Cross sections for elastic and spin-flip scattering of metastable 2s muonic hydrogen on hydrogen atoms are calculated for the symmetric systems pμ+p, dμ+d and tμ+t. The calculations are performed in the two-level approximation of the adiabatic method with inclusion of the Lamb shift and electron screening. Due to the large polarizability of the 2s state, the obtained cross sections significantly exceed their counterparts for the ground-state muonic hydrogen.  相似文献

Among the available surface analytic instruments, elastic recoil detection (ERD) is known as a reliable method for hydrogen analysis. Since conventional fluence determination i.e. beam current integration is incredible at a large tilt angle, ion fluence is determined by the scattering spectrum that is simultaneously measured with recoil spectrum. However scattering cross sections deviate Rutherford values in the ERD energy of 1–3 MeV. Carbon scattering cross section is different from Rutherford value for higher beam energies over 1.8 MeV. As a result hydrogen content is exaggerated when fluence is determined by carbon matrix because of fluence underestimation due to lower value of scattering cross section than Rutherford’s. Therefore in order to quantify hydrogen in diamond like carbon (DLC) incident beam energy lower than 1.6 MeV should be used where carbon scattering cross sections are well agreed with Rutherford’s.  相似文献

The elastic scattering of a positron by a hydrogen atom is studied by using the variable-phase approach to potential scattering. Values of the scattering length and the elastic scattering phase shifts obtained in the (i) static, (ii) polarization and (iii) extended polarization approximations for the e+?H interaction are found to be in close agreement with the results of earlier workers.  相似文献

Within the framework of the rotating wave approximation the elastic scattering of electrons by metastable 2s state of hydrogen atoms is studied in the presence of a resonant laser field. The frequency of the circularly polarized laser field is chosen to match the 2s-3p transition frequency in the hydrogen atom. Variation of the cross section with laser intensity and with incident electron energy (50-150 eV) is investigated. The differential cross-sections of atomic hydrogen for elastic scattering of electrons and positrons have been rederived with the help of a method using a single parameter-dependent unitary shift operator for the calculation of the direct contribution. When the parameter approaches zerc the new method leads to the well-known conventional Glauber results. The numerical calculations include polarization effects and the exchange corrections obtained according to alternative approximation methods. Results calculated with Franco’s exchange show a definite improvement over the earlier results for medium energy electrons at large angles of scattering. Total elastic cross-sections have been calculated for 50 and 100eV electrons and positrons.  相似文献

We present calculated scattering lengths for collisions between various isotopic forms of lithium and hydrogen atoms interacting via singlet and triplet molecular states of LiH. We demonstrate that one bound triplet level is supported for each isotopomer 7LiH, 6LiH, 7LiD, and 6LiD. We obtain large calculated triplet scattering lengths that are stable against uncertainties in the potential. We present elastic and momentum transfer cross sections, and the corresponding rate coefficients, for hydrogen atoms colliding with 7Li atoms. We suggest that enhanced cooling of trapped atomic hydrogen by 7Li atoms is feasible.  相似文献

By treating the static field of the atom exactly and using the eikonal wavefunction to bring in the couplings to all remaining atomic states, a simple formula for elastic scattering amplitude is derived. Its usefulness is demonstrated by applying it to electron—hydrogen scattering.  相似文献

水下目标弹性声散射与其他声散射成分在时域和频域上均存在混叠, 现有信号处理方法受分辨力限制无法在混叠状态下识别目标弹性声散射特征. 针对这个问题, 提出了一种目标弹性声散射信号分离方法. 以目标回波亮点模型为基础, 分析了线性调频信号入射时目标声散射成分的信号特性, 提出了一种目标声散射成分向单频信号的映射方法, 并理论推导出了目标声散射结构与映射结果之间的线性对应关系, 实现了通过窄带滤波分离出目标弹性声散射成分. 仿真与消声水池实验数据处理结果表明, 该方法基本可以完全分离出目标回波信号中的弹性声散射成分, 分离出的弹性声散射具有与理论一致的信号特征, 验证了该分离方法的有效性.  相似文献

