The notion of a pomeron structure function arises in a model of electromagnetic diffractive scattering based on Regge factorization. Due to its small size we expect gluon recombination to occur significantly in the pomeron. The latest data from H1 (1999) show a evolution in qualitative accordance with the GLR-MQ equations; these are the DGLAP (Altarelli–Parisi) equations corrected for the effect of gluon recombination. We demonstrate that in each ghost-free dual model with one minor restriction, there exists a critical dimensionality of space-time in which the pomeron singularity becomes a factorizable Regge pole. In each model when this dimensionality is chosen, the pomeron emerges with twice the intercept and half the slope of the leading secondary (f) trajectory. We explicitly construct the pomeron propagator and the operator coupling the pomeron to the reggeon sector for the general dual model, including the lower-lying negative-G-parity pomeron in the Neveu-Schwarz model. Gauge identities and physical states in the pomeron sector are also investigated. In all of the dual models the pomeron form factors exhibit a generalized f dominance and modified Wu-Yang behavior.  相似文献

The total hadronic cross sections at high energy are calculated as a function of energy and photon virtuality in a model combining Reggeon exchange, the quark box diagram (a fixed pole in Regge language) and soft and hard pomeron exchanges evaluated in the context of dipole-dipole scattering. Good agreement is obtained with the data for the real cross section and for the real photon structure function . However the model prediction for the cross section is too small. This is attributed to an incorrect extrapolation of the dependence of the hard pomeron adopted here. Parametrising it independently shows that the hard part of the cross section can be well represented by a simple Regge pole with intercept . We derive and investigate an integral equation for the “cylinder” with full t-dependence. In contrast to the pure pole planar model, the “cylinder” contains, in addition to the bare pomeron pole, also a Reggeon-Reggeon cut. The strongly correlated slope and intercept of the bare pomeron have the correct observed values. We also briefly comment on the concept of “asymptotic planarity”.  相似文献

We investigate the reaction where PS denotes a pseudoscalar meson , , , or and X either a proton or resonance or continuum state into which the proton can go by diffractive excitation. At high energies photon and odderon exchange contribute to the reaction. The photon exchange contribution is evaluated exactly using data for the total virtual photon-proton absorption cross section. The odderon exchange contribution is calculated in nonperturbative QCD, using functional integral techniques and the model of the stochastic vacuum. For the proton we assume a quark-diquark structure as suggested by the small odderon amplitude in pp and forward scattering. We show that odderon exchange leads to a much larger inelastic than elastic PS production cross section. Observation of our reaction at HERA would establish the soft odderon as an exchange object on an equal footing with the soft pomeron and would give us valuable insight into both the nucleon structure and the mechanism of high energy diffractive scattering. We present a study of associated J/ψ+γ production through double pomeron exchange at energies reached at the Fermilab Tevatron.and CERN LHC based on the Ingelman-Schlein model for hard difiactive scattering and the factorization formalism of nonrelativistic QCD for quarkonia production. We find that the process p+p→p +p + J/ψ+γ + X can be used to probe the gluon content of the pomeron and study the nature of hard difiactive factorization breaking.  相似文献

We perform a novel type of analysis of diffractive deep-inelastic scattering data, in which the input parton distributions of the pomeron are parameterised using the perturbative QCD expressions. In particular, we treat individually the components of the pomeron of different size. We are able to describe simultaneously both the recent ZEUS and H1 diffractive data. In addition to the usual two-gluon model for the perturbative pomeron, we allow for the possibility that it may be made from two sea quarks.Received: 12 July 2004, Revised: 3 September 2004, Published online: 24 September 2004  相似文献

A simple model of the vacuum is developed in order to explain the properties of the pomeron observed in experiments. In the model, pomeron exchange corresponds to two-gluon exchange. We explain how it can be that when the pomeron couples to a hadron, the two gluons couple predominantly to the same quark in the hadron, and how together their coupling is similar to that of aC=1 isoscalar photon.  相似文献

In the hard pomeron theory with the number of colours the diffractive amplitude obtained in [3] is compared with the results found for in [1] and in the dipole approach in [5]. It is shown that the double pomeron exchange contribution can be substituted by an equivalent triple pomeron interaction term. After such a substitution the triple pomeron vertices in [1,3,5] essentially coincide. It is demonstrated that, in any form, the triple pomeron vertex is conformal invariant. It is also shown that higher order densities in the dipole approach do not involve 1 to k pomeron verteces with but are rather given by a set of pomeron fan diagrams with only a triple pomeron coupling. The gluon recombination effect in the pomeron is studied by using the modified Gribov-Levin-Ryskin evolution equation. We find that the measured parton distributions in the pomeron can be generated dynamically from a purely gluonic input on assuming a small size for the pomeron.  相似文献

