Mixed monolayers of Schiff-base complex Cu(SBC18)2 with an octadecyl hydrocarbon chain and Calix[4]arene without a long alkyl chain at an air/water interface were studied in ultrapure water at different temperatures. Interface behavior and thermodynamic estimation of the mixed monolayer indicate that a strong intermolecular interaction exists between the mixed components (Cu(SBC18)2 and calix[4]arene) and the two-dimensional miscibility decreases with the molar fraction of Cu(SBC18)2. It is noticeable that the calix[4]arene monolayer can be transferred successfully onto solid substrates due to the introduction of Cu(SBC18)2. FTIR transmission and UV-Vis absorption spectra of mixed LB films provide further evidence of molecular interaction between the headgroups.  相似文献

The electronic effects resulting from noncovalent host-guest interactions between calix[6]arene and a ruthenium dimer, [Ru3O(OAc)6(CO)(ppy)]2-mu-pz (ppy=4-phenyl pyridine, pz=pyrazine), are presented. The noncovalent interaction is between the calix[6]arene and the ppy ligands of the dimer. The dimer can bind 2 equiv of calix[6]arene. The complex [Ru3O(OAc)6(CO)(ppy)]2-mu-pz forms a highly stable mixed valence ion with strong electronic coupling between the two Ru3 clusters. The strength of the electronic interaction is found to be moderated by calix[6]arene binding. Addition of calix[6]arene to the mixed valence ion causes the electronic coupling to decrease. The binding of calix[6]arene is found to be cooperative. The origins of cooperative binding are developed in terms of the potential energy surfaces associated with the symmetric and asymmetric mixed valence ion. In particular, it is found that symmetry breaking (through the binding of a single calix[6]arene) destabilizes the mixed valence state. Restoration of symmetry (through the binding of a second calix[6]arene) increases the stability of the mixed valence ion and provides an additional driving force for the binding of the second calix[6]arene.  相似文献

Calix[4]arenes substituted at their wide rim by four aryl urea residues (1) form hydrogen-bonded dimers in apolar solvents. Replacement of one urea residue by an acetamido moiety leads to calix[4]arene derivatives (5) which form hydrogen-bonded tetramers under the same conditions. Both self-assembly processes occur independently. Therefore, molecules have been prepared in which a tetra-urea calix[4]arene and a tri-urea mono acetamide derivative are covalently connected between their narrow rims by a long, mainly aliphatic chain [-O-(CH(2))(n)-C(O)-NH-(CH(2))(m)-O-] (7). In the presence of an equimolar amount of tetra-tosyl urea calix[4]arene () they form dendritic assemblies since the well known heterodimerization of tetra-tosyl and tetra-aryl urea calix[4]arenes prevents the formation of a cross-linked structure. Covalent connection of adjacent urea residues leads to tetra-loop derivatives (3) that cannot form homodimers, but instead form heterodimers with tetra-aryl or tetra-tosylureas. Therefore, similar dendrimers should be available using the selective dimerization observed for 3. The formation of a single, structurally uniform dendrimer from eight building blocks is confirmed by (1)H NMR spectra, showing only peaks that are also found for respective model assemblies. Translational diffusion coefficients of the assemblies have been determined using (1)H DOSY NMR.  相似文献

Deprotonation of calix[6]arenes with barium in methanol followed by the addition of [Ti(OPr(i))(4)] or [Zr(OBu(n))(4)] is effective in the formation of novel dimeric 2:1 barium-titanium(IV)/zirconium(IV) calix[6]arene complexes. In these complexes a central Ti(IV)/Zr(IV) coordinated in the exo-position connects the two calix[6]arenes in the 1,3-alternate conformation, each with an endo-barium sharing common phenolate groups with the titanium/zirconium centre and participating in cation-pi interactions. A homometallic barium calix[6]arene dimer was also prepared wherein the calix[6]arenes are in the 1,3-alternate conformation with each coordinating one endo- and one exo-barium centre. The exo-barium cations connect the two calix[6]arenes through bridging methanol ligands. In this and the heterometallic complexes, cation-pi complexation of the Ba(2+) ion within the 1,3 alternate conformation of calix[6]arene facilitates the formation of the dimeric complexes in methanol. In contrast, the smaller Sr(2+) ion did not form similar complexes in methanol, and the formation of an analogous 2:1 strontium-titanium calixarene complex required the use of the more sterically demanding donor alcohol, isopropanol, the resulting complex being devoid of cation-pi interaction. The results show (i) that a subtle interplay of solvation strength, coordination array type and cavity/cation size influences the accessibility of heterobimetallic complexes based on calix[6]arenes, and (ii) a synergistic endo-exo binding behaviour.  相似文献

