Showers generated by electrons of 200 and 440 MeV energy in single lead plates of 2, 5, and 10 radiation lengths are measured in scintillator material (NE 102 A) varying between 1.24 and 10.5 g/cm2. The mean energy deposited in a scintillator is derived fromNagel's Monte-Carlo calculations. The photon contributionn γ to the total pulseheight is of the order 15% near shower maximum tmax, it dominates the electron contributionn e in a 3 cm thick scintillator for shower depthst ≧ 4.2 · tmax. The slope of the total ionizationn e+n γ behind the shower maximum can be approximated byn(t) ~ exp(?0.264t). The shower absorption in scintillator depends on the thicknessx (g/cm2) as exp (?0.068x). An arrangement of counter trays, scintillators and lead plates is calibrated with electrons between 100 and 440 MeV energy. A suitably defined track-lengthS is shown to give minimum error in energy measurement and to depend linearly on electron energy. The track-length constant of 22 MeV/r.l. is compared with the results of other authors.  相似文献

The forward asymmetry in the differential cross section for the photo disintegration of the deuteron has been calculated on the basis of a phenomenological theory for energies up to 80 MeV. The formulas for this asymmetry, which come from theE1-E2-andM1-M2-interference, are given, assuming the validity ofSiegert's theorem. TheE2-andM2-amplitudes are calculated approximately, using the Hulthén wavefunction with a 4% D-state admixture for the ground state and scattered waves determined by the phase shifts given by Marshak for the final states. The contribution of theM1-M2-interference turns out to be unimportant for the asymmetry, theE1-E2-interference giving the main effect. In the differential cross section,dσ/dΩ=a + b sin 2 ? + c cos ? + d cos ? sin 2 ?, we have obtained a very low value forc and the ratioc/d is approximately equal toa/3b. This is in contradiction to the assumptionc/d=a/b made in the previous analysis of the experimental data. This ratio seems to be insensitive to the value of the D-state admixture. For the lover energiesE γ=10 MeV andE γ=20 MeV the theoretical values for “d” are in agreement with the experimental ones. For the energies 54 and 80 MeV we have made a comparison of the theoretical differential cross sectiondσ/dΩ, taking into account the values for “a” and “b”, obtained in a former work ie, with the measureddσ/dΩ.  相似文献

The angular distributions of the 17,6 MeVγ-rays from the reaction Li7(p,γ) Be8 have been measured betweenE p=0,4 MeV andE p=0,65 MeV. The known strong asymmetry resulting from interference of the 441 keV-resonance radiation and the nonresonant radiation, and a cos2 Θ-term, slowly increasing with energy have been observed. According to our results the nonresonant radiation is predominantly due tos-wave capture, but in addition to this a small contribution ofp-waves must be considered.  相似文献

The ratio of the total and differential cross section for the inelastic positron-nucleus scattering (ē, N)-process to the total (γ, N) -cross section is derived in Born approximation for electric and magnetic dipole transitions. The result agrees with that obtained for the (e, N)-processes. Using the relativistic Coulomb Eigenfunctions for the continuous spectrum of the positrons, the Coulomb correction, the effect of screening and that of finite nuclear size agree with the (e, N)-process, when the annihilation of positrons with atomic electrons is neglected, and for positron energiesE 1,2 + >10 MeV. The effect of finite nuclear size is only calculated in Born approximation. ForE 1,2 + ≦2 MeV only the Coulomb correction differs from that obtained for the (e, N)-process. In the angular distribution for the (ē, N)-process there should be no interference of positron waves scattered by different multipoles, where the inelastic scattered positrons are detected. Numerical calculations have been carried out for nuclei withZ=6.29 and 82 and scattering angles ?=1°, 132°, 160° and 180° of the positron. This theory can be compared with the experiments in progress by W.C.Barber et al. using positrons for the inelastic scattering process at nuclei. The two-and three-virtual quanta-exchange effect in the (ē, N)-cross section is below 1.3% for positron energies between 10≦E 1 + ≦300 MeV, and decreases rapidly for higher energies. This theory is also valied for inelastic scattering processes with positiveμ-mesons at nuclei; one has only to change the mass in the following equations.  相似文献

