Theoretical α-decay half-lives of the heaviest nuclei are calculated using the experimental Qα value. The barriers in the quasi-molecular shape path is determined within a Generalized Liquid Drop Model (GLDM) and the WKB approximation is used. The results are compared with calculations using the DensityDependent M3Y (DDM3Y) effective interaction and the Viola-Seaborg-Sobiczewski (VSS) formulae. The calculations provide consistent estimates for the half-lives of the α decay chains of these superheavy elements. The experimental data stand between the GLDM calculations and VSS ones in the most time.

Quadrupole transition densities in neutron-rich nuclei in the vicinity of the neutron drip-line are calculated in the framework of the Random Phase Approximation. The continuum is treated by expansion in oscillator functions. We focus on the states which contribute to the usual Giant Quadrupole Resonance, and not on the low-lying strength which is also expected in such nuclei and whose collective character is still under debate. We find that, due to the large neutron skin in these nuclei, the isoscalar and isovector modes are in general strongly mixed. We further show that the transition densities corresponding to the GQR states can be reasonably well described by the collective model in terms of in phase and out of phase oscillations of neutron and proton densities which have different radii.

The quasiparticle representation of the phonon darnping model (PDM) is developed to include the superfluid pairing correlations microscopically. The formalism is applied to calculate the photoabsorption and the electromagnetic (EM) differential cross sections of E1 excitations in neutron-rich oxygen and calcium isotopes. The calculated photoabsorption cross sections agree reasonably well with the available data for 16,18O and 40,48Ca. The results of calculations show that the change of the fraction of the E1 integrated strength in the region of pygmy dipole resonance (PDR) as a function of mass number A with increasing neutron number N is in agreement with the recent experimental data, and does not follow the prediction by the simple cluster model. The EM differential cross sections obtained within PDM in this work show prominent PDR peaks below 15 MeV for 20,22O in agreement with the recent experimental observation. It is also shown that, using low-energy RI beams at around 50–60 MeV/nucleon, one can observe clean and even enhanced PDR peaks without the admixture with the GDR in the EM differential cross sections of neutron-rich nuclei.

We evaluate the small-amplitude excitations of a spin-polarized vapour of Fermi atoms confined inside a harmonic trap. The dispersion law is obtained for the vapour in the collisional regime inside a spherical trap of frequency , with n the number of radial nodes and the orbital angular momentum. The low-energy excitations are also treated in the case of an axially symmetric harmonic confinement. The collisionless regime is discussed with main reference to a Landau-Boltzmann equation for the Wigner distribution function: this equation is solved within a variational approach allowing an account of non-linearities. A comparative discussion of the eigenmodes of oscillation for confined Fermi and Bose vapours is presented in an Appendix. Received 23 February 1999 and Received in final form 21 April 1999  相似文献

Collective excitations of finite nuclei are discussed in a model relativistic baryon-meson field theory. Eigenvalue equations for small amplitude motion about the static mean-field solutions assuming irrotational flow are derived. Variational estimates of the lowest modes are obtained.

This work presents the first continuum shell-model study of weakly bound neutron-rich nuclei involving multiconfiguration mixing. For the single-particle basis, the complex-energy Berggren ensemble representing the bound single-particle states, narrow resonances, and the nonresonant continuum background is taken. Our shell-model Hamiltonian consists of a one-body finite potential and a zero-range residual two-body interaction. It is demonstrated that the residual interaction coupling to the particle continuum is important; in some cases, it can give rise to the binding of a nucleus.

The deuteron break-up process in a suitable converter gives rise to intense neutron beams. A source of neutron-rich nuclei based on the neutron-induced fission can be realised using these beams. A theoretical optimization of such a facility as a function of the incident deuteron energy is reported. The model used to determine the fission products takes into account the excitation energy of the target nucleus and the evaporation of prompt neutrons. Results are presented in connection with a converter-target specific geometry. Received: 1 December 2000 / Accepted: 12 May 2001  相似文献

Landau's theory of collective motion in Fermi systems is applied to the giant resonances in nuclei. It is shown that the restoring forces associated with these modes can be simply expressed in terms of local Landau parameters. Explicit expressions are given for the energies of the monopole and quadrupole modes. The validity of this approach is briefly discussed.

