We consider the model and approximating Hamiltonians directly in the case of infinite volume. We show that each of these Hamiltonians has two branches of the spectrum and two systems of eigenvectors, which represent excitations of the ground states of the model and approximating Hamiltonians as well as the ground states themselves. On both systems of eigenvectors, the model and approximating Hamiltonians coincide with one another. In both branches of the spectrum, there is a gap between the eigenvalues of the ground and excited states.  相似文献

Bogolyubov proved that the average energies (per unit volume) of the ground states for the BCS Hamiltonian and the approximating Hamiltonian asymptotically coincide in the thermodynamic limit. In the present paper, we show that this result is also true for all excited states. We also establish that, in the thermodynamic limit, the BCS Hamiltonian and the approximating Hamiltonian asymptotically coincide as quadratic forms.  相似文献

We consider homogeneous Bose gas in a large cubic box with periodic boundary conditions, at zero temperature. We analyze its excitation spectrum in a certain kind of a mean-field infinite-volume limit. We prove that under appropriate conditions the excitation spectrum has the form predicted by the Bogoliubov approximation. Our result can be viewed as an extension of the result of Seiringer (Commun. Math. Phys. 306:565–578, 2011) to large volumes.  相似文献

We present in this paper detailed numerical Vlasov simulations of the Hamiltonian Mean-Field model. This model is used as a representative of the class of systems under long-range interactions. We check existing results on the stability of the homogeneous situation and analyze numerical properties of the semi-Lagrangian time-split algorithm for solving the Vlasov equation. The BCS Hamiltonian of superconductivity has the second branch of eigenvalues and eigenvectors. It consists of wave functions of pairs of electrons in ground and excited states. The continuous spectrum of excited pairs is separated by a nonzero gap from the point of the discrete spectrum that corresponds to the pair in the ground state. The corresponding grand partition function and free energy are exactly calculated. This implies that, for low temperatures, the system is in the condensate of pairs in the ground state. The sequence of correlation functions is exactly calculated in the thermodynamic limit, and it coincides with the corresponding sequence of the system with approximating Hamiltonian. The gap in the spectrum of excitations depends continuously on temperature and is different from zero above the critical temperature corresponding to the first branch of the spectrum. It says that the data have to be regularly varying at the end of their support with the same power. This criterion is also shown to be sufficient if the power is sufficiently small and for data which are close to self-similar.

In this article we extend the local stability result to the whole range of self-similar solutions with compact support. Our first main result establishes global stability of self-similar solutions with not too large power. The proof relies on a global contraction argument for the spreading of characteristics. In addition, we also establish upper and lower bounds for the coarsening rates of the system for a suitable class of initial data whose variation is bounded at the end of the support but not necessarily regular.  相似文献

We will investigate the point spectrum on the imaginary axis of the linearized Boltzmann operator with an external-force potential in a bounded domain whose boundary is sufficiently smooth. The boundary condition considered is the perfectly reflective boundary condition. The point spectrum on the imaginary axis is only equal to {0}. By relating the number of images of a function with finite domain to a certain parameter, we obtain both an upper and lower bound for the image set. Even though the arguments are elementary, the bounds are, in some sense, best possible. These bounds are then applied in several contexts. The dynamics is under study of a composite Hamiltonian system that is the union of a finite-dimensional nonlinear system and an infinite-dimensional linear system with quadratic interaction Hamiltonian. The dynamics of the finite-dimensional subsystem is determined by a nonlinear integro-differential equation with a relaxation kernel. We prove existence and uniqueness theorems and find a priori estimates for a solution. Under some assumptions on the form of interaction, the solution to the finite-dimensional subsystem converges to one of the critical points of the effective Hamiltonian.  相似文献

We study the interaction of moving localized oscillations with a local inhomogeneity in a discrete nonlinear Hamiltonian system. We conjecture that resonance with a static nonlinear localized oscillation centered at the local inhomogeneity is a necessary condition for observing the trapping phenomenon.