Results of recent calculations of cross-sections for muonic hydrogen atom scattering in solid hydrogen isotope targets are presented. The coherent parts of these cross-sections, namely, the elastic Bragg scattering and phonon coherent scattering, are calculated accurately for the first time. A fine structure of Bragg peaks is obtained in the case of Bravais fcc structure of hydrogen targets frozen rapidly at 3 K. The one-phonon coherent cross-section is estimated using the Debye approximation. The calculated differential cross-sections are used for Monte Carlo simulations of muonic atom diffusion and slowing down in solid hydrogens. Also is calculated the energy-dependent rate of resonant ddμ molecule formation in 3 K solid deuterium quantum crystal, using the Debye model and Van Hove's formalism of the response function. This rate is very different from that obtained for the 3 K gas model. The influence of dμ atom slowing down on the average ddμ formation rate is considered. It is shown that very slow dμ deceleration below 10 meV is important for explanation of experimental results. At the Cooler Synchrotron COSY/Jülich spin-correlation parameters in elastic proton-proton (pp) scattering have been measured with a 2.11 GeV polarized proton beam and a polarized hydrogen atomic beam target. We report results for A(NN), A(SS), and A(SL) for c.m. scattering angles between 30 degrees and 90 degrees. Our data on A(SS)--the first measurement of this observable above 800 MeV--clearly disagrees with predictions of available pp scattering phase-shift solutions while A(NN) and A(SL) are reproduced reasonably well. We show that in the direct reconstruction of the scattering amplitudes from the body of available pp elastic scattering data at 2.1 GeV the number of possible solutions is considerably reduced.  相似文献

We have investigated the use of local exchange potentials for approximating the solution of the exchange integro-differential equation. It is found that judging the accuracy of such potentials by their ability to produce correct elastic scattering phase shifts may not be sufficient for inelastic scattering. This is illustrated through a model calculation of electron excitation of the 2p state of hydrogen.  相似文献

模拟研究了非理想氢原子束在真空环境下的长程传输效应。根据中性化程度的不同,将非理想束分为欠中性束和过中性束。通过建立束流传输的准电磁模型,研究了束流密度、中性化因子、空间磁场和弹性散射等因素对非理想氢原子束的影响。结果表明:对于欠中性束,负氢离子的存在对氢原子的传输几乎没有影响,因此欠中性束的发射装置可以考虑去除偏置磁场,以减小设备体积和质量;对于过中性束,束流损失率与束流密度和中性化因子有关,即束流密度越大,束流损失越大;中性化因子越高,束流损失就越高;而无论是欠中性束还是过中性束,空间磁场和粒子间的弹性散射对其传输都没有影响。  相似文献

In the scattering of negative particles other than the electron by atoms at lab-frame energies around 10 eV, an elastic process termed “brickwall scattering” might lead to a high probability for scattering angles around 180°. For an antiproton slowing in hydrogen, this backward scattering would result in the loss of nearly all of its energy in a single collision, since it and a hydrogen atom have nearly the same mass. Such energy loss would have a significant effect on the energy distribution of antiprotons at energies where capture by the protons of hydrogen is possible and might, thereby, affect the capture rate and the distribution of capture states. In the semiclassical treatment of the problem with an adiabatic potential energy, brickwall scattering is indeed present, and with a substantial cross section. However, this model appears to underestimate inelastic processes. Based on calculations for negative muons on hydrogen atoms, these processes appear to occur for about the same impact parameters as brickwall scattering and thus substantially reduce its effect.  相似文献

Elastic scattering of electrons by hydrogen molecules has been investigated in the intermediate energy range 100–2000 eV. The direct scattering amplitude consists of first Börn and second Börn minus distortion term. The contribution of exchange has been included through Ochkur approximation. We have recently measured total cross sections for 5 to 302 eV positrons scattered by atomic hydrogen using a beam transmission technique. A check for consistency is made between these measurements and prior measurements of positronium formation and ionization cross sections by making use of available theoretical calculations of elastic and excitation cross sections for positron-atomic hydrogen scattering.  相似文献

Hydrogen adsorbed on a Si(100) surface can be detected by angle-resolved LEIS (low-energy ion scattering spectroscopy) which uses a 4He+ ion beam with incident energies around 1 keV. The scattering peaks from the surface hydrogen are restricted to narrow scattering angles from 0° to 15°, which is in agreement with those expected by the binary elastic collision model.  相似文献

The recent measurement of the Lamb shift in muonic hydrogen resulted in a tenfold improved value of the rms charge radius of the proton. The value is, however, 7 standard deviations discrepant from the world average of this quantitiy which is obtained from elastic electron-proton scattering and precision spectroscopy of hydrogen and deuterium. New input from both theory and experiment is needed to resolve this so-called “proton radius puzzle”.  相似文献

Strong solid state effects in low energy scattering of pμ atoms in solid hydrogen are reported and analyzed. Such effects have been observed in TRIUMF experiment E742 where muons are stopped in thin frozen (3 K) layers of hydrogen. Emission of low energy pμ atoms from the hydrogen layer into adjacent vacuum was much higher than expected, based on calculations which ignored the solid nature of hydrogen. Monte Carlo simulations, performed using the scattering cross-sections with solid state effects taken into account, show the important role of the coherent elastic Bragg scattering in the diffusion of pμ atoms. For pμ energies lower than the Bragg cut-off limit (∼2 meV) the total scattering cross-section falls by several orders of magnitude, the hydrogen target becomes transparent and the emission of cold pμ atoms takes place.