The energy spectra of photo protons from highly enriched N15 were investigated with the bremsstrahlung from the Heidelberg betatron running at six different endpoint energies between 19 and 30.5 MeV. The protons were detected at 90° to theγ-beam by means of a CsJ-spectrometer with pulse shape discrimination. The energy spectra show pronounced maxima atE p =3.2; 4.6; 9.5 and 13.3 MeV. Proton yields are given as a function of endpoint energy, the yield value atE 0=30.5 MeV being (7.0±0.8) μb/MeV · ster. Because the first excited state in the daughter nucleus C14 lies 6.09 MeV above the groundstate, the cross section for groundstate transitions of the process N15(γ, p)C14 could be derived from the upper 6 MeV of the single proton spectra. The main contribution to the cross section comes from the region between 18 and 26 MeV excitation energy with maxima at 19.5; 20.4; 22.7 and 24.5 MeV. A “pygmy resonance” occurs at 15.2 MeV with further less pronounced structures at 13.6 and 17.0 MeV. The integrated cross section for groundstate transitions up to 30.5 MeV is (22±3) MeVmb assuming isotropic angular distribution. The ratios of protons from transitions to excited states and from the (γ, n p)-reaction to those of groundstate transitions rise from 0.45 atE 0=24.5 MeV to 0.70 atE 0=30.5 MeV.  相似文献

Theγ-rays of the decay of V52 were investigated with NaJ crystals andγ-γ-cascades had been sought for by a fast-slow coincidence circuit. Threeγ-transitions of energyγ 1=0,935 (0,14%),γ 2=1,331 (0,9%),γ 3=1,531 MeV (0,16%), respectively, in coincidence with the 1,434 MeV transition could be detected. It is concluded that there are four branches of V52 β-decay:β 0=2,47MeV (98,8%, logft=5,1),β 1=1,53 MeV (0,14%, logft=7,0),β 2=1,14 MeV (0,9%, logft=5,7),β 3=0,94 MeV (0,16%, logft=6,1). Spin and parity of V52 ground level is concluded to be 3+.  相似文献

A combination of the exciton and evaporation models is used to describe photonuclear reactions induced in light, medium-mass, and heavy nuclei by photons of energy in the range 7 ≤ E γ ≤ 140 MeV. Two mechanisms of the photoexcitation of nuclei are considered. These are the formation of a giant dipole resonance at energies in the range E γ ? 30 MeV and quasideuteron photoabsorption, which is dominant at energies in the region E γ ? 40 MeV. The density of particle-hole states, which appears in the exciton model, is calculated on the basis of the Fermi gas model. The emission of two preequilibrium particles is taken into account in describing the quasideuteron reaction channel. The effect of isospin conservation on giant-dipole-resonance decay accompanied by photonucleon emission is examined. The model in question is used to describe cross sections for photon-induced reactions on 26Mg, 54Fe, 112,118,119,124Sn, and 181Ta nuclei.  相似文献

The cross section forπ 0-production is calculated from the results of the dispersion relation approach ofChew, Goldberger, Low andNambu and compared with the experimental data. The predictions are made using the measured values of all scattering phase shifts. A fit of the theoretical result toσ(90?) between 260 and 370 MeV givesf 2=0,082. There is no systematic deviation from the predictions forσ (90?) up toE γ =450 MeV. The general behavior of the asymmetry coefficientB is correct. A quantitative comparison which would show the contribution of the unknown electric dipole termN (+) ofChew et al. is only reasonable after the calculation ofB and the measurements have been improved.C/A depends strongly on the small phases up to 240 MeV. The effects of the small phases are pretty large forσ(l50?) but there is no discrepancy similar to the results forπ +-production above 290 MeV. The formula for the cross section does not reduce to the results of the phenomenological theories ofBrueckner-Watson, Sachs et al. andFeld, if the simplifications made by these authors are taken into account. A combination of the exciton and evaporation models is used to describe photonucleon reactions induced in heavy and medium-mass nuclei by photons of energy in the range 7 ≤ E γ ≤ 140 MeV. The formation of a giant dipole resonance and quasideuteron absorption are considered as two mechanisms that are responsible for the photoexcitation of a nucleus in the energy regions E γ ? 20 MeV and E γ ? 40 MeV, respectively. As is well known, the densities of particle-hole states are employed in the exciton model, and these quantities are calculated on the basis of the Fermi gas model. This makes it possible to take into account the effect of the energy dependence of single-particle and single-hole densities of states on the rate of emission and intranuclear processes. The model in question is applied to describing partial photonucleon cross sections for 119Sn, 140Ce, 181Ta, and 208Pb nuclei.  相似文献

