We examine the value n(i)/n(eff)(theta(t)) , the ratio of the indices of refraction for waves transmitted from an isotropic medium to an anisotropic medium. It is found that total reflection can occur in the case of propagation from a rarer medium to a denser medium.  相似文献

The intensity distribution of a nonuniform electric field in a quadrupole electrooptic deflector, the properties of the medium in which are described simultaneously by permittivity and conductivity tensors which are not proportional to each other, is calculated as a function of the phase of the ac control voltage. It is shown that the space charge arising in this case is phase-shifted relative to the control voltage. The computational results are compared with experimental data. Zh. Tekh. The effect of an applied magnetic field on the optical properties of a layer of a helical periodic medium is studied in view of magnetooptic activity. The case when the radiation is normally incident on the layer and the magnetic field is aligned with the axis of the medium is considered. Irreversibility (nonreciprocity) effects in such a system are discussed. The situations with weak and high anisotropy are investigated. It is shown that the system can function as an optical shutter, optical diode, or one-side reflector. Reasons for the high irreversibility of transmission (reflection) are found.  相似文献

The deformations of a real dielectric droplet subjected to a uniform alternating electric field and immersed in an insulating fluid are numerically studied by the Boundary Element Method. The alternating electric field time scale is taken much smaller than the hydrodynamic time scale of the droplet shape deformation. The influence of the frequency and the conductivity of the droplet upon the critical electric field, beyond which instabilities develop, are compared with the experimental measurements. Numerical results well account for experimental data while an unexpected good correspondence with Taylor's theory is found.  相似文献

The kinetics of charge gratings induced by a standing light wave in a photorefractive crystal in the presence of an electric field is described correctly. It obeys an ordinary differential equation of the fourth order that has two pairs of complex conjugate solutions. A general solution to this equation that satisfies a given initial condition is derived. The field-related mechanism causing charge oscillations and extending the time the gratings take to pass into the steady state is revealed. A relation between these oscillations and space-charge waves is found.  相似文献

The problem of finding the potential function in a weakly conductive anisotropic medium for an assigned distribution of the potential on the boundary and sinusoidal variation with time is solved. A new treatment of the problem of a two-dimensional Wannier-Mott exciton in a uniform electric field, based on the parabolic coordinates, is presented. The quasi-stationary Hamiltonian is regularized, and the efficient numerical methods are applied. The dependence of the exciton binding energy on the electric field is computed. We theoretically analyze waves propagating between an isotropic medium and an anisotropic medium. Closely examining the boundary condition reveals that the phenomenon of nonsymmetrical reflection occurs when the wave propagates from an anisotropic to an isotropic medium. Calculating the reflection of thin films requires correcting the phase change in each reflected trip in the Airy formula. Analytical results of measurement of the elliptical surface of a wave-vector distribution in an anisotropic medium indicate that reflection and transmission still occur when the reflected and the refracted angles are larger than 90 degrees .  相似文献
