Doubly charged ion mass spectra for 15 aromatic hydrocarbons have been obtained using a Nier-Johnson geometry, Hitachi RMU-7L mass spectrometer operating at 1.6 kV accelerating voltage. The doubly charged ion spectra have features that are characteristic of the individual compounds. Unsaturated aromatic molecules show intense molecular ions in contrast to saturated, substituted or heteroatom compounds which undergo extensive fragmentation. Ionization energies for forming doubly charged molecular ions and appearance energies for the prominent doubly charged fragment ions have been measured. Calculations of the SCF energies and structures of various doubly charged ions have been carried out. Measured and calculated ionization/appearance energies are in reasonable accord and lend support to the suggested ion structures.  相似文献

Doubly charged ion mass spectra were obtained for 46 low molecular weight oxygen containing compounds. A double focusing Hitachi RMU-7L mass spectrometer, operated at 3.2 kV accelerating voltage, was used to measure spectra for aliphatic alcohol, ketone, ether, aldehyde, ester and acid molecules, as well as several aromatic oxygen containing compounds. In general, the spectra were dominated by fragment ions which resulted from extensive H loss and C? C bond rupture as well as O elimination from the doubly charged molecular ions. Total product ion intensities from doubly charged ion spectra of aliphatic oxygen containing compounds were approximately 1% of the corresponding total ion intensity in the benzene doubly charged ion spectrum. Appearance energies for forming prominent doubly charged molecular and fragment ions were determined. Measured values ranged from 26 to 45 eV. A geometry optimized quantum mechanical SCF treatment was used to compute the energies, charge densities and structures for several of these oxygen containing doubly charged ions.  相似文献

The technique of ion kinetic energy spectroscopy has been applied to the study of the aromatic hydrocarbons benzene, toluene, naphthalene, 2-methyl naphthalene, biphenyl and anthracene. The method is illustrated by a complete study of naphthalene in which transitions of metastable doubly- and singly-charged ions are listed, including reactions in which singly-charged ions are formed by collision induced charge-exchange reactions of doubly-charged ions and by the double process of charge-exchange and metastable decomposition with loss of one or two hydrogen atoms. Decompositions of doubly-charged ions into two singly-charged ions, together with the kinetic energies released in these decompositions, are also given for all the compounds studied.  相似文献

The mass spectra of oligosaccharides such as glucose, sucrose, lactose and raffinose obtained by static secondary ion mass spectrometry operated at 10?6 Torr are presented. Cationized molecular ions are observed in high intensity. Secondary ion mass spectrometry for oligopeptides, such as tri-tetra-, penta- and hexapeptides, and bioactive peptides, are presented. Quasimolecular ions and cationized molecules were observed, together with many kinds of fragments, which were helpful in structural assignments. Secondary ion mass spectrometry did not prove to be dependent on temperature. Thermal migration of samples on a surface was observed at high temperature. Secondary ion mass spectra obtained with a silver substrate and an aluminium substrate are compared.  相似文献

Methane or a methane–oxygen mixture was used as an enhancement gas to obtain negative ion mass spectra of polychloroanisoles. Dichloroanisoles did not react with oxygen but the more highly chlorinated anisoles did. Compounds with hydrogen ortho to the methoxy group had [M? 1]? ions, while others gave . The fragment arose through loss of an ortho chlorine and amethyl hydrogen. The loss of HCl followed by oxygen displacement of a remaining ortho or para chlorine produced [M? 55]? ions; the para position was the preferred site of displacement. Another ion-molecule reaction with oxygen leads to [M? CH2Cl]?. The fragmentations resemble those of chlorinated aromatics such as the polychlorodibenzodioxins.  相似文献

Negative ion chemical ionization (NICI) mass spectra with methane as reagent gas and the ion abundance ratios of the negative to the positive base peak for 51 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and related compounds were measured and evaluated for highly sensitive detection and isomer differentiation. Either [M ? H]?, M?˙ or MH? was the base peak, except for one compound with [M ? H2]?˙ as its base peak. The numbers of compounds with [M ? H]?, M?˙ or MH? as their base peaks were 17, 26 and 7, respectively. Many of the compounds with [M ? H]? as the base peak had an aliphatic part in their structure. The average value of N/P (negative/positive ion abundance ratio at the base peaks) was < 1. Many of the compounds with M?˙ as the base peak had a relatively high electron affinity. A correlation between electron affinities and ion abundances was found. In most cases, the N/P ratios were > 1, and even reached 400 in benzo [a] pyrene. Many of the compounds with MH? as their base peaks had a phenyl group, in which cases the N/P ratios were < 1. In the case of compounds with 18 or fewer carbon atoms, in particular, it was easy to distinguish isomers by comparing their NICI mass spectra. The N/P values served as a guideline in sensitive detection. Nine compounds achieved an N/P of ≥50.  相似文献

