It is proved that any non-trivial endomorphism of an automorphism group AutFn of a free group Fn, for n 3, either is an automorphism or factorization over a proper automorphism subgroup. An endomorphism of AutF2 is an automorphism, or else a homomorphism onto one of the groups S3, D8, Z2 × Z2, Z2, or (Z2 × Z2). A non-trivial homomorphism of AutFn into AutFm, for n 3, m 2, and n > m, is a homomorphism onto Z2 with kernel SAutFn. We investigate methods for constructing nontrivial pseudocharacters on a free group F n invariant with respect to certain types of endomorphisms. We find some conditions for endomorphisms of the free group under which there is a nontrivial pseudocharacter that is invariant with respect to these endomorphisms. We consider free products $ R = \tilde{R}*\prod\limits_{{i = k}}^n {\left\langle {{r_i}} \right\rangle } $ , where one factor is F n , and the other factor is a group on which there is a pseudocharacter. For such products we obtain a similar result about the conditions of existence of nontrivial pseudocharacters invariant with respect to certain endomorphisms.  相似文献

Let and be respectively the free topological group and the free Abelian topological group on a Tychonoff space . For every natural number we denote by () the subset of () consisting of all words of reduced length . It is well known that if a space is not discrete, then neither nor is Fréchet-Urysohn, and hence first countable. On the other hand, it is seen that both and are Fréchet-Urysohn for a paracompact Fréchet-Urysohn space . In this paper, we prove first that for a metrizable space , () is Fréchet-Urysohn if and only if the set of all non-isolated points of is compact and is Fréchet-Urysohn if and only if is compact or discrete. As applications, we characterize the metrizable space such that is Fréchet-Urysohn for each and is Fréchet-Urysohn for each except for . In addition, however, there is a first countable, and hence Fréchet-Urysohn subspace of () which is not contained in any (). We shall show that if such a space is first countable, then it has a special form in (). On the other hand, we give an example showing that if the space is Fréchet-Urysohn, then it need not have the form.

This work gives a new approach to the construction of implicit operations. By considering ``higher-dimensional' spaces of implicit operations and implicit operators between them, the projection of idempotents back to one-dimensional spaces produces implicit operations with interesting properties. Besides providing a wealth of examples of implicit operations which can be obtained by these means, it is shown how they can be used to deduce from results of Ribes and Zalesski, Margolis, Sapir and Weil, and Steinberg that the pseudovariety of -groups is tame. More generally, for a recursively enumerable extension closed pseudovariety of groups , if it can be decided whether a finitely generated subgroup of the free group with the pro- topology is dense, then is tame.

After the classification of flag-transitive linear spaces, attention has now turned to line-transitive linear spaces. Such spaces are first divided into the point-imprimitive and the point-primitive, the first class is usually easy by the theorem of Delandtsheer and Doyen. The primitive ones are now subdivided, according to the O'Nan-Scotte theorem and some further work by Camina, into the socles which are an elementary abelian or non-abelian simple. In this paper, we consider the latter. Namely, T≤G≤Aut(T) and G acts line-transitively on finite linear spaces, where T is a non-abelian simple. We obtain some useful lemmas. In particular, we prove that when T is isomorphic to 3D4(q), then T is line-transitive, where q is a power of the prime p.  相似文献

A subgroup having non-empty intersection with each class of conjugate elements of the group is said to be conjugately dense. It is shown that, under certain conditions, the number of conjugately dense subgroups in a free product with amalgamation is not less than some cardinal. As a consequence, P. Neumann’s conjecture in the Kourovka notebook (Question 6.38) is refuted. It is also stated that a modular group and a non-Abelian group of countable or finite rank possess continuum many pairwise non-conjugate conjugately dense subgroups. We show that every non-amenable free product of groups admits free ergodic probability measure preserving actions which have relative property (T) in the sense of S. Popa (2006) [Pop06, Def. 4.1]. There are continuum many such actions up to orbit equivalence and von Neumann equivalence, and they may be chosen to be conjugate to any prescribed action when restricted to the free factors. We exhibit also, for every non-amenable free product of groups, free ergodic probability measure preserving actions whose associated equivalence relation has trivial outer automorphisms group. This gives, in particular, the first examples of such actions for the free group on 2 generators.  相似文献

We extend the Ruzhansky-Turunen theory of pseudo-differential operators on compact Lie groups into a tool that can be used to investigate group-valued Markov processes in the spirit of the work in Euclidean spaces of N. Jacob and collaborators. Feller semigroups, their generators and resolvents are exhibited as pseudo-differential operators and the symbols of the operators forming the semigroup are expressed in terms of the Fourier transform of the transition kernel. The symbols are explicitly computed for some examples including the Feller processes associated to stochastic flows arising from solutions of stochastic differential equations on the group driven by Lévy processes. We study a family of Lévy-type linear operators on general Lie groups that are pseudo-differential operators when the group is compact and find conditions for them to give rise to symmetric Dirichlet forms.  相似文献

The notion of hyperdecidability has been introduced by the firstauthor as a tool to prove decidability of semidirect productsof pseudovarieties of semigroups. In this paper we considersome stronger notions which lead to improved decidability resultsallowing us in turn to establish the decidability of some iteratedsemidirect products. Roughly speaking, the decidability of asemidirect product follows from a mild, commonly verified propertyof the first factor plus the stronger property for all the otherfactors. In this paper we establish the stability of Jensen’s functional equation on some classes of groups. We prove that Jensen equation is stable on noncommutative groups such as metabelian groups and T (2, K), where K is an arbitrary commutative field with characteristic different from two. We also prove that any group A can be embedded into some group G such that the Jensen functional equation is stable on G.  相似文献
