Nitrogen and lanthanum co-doped titania photocatalysts were prepared by a modified sol–gel process with urea and lanthanum nitrate doping precursors and characterized by various techniques including XRD, FTIR, TEM, EDS, and UV–Vis DRS. The average crystallite size was ca. 12–15 nm as calculated from XRD patterns, and anatase was the dominant crystalline type in the as-prepared samples. The UV–Vis DRS of the samples revealed significant absorption within the range of 400–500 nm. The optimum composition of N(0.020)La(0.012)TiO2 exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity for degradation of methyl orange (MO) aqueous solution under simulated sunlight. The percent degradation of MO was ca. 97% for N(0.020)La(0.012)TiO2 under simulated sunlight irradiation for 9 h. The enhanced photocatalytic activity was ascribed to the synergistic effects of the nitrogen and lanthanum co-doping.  相似文献

In this work bimodal structured titanium dioxide (TiO2) microsphere has been prepared from commercial TiO2 powder and nano-sized titania gel via sol–gel spray-coating technique. Crystallization and transformation behavior of titania gel were investigated. The results revealed that the crystallization and transformation of anatase particles were substantially affected by the concentration of solvent and calcination temperature. Anatase crystallite size of 10 nm was obtained at mole ratio of solvent/precursor 50/1 and calcination temperature of 450 °C. The prepared nano-sized titania gel was embedded within the core (commercial TiO2, P25) during the spraying process. The prepared TiO2 microsphere was characterized using X-ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), field emission electron microscope (FESEM) and micropore analysis. The photocatalytic activity was monitored by following the degradation of phenol with activity benchmarked against commercial P25 (Degussa). The increase of photocatalytic activity of TiO2 microsphere was attributed to the nano-sized anatase crystallite which has been incorporated into the TiO2 microsphere.  相似文献

TiO2 nanopowders doped by Si and Zr were prepared by sol–gel method. The effects of Si and Zr doping on the structural, optical, and photo-catalytic properties of titania nanopowders have been studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and UV–Vis absorption spectroscopy. XRD results suggest that adding impurities has a significant effect on anatase phase stability, crystallinity, and particle size of TiO2. Titania rutile phase formation in ternary system (Ti–Si–Zr) was inhibited by Zr4+ and Si4+ co-doped TiO2 in high temperatures (500–900 °C) and 36 mol% anatase composition is retained even after calcination at 1,000 °C. The photocatalyst activity was evaluated by photocatalytic degradation kinetics of aqueous methylen orange under visible radiation. The results show that the photocatalytic activity of the 20 %Si and 15 %Zr co-doped TiO2 nanopowders have a larger degradation efficiency than pure TiO2 under visible light.  相似文献

The photocatalytic activity of TiO2 nanofibers immobilized on quartz substrates was investigated by evaluating the decomposition of organic pollutants. TiO2 nanofibers were synthesized by electrospinning the Ti-precursor/polymer mixture solution, followed by hot-pressing for enhancing the adhesion of TiO2-nanofiber films to the substrates. TiO2 started to crystalize in the anatase form at 500 °C and reached the optimal photocatalytic anatase/rutile phase ratio of 70:30 at a calcination temperature of 600 °C. The TiO2-nanofiber film was demonstrated to be an efficient photocatalyst by ranitidine decomposition under UV illumination and was proven to have a comparable photocatalytic activity with the well-known Degussa P25 nanoparticulate photocatalyst and excellent recyclability during 10 cycles of photocatalytic operation, indicating no loss of TiO2 nanofibers during photocatalytic operations.  相似文献

