On the basis of X-ray, magnetic and neutron diffraction measurements the range of solubility in the CrSxTe1−x (x = 0−0.2) system has been established and the magnetic phase diagram of the system has been plotted. The decrease of magnetization at low temperature and the additional reflections in the neutron diffraction patterns are associated with the formation of noncollinear magnetic structure which is characterized by the antiferromagnetic component of the magnetic moments. This component has the orthorhombic unit cell with \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ a_M = \sqrt {3a_0 } $\end{document}, bM = a0, cM = c0. The character of the exchange interactions giving rise to this magnetic structure is discussed.  相似文献

Elliptic NdCrO3 microplates were synthesized by a simple and facile one‐step hydrothermal method of processing temperature 280 °C for 3 days. The products prepared in this paper have been characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X‐ray fluorescence (XRF), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and field‐emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). The magnetic properties of the final sample are also studied. The XRD pattern indicates the pure orthorhombic phase for NdCrO3 particles, the XPS, XRF and FTIR results further demonstrate the composition and purity of the final product. A possible growth mechanism for elliptic NdCrO3 microplates is proposed. Through the investigation of magnetic properties, it can be generally concluded that the orthorhombic elliptic NdCrO3 microplates exhibit typical behaviors of magnetic transition, spin reorientation transition and magnetic exchange bias. The Néel temperature is 218 K and the spin reorientation transition temperature is 46 K. The hysteresis loop under 5 K shows that the value of exchange bias field (Hex) is 12 Oe and the shift of remanent magnetization (ΔM) is 0.008 emu/g, respectively.  相似文献

In the nematic phase of homeotropically aligned liquid crystals which have the smectic A phase at lower temperature, interference rings have been observed above some threshold magnetic field Hc which nearly coincides with the ocurrence of Freedericksz transition, only for the light polarized parallel to the direction of magnetic field. This interference ring disappears with increasing magnetic field above second threshold Hs . The origin of these interference rings is explained tentatively by a periodic deformation of bulk directors.

The bend elastic constant of CBOOA estimated from the measurements of the interference ring as a function of temperature, diverges with the critical exponent (0.5 ± 0.02) near the smectic A-nematic transition temperature and agrees well with a recent suggestion of McMillan based on the mean field theory.  相似文献

The structural aspects of clustering of Yb3+ ions and the paramagnetic behavior of these clusters have been investigated in GeO2 glasses doped with 140-1100 ppm by weight of Yb2O3 using time-domain electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopic techniques. The echo-detected EPR (EDEPR) spectra of Yb3+ ions and their unusual dependencies on microwave power and magnetic field have been found to be indicative of the formation of clusters of these rare earth ions in GeO2 glass that behave as non-Kramers type spin systems. The magnetic field and concentration dependence of phase relaxation rates of Yb3+ in these glasses further substantiate such a scenario and indicate the formation of clusters of Yb3+ ions. A comparison of the EDEPR spectra with calculated cw-EPR line shapes yields a semi-quantitative measure of the typical cluster size of ?3 Yb atoms and intra-cluster Yb-Yb distances of 3.5-4.0 Å in these glasses at doping levels of ?350 ppm of Yb2O3.  相似文献

The effect of growth conditions on the polytypic structure of crystals of CdI2 was analyzed for crystallization from solutions. Three solvents were used: H2O, 3 H2O + 1 C2H5OH and 1 H2O + 1.C2H5OH. Crystals were grown at two temperatures: 5 and 25°C with low and high growth rates; an external magnetic field of about 0.25 tesla was used. The effect of the above three parameters on the formation of the basic polytypes 2H and 4H and on the ordering of faults in disordered structures and polytype cells was studied by X-ray analysis of crystal surfaces. Some distinct relations between the polytypic structure of crystals of CdI2 and the magnetic field were found.  相似文献

An attempt for measuring of the penetration non-critical length of MBBA flexoelectric surface-induced domains is made. The disappearance of the domains into subcritical regions is related to the strong nonhomogeneity of the electric field around the gap which is able to inhibit the flexoelectric domain formation. The disappearance of the electrohydrodynamic domains generated from the flexoelectric ones, on the other hand, shows their secondary character as well. The existence of the penetration non-critical length of the flexoelectric domains is further confirmed with the observation of the corresponding supercritical influence length of side walls or air bubbles.

