically coated on the column, while a film (0.05 m) of OV-101 was statically coated, before high temperature (450°C) treatment. Excellent deactivated columns were obtained, and no significant difference in column activity was observed using any of these three methods.Dedicated to Professor S. R. Summary Methyl(phenyl)silicones offer useful selectivities when used as stationary phases in gas chromatography (GC). Such phases have, however, hitherto been of restricted importance in capillary GC due to the lack of phases having a viscosity high enough to ensure stationary phase film stability. Further, to utilize fully the possibilities of a methyl(phenyl)silicone capillary column, it must also possess high efficiency and a high degree of deactivation.In this work, the preparation of soda-glass capillary columns coated within situ cured methyl(phenyl) and methyl(tolyl)-silicones is presented. Vulcanization was made possible by the introduction of some vinyl substitution in the gum to be cured: tolyl-containing gums could be cured without the presence of vinyl groups. In addition, fused silica capillary columns coated with OV-1701 were prepared.The columns show a coating efficiency of above 80%, a thermal stability up to 320 °C and a high degree of deactivation. Their utility is demonstrated by the separation of samples containing polynuclear aromatics, antidepressants and some potent mutagens.Presented at the 14th International Symposium on Chromatography London, September, 1982  相似文献

A modification of a packed GC injector to a capillary injector is presented using a simple device which is connected to the GC column by an adsorption-free connector. It permits injections of large sample volumes up to 500 μl hexane solutions on normal 0.3 mm i.d. capillary columns. No special requirements for the stationary phase are necessary. Involatile residues remain inside the device which can be exchanged easily. High performance of separation and quantification is achieved.  相似文献

Summary A new simplified version of a closed on-column injector is introduced. Because of its design isobaric injection conditions do not have to be followed and a wide range of injection temperatures above the boiling point of the sample solvent can be chosen for on-column injections in capillary gas chromatography. A single 0.2 m focal length near-IR monochromator providing a 0.8–3.2 nm effective bandpass was evaluated as spectrometer for F-, Cl-, Br-, I-, S-, and P-selective atomic emission detection in capillary gas chromatography. With optimized plasma conditions and careful wavelength selection, interferences from eluting hydrocarbons were almost eliminated for all the elements studied (element-to-carbon selectivities between 1000:1 and 10000:1). For Cl and S, other heteroatoms were found not to cause cross-interferences. F-, Br-, I-, and P-selective detection, however, was complicated by this second type of non-specificity. For these atoms, elemental confirmation was carried out by analyzing the samples also for heteroatoms potentially causing interferences.  相似文献

The selection of stationary phases in capillary gas chromatography is discussed. Methyl silicone, phenyl methyl silicone, trifluoropropylmethyl silicone, biscyanopropyl silicone, and high molecular weight (HMW) polyethylene glycol are considered to be the basic phases. Selectivities and polarities between these phases are obtained by selectivity tuning. Selectivity tuning can be performed in three different ways, namely by synthesizing a tuned stationary phase, by mixing the basic phases, or by coupling capillary columns of different selectivities. In coupling capillary columns the variables are column length, β-value, temperature, and/or pressure.  相似文献

The method of invariant relative retention value determination using commerciallly produced fused silica open-tubular columns with different contents of stationary liquid phase has been tested. <正>A guanidinium ionic liquid,N,N,N',N'-tetrahexyl-N",N"-dimethylguanidinium bis(trifluoromethane)sulfonylimide(THDMGNTf_2), was synthesized and used as stationary phase for capillary gas chromatography.In comparison with imidazolium ionic liquid stationary phase,the present new stationary phase exhibits quite different selectivity and behaves more like a low polar stationary phase.The guanidinium ionic liquid of THDMG-NTf_2 exhibited better separation of Grab test mixture than imidazolium ionic liquid of 1-octyl-3-butylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethane)sulfonylimide(OBIM-NTf_2).Solvation parameter model was also used to evaluate the selectivity of THDMG-NTf_2.Additionally,essential oil of Magnolia biondii Pamp was analyzed to further evaluate the selectivity of THDMG-NTf_2 for a sample of complicated components.Satisfactory separation of the essential oil was achieved on a THDMG-NTf_2 column(10 m) while using a commercial column(30 m) as reference.The present study shows that the guanidinium ionic liquid possesses novel chromatographic selectivity and has great potential for wide applications.  相似文献

The present paper describes constructional details and evaluations of an at-column injector for capillary GC. Injections were made via a sample loop on a 0.32 mm i.d. capillary column. Two rotary valves were employed to allow a wash of the sample loop and a backflush of the transfer line. Repeatability, calculated from absolute area counts for n-alkanes was between 0.3–1% RSD, for injected sample volumes between 5 and 100 μl. Promising results were also obtained with syringe-based injections on narrow bore (100 μ i.d.) columns. Repeatability on the basis of normalized area counts was in the order of 0.1–0.2% RSD, while solvent tailing was practically absent.  相似文献

Routine analytical methods for benzo[a]pyrene and nitroarenes in airborne particulates are presented. Benzo[a]pyrene in airborne particulates was easily analyzed by a capillary GC/NCIMS. Analysis time was about 10 min and analytical values obtained by this method agreed well with those by HPLC/spectrofluorometry. Nineteen nitroarenes were analyzed by capillary GC/FTD following a simple clean-up procedure. Fifteen out of 19 nitroarenes analyzed were mutagenic for Salmonella typhimurium TA100 and TA98, and 4 nitroarenes were carcinogenic to experimental animals.  相似文献

The contribution of extra-column effects to the height equivalent to a theoretical plate (HETP) in capillary gas chromatography is calculated. Four extra terms are added to the Golay-Giddings equation and evaluated in order to verify their significance. The paradox of negative A terms is resolved by curve fitting of experimental values to the theoretical function of HETP, including the extra-column effects. The importance of the A term and the diffusion process for an injection in split mode were determined to be negligible compared to the other terms in the HETP equation. On the other hand, extra-column contributions, proportional to the square of the gas velocity, are of significant importance. This contribution is inversely proportional to the column length.  相似文献