Heterogeneous photocatalytic degradation of N-containing R6G dye was achieved by visible light-activated carbon doped TiO2 (C-TiO2) nanoparticles, synthesized by a low-temperature wet-chemical technique using glucose as carbon source. The structural and physicochemical properties of C-TiO2 were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-vis DRS) and FT-IR spectroscopy. Compared with the pure TiO2, the carbon modified nanomaterials exhibited enhanced absorption in the broad visible-light region together with an apparent red shift in the optical absorption edge. The resulting carbon-doped TiO2 catalyst was employed as an effective photocatalyst for degradation of Rhodamine 6G (R6G) in aqueous solutions under visible light irradiation (λ > 420 nm). In addition, the intrinsic mechanism of visible light-induced photocatalytic oxidation of organic compounds on the carbon-doped titania was proposed and discussed.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline mesoporous TiO2 was synthesized by hydrothermal method using titanium butoxide as starting material. XRD, SEM, and TEM analyses revealed that the synthesized TiO2 had anatase structure with crystalline size of about 8 nm. Moreover, the synthesized titania possessed a narrow pore size distribution with average pore diameter and high specific surface area of 215 m2/g. The photocatalytic activity of synthesized TiO2 was evaluated with photocatalytic H2 production from water-splitting reaction. The photocatalytic activity of synthesized TiO2 treated with appropriate calcination temperature was considerably higher than that of commercial TiO2 (Ishihara ST-01). The utilization of mesoporous TiO2 photocatalyst with high crystallinity of anatase phase promoted great H2 production. Furthermore, the reaction temperature significantly influences the water-splitting reaction.  相似文献

A magnetic TiO2/ZnFe2O4 photocatalyst was prepared by a sol-gel method, and X-ray diffraction (XRD), magnetic and photocatalytic properties analysis were employed to characterize this photocatalyst. The XRD results show that ZnFe2O4 can prevent the transformation of titania from anatase to rutile. The magnetic properties analysis indicates that TiO2/ZnFe2O4 is of large saturation magnetization value and low coercivity. The photocatalytic experimental results show that TiO2/ZnFe2O4=3 and 4 are superior in photocatalytic reactivity to other proportions. TEM shows that TiO2/ZnFe2O4 has a fine core-shell fabric. After being used for four times during the photocatalytic reaction, the TiO2/ZnFe2O4 nanoparticles have good photocatalytic stability.  相似文献

Degradation of dibutyl phosphate (DBP) in aqueous solution was successfully demonstrated in this paper using nanoparticles of anatase titania. Nanocrystalline anatase titania employed for the degradation study was synthesized in house by solgel route under stirring mode using titanium ethoxide precursor. The catalyst was characterized using XRD, DRS, BET, TEM, TG–DTA and Raman spectroscopy to establish the catalytic activity and surface morphology. A cylindrical photoreactor was used for the photocatalytic experiments. 10 mg of nano anatase titania and 0.5 mL of 30 % H2O2 were used as catalysts for the degradation of 1,000 mL of 240 mg/L DBP. Ion chromatographic procedure was used for following the DBP degradation. More than 95 % of DBP degradation could be in less than 45 min and the kinetics of DBP was found to follow pseudo first order. It was demonstrated that the photocatalytic efficiency of the synthesized titania was better than P-25 titania.  相似文献

UV-photocatalytic oxidation of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-d) was studied on Silver–TiO2 semiconductors prepared by co-gelling silver acetylacetonate and titanium butoxide (TiO2–Ag) or by incipient impregnation with silver acetylacetonate (0.5 wt% Ag) of bare TiO2 sol–gel and TiO2–P25 supports. The comparative study shows that only a slight modification on the specific surface area was obtained on the TiO2–Ag sample (60 m2/g) as compared to the TiO2 sol–gel bare support (65 m2/g). XRD patterns of the samples show anatase as the crystalline phase present in the sol–gel TiO2 preparations. By means of HRTEM and HAADF-STEM electron microscopy techniques, silver nanoparticles (<12.0 nm) were identified which are very small to be detected by XRD. The photocatalytic oxidation of the herbicide 2,4-d used as a model of contaminant show for the kinetic parameter t1/2 values of 45 min for the TiO2–Ag sample, while for the impregnated Ag/TiO2 and Ag/P25 nanomaterials t1/2 was 124 and 66 min, respectively. The higher photoactivity of the TiO2–Ag photocatalyst is attributed to a combined effect of the silver nanoparticles in interaction with the titania semiconductor.  相似文献