The behavior of the flexoelectric domains in an additionally applied magnetic field reveals their wall structure and permits the determination of the value and sign of the two MBBA flexoelectric coefficients of bend e 3x and splay e 1z, when the value and sign of the total flexoelectric coefficient ( e z, + e 3x) are known.  相似文献

The effect of different doses of γ‐rays on the behavior of the critical current density, Jc in an YBa2Cu3O7 polycrystalline sample has been investigated at high temperatures. The samples were irradiated at room temperature by a 60Co γ‐ray source at a dose rate of 0.5 MR/h. Jc was found to increase significantly with after irradiation dose of 10 MR. Further irradiation dose of 50 MR produced a slight and field dependent enhancement of Jc above its values at 10 MR. The most interesting result is that the relative change in the critical current density was found to have a non‐monotonic behavior with the applied magnetic field. These results are discussed in terms of the roles of several mechanisms created by γ‐rays in the regions of the grain boundaries combined with the effect of the magnetic field on these mechanisms. Two coordination polymers, {[Ln(2-stp)(4,4′-bipy)(H2O)].(H2O)}, [Ln = Dy (1) and Eu (2), 2-stp = 2-sulfoterephthalate and 4,4′-bipy = 4,4′-bipyridine] have been characterized by solid state UV-vis, FTIR spectra, X-ray single crystal diffraction and solid state photoluminescence. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility and isothermal magnetization as function of external magnetic field is also studied for both complexes. After ligand-mediated excitation, both complexes show the characteristic visible and NIR luminescence of the corresponding LnIII ions (Ln = Dy, Eu) which is due to efficient energy transfer from the ligands to the central LnIII ions via an antenna effect. The indirect energy transfer in both complexes has been investigated and discussed in detail.  相似文献

By modeling the equilibrium state of the phase formation reaction of High-Tc superconducting phase 1:2:3 (YBa2Cu3O7−x) and using the results of P-T−x correlation investigation of some authors, the variation of Gibbs free energy (ΔGm) versus temperature has been calculated. On the basis of the variation of ΔGm, the technology procedure of preparation of phase 1:2:3 with desired x has been established to meet requirement of basic investigation and application of High-Tc superconductors YBa2Cu3O7−x.  相似文献

Studies of magnetic phase transition (ferromagnetic-paramagnetic) in cubic LaMnO3 have been carried out. Using neutron diffraction and calorimetric investigations the temperature of this transition was determined to be equal to 148 K. The studied phase transition is close to the second order transition by nature. Transition enthalpy is estimated from the given dependence of Cp(T) and is 17 cal/mole. Linear dependence of temperature of the given magnetic transition in weak magnetic fields is established.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline holmium aluminium garnet (Ho3Al5O12) has been prepared for the first time by modified Pechini's reaction after sintering the precursor gel at 1223 K. The nanomaterial has been characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), selected area electron diffraction (SAED) and high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The XRD pattern confirms the formation of single‐phase Ho3Al5O12; the average size of the nanoparticles has also been determined. X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) has been used to study the chemical composition and bonding in the as‐prepared samples. The binding energies of core‐level electrons in Ho, Al and O in the title material have been found slightly shifted compared to the values of the respective elements. DC magnetic susceptibility has been measured in the temperature range 2 – 260 K. Low effective magnetic moment of Ho3+, μeff = 1.35 µB and Weiss constant have been derived from the inverse magnetic susceptibility–temperature linear plot. (© 2011 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Annealing of thin Ag films covered by Bi1−xSbx (x = 0.09) and Sb overlayers, respectively, has been investigated by measuring the electrical resistance. Material exchange by diffusion leading to the formation of an intermetallic phase between Ag and Sb was found to be mainly responsible for the annealing effects. By X-ray and electron diffraction the intermetallic compound has been identified as the ε-phase Ag3Sb. The diffusion processes due to annealing were studied by SIMS. A correlation between the measured resistance and electron micrographs of the cross-sectional film structure was found.  相似文献

Data are presented on experimental studies of the influence of an external electric field on crystallization of a germanium melt under the layer of a B2O3 flux. It has been found out that with the field supercoolings of the melt sharply change. This effect is due to the change of the number of active nucleation centres at the germanium – B2O3 flux interface. The maximum supercoolings of the germanium melt ΔT = 190 K were obtained when a negative potential was connected to germanium. The dependences of supercooling on preliminary melt overheating were measured.  相似文献

The low field hysteresis loops of hard-soft magnetic materials can be biased as a consequence of the magnetic coupling of both phases. In hard-soft nanocrystalline materials, magnetostatic and exchange interactions between the hard crystalline phase and the much softer embedding amorphous matrix coexist and the relevance of their effect on the hysteresis is difficult to distinguish. In this work, the thermal evolution of the biased magnetic hysteresis loops of hardsoft devitrified Co66Fe4Mo2Si16B12 ribbons has been studied between room and Curie temperature. The nature of the coupling between the two magnetic phases is discussed in terms of the influence of the temperature on the magnetic properties of the soft phase, mainly on its saturation magnetization and exchange constant, and on the switching field distribution of the hard phase. The results allow to conclude that the effect of the exchange interaction predominates over the magnetostatic one.  相似文献