Reactions of UCl4 with calix[n]arenes (n = 4, 6) in THF gave the mononuclear [UCl2(calix[4]arene - 2H)(THF)2].2THF (.2THF) and the bis-dinuclear [U2Cl2(calix[6]arene - 6H)(THF)3]2.6THF (.6THF) complexes, respectively, while the mono-, di- and trinuclear compounds [Hpy]2[UCl3(calix[4]arene - 3H)].py (.py), [Hpy](4)[U2Cl6(calix[6]arene - 6H)].3py (.3py), [Hpy]3[U2Cl5(calix[6]arene - 6H)(py)].py (.py) and [Hpy]6[U3Cl11(calix[8]arene - 7H)].3py (.3py) were obtained by treatment of UCl4 with calix[n]arenes (n = 4, 6, 8) in pyridine. The sodium salt of calix[8]arene reacted with UCl4 to give the pentanuclear complex [U{U2Cl3(calix[8]arene - 7H)(py)5}2].8py (.8py). Reaction of U(acac)4 (acac = MeCOCHCOMe) with calix[4]arene in pyridine afforded the mononuclear complex [U(acac)2(calix[4]arene - 2H)].4py (.4py) and its treatment with the sodium salt of calix[8]arene led to the formation of the 1D polymer [U2(acac)6(calix[8]arene - 6H)(py)4Na4]n. The sandwich complex [Hpy]2[U(calix[4]arene - 3H)2][OTf].4py (.4py) was obtained by treatment of U(OTf)4 (OTf = OSO2CF3) with calix[4]arene in pyridine. All the complexes have been characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis.  相似文献

A molecular capsule based on ionic interactions between two oppositely charged calix[4]arenes, 1 and 2, was assembled both in solution and on a surface. In solution, the formation of the equimolar assembly 1.2 was studied by (1)H NMR, ESI-MS, and isothermal titration calorimetry, giving an association constant (K(a)) of 7.5 x 10(5) M(-1). A beta-cyclodextrin self-assembled monolayer (beta-CD SAM) on gold was used as a molecular printboard to anchor the tetraguanidinium calix[4]arene (2). The binding of tetrasulfonate calix[4]arene 1 was monitored by surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy. Rinsing of the surface with a high ionic strength aqueous solution allows the removal of the tetrasulfonate calix[4]arene (1), while by rinsing with 2-propanol it is possible to achieve the complete desorption of the tetraguanidinium calix[4]arene (2) from the beta-CD SAM. The K(a) for the capsule formation on a surface is 3.5 x 10(6) M(-1), thus comparing well with the K(a) determined in solution.  相似文献

New calix[5]arene trivalent phosphorus derivatives have been synthesized which should be excellent ligands with which to study and control the interaction of a ligand atom with a metal. The larger cavity of the calix[5]arene (compared to calix[4]arene) provides a good balance between constraint and flexibility. Treatment of p-tert-butylcalix[5]arene with 2 equiv of either tris(dimethylamino)phosphine or dichlorophenylphosphine inserts two RP moieties into the calix[5]arene framework to give calix[5](PR)2(OH) (1, R = Me2N; 2, R = Ph). Further treatment of 1 with 4 equiv of HCl gives calix[5](PCl)2(OH) (3). Heating a solution of the monophosphorus compound calix[5](PNMe2)(OH)3 (4) releases dimethylamine to yield both monomeric calix[5](P)(OH)2 (6) and dimeric [calix[5](P)(OH)2](2) (7), the latter having a tubelike geometry. X-ray crystallographic studies confirm the structures and show that 1 and 2 have approximate cone conformations while 3 has an approximate 1,2-alternate conformation. The orientations of the phosphorus lone pairs and oxygen atoms in all derivatives provide a framework for both soft and hard ligand interactions within the calix[5]arene.  相似文献

The protonolysis reaction of the germanium(II) amide Ge[N(SiMe3)2]2 with calix[4]arene and calix[8]arene furnishes the two germanium(II) calixarene complexes {calix[4]}Ge2 and {calix[8]}Ge4, respectively, which have been crystallographically characterized. The calix[4]arene complex contains a Ge2O2 rhombus at the center of the molecule and is one of the only four germanium(II) calix[4]arenes that have been structurally characterized. The calix[8]arene species is the first reported germanium calix[8]arene complex, and it exhibits an overall bowl-shaped structure which contains two Ge2O2 fragments. The latter complex reacts with Fe2(CO)9 to yield an octairon compound, which has also been structurally characterized and contains four GeFe2 triangles arranged around the macrocyclic ring. The germanium(II) centers are oxidized to germanium(IV) in this process, with concomitant reduction of the neutral diiron species to Fe2(CO)(8)2- anions.  相似文献

