Toroidal multipoles have recently been explored in various scientific communities, ranging from atomic and molecular physics, electrodynamics, and solid‐state physics to biology. Here we experimentally and numerically demonstrate a three‐dimensionsal toroidal metamaterial where two different toroidal dipoles along orthogonal directions have been observed. The chosen toroidal metamaterial also simultaneously supports Fano resonance and the classical analog of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) phenomena in the transmission spectra that originate from the electric–toroidal dipole and electric–magnetic dipole destructive interference. The intriguing properties of the toroidal resonances may open up avenues for applications in toroidal moments generator, sensing and slow‐light devices.  相似文献

Electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) is obtained in a symmetric U-shaped metamaterial, which is at- tributed to the simultaneously excited dual modes in a single resonator under lateral incidence. We present a laser frequency locking to Rydberg transition with electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT)spectra in a room-temperature cesium vapor cell. Cesium levels 6S_(1/2), 6P_(3/2), and the n D_(5/2) state, compose a cascade three-level system, where a coupling laser drives Rydberg transition, and probe laser detects the EIT signal. The error signal, obtained by demodulating the EIT signal, is used to lock the coupling laser frequency to Rydberg transition. The laser frequency fluctuation, ~0.7 MHz, is obtained after locking on, with the minimum Allan variance to be 8.9 × 10~(-11).This kind of locking method can be used to stabilize the laser frequency to the excited transition.  相似文献

本文对准型四能级系统中探测功率展宽效应引起的非线性效应进行了理论研究。准型四能级系统包括三个基态精细结构能级和一个激发态能级,除光学耦合场和探测场分别激励一个基态精细结构能级和激发态能级之间的跃迁外,附加了一个射频驱动场作用于其中一个基态精细结构能级和另一个新的基态精细结构能级之间,并通过与耦合场驱动共同能级建立量子相关性。研究结果表明,在射频驱动场的辅助激励下,探测功率展宽效应不仅可以使EIT的线宽增宽,还能引起吸收曲线中的类色散特性,使EIT最终变化为EIA。  相似文献

We aim to present a new scheme for high-dimensional atomic microscopy via double electromagnetically induced transparency in a four-level tripod system. For atom–field interaction, we construct a spatially dependent field by superimposing three standing-wave fields(SWFs) in 3 D-atom localization. We achieve a high precision and high spatial resolution of an atom localization by appropriately adjusting the system variables such as field intensities and phase shifts. We also see the impact of Doppler shift and show that it dramatically deteriorates the precision of spatial information on 3 D-atom localization. We believe that our suggested scheme opens up a fascinating way to improve the atom localization that supplies some practical applications in atom nanolithography, and Bose–Einstein condensation.  相似文献

采用一束相干外场作用在倒Y模型原子的基态与另外状态构成的跃迁上,实现对单光子和双光子电磁诱导透明谱的调制。经研究发现相干外场对单光子和双光子的吸收性质有类似的影响效果。由于相干外场的作用,吸收谱的共振点附近出现吸收峰将原单重透明谱分裂为双重透明谱。诱导的吸收峰的高度和透明谱的频谱宽度与相干外场的强度有密切关系。并用缀饰态理论解释了这些物理现象。这些研究对多通道光通信以及对原子光学性质的调控方面有积极意义。  相似文献

We theoretically investigate an enhanced electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) cooling method by introduc- ing a high finesse cavity. We find that the quantum destructive interference that is induced by the EIT effect and the cavity coupling can eliminate all of the heating effects in the cooling process by choosing appropriate parameters. Compared with the EIT cooling scheme, a lower final temperature can be obtained under the same conditions in our scheme.  相似文献

本文在典型的里德伯电磁感应透明系统中研究弱探测场在相互作用原子系统中的传播特性,重点关注基于偶极阻塞效应的探测场相位的合作光学非线性行为.通过与探测场透射率和光子关联作对比,发现相位的光学响应具有新特性:共振和Autler-Townes劈裂条件下相位对入射场强和初始光子关联不敏感,而在两者之间的频率范围内相位响应具有非线性特征,尤其在经典光频率处最显著.此外,提高主量子数和原子密度都会促进相位的非线性效应.综上,与探测场透射率和光子关联一样,相位可以作为合作光学非线性的另一个标识来刻画非线性现象,对里德伯电磁感应透明研究是一个有力的补充.  相似文献

利用电磁诱导透明效应提供的高色散和非线性系数, 研究暗孤子的形成环境以及孤子演化与环境参数的关系. 为了提高电磁诱导透明的稳定性和可操作性, 用双势阱半导体作为基质材料. 将量子理论和经典场理论结合, 获得了非线性薛定谔方程. 以非线性薛定谔方程为基础, 研究暗孤子的形成条件, 以及孤子演化与环境参数的关系. 研究结果表明: 当介质为反常色散同时交叉相位调制为负时, 在该介质中可以形成和传播暗孤子; 暗孤子演化中, 脉宽、灰度与相位相互关联, 脉宽越小、灰度越大, 相位增长越迅速. 此外, 研究了系统的调制不稳定性, 探讨了在调制不稳定下的增益谱.  相似文献