Abstract

Much attention has been paid to the solid anion radical salts of 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ), because of their prominent electronic properties.1–4 In particular, the salts containing mixed cations represented by [(C6H5)3PCH3]+ 1–x [(C6H5)3AsCH3]+ × (TCNQ)? 2, (0 ≤×≤ 1), are known to undergo phase transitions at 1 atm pressure in the solid state.1–4 The phase transition of pure methyltriphenylphosphonium salt, (x = 0.00), takes place at 315.7 K. Heat-capacity measurements of this phase transition have been made by Kosaki et al. 3 The transition has thus been found to be of the first order. The enthalpy and the total entropy change associated with the phase transition were experimentally determined to be 485.18 cal/mol and 1.7206 cal/deg.mol, respectively. For the solid solutions, it was found that the transition temperature (Tc ) is increased, while the magnitude of the heat of transition (δH) is decreased, progressively with an increase in the composition parameter (x) and that pure methyltriphenylarsonium salt, (x = 1.00), has no such phase transition up to the decomposition temperature of about 480 K at 1 atm pressure.1–3 Figure 1 shows the experimental relation between T c and x, together with the relation between δH and x.4 In the present paper, we attempted to explain thermodynamically the phase diagram of Figure 1 for the solid solutions of those TCNQ anion radical salts.  相似文献

The kinetics of the appearance of the superconducting 123 phase in partially melted at 1200 °C YBCO samples has been studied in the temperature range of low undercoolings from 1040 °C to 920 °C. An EDS analysis of the phases formed at different stages of the cooling of the melt has been performed and the experimental conditions for crystallization of 123 phase with finely dispersed 211 phase in it have been established. The results have been interpreted in terms of the classical theory of nucleation and they have been applied to the MTG process for formation of highly textured YBa2Cu3Oy materials.  相似文献

Abstract

X-ray diffraction studies of 4'-(N (p-pentyloxycarbonyloxy-benzylidene)amino)valerophenone (PCBAV in short) oriented by a magnetic field is reported here. The compound has a smectic A phase which is identified by X-ray studies and texture studies. Orienta-tional order parameters (p 2) and (P 4) have been determined from the calculation of f(β), the orientational distribution function. An approximate expression for the angular part of the potential of the mean field is obtained from the temperature variation of the orientational distribution function. The value of d, the layer thickness, and D, the intermolecular distance, have been calculated. An approximate value for the translational order parameter τ1 and average value of the root mean square displacement ?z2?½ are given. We could not get an accurate estimate of the translational order parameter due to the inaccuracy in the measurement of the intensity of the inner ring.  相似文献

Investigation of the magnetic structure of the diluted (Pd0.984Fe0.016)0.95Mn0.05 alloy at meso-and nanoscale levels by means of two techniques of small-angle polarized-neutron scattering (within a direct beam and beyond it) has been performed in the temperature range 10<T<60 K. The dependences of the neutron beam depolarization, the polarization rotation angle, and the polarization-dependent magnetic scattering cross section on a weak (0<H<40 A/cm) external magnetic field have been studied. A simple model of neutron beam depolarization by a sample with uniaxial magnetic anisotropy was used to analyze the results obtained. The experiment on polarized-neutron scattering in the so-called direct geometry showed the existence of a polarization-dependent scattering cross section. This scattering has left-right asymmetry and depends on temperature. Comparison of these results with the depolarization data leads to a conclusion about the existence of static chiral fluctuations in large-scale inhomogeneities.  相似文献

Abstract

We report the structural and magnetic properties of the endohedral metallofullerene Ce@C82. A hexagonal close packing phase [P63/mmc [a=11.1544Å, c=18.2256Å] is formed exclusively after vacuum annealing of the solvent precipitated compound. In contrast, sublimed Ce@C82 was found to be dominantly face-centred cubic close packed [Fm-3m; a=15.766Å]. X-ray powder profile calculations revealed that the endohedral cerium atom lies close to 1.8Å from the C82 cage centre in both phases. Hexagonal Ce@C82 has been investigated by magnetic susceptibility measurements. Paramagnetic behaviour is maintained down to 2K attributable to Ce3+ ions. Towards lower temperatures, the observed paramagnetic moment falls from the free ion Ce3+eff =2.54μB) value, monotonically approaching 1μB at 2K.  相似文献

Phase transition behaviour of the systems of EBBA with methyl alcohol (MeOH), 1.2-dibromo-ethylene (DBE), o-xylene, m-xylene, and p-xylene has been studied. The phase diagrams for each system have been determined by the polarizing microscope. The slopes, βn and Bi, of the nematic and the isotropic phase boundary lines in each system have been qualitatively described by the molecular field treatment proposed by Humphries. The order parameters for both cis-and trans-DBE in EBBA have been obtained from analyses of 1H-NMR spectra. In the nematic phase, they decrease with increase in temperature. In the nematic/isotropic coexisting phase (N/I phase), the order parameter for CIS-DBE is almost independent of temperature. The proton spin-lattice relaxation times (T1) in the MeOH/EBBA system have been measured by a pulse NM R technique. Little temperature dependence of T1 has been found in the N/1 phase region.c  相似文献
