The model of prefracture zones is generalized to a crack between two anisotropic materials. An exact analytical solution is found on the assumptions that the prefracture zone is localized on the crack continuation and that only the normal displacements undergo discontinuity in the zone. A mathematical model is constructed for crack nucleation in an isotropic fuel cell (heat-releasing solid material) attenuated
by a biperiodic system of cooling cylindrical channels with a circular cross section. Cracks are assumed to appear with increasing
heat-release intensity in the bulk of the material. The solution of the problem on equilibrium of an isotropic perforated
fuel cell with crack nuclei reduces to the solution of a nonlinear singular integral equation with a Cauchy-type kernel. The
solution of the latter equation yields the forces in the band of crack nucleation. The condition of crack nucleation is formulated
with allowance for the criterion of ultimate extension of bonds in the material.

Summary Thermal cracking in a ceramic/metal functionally graded plate is discussed. When a functionally graded plate is cooled from
high temperature, curved or straight crack paths are experimentally observed on the ceramic surface. One of the reasons that
make the crack paths to differ are the thermal or mechanical conditions. In order to clarify the influence of these conditions
on the crack path, the crack propagation is simulated using finite element method.

The magnetoelastic stress-strain problem for a transversely isotropic ferromagnetic body with an elliptical crack in the isotropy plane is solved explicitly. The body is in an external magnetic field perpendicular to the isotropy plane. The magnetic field induces elastic strains and an internal magnetic field in the body. The Wiener-Hopf method is used to study, under the conditions of plane strain, the direction of development of a thin fracture
process zone at the tip of an interfacial crack in a piecewise homogeneous isotropic elastoplastic body. The zone is modeled
by a straight line of tangential displacement discontinuity that emerges from the crack tip at an angle to the interface.
The dependences of the zone length and the angle on the load and other parameters of the problem are investigated

Summary In this paper, a survey on the orthotropic composite materials is given. The model of the interphase, assuming a third phase between fibre and matrix with some different properties, is used for the calculation of the elastic constants of a unidirectional fibre-reinforced epoxy resin composite. Their values are used to determine the stress field at the crack tip and the stress intensity factor of a cracked orthotropic plate. The present paper is devoted to determining the crack tip plasticity of a half-infinite Dugdale crack embedded in an infinite space of one-dimensional hexagonal quasicrystal. A pair of equal but opposite line loadings is assumed to be exerted on the upper and lower crack lips. By applying the Dugdale hypothesis together with the elastic results for a half-infinite crack, the extent of the plastic zone in the crack front is estimated. The normal stress outside the enlarged crack and crack surface displacements are explicitly presented, via the principle of superposition. Cohesive zone model was used to simulate two-dimensional plane strain crack propagation at the grain level model including grain boundary zones. Simulated results show that the original crack-tip may not be separated firstly in an elastic-viscoplastic polycrystals. The grain interior's material properties (e.g. strain rate sensitivity) characterize the competitions between plastic and cohesive energy dissipation mechanisms. The higher the strain rate sensitivity is, the larger amount of the external work is transformed into plastic dissipation energy than into cohesive energy, which delays the cohesive zone rupturing. With the strain rate sensitivity decreased, the material property tends to approach the elastic-plastic responses. In this case, the plastic dissipation energy decreases and the cohesive dissipation energy increases which accelerates the cohesive zones debonding. Increasing the cohesive strength or the critical separation displacement will reduce the stress triaxiality at grain interiors and grain boundaries. Enhancing the cohesive zones ductility can improve the matrix materials resistance to void damage. 相似文献

Crystallographic plasticity was applied to study the initiation of micro cracks on the smooth surface of polycrystalline under uniform applied stress. Even under the uniform external stress, due to the different crystallographic orientations of the grains in the polycrystalline, there is un-uniform stress distribution and the deformation is also not uniform.
