Contemporary status of the OPERA experiment for detecting νμ → ντ oscillations in a νμ beam

The first results of the physical stage of the OPERA experiment in 2007, when observation of oscillations of gv_μ into gv_τ started, are discussed. Thirty eight events related to neutrino interactions in emulsion blocks (bricks) are found. The underground muon spectrum and the μ⁺/μ^? ratio are obtained. The results of using detachable emulsion packs (changeable sheets) and accuracy of predictions of neutrino interaction vertices in emulsion layers are discussed. The results of the hardware and software upgrade of the automatic emulsion scanning system PAVIKOM are reported.     

Search for Z’ → WW at LHC with the ATLAS detector

The potential for measuring the Z‘WW coupling with the ATLAS detector at the LHC is investigated under conditions of low and high luminosity. It is estimated that detection of the decay channel Z’ → WW → lν _l jj is possible with 300 fb ⁻¹, for a Z’ boson with sequential model couplings and with a mass up to 2.2 TeV.     

Search for the f1(1285) → π+π-π0 decay with the VES detector

The isospin-violating decay f ₁(1285) → π⁺π^-π⁰ has been studied at the VES facility. This study is based on the statistics acquired in π^- Be interactions at 27, 36.6 and 41 GeV/c in the diffractive reaction π^- N → (f ₁π^-)N . The f ₁(1285) → π⁺π^-π⁰ decay is observed. The preliminary ratio of decay probabilities BR(f ₁(1285) → π⁺π^-π⁰) to BR(f ₁(1285) → ηπ⁺π^-)^. BR(η → γγ) is ∼ 2% . Original article based on material presented at HADRON 2007.     

Search for the ϕ → π+π−γγ and ϕ → π+π−η decays with the CMD-2 detector

The ? → π⁺π^?γγ and ? → π⁺π^?η decays are sought in the experimental data obtained with the CMD-2 detector in the region of the ?-meson resonance. Upper limits ?(? → ππγγ)< 1.2 × 10^?4 and ?(? → ππη) < 6.1 × 10^?5 (both at a C.L. of 90%) are determined for the branching ratios of these decays.     

Search for one large extra dimension with the DELPHI detector at?LEP

Single photons detected by the DELPHI experiment at LEP2 in the years 1997–2000 are reanalysed to investigate the existence of a single extra dimension in a modified ADD scenario with slightly warped large extra dimensions. The data collected at centre-of-mass energies between 180 and 209 GeV for an integrated luminosity of ∼650 pb⁻¹ agree with the predictions of the Standard Model and allow a limit to be set on graviton emission in one large extra dimension. The limit obtained on the fundamental mass scale M _D is 1.69 TeV/c ² at 95% CL, with an expected limit of 1.71 TeV/c ². Deceased.     

Search for a standard model Higgs boson in the H→ZZ→ℓ(+)ℓ(-)νν decay channel with the ATLAS detector

A search for a heavy standard model Higgs boson decaying via H→ZZ→→?(+)?(-)νν, where ?=e, μ, is presented. It is based on proton-proton collision data at √s=7 TeV, collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC in the first half of 2011 and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.04 fb(-1). The data are compared to the expected standard model backgrounds. The data and the background expectations are found to be in agreement and upper limits are placed on the Higgs boson production cross section over the entire mass window considered; in particular, the production of a standard model Higgs boson is excluded in the region 340相似文献   

Search for the Higgs boson in the H→WW→lνjj decay channel in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector

A search for a Higgs boson has been performed in the H→WW→?νjj channel in 1.04 fb(-1) of pp collision data at √s=7 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. No significant excess of events is observed over the expected background and limits on the Higgs boson production cross section are derived for a Higgs boson mass in the range 240 GeV相似文献   

Search for the decay τ− → vτηπ−

We have searched for the decay τ⁻ → v_τηπ⁻ using data accumulated by the ARGUS detector at the e⁺e⁻ storage ring DORIS II at DESY. No η signal was found in the π⁺π⁻π⁰ subsystems of the decay τ⁻ →v_τπ⁻π⁻π⁺ π⁰. We obtain an upper limit for the branching ratio of the decay τ⁻ → v_τηπ⁻ of 1.3% at the 95% confidence level.     