Differential cross sections have been measured for the small angle scattering ofγ-rays by iron, silver, tantalum, lead and uranium with 17 MeV photons from Li7 (p, γ) Be8 at mean four momentum transfersq of 0·5mc and 1·3mc and with 7 MeV photons from F19(p, αγ)O16 at mean four momentum transfer of 0·5mc. Under these experimental conditions only Compton, Rayleigh and possibly Delbrück scattering are of importance. Extrapolation of known theoretical results to higher energies shows, that Rayleigh and Compton scattering from bound electrons should depend only onq for small angles, smallq and fixedZ. Using this it follows, that at 17 MeV andq≈0·5mc an additional scattering process must be present, which increases with growingZ and which is negligible in the measurements at 17 MeV withq≈1·3mc and at 7 MeV withq≈0·5mc. These results are in qualitative agreement with the approximate theory for Delbrück scattering ofBethe andRohrlich, however experimental cross sections at 17 MeV andq≈0·5mc are about a factor of 1·6 lower than those predicted by this theory. This discrepancy is not unexpected, since exact calculations of Delbrück scattering amplitude fromKessler andZernik at 2·62 MeV and 6·14 MeV show even greater deviations in the same sense.  相似文献

The β-active 8Li isotope has a hard and well-defined antineutrino spectrum (E ν max= 13.0 MeV, E ν= 6.5 MeV) that ensures the reliable detection of the threshold reactions (ν e, p) and (ν e, d). An intense ν e source is proposed within a scheme comprising an accelerator with a neutron-producing target and a lithium blanket. The density analysis of 8Li production in this blanket shows that the mass of highly pure 7Li can be reduced to 100–200 kg, as compared to ~19.5 t in the option with metallic 7Li, and the size of the source can be decreased by a factor of ~2.5, which is important for the proposed short-base experiments on the search for sterile neutrinos.  相似文献

A precise investigation of radiative pion decay (π+e+νγ) in a pion beam from the meson factory of the Paul Scherrer Institute (Switzerland) was performed by the PIBETA Collaboration with the aid of the PIBETA detector. This resulted in finding 41 601 events of radiative pion decay in three kinematical regions. The absolute values of the branching ratio for radiative pion decay were determined in each of these regions. To a precision approximately four times higher than that known previously, the ratio of the axial-vector to the vector form factor was found to be γF A /F V = 0.443 (15), the latter being fixed at F V = 0.0259. The number of events found in the kinematical region specified by photon energies of Eγ > 55.6 MeV, positron energies of E e > 20.0 MeV, and angles of θγ, e > 40° between the momenta of the corresponding particles (B region) was 5233. In region B, the measured branching ratio for radiative pion decay, Rπ→evγ(expt) = 11.6(3) × 10?8, proved to be smaller by eight standard deviations than that which follows from the Standard Model, Rπ→evγ (theor) = 14.34(1) × 10?8.  相似文献

Thep-γ angular correlations in the Be9(d, p, γ)Be10 reaction have been measured in the reaction plane atE d =1.3, 1.5, 1.9, 2.3 and 2.45 MeV for proton anglesθ p =35°, 80° and 120°. The anisotropy of the angular correlations measured forθ p =35° is independent of deuteron energy. A systematic shift of the symmetry axis from the recoil direction has been observed. The shift is 20.5° at Ed=2.45 MeV. The anisotropy decreases with increasing proton angle and vanishes atθ p =120°.  相似文献