Reactions of sodium p-sulfonatocalix[4]arene and scandium(III) tristriflate in the presence, and absence, of [18]crown-6 give the crystalline complexes [Sc2(mu-OH)2(H2O)10][Na4(H2O)8-[calix[4]arene(SO3)4]2).13 H2O and [[Sc2(mu-OH)2(H2O)8][Sc(H2O)4]2[calix[4]-arene(SO3)4-H+]2([18]crown-6).16H2O. Both complexes involve novel coordination polymers with calixarene units linked through sodium or scandium centers and also feature capsule assemblies through to the head-to-head association of calixarenes. A linear array of capsules associated with an infinite chain of aquo-bridged sodium ions, and an aquated hydroxy-bridged scandium(III) dimer, [Sc2(mu-OH)2(H2O)10]4+, are found in the absence of the crown ether. In the presence of [18]crown-6 both hydrated scandium monomers and dimers bridge between calixarenes in a two-dimensional coordination network. The crown ethers reside in cavities created by two calixarenes from adjacent polymeric sheets via a variety of supramolecular interactions(hydrogen-bonding, shape complementarity), and effectively add a third dimension to the network. The extended structure of both of these polymers is highly porous, and resembles a bilayer.  相似文献

The complexation luminescence behavior of a water soluble calix[4]arene derivative, 5,11,17,23-tetra-sulfonate-25,26,27,28-tetra-carboxymethoxycalix[4]arene (L) with lanthanoid ion (Tb(3+)) has been investigated in gelation solution at 25 degrees C by using UV-vis and fluorescence spectra. The results obtained indicated that the water soluble calix[4]arene derivative can form an efficient energy transfer complex with terbium ion(III). The fluorescence of L x Tb(3+)complex is partially quenched by gelatin in gelation solution. The quenching intensity is related to the concentration and the hydrolysis degree of gelatin. Absorption and fluorescence spectra analysis show that the -COO(-) groups on gelatin have a definite binding ability to Tb(3+), and then, gelatin could compete binding with calix[4]arene derivative upon complexation with Tb(3+), leading to the relative fluorescence quenching of the formation complex of terbium(III) ion with calix[4]arene derivative.  相似文献

We report a series of calix[4]arene Mo(VI) dioxo complexes M2RC4MoO2 (M = alkali metal, R = H or Bu(t)) that were fully characterized by NMR, X-ray, IR, UV/vis, and elemental analysis. Molybdocalix[4]arene structures can be controlled via lower rim deprotonation, groups at para positions of calix[4]arene, and alkali metal counterions. Mono deprotonation at the lower rim leads to calix[4]arene Mo(VI) monooxo complexes RC4MoO (R = H, Bu(t), or allyl), and full deprotonation gives rise to calix[4]arene Mo(VI) dioxo complexes. Structural studies indicate that HC4 Mo(VI) dioxo complexes easily form polymeric structures via cation-pi interaction and coordination between different calixarene units. However, Bu(t)C4 Mo(VI) dioxo complexes tend to form dimers or tetramers due to steric hindrance of the tert-butyl groups at para positions in calixarene. The structures of the reduced side products A and C were determined by X-ray diffraction studies. The mechanism of RC4MoO formation from the reaction of calixarene monoanions with MoO2Cl2 appears to include the addition of a calixarene -OH group across a Mo=O bond.  相似文献

A polymerized monolayer of 5,11,17,23,29,35-hexamercaptomethyl-37,38,40,41,42-hexakis-(1-n hexadecyloxy)calix[6]arene (1) has been synthesized on the surface of an ca. 15 mum-thick film derived from poly[1-(trimethylsilyl)-1-propyne] (PTMSP). This monolayer exhibits a permeation selectivity toward He and SF6 that exceeds Knudsen diffusion. Analogous membranes made from a calix[6]arene that contains amidoxime headgroups (i.e., 2) showed Knudsen diffusion characteristics.  相似文献

The synthesis, complete characterization, and solid state structural and solution conformation determination of calix[n]arenes (n = 4, 6, 8) is reported. A complete series of X-ray structures of the alkali metal salts of calix[4]arene (HC4) illustrate the great influence of the alkali metal ion on the solid state structure of calixanions (e.g., the Li salt of monoanionic HC4 is a monomer; the Na salt of monoanionic HC4 forms a dimer; and the K, Rb, and Cs salts exist in polymeric forms). Solution NMR spectra of alkali metal salts of monoanionic calix[4]arenes indicate that they have the cone conformation in solution. Variable-temperature NMR spectra of salts HC4.M (M = Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs) show that they possess similar coalescence temperatures, all higher than that of HC4. Due to steric hindrance from tert-butyl groups in the para position of p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene (Bu(t)C4), the alkali metal salts of monoanionic Bu(t)C4 exist in monomeric or dimeric form in the solid state. Calix[6]arene (HC6) and p-tert-butylcalix[6]arene (Bu(t)C6) were treated with a 2:1 molar ratio of M(2)CO(3) (M = K, Rb, Cs) or a 1:1 molar ratio of MOC(CH(3))(3) (M = Li, Na) to give calix[6]arene monoanions, but calix[6]arenes react in a 1:1 molar ratio with M(2)CO(3) (M = K, Rb, Cs) to afford calix[6]arene dianions. Calix[8]arene (HC8) and p-tert-butylcalix[8]arene (Bu(t)()C8) have similar reactivity. The alkali metal salts of monoanionic calix[6]arenes are more conformationally flexible than the alkali metal salts of dianionic calix[6]arenes, which has been shown by their solution NMR spectra. X-ray crystal structures of HC6.Li and HC6.Cs indicate that the size of the alkali metal has some influence on the conformation of calixanions; for example, HC6.Li has a cone-like conformation, and HC6.Cs has a 1,2,3-alternate conformation. The calix[6]arene dianions show roughly the same structural architecture, and the salts tend to form polymeric chains. For most calixarene salts cation-pi arene interactions were observed.  相似文献