Analyticity requirements lead to complex Regge vertices in multiparticle production amplitudes. Their effect is discussed within a dual, unitary and exchange-degenerate multi-Regge model. A resulting complex Regge vertex is incorporated in fixed-t model calculations of the reggeon bootstrap and the topological pomeron. The bootstrap condition for particle-particle scattering is unaffected but new j-plane singularities appear in Regge-Regge scattering amplitudes. The pomeron and reggeon intercepts determine the two parameters of our Regge vertex and admit two possible solutions: one is close to the naive phase rule (real vertex) and the other is complex and leads to a high lying non-leading pole in the pomeron channel.  相似文献

Using a one-dimensional approximation, the pomeron in the dual unitarity scheme is examined analytically in a multiperipheral cluster model. Clusters have negative short range correlations due to the tmin effect. In dual models, the pomeron has a crossing odd part, especially in BB and BB scattering. By taking all reggeon loops into account, we show explicitly in our approximation that the crossing-odd part has only lower-lying singularities in the j-plane (typically complex poles with Reα?0.2) whereas the crossing-even part has the leading singularity at j = αP (we imposed αP = 1). The dual unitarity scheme leads to a modified version of the f-dominance of the pomeron. We calculate the SU(3) breaking of the pomeron due to the SU(3) breaking among Regge trajectories without additional assumptions on the SU(3) property of the pomeron.  相似文献

We determine the intermediate mass distribution of the dual resonance pomeron at the one-loop level and we show that the mass distribution obtained is remarkably similar to a suitably defined mass distribution in the dual multiperipheral model. Thus it is suggestive to identify the intermediate states of the dual resonance pomeron with multipheripheral processes.  相似文献

We consider a model for elastic scattering and inelastic diffractive production at high energy, which is inspired by Quantum Chromodynamics. The pomeron arises in our model from gluon exchange between quark constituents. The color-neutrality of each hadron implies strong cancellations among the gluon exchanges. Hence our model is “subtractive”, in contrast to the old “additive” quark model. The subtractive model provides a natural explanation for the large cross section which is observed for diffractive dissociation. We show that multiple gluon exchange contributes significantly, alongside two gluon exchange, in building the pomeron.  相似文献

We study the rôle of semiclassical QCD vacuum solutions in high-energy scattering by considering the instanton contribution to hadronic cross sections. We propose a new type of instanton-induced interactions (“instanton ladder”) that leads to the rising with energy cross section σsΔ of Regge type (the pomeron). We argue that this interaction may be responsible for the structure of the soft pomeron. The intercept Δ>0 is calculated. It has a nonanalytic dependence on the strong coupling constant, allowing a nonsingular continuation into the nonperturbative region. We derive the pomeron trajectory, which appears to be approximately linear in some range of (negative) momentum transfer t, but exhibits a curvature at small t. Possible rôle of instantons in multiparticle production is also discussed.  相似文献

We estimate the size of the triple-pomeron vertex in perturbative QCD and compare with the phenomenological value extracted from Regge fits to the experimental data. For simplicity, the results of the QCD analysis are taken in the large-Nc limit. We find that the perturbative triple-pomeron coupling is of the same order of magnitude as the observed one. We also estimate the size of the pomeron self-energy and its contribution to the renormalization of the pomeron intercept. The effect is very small, in agreement with previous non-perturbative estimates. Received: 9 October 2002 / Published online: 20 December 2002  相似文献

A model of a three pomeron contribution to high energy elastic pp and scattering is proposed. The data are well described for all momenta ( GeV) and energies ( GeV) (). The model predicts the appearance of two dips in the differential cross-section which will be measured at LHC. The parameters of the pomeron trajectories are . The violation of the Froissart bound resulting from repeated exchanges of pomerons in a multi-Regge model is avoided by assuming that some pomeron couplings vanish. The couplings can be chosen such that an input pomeron can produce an output pole coinciding with the input pomeron, and a two-pomeron cut. The main aim is to show that the structure of pomeron couplings can play an important role in calculations involving many pomerons  相似文献