In the decay of Fe59 the following quantities have been measured:γ-ray intensities, conversion coefficients andβ-(circularly polarizedγ) correlations. The conversion coefficients were found to be: for the 1.10 MeVγ-transition, αtot.=(1.36±0.10)·10?4 and for the 1.29 MeVγ-transition, αtot.=(1.07±0.08)·10?4. The asymmetry parameterA of the correlationβ(0.27 MeV)?γ(1.29 MeV) were measured to beA= ?0.17±0.10, and forβ(0.46 MeV)?γ(1.10 MeV),A=?0.13±0.04. From these data and publishedγ?γ angular correlation measurements the following spins of Co59 levels could be deduced: 1.10 MeV,I=5/2?; 1.29 MeV,I=5/2?; and 1.43 MeV,I=3/2?. The two strongβ-ray groups are pure Gamow-Teller transitions (ΔI=1). The multipolarities of all fiveγ-rays are given.  相似文献

In order to obtain a regular but energy-dependent nuclear potential, the following modification of the separation method ofMoszkowski andScott is used: we replace the nuclear potentialv c (r) by a long-range potentialv l (r)=v c (r) Θ(r? d 0) together with a short-range energy dependent repulsionv s =h(k) Θ(r c ?r), whered 0 is the separation distance for vanishing energy andr c is the hard-core radius. Angular distributions of deuterons and tritons from the reactions52,53Cr(d,d),52,53Cr(d,d′),53,54Cr(d, t)52,53Cr have been measured at Ed=11.8 to 11.9 MeV. The elastic scattering data have been analyzed in terms of the optical model. The (d, d′) and (d, t) data have been compared with DWBA calculations. Deformation parameters and spectroscopic factors have been extracted. The results are qualitatively discussed in terms of different nuclear models.  相似文献

The decay of Xe131m was investigated in order to detect nuclear double decay processes, in which the transition energy is distributed either between twoγ-quanta or between oneγ-quantum and oneK-conversion electron or between twoK-conversion electrons. By analyzing the emittedγ-radiation in a two-dimensional way an upper limit of 2.2 · 10?5 was derived for the ratio of theγγ- toγ-transition probability. An investigation of theγ-spectrum in coincidence withK-quanta yielded an upper limit of 3 · 10?2 for the rate ofe Kγ-transitions relative toγ-transitions. The simultaneous emission of twoK-quanta was actually observed. These doubleK-quanta result either from the doubleK-conversion that was sought or from the internal conversion of the internal Compton-effect. For the doubleK-electron emission toγ-emission probability a value of (3.6±0.7) · 10?3 was obtained. TheK-conversion coefficient and the half-life of Xe131m were measured to be 32.1±0.4 and 11.94±0.04 d, respectively.  相似文献

In this paper, we have proposed S U(2) non-Abelian electromagnetism gauge theory. In the theory, photon has self-interaction and interaction between them, which can explain photon entanglement phenomenon in quantum information. Otherwise, we find there are three kinds photons γ +, γ ? and γ 0, they have electric charge + e γ , ? e γ and 0, respectively, these prediction are accordance with some experiment results.  相似文献

Then-γ angular correlation measurements for the Cr53(p, nγ) Mn53 reaction were performed atE p=2.3, 2.4 and 2.5 MeV. The neutron detector was located in the reaction plane atθ n=45?, 90? and 120? and perpendicularly to this plane atθ n=Φ=90?. The experimental results obtained are in good agreement with predictions of the statistical compound-nucleus theory.  相似文献

An experimental search for the superheavy hydrogen isotope 6H was conducted through studying the absorption of stopped π?-mesons by 9Be and 11B nuclei. A structure in the missing mass spectrum caused by the resonance states of 6H was observed in three reaction channels, namely, 9Be(π?, pd)X, 11B(π?, d3He)X, and 11B(π?, p4He)X. The parameters of the lowest state Er=6.6±0.7 MeV and Γ=5.5±2.0 MeV (Er is the resonance energy with respect to the disintegration into the triton and three neutrons) are evidence that 6H is a more weakly bound system than 4H and 5H. Three excited states of 6H were observed. Their resonance levels (E1r=10.7±0.7 MeV, Γ1r=4±2 MeV, E2r=15.3±0.7 MeV, Γ 2r=3±2 MeV, and E3r=21.3±0.4 MeV, Γ3r=3.5±1.0 MeV) are energetically capable of disintegrating into six free nucleons.  相似文献
