Non linear optical (NLO) materials have acquired new significance with the advent of a large number of devices utilizing solid‐state laser sources. Several NLO materials have been used for this kind of technological applications. The Potassium di‐hydrogen phosphate (KDP) one of NLO material having superior non linear optical properties has been exploited for variety of applications. In the present investigation we have grown KDP crystals from aqous solution with thiourea, an organic non linear optical material. We could enhance the SHG efficiency of thiourea doped KDP crystal. It was 1.99 times more that of pure KDP. We observed more enhancements in nonlinearity for low concentration of thiourea.The crystal structure and cell parameters of grown crystal were determined from Powder XRD.The incorporation of thiourea in the grown crystals was qualitatively analyzed from FT‐IR study. The absorption spectra of pure and thiourea doped KDP crystal reveal that thiourea doped KDP crystals would be a better nonlinear optical (NLO) material for second harmonic generation (SHG) than pure KDP. The thermal decomposition and weight loss of pure and thiourea doped KDP crystal was observed by thermogravimetric (TGA) analysis and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). The high frequency dielectric study of pure KDP crystal, thiourea doped KDP crystals and organic additive thiourea was carried out using X‐band at frequency 8GHZ and 12GHZ by transmission line wave guide method. This paper reports the growth of an organometallic nonlinear optical (NLO) complex crystal, Cadmium mercury thiocyanate dimethyl-sulphoxide (CdHg(SCN)4(H6CP2OS)2, CMTD), which was grown from aqueous solution by a temperature lowering method. Its powder SHG intensity is higher than that of CMTC. The crystal size of CMTD can reach 25×23×15mm3. The solubility curve, and solubility variation with pH value are also reported. The growth habits of crystals of CMTD grown under different conditions are discussed and the optimized condition for the growth CMTD using a temperature-lowering method from aqueous solution are also discussed.  相似文献

Single crystals of bis-glycine hydrogen chloride (BGHC), a semiorganic nonlinear optical (NLO) material, have been grown by slow solvent evaporation technique. Good optical quality single crystals with dimensions up to 33×5×5 mm3 are obtained. The crystals are characterized by optical transmission spectrum, FTIR and X-ray diffraction studies. The thermal stability of the crystal is studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential thermal analysis (DTA). The second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency of BGHC was found to be 5.6 times that of KDP. The laser damage threshold values studied in single shot mode indicates that BGHC crystal possesses a fairly high value of 9.8 GW/cm2 and thus the NLO studies confirmed the superiority of BGHC over KDP and urea crystals. The dielectric constant of the crystal was studied as a function of frequency and the results are discussed.  相似文献

紫外非线性光学晶体是组成紫外固态激光器的关键材料。目前,紫外非线性光学晶体主要依赖硼酸盐晶体,但已有的硼酸盐晶体并不能完全满足应用需求,而进一步研发新型硼酸盐非线性光学晶体难度不断增大,因此开拓新的材料体系显得尤为迫切。从硼酸盐结构与非线性光学效应关系可知,含有平面共轭基团的硼酸盐具有大的倍频系数、合适的双折射率和短的紫外截止边等特性,因此平面共轭基团是硼酸盐非线性光学晶体的核心功能基元。基于几何构型拓展平面共轭基团研究是探索新体系紫外非线性光学晶体材料的重要思路和关键环节。基于此,本团队提出以具有平面三角共轭结构的碳酸盐、硝酸盐、胍盐和具有平面六元环共轭结构的氰尿酸氢盐、巴比妥酸氢盐等化合物为研究对象,拓展紫外非线性光学晶体材料的探索范围。本文将主要介绍本团队近年来在碳酸盐、硝酸盐、胍盐、氰尿酸氢盐、巴比妥酸氢盐紫外晶体探索方面取得的研究成果。  相似文献

Single crystals of bis-glycine sodium nitrate (BGSN), a semi-organic nonlinear optical (NLO) material, have been grown by slow cooling method. Good optical quality single crystals with dimensions up to 1.6×1.6×1.0 cm3 are obtained. Using a single-crystal diffractometer, the morphology of BGSN crystal was identified. Powder X-ray diffraction confirms the crystalline nature of BGSN. The grown crystals were characterized by optical transmission spectrum (UV) and FTIR studies. The NLO property of the crystal was confirmed by Kurtz second harmonic generation (SHG) test, and the output power generated by the crystal was compared with that of KDP. The thermal stability of the crystal was studied by thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA), differential thermal analysis (DTA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Micro hardness study was carried out for different planes, and the anisotropy behavior of the crystal was observed.  相似文献