A comparative study of TiO2 powders prepared by sol–gel methods is presented. Titanium tetraisopropoxide was used as the precursor for the sol–gel processes. The effects of the annealing treatment on phase, crystallite size, porosity and photodegradation of dyes (methyl orange and methylene blue) were studied. The phase structure, microstructure and surface properties of the films were characterized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). The X-ray diffraction was used for crystal phase identification, for the accurate estimation of the anatase–rutile ratio and for the crystallite size evaluation of each polymorph in the samples. It was found that the only TiO2 anatase phase of the synthesized TiO2 develops below 500 °C, between 600 and 800 °C the anatase coexist with rutile and above 800 °C only the rutile phase was found in the samples. Attention has been paid not only to crystal structures, but also to the porosity, the particle size and the photocatalytic properties. However, the annealing temperature was found to have significant influence on the photocatalytic properties. Different TiO2 doctor blade thin films were obtained mixing the sol gel powder (100% anatase) and TiO2 Aldrich with TiO2 Degussa P25. The surfactant (Triton X100 or sodium dodecyl sulfate) affects the packing density of the particles during deposition and the photocatalytic degradation efficiency of the dyes. The photocatalytic degradation kinetics of methyl orange and methylene blue using TiO2 thin film were investigated.  相似文献

Exploiting advanced photocatalysts under visible light is of primary significance for the development of environmentally relevant photocatalytic decontamination processes. In this study, the ionic liquid (IL), 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, was employed for the first time as both a structure‐directing agent and a dopant for the synthesis of novel fluorinated B/C‐codoped anatase TiO2 nanocrystals (TIL) through hydrothermal hydrolysis of tetrabutyl titanate. These TIL nanocrystals feature uniform crystallite and pore sizes and are stable with respect to phase transitions, crystal ripening, and pore collapse upon calcination treatment. More significantly, these nanocrystals possess abundant localized states and strong visible‐light absorption in a wide range of wavelengths. Because of synergic interactions between titania and codopants, the calcined TIL samples exhibited high visible‐light photocatalytic activity in the presence of oxidizing Rhodamine B (RhB). In particular, 300 °C‐calcined TIL was most photocatalytically active; its activity was much higher than that of TiO1.98N0.02 and reference samples (TW) obtained under identical conditions in the absence of ionic liquid. Furthermore, the possible photocatalytic oxidation mechanism and the active species involved in the RhB degradation photocatalyzed by the TIL samples were primarily investigated experimentally by using different scavengers. It was found that both holes and electrons, as well as their derived active species, such as .OH, contributed to the RhB degradation occurring on the fluorinated B/C‐codoped TiO2 photocatalyst, in terms of both the photocatalytic reaction dynamics and the reaction pathway. The synthesis of the aforementioned novel photocatalyst and the identification of specific active species involved in the photodegradation of dyes could shed new light on the design and synthesis of semiconductor materials with enhanced photocatalytic activity towards organic pollutants.  相似文献

Crystalline anatase phase TiO2 with photocatalytic properties was obtained through a sol–gel low-temperature hydrothermal process. TiO2 samples doped with tungsten oxide were also obtained by using this synthetic approach. The photocatalytic oxidation of methylene blue in water was monitored to study the influence of the tungsten doping degree on the photocatalytic degradation performance of TiO2. The degradation rate constant was further increased by adjusting the tungsten doping degree of hydrothermal TiO2. Also, a much faster photodegradation of methylene blue was achieved using tungsten doped samples baked at 450°C. The results were compared with those obtained with Degussa P25 used as photocatalyst. The structure and optical properties of tungsten-doped TiO2 were studied by SEM, X-ray diffraction, UV–vis and DRIFT spectroscopy techniques.  相似文献

