The paper deals with a problem of developing an inverse-scattering based formalism for solving problems for the cubic nonlinear (or the modified Korteweg–de Vries (KdV)) equations: q t +q xxx +6q 2 q x =0, 0x<, –<t<,q t +q xxx –6q 2 q x =0, with the given initial and boundary conditions: q(x,0)=q(x),q(0,t)=p(t), p(t)L 1(–,). The relation between the solution of the initial-boundary value problem (1), (3), (4) and that of the KdV equation on the half-line is shown. The Cauchy problem for the cubic nonlinear equation: q t +q xxx –6|q|2 q x =0, 0x<, –<t<, with the given initial condition (3) is considered also. Let S be a strongly continuous, separation-preserving representation of a locally compact abelian group G in Lp(), where 1p<, and is an arbitrary measure. We show that S is uniformly bounded with respect to the Lp-and L-norms if and only if it satisfies a certain boundedness condition for distribution functions. These equivalent conditions facilitate the transference from Lp(G) to Lp() of the a.e. convergence for a wide class of sequences of convolution operators. The result unifies and generalizes various aspects of ergodic theory--in particular, the ergodic singular integral operators and ergodic Hardy spaces.  相似文献

We investigate the relationship between the norm N G() of infinite subgroups of an infinite group G and the structure of this group. We prove that N G() is Abelian in the nonperiodic case, and a locally finite group is a finite extension of a quasicyclic subgroup if N G() is a non-Dedekind group. In both cases, we describe the structure of the group G under the condition that the subgroup N G() has finite index in G.  相似文献

For C a bounded, injective operator with dense image, we define a C-regularized spectral distribution. This produces a functional calculus, f f(B), from C() into the space of closed densely defined operators, such that f(B)C is bounded when f has compact support. As an analogue of Stone's theorem, we characterize certain regularized spectral distributions as corresponding to generators of polynomially bounded C-regularized groups. We represent the regularized spectral distribution in terms of the regularized group and in terms of the C-resolvent. Applications include the Schrödinger equation with potential, and symmetric hyperbolic systems, all on Lp(n) (1p<), C o(n), BUC(n), or any space of functions where translation is a bounded strongly continuous group.  相似文献

We explore subspaces of maximal operator spaces ( submaximal spaces) and give a new characterization of such spaces. We show that the set of n-dimensional submaximal spaces is closed in the topology of c.b. distance, but not compact. We also investigate subspaces of MAX(L ) and prove that any homogeneous Hilbertian subspace of MAX(L 1) is completely isomorphic to R + C.  相似文献

Estimates of stability of weighted differences in norms of Banach spaces are constructed. On the basis of these, corresponding estimates of stability in the norms of the spaces Ch and Lph, 1 P < , are obtained for difference schemes which approximate an initial-boundary value problem for the heat equation with boundary conditions of the first, second, and third kinds. We study distributions F on [0,) such that for some T , F *2(x, x+T] 2F(x, x+T]. The case T = corresponds to F being subexponential, and our analysis shows that the properties for T < are, in fact, very similar to this classical case. A parallel theory is developed in the presence of densities. A class of singular control problems involving amplitude constraints on the controls is examined. IfL is the space of control functionsU, the control constraint setS can be identified with the unit ball inL . Now, for anyn (1, ), an analogous problem may be set up withL n forU and the unit ball inL n forS. This modified problem is necessarily nonsingular for controllable systems. It is shown that, by takingn sufficiently large, the solution to the modified problem also solves the original problem arbitrarily closely (in a sense made precise). In this paper we first show that if X is a Banach space and is a left invariant crossnorm on lX, then there is a Banach lattice L and an isometric embedding J of X into L, so that I J becomes an isometry of lX onto lm J(X). Here I denotes the identity operator on l and lm J(X) the canonical lattice tensor product. This result is originally due to G. Pisier (unpublished), but our proof is different. We then use this to prove the main results which characterize the Gordon–Lewis property GL and related structures in terms of embeddings into Banach lattices.  相似文献

Every abelian groupG is topologically isomorphic to G 0 where 0 andG 0 is an abelian group where every compact subset is contained in a compact subgroup.