A novel organometallic nonlinear optical (NLO) crystal, namely thiourea complex of tetrakis thiourea potassium iodide (TTPI), has been grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique. The harvested crystal is large in size. To our knowledge there is no report is available for the bulk size single crystal of TTPI. This material has a positive temperature coefficient and has been grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique. The grown crystal have been characterized by employing several techniques such as single crystal and powder X‐ray diffraction, FTIR, UV‐Vis‐NIR spectra, thermo gravimetric analyses respectively. Etching studies have also been carried out in order to know the surface defects on the as grown specimen of TTPI. Single crystals of tris allylthiourea mercury chloride (ATMC), a semi‐organic nonlinear optical material, have been grown from a low‐temperature solution growth technique by slow cooling method. In the present work, we have grown ATMC crystal which is a new nonlinear optical material (NLO) having high optical quality and its second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency is thrice that of Urea. The grown crystals have also been subjected to various characterization studies like X‐ray diffraction, UV‐VIS, FT‐IR and TGA‐DTA. X‐ray powder diffraction study confirmed the crystal structure of ATMC, UV‐VIS /FT‐IR spectral analysis showed the crystal has good optical transmission in the entire visible region and TGA‐DTA studies showed the thermal properties and complex degradation of ATMC crystal. A potentially useful semiorganic nonlinear optical (NLO) material, L‐arginine perchlorate, has been synthesized and bulk crystals have been grown by slow cooling technique. The grown crystals were characterized by single crystal X‐ray diffraction, UV‐Vis‐NIR spectroscopy, FT‐IR, thermal analysis and SHG measurements. The grown crystals were thermally stable upto 153°C and exhibit SHG efficiency of about 0.17 with respect of Urea. The etching studies have been carried out on the grown crystal. LAPC has good optical transmission not only in the visible range, however, also in the near UV part of the spectra and hence it is a potential material for nonlinear frequency conversion. Thiourea has a large dipole moment and has an ability to form extensive network of hydrogen bonds. In the course of our studies on new semiorganic NLO materials, thiourea is selected to combine with nickel chloride. Single crystals of tetrakis thiourea nickel chloride are grown using silica gel. Green transparent crystals of NTC (nickel thiourea chloride) of dimension 8x4x3 mm3 are grown in a period of 45 days. Single crystal XRD shows that the crystal belongs to body centered tetragonal symmetry class I4. The UV‐Vis‐NIR spectrum establishes the transmission range to be 300 nm to 2500 nm, with a sharp absorption peak at the red end of the visible region, which is due to the colour of the crystal. Photoconductivity and dielectric studies are also carried out. The mechanical strength of the crystal is estimated by Vickers hardness test. The crystal starts decomposing after about 200°C. Growth of bulk nonlinear optical (NLO) single crystals gained new significance with the advent of solid‐state laser sources for opto‐electronic applications. An optically transparent crystal of potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP) has been grown from aqueous solution along (001) plane with the aid of modified growth assembly of Sankaranarayanan‐Ramasamy (SR) Method. The evaporation rate was controlled and single crystals of 5 mm diameter and 60 mm length with a growth rate 5 mm per day have been grown successfully. The improved transparency of grown crystal was investigated using DRS UV transmittance spectral analysis and the presence of functional groups in the grown crystal is confirmed using FTIR analysis. A new organic compound of bis-glycine maleate was synthesized in the alkaline medium of 10% ammonium hydroxide solution. The bulk single crystals of Bis-Glycine Maleate (BGM) have been grown by slow cooling method. The grown crystals were characterized by employing single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared, optical absorption spectral studies and thermo gravimetric analysis. The microhardness studies confirmed that the BGM has a fairly high Vicker’s hardness number value (41 kg mm−2) in comparison to other organic NLO crystals. Second harmonic generation efficiency of the crystal measured by Kurtz–Perry powder method using Nd:YAG laser is found to be comparable to that of potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP). Frequency dependent dielectric studies were carried out along the major growth axis.  相似文献

Good-quality single crystals of an efficient nonlinear optical (NLO) chalcone derivative 1-(5-chlorothiophen-2-yl)-3-(2,3-dichlorophenyl)prop-2-en-1-one (CTDCP) which meets many of the physicochemical requirements like transparency in the entire visible region, thermal stability, mechanical hardness have been achieved. The crystal belongs to orthorhombic system with the centrosymmetric space group Pbca. The third-order NLO properties were investigated using a single beam Z-scan technique with nanosecond laser pulses at 532 nm. The nonlinear refractive index is found to be of the order of 10?11 cm2/W. The magnitude of third-order susceptibility is of the order of 10?13 esu. The compound exhibits good optical limiting at 532 nm. The mechanical property of the crystals showed load dependent hardness. The static and frequency dependent molecular hyperpolarizabilities were computed using MOPAC 2012. Thermal study confirms that the crystal is dimensionally stable up to 179°C. The influence of direction of charge transfer on the nonlinearity of the molecule has been discussed in detail.  相似文献