A copper(II) and iron(III) co-modified titanium dioxide nano material was prepared by a simple sol–gel process using titanium(IV) isopropoxide plus copper(II) and iron(III) nitrates as raw materials. The as-prepared nanocomposites were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and photoluminescence spectra. The XRD results showed that the undoped TiO2 nanoparticles mainly include anatase phase while the Cu, Fe-codoped TiO2 nanoparticles showed a mixture of anatase phase with a small fraction of rutile phase displaying higher activity than the pure anatase phase. Optical characterization showed that the codoping with copper(II) and iron(III) resulted in a red shift of adsorption and lower recombination probability between electrons and holes, which were associated with high photocatalytic activity of the Cu, Fe-codoped TiO2 nanoparticles under visible light (λ > 400 nm). The photocatalytic activity of the samples was tested by aqueous methyl orange degradation. The capability of the codoped catalyst was much higher than that of the pure TiO2 catalyst under visible irradiation. A mechanism is proposed in order to account for the enhanced catalytic activity.  相似文献

It has been found that the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 toward the decomposition of gaseous benzene can be greatly enhanced by loading TiO2 on the surface of SrAl2O4: Eu2+, Dy3+ using sol–gel technology. The prepared photocatalyst was characterized by BET, XRD, and XPS analyses. XRD results reveal that the peaks of titania in either rutile or anatase form are not detected by XRD in the 2θ region from 20° to 50°. The binding energy values of Ti 2p of pure TiO2 are 458.90 and 464.60 eV, while for TiO2/SrAl2O4: Eu2+, Dy3+, the binding energy values of Ti 2p are 458.50 and 464.20 eV. The results indicate that the optimum loading of TiO2 is 1 wt% and TiO2/SrAl2O4: Eu2+, Dy3+ (1 wt%) demonstrates 1.4 times the photocatalytic activity of that of pure TiO2, but the underlying mechanism of SrAl2O4: Eu2+, Dy3+ in the photocatalytic reaction remains to be unraveled.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline TiO2 powders in the anatase, rutile, and mixed phases prepared by hydrolysis of TiCl4 solution were of ultrafine size (<7.2 nm) with high specific surface areas in the range 167 to 388 m2/g. In the photocatalytic degradation of phenol as model reaction, the photocatalytic properties of TiO2 nanoparticles were evaluated by use of UV–vis absorption spectroscopy and total organic carbon (TOC) content. The synthetic mixed-phase TiO2 powder calcined at 400 °C had higher activity than pure anatase or rutile; it degraded more than 90% phenol to CO2 (evaluated by TOC) after irradiation with near UV light for 90 min at a catalyst loading of 0.4 g/L. The TOC results indicated that rutile TiO2 crystallites of particle size 7.2 nm resulted in much better photocatalytic performance than particles of larger size. This result suggested that some intermediates, not determined by UV–vis absorption spectroscopy, existed in the solution after the photocatalytic process over the rutile TiO2 photocatalysts of larger crystallite size.  相似文献

Titania thin films were synthesized by sol–gel dip-coating method with metallic Ni nanoparticles synthesized separately from an organometallic precursor Ni(COD)2 (COD = cycloocta-1,5-diene) in presence of 1,3-diaminopropane as a stabilizer. Titania was obtained from a titanium isopropoxide precursor solution in presence of acetic acid. A Ni/TiO2 sol system was used to coat glass substrate spheres (6, 4 and 3 mm diameter sizes), and further heat treatment at 400 °C was carried out to promote the crystallization of titania. XRD analysis of the TiO2 films revealed the crystallization of the anatase phase. Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and High Resolution TEM studies of Ni nanoparticles before mixing with the TiO2 solution revealed the formation of Ni nanostructures with an average size of 5–10 nm. High-angle annular dark-field images of the Ni/TiO2 system revealed well-dispersed Ni nanoparticles supported on TiO2 and confirmed by AFM analysis. The photocatalytic activity of the Ni/TiO2 films was evaluated in hydrogen evolution from the decomposition of ethanol using a mercury lamp for UV light irradiation. Titania films in presence of Ni nanoparticles show higher efficiency in their photocatalytic properties in comparison with TiO2.  相似文献