The interaction of water-solubletetrakis(4-carboxyphenylazo)calix[4]arene with N,N,N trimethylarylammoniumiodides and benzene was investigated in order to correlate the effect ofanilinium salts on the binding properties of the cup-shaped hydrophobiccavity with the monolayer spreading behavior of a series of amphiphilicanalogs. Whereas multiple binding is observed for N,N,N-trimethylaniliniumiodide and benzene, NMR titration oftetrakis(4-carboxyphenylazo)calix[4]arene withN,N,N-trimethyl-N-(2-naphthyl)ammonium iodide indicates 2 : 1 complexationwithin the cavity of the calixarene with binding constants of K1 = 8024 M-1and K2 = 3134 M-1.  相似文献

Inherently chiral biscalixarenes with hetero-cavities were synthesized by a covalent assembly of p-tert-butylcalix[5]arene with a 1,3-substituted calix[4]arene via 1,3-alkylation reaction and subsequent desymmetrization. The racemates were resolved by chiral HPLC method. 1H NMR spectra, VT-NMR spectra, and theoretical calculations support that the calix[5]arene subunit of the inherently chiral calix[4][5]arene ester adopts a cone-in conformation, with the aromatic ring bearing the CH2CO2Et group tilting inward the calix[5]arene cavity. By contrast, such a cone-in structural feature of the calix[5]arene subunit disappears for the corresponding inherently chiral calix[4][5]arene carboxylic acid, due to the intramolecular hydrogen bonding between the carboxyl group and an ethereal oxygen of the glycolic chain.  相似文献

The p-nitrophenylazo calix[4] arene derivatives la-ld with nonlinear optical(NLO)properties were prepared by the diazo-coupling reaction of calix[4]arene with p-nitrophenyl diazonium. The diazotization reaction of p-nltroaniline was caried out with isoamyl nitrite as a source of nitrous acid in EtONa/EtOH under refluxing conditon.X-Ray crystallographic analysis and ^1H NMR sptectra reveal that they exist as cone conformation in crystal state or in soution.HRS measurements at 1064 nm in THF indicate that p-nitrophenylazo calix[4]arenes have higher hyperpolarizability βz values than the corresponding reference compound 4-(4-nitrophenylazo)-2,6-dimethyl-phenol,without red shift of the charge transfer band. The tetrakis p-nitropheylazo calix[4]arene(2)with longer alkyl chains can form monolayer aht the air/water interface.  相似文献

In this study, the thermal behavior of three hydrated water-soluble 4-sulphonato calix[n]arenes was investigated. The melting points, heats of fusion, and heats of solution of the calix[4]arene, calix[6]arene and calix[8]arene were 277, 262, and 270°C; 192, 242 and 351 kJ/mol; and 30, 58 and 63 kJ/mol, respectively. Lower heat of fusion, smaller increase in entropy and smaller heat of solution of the calix[4]arene compared to the calix[6]arene and calix[8]arene showed that less heat was required to break up the crystal lattice of the smaller macromolecule. This apparent anomaly is rationalized in terms of smaller cooperativity of interaction between the molecules of calix[4]arene in the crystal lattice, although the strength of the individual interactions is stronger as evidenced by the higher melting point. TGA analysis indicated that about 17–20% of water was associated with the calix[n]arenes. Both TGA and hot stage microscopy results indicated that upon heating these molecules underwent stepwise water loss. TGA kinetics showed that the 4-sulphonato-calix[8]arene lost water easier than the other two calixarenes. The moisture adsorption behavior of all calixarenes followed type II isotherms. For the same amount of material, the calix[6]arene adsorbed more moisture than the calix[4]arene and the calix[8]arene. Moreover, dehydrated less crystalline 4-sulphonic-calix[n]arenes powders are hydroscopic.