Single crystals of pure and lithium substituted L‐alanine are successfully grown by slow evaporation method at constant temperature of 32°C. The effect of lithium dopant on crystal properties has been studied. Powder and single crystal XRD analysis confirms the structure and change in lattice parameter values for the doped crystals. The crystals were characterized by solubility studies, density, melting point measurements, FTIR and UV‐Vis‐NIR techniques. Thermal and mechanical stability of crystals were tested by TGA/DTA and micro hardness analysis. NLO activity of the crystals is found to be increased in the presence of lithium ions. A new semiorganic nonlinear optical (NLO) crystal, Bis S-benzylisothiouronium tetrachloridozincate (II) (SBTTZ), has been synthesized and good optical quality needle shaped single crystals of the title material were grown by solvent evaporation solution growth method at room temperature. Powder X-ray diffraction pattern confirms the crystallinity of the material. Single X-ray diffraction study was carried out to establish the existence of intermolecular hydrogen bonding in the crystal. The UV–Vis–NIR spectrum indicates that the crystal has very good transmittance in the entire visible and near IR regions of the spectrum suggesting the suitability of the material for NLO applications. The presence of various functional groups was confirmed by FT IR spectroscopic technique. The 1H NMR spectrum confirms the molecular structure. The thermal and mechanical stabilities have been confirmed by TG/DTA analyses and Vickers microhardness study respectively. The SHG in the grown crystal was identified by modified Kurtz–Perry method using Nd:YAG laser as the source.  相似文献

In the crystallographic literature, there is an ever-increasing number of publications on crystals that are referred to as ‘new non-linear optical materials’, many of them reporting salts of amino acids. However, the term NLO material is used improperly in most cases. In fact, the establishment of any crystal species as such a material requires several experimental and computational procedures, which are seldom satisfied when characterizing a supposedly new species. Here, some frequent hazards and problems are addressed and observations of papers reporting amino acid compounds as supposedly new NLO materials are made.  相似文献

Remarkable second-harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency has been observed in the glycine picrate (GP) though it crystallizes in centrosymmetric structure. Bulk single crystals of GP with a good size of ~20×10×3 mm3 have been successfully grown by the slow cooling method in aqueous medium. Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and FT-Raman studies have confirmed, respectively, the crystal structure and functional groups of the grown crystal. Crystalline perfection of single crystals has been evaluated by high-resolution X-ray diffractometry (HRXRD) using a multicrystal X-ray diffractometer and found that the grown crystals are nearly perfect. Nonlinear optical (NLO) behavior of glycine picrate crystals has been studied for the first time by Kurtz powder technique and its second-harmonic generation efficiency is found to be 2.34 times higher than that of KDP. Transparency of crystals in UV–vis–NIR region has also been studied. Dielectric measurements have been carried out using an impedance analyzer over a wide range of frequency (100 Hz–3 MHz) at room temperature. The slight decrease in dielectric constant has been observed as the frequency is increased and the dielectric loss is very low for the entire frequency range. The ac conductivity is almost constant up to 1 MHz and sudden increase has been observed above this frequency.  相似文献

L‐arginine hydrochloride monohydrate (LAHCl.H2O) has been synthesized and single crystals have been grown from its aqueous solution by slow evaporation and slow cooling methods. The solubility of the material was measured at various temperatures and bulk crystals of size 26×13×11 mm3 have been grown by optimizing the growth parameters. The grown crystals have been subjected to single crystal XRD studies to confirm the structure and to estimate the lattice parameters. FTIR analysis indicate the mode of vibrations of different molecular groups present in LAHCl and confirm the protonation of guanidyl, amino groups and deprotonation of COO groups. UV‐Vis transmission spectrum revealed the linear optical properties of the grown crystals with a transparency of 65% over the entire visible range upto 300 nm. Thermal behavior of the grown crystal was investigated from DTA and TGA measurements. Dielectric studies have been carried out on the grown crystals. Kurtz and Perry powder SHG technique confirms the NLO property of the grown crystal. The SHG efficiency of LAHCl was found to be 0.38 with respect to KDP. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. The features of doping of KDP crystals with cerium ions and organocerium complexes with alizarin complexon and arsenazo III have been investigated. It is established that “direct” doping by introducing cerium salts into the initial solution cannot be implemented. The effect of organometallic complexes of cerium on the crystal growth has been studied. Organocerium complexes predominantly enter the prismatic or pyramidal growth sectors. It is shown that the complex arsenazo III + Ce blocks the growth of the prismatic sector. Cerium-doped KDP crystals exhibit a photoluminescence band peaking at the wavelength λmax= 350 nm.  相似文献

Good optical quality single crystals of zinc hydrogen phosphate (ZnHPO4) having dimensions up to 8×2×2 mm3 have been grown with the aid of sodium meta silicate gel. Single crystal XRD studies confirm that the crystal belongs to the orthorhombic system with space group P212121. The functional groups present in the crystals were confirmed using FTIR technique. Optical absorbance shows very low absorption in the entire visible region. Differential thermal and thermo gravimetric analysis confirmed that the crystal is stable up to 193°C. Photoconductivity study reveals positive photoconductivity in the presence of photo active centers formed by trap energy levels.