A relativistic Thomas-Fermi model of finite nuclei is considered. The effective nuclear interaction is mediated by exchanges of isoscalar scalar and vector mesons. We include also a self-interaction of the scalar meson field and the Coulomb repulsion of the protons. The parameters of the model are constrained by the average nuclear properties. The Thomas-fermi equations are solved numerically for finite, stable nuclei. The particular case of 20882Pb is considered in more detail.

The odd-proton nuclei 123I and 125I have been studied in the reactions 121Sb(α, 2n)123I and 123Sb(α, 2n)125I, respectively. The level schemes, spin and parity assignments are based on results obtained from singles γ-ray spectra (Eα = 27 MeV) and excitation functions, from measurements of delayed γ-rays, γ-γ coincidences, internal conversion electrons and γ-ray angular distributions. High-spin positive- and negative-parity bands with energies up to 2948 keV and spins up to 232 in 123I and with energies up to 3775 keV and spins up to 272in125I have been established. In the decay schemes of both nuclei two separated structures of levels have been observed. One group of levels shows a strong ΔJ = 2 quasirotational pattern predicted by the particle-vibration coupling model. The ΔJ = 1 sequence on a 92+ state is assigned as a rotational structure built on the axially symmetric deformed state 92+[404]. In 123I a 28 ns isomer at 2660.0 keV has been found.

Clustering in nuclei is discussed putting emphasis on the investigation of the role of nuclear clustering in neutron-rich nuclei. The subjects we discuss include clustering in neutron-rich Be, B and C isotopes, clustering in the island of inversion around N = 20, and clustering in the region with A ≈ 40. Be isotopes present us typical examples of clustering in neutron-rich nuclei not only in their ground band states but also in their excited band states, for which we show the analyses based on antisymmetrized molecular dynamics (AMD). Clustering in Be isotopes near neutron dripline is intimately related to the breaking of the neutron magic number N = 8. In this connection we report our study about the possible relation of the clustering with the breaking of the neutron magic number N = 20 in the island of inversion including 32Mg and 30Ne. Our discussion is not only about the positive parity states but also about negative parity states. Recently in the latter half of sd shell and in the pf shell many excited rotational bands with large deformation have been found to exist. Since the first excited K π = 0+ and K π = 0- bands in 40Ca have been regarded as constituting inversion doublet bands having the 36Ar + α structure, and since the first excited K π = 0- band in 44Ti has been concluded to have 40Ca + α structure through the α transfer reaction and by using the unique α optical potential on 40Ca, it is important to investigate the role of α clustering in these newly-found rotational bands with large deformation. We will report the AMD study about this problem.

The isoscalar and isovector collective multipole excitations in exotic nuclei are studied in the framework of a fully self-consistent relativistic continuum random phase approximation (RCRPA). In this method the contri- bution of the continuum spectrum to nuclear excitations is treated exactly by the single particle Green's function. Different from the cases in stable nuclei, there are strong low-energy excitations in neutron-rich nuclei and proton-rich nuclei. The neutron or proton excess pushes the centroid of the strength function to lower energies and increases the fragmentation of the strength distribution. The effect of treating the contribution of continuum exactly is also discussed.

The structure of light neutron-rich nuclei is investigated within the cluster model. Moments of inertia are systematized for low-lying bands of positive and negative parity. It is shown that the experimentally observed rotational bands can be described in the scope of a simple alpha particle model.

The large multi-detector arrays such as EUROBALL and GAMMASPHERE have made possible the study of the spectroscopy of neutron-rich nuclei through the observation of discrete, prompt -rays emitted following fission. Most of the information obtained has concerned yrast states and collective excitations. In the present work, a search has been made for excited bands based upon two-quasiparticle intrinsic structures. Such bands have been found in several even-even nuclei from 96Sr to 112Pd. Careful analysis of triple-coincidence spectra has been performed in order to determine branching ratios within the bands. These branching ratios are then used to establish the magnetic properties of the intrinsic structure, permitting, in most cases, the determination of which Nilsson orbits (and whether they are neutron or proton states) are contributing to the excitation. Some example results from this search are presented.Received: 1 November 2002, Published online: 2 March 2004PACS: 23.20.Lv transitions and level energies - 21.60.Ev Collective models - 27.60.