The negative ion mass spectra of methanol, methanol-d and trideuteromethanol have been measured at 70 eV. Use of deuterated methanols has enabled the ion at m/e 31 to be identified as CH3O? and not CH2OH?. Isotope effects have been determined for H? and D? formation, and for OH? and OD? formation. It has been shown that OH? formation occurs as a rearrangement reaction as well as by simple C? O bond fission.  相似文献

The negative ion mass spectra of dicarboxylic acids show [M]?˙ and prominent [M – H]?ions. These ions can therefore be used to determine the molecular weight of dicarboxylic acids which do not give positive molecular ions. The [C2H3]? ion is a base peak in the spectra of maleic and fumaric acids. Isomeric phthalic acids are readily differentiated.  相似文献

The mass spectra of the seven isomeric methylindoles were recorded and the [metastable ion]/[daughter ion] ratios for the reactions m/e 130 → m/e 103 and m/e 103 → m/e 77 have been obtained. The ratios indicate that the decomposing [M — 1] ions (m/e 130) from the 4, 5, 6 and 7 isomers are energetically similar as are the [M — 1] ions from the 2 and 3 isomers. The results observed for the m/e → 103 m/e 77 reaction showed that the decomposing m/e 103 ions from the 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 isomers all have the same energy distribution. N-Methylindole gave ratios which were similar to the 4 to 7 isomers at 70eV but different at 20 eV. The ion kinetic energy (IKE) spectra of all the isomeric methylindoles were also obtained and the results compared with the data obtained from the [metastable ion]/[daughter ion] approach. The results from the IKE spectra indicated that the energy distributions of the [M — 1] and [(M — 1) — HCN] ions from 1-methylindole and the [(M — 1) — HCN] ions from 2-methylindole could readily be distinguished from other isomers whose [metastable ion]/[daughter ion] ratios were similar. Thus by using both techniques certain ambiguities can be resolved.  相似文献

The secondary ion mass spectra (s.i.m.s.) of the most widely used therapeutic monoquaternary pyridine aldoximes and diquaternary pyridine aldoximes, as well as some related monoquaternary ammonium salts and neutral oximes, are reported. The monoquaternary derivatives of the oximes yield prominent intact cations which provide molecular weights, and fragmentation patterns which are dominated by even-electron ions. The diquaternary oximes investigated do not give dications, but rather undergo charge separation reactions sometimes accompanied by intramolecular aromatic substitution, and they sometimes yield monoquaternaries by expulsion of a proton. The s.i. mass spectra are structure-specific for the monoquaternary salts, allowing isomer distinction in the cases examined. Quaternary salts can be quantified by s.i.m.s., and low detection limits (less than 50 ng) are demonstrated here for the oxime salts; thus s.i.m.s. is an appropriate analytical technique for the title compounds. Procedures of derivatization which convert the neutral amines to ionic compounds, such as quaternization with alkyl halides, provide a simple means of obtaining high-quality s.i.m.s.  相似文献

Rules for the behavior under fast atom bombardment (FAB) have been established for 15 cationic dyes — quaternary ammonium salts of heterocyclic amines and heterocycles containing quaternary nitrogen atoms with aliphatic substituents. Intense peaks corresponding to the molecular mass of the cationic part of the dyes [M-Hal]+ are observed in the spectra of all the derivatives. Fragmentation of the azodyes is determined by the azo group and the heterocyle. The base peaks in the case of compounds containing a quaternary nitrogen atom with aliphatic substituents correspond to the ammonium ion and a fragment of amine type. Doubly charged ion mass spectra have been obtained for 11 organophosphorus compounds. Methane has been used as a target gas to increase the probability of single electron transfer collisions in the first field-free region of an Hitachi RMU-7L mass spectrometer. In general, the spectra of organophosphorus compounds do not exhibit molecular ions but are dominated by fragment ions, many of which must be formed by rearrangement processes. A geometry-optimized self-consistent field molecular orbital method has been employed to compute energies and structural parameters for prominent ions. In addition, a diabatic curve crossing model has been used to examine the single electron transfer reactions responsible for intense ions in the doubly charged ion mass spectra. Appearance energies measured for ions prominent in the 2E spectra of organophosphorus compounds have ranged from 23 to 38 eV.  相似文献

The negative ion mass spectra of highly fluorinated molecules with varying functionality are discussed. Attempts to obtain negative molecular ions where no positive molecular ion was observed met with little success. An interesting structural correlation for fluorinated ethers was developed based upon the observation of the abundant perfluoro alkoxide anions, CF3O? and CF3(CF2)2O?, in the negative ion mass spectrum.  相似文献