Cu and N-doped TiO2 photocatalysts were synthesized from titanium (IV) isopropoxide via a microwave-assisted sol-gel method. The synthesized materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, UV-vis diffuse reflectance, photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, SEM, TEM, FT-IR, Raman spectroscopy, photocurrent measurement technique, and nitrogen adsorption–desorption isotherms. Raman spectra and XRD showed an anatase phase structure. The SEM and TEM images revealed the formation of an almost spheroid mono disperse TiO2 with particle sizes in the range of 9-17 nm. Analysis of N2 isotherm measurements showed that all investigated TiO2 samples have mesoporous structures with high surface areas. The optical absorption edge for the doped TiO2 was significantly shifted to the visible light region. The photocurrent and photocatalytic activity of pure and doped TiO2 were evaluated with the degradation of methyl orange (MO) and methylene blue (MB) solution under both UV and visible light illumination. The doped TiO2 nanoparticles exhibit higher catalytic activity under each of visible light and UV irradiation in contrast to pure TiO2. The photocatalytic activity and photocurrent ability of TiO2 have been enhanced by doping of the titania in the following order: (Cu, N) - codoped TiO2 > N-doped TiO2 > Cu-doped TiO2 > TiO2. COD result for (Cu, N)-codoped TiO2 reveals ∼92% mineralization of the MO dye on six h of visible light irradiation.  相似文献

TiO2 photocatalytic powders were synthesized by a sol–gel combustion synthesis method in which urea was used as the fuel and titanyl nitrate was used as the oxidizer. Various fuel-to-oxidizer ratios were studied for their effects on the combustion phenomena and the properties of the synthesized TiO2. The fuel-to-oxidizer ratio was found to determine the maximum combustion temperature, which in turn affects the specific surface area, crystallite size, and weight fraction of anatase phase of the synthesized TiO2. The synthesized TiO2 all contain carbonaceous species and are either pure anatase or anatase–rutile mixed phase in crystalline structure. The photocatalytic activity of the TiO2 was found to correlate to a certain degree with the specific surface area, crystallite size, weight fraction of anatase phase, and visible and IR absorbances. The mixed phase TiO2 shows a higher photocatalytic activity than the pure anatase phase TiO2 when containing a small fraction (<~25 wt%) of rutile phase but a lower phoyocatalytic activity when containing a large fraction (>~25 wt%) of rutile phase. The synthesized TiO2 all show higher photocatalytic activity than Degussa P25 TiO2. The enhanced photocatalytic activity was attributed mainly to sensitization by the carbonaceous species and larger amounts of hydroxyl group adsorbed on the TiO2 surface.  相似文献

Thermogravimetry-differential thermal analysis, emanation thermal analysis, mass spectrometry detection, Fourier transform infrared and XRD were used to characterize thermal behaviour of titanium dioxide photocatalyst precursors prepared by precipitation at various conditions from peroxotitanic acid sols. The transmission electron microscopy HRTEM technique was used to characterize the surface microstructure. The sols contained TiO2 anatase particles of approximately 10 nm in diameter. During heating of the air dried samples, their chemical degradation took place giving rise to anatase. On further heating, the crystallization of anatase and formation of rutile phase was observed. To test the photocatalytic activity of the samples, the decomposition of 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) under ultraviolet and visible irradiation was monitored. It was shown that photocatalytic activities of the samples are comparable to the Degussa P25 photocatalyst reference material.  相似文献