Search for dilepton resonances in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector

This Letter reports on a search for narrow high-mass resonances decaying into dilepton final states. The data were recorded by the ATLAS experiment in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider and correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 1.08 (1.21) fb(-1) in the e(+)e(-) (μ(+)μ(-)) channel. No statistically significant excess above the standard model expectation is observed and upper limits are set at the 95% C.L. on the cross section times branching fraction of Z' resonances and Randall-Sundrum gravitons decaying into dileptons as a function of the resonance mass. A lower mass limit of 1.83 TeV on the sequential standard model Z' boson is set. A Randall-Sundrum graviton with coupling k/M(Pl)=0.1 is excluded at 95% C.L. for masses below 1.63 TeV.     

Search for the rare decay B~0→J/ψφ

A search for the rare decay B~0→J/ψφ is performed using pp collision data collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7,8 and 13 TeV,corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb~(-1).No significant signal of the decay is observed and an upper limit of 1.1 x 10~(-7) at 90% confidence level is set on the branching fraction.     

Search for the singlet vector-like top quark in the T→tZ channel with Z→■ at hadron colliders

A search for the Higgs boson has been performed in the H→WW(*)→?(+)ν?(-)ν[over ˉ] channel (?=e/μ) with an integrated luminosity of 2.05 fb(-1) of pp collisions at √s=7 TeV collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Search for the standard model Higgs boson in the H→WW→lνq'q decay channel

We present a search for the standard model Higgs boson (H) in pp collisions at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV in events containing a charged lepton (?), missing transverse energy, and at least two jets, using 5.4 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity recorded with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. This analysis is sensitive primarily to Higgs bosons produced through the fusion of two gluons or two electroweak bosons, with subsequent decay H→WW→?νq'q, where ? is an electron or muon. The search is also sensitive to contributions from other production channels, such as WH→?νbb. In the absence of a signal, we set limits at the 95% C.L. on the cross section for H production σ(pp→H+X) in these final states. For a mass of M(H)=160 GeV, the limit is a factor of 3.9 larger than the cross section in the standard model and consistent with an a priori expected sensitivity of 5.0.     

Search for a transient electric field gradient in the system90Zr→148Nd with the crystal ball spectrometer

The particle- angular correlation of the 2⁺0⁺ transition in¹⁴⁸Nd, Coulomb excited by⁹⁰Zr projectiles, was investigated to search for a transient electric field gradient expected to be present during the stopping of the recoils in²⁰⁸Pb. An upper limit of V_zz <>¹⁹V/cm² was obtained for¹⁴⁸Nd recoiling with initial velocities of 0.05 c.     

Search for scalar bottom quark pair production with the ATLAS detector in pp collisions at sqrt[s]=7 TeV

The results of a search for pair production of the scalar partners of bottom quarks in 2.05 fb(-1) of pp collisions at sqrt[s]=7 TeV using the ATLAS experiment are reported. Scalar bottom quarks are searched for in events with large missing transverse momentum and two jets in the final state, where both jets are identified as originating from a bottom quark. In an R-parity conserving minimal supersymmetric scenario, assuming that the scalar bottom quark decays exclusively into a bottom quark and a neutralino, 95% confidence-level upper limits are obtained in the b(1) - χ(1)(0) mass plane such that for neutralino masses below 60 GeV scalar bottom masses up to 390 GeV are excluded.     

Search for proton-proton dibaryon resonances in the dp → (pp)n reaction

The pp mass distribution in the dp → (pp)n reaction has been measured at the deuteron momentum from 1700 to 2280 MeV/c. The results show no prominent peak which suggests the existence of dibaryon resonances in the mass range of 2000 to 2200 MeV/c².