We performed an experimental study on the dependence of the linewidth of electromagetically induced transparency (EIT) on the temperature of medium in a Λ-type configuration using caesium vapour. We found that the transparent window is narrowed in the EIT whose two ground levels are composed of two hyperfine levels, and broadened in the case when the two ground levels are degenerated Zeeman sublevels, as the temperature of vapour cell is increased. The explanation for the phenomena is given qualitatively.  相似文献

在通常的Λ型三能级系统中,光学耦合场和探测场分别激发两个不同的光学跃迁,探测吸收谱呈现电磁诱导透明(EIT)特性.若将此系统拓展为光学-射频双光子耦合场和探测场共同作用下的准Λ型四能级系统,探测吸收谱呈现电磁诱导吸收(EIA)和EIT两种特性.通过求解系统的密度矩阵方程,分析了EIA和EIT的产生条件,并给出了相应的缀饰态解释.研究结果表明,在准Λ型四能级系统中,光学耦合场对EIA和EIT的形成起决定作用,共振时出现EIA,非共振时出现EIT,而且EIA和EIT的线宽随着光学耦合场拉比频率的增大而增加. 关键词: 电磁诱导透明 电磁诱导吸收 射频场 光学耦合场  相似文献

We study the ultraslow optical solitons in a resonant three-level atomic system via electromagnetically induced transparency under a density-matrix (DM) approach. The results of linear and nonlinear optical properties are compared with those obtained by using an amplitude variable (AV) approach. It is found that the results for both approaches are the same in the linear regime if the corresponding relations between the population-coherence decay rates in the DM approach and the energy-level decay rates in the AV approach are appropriately imposed. However, in the nonlinear regime there is a small difference for the self-phase modulation coefficient of the nonlinear Schr\"{o}dinger equation that governs the time evolution of probe pulse envelope. All analytical predicts are checked by numerical simulations.  相似文献

An approach for solving the excitonic absorption in a semiconductor quantum well driven by an intense terahertz field is presented.The formalism relies on the stationary single-photon Schro¨dinger equation in the full quantum mechanical framework.The optical absorption dynamics in both weak and strong couplings are discussed and compared.The excitonic absorption spectra show the Autler-Townes doublets for the resonance terahertz field,a replica peak for the non-resonance terahertz field,and the electromagnetically induced transparency phenomenon for modulating the decay rate of the second electron state in the weak coupling.In particular,the electromagnetically induced transparency phenomenon window range is discussed.In the strong coupling region,the multi-order energy level resonance splitting due to the strong optical field is found.There are three(non-resonance terahertz field) or four(resonance terahertz field) peaks in the optical absorption spectra.This work provides a simple and convenient approach to deal with the optical absorption in the exciton system.  相似文献

We numerically demonstrate a photo-excited plasmon-induced transparency (PIT) effect in hybrid terahertz (THz) metamaterials. The proposed metamaterials are regular arrays of hybrid unit cells composed of a metallic cut wire and four metallic split-ring resonators (SRRs) whose gaps are filled with photosensitive semiconductor gallium arsenide (GaAs) patches. We simulate the PIT effect controlled by external infrared light intensity to change the conductivity of GaAs. In the absence of photo excitation, the conductivity of GaAs is 0, thus the SRR gaps are disconnected, and the PIT effect is not observed since the dark resonator (supported by the hybrid SRRs) cannot be stimulated. When the conductivity of GaAs is increased via photo excitation, the conductivity of GaAs can increase rapidly from 0 S/m to 1×106 S/m and GaAs can connect the metal aluminum SRR gaps, and the dark resonator is excited through coupling with the bright resonator (supported by the cut wire), which leads to the PIT effect. Therefore, the PIT effect can be dynamically tuned between the on and off states by controlling the intensity of the external infrared light. We also discuss couplings between one bright mode (CW) and several dark modes (SRRs) with different sizes. The interference analytically described by the coupled Lorentz oscillator model elucidates the coupling mechanism between one bright mode and two dark modes. The phenomenon can be considered the result of linear superposition of the coupling between the bright mode and each dark mode. The proposed metamaterials are promising for application in the fields of THz communications, optical storage, optical display, and imaging.  相似文献

A novel long-wavelength infrared (IR) photodetector based on Electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) which is suitable for operation in about room temperature and THz range is proposed and analyzed in detail in this article. The main point in this paper for operation in room temperature is related to convert the incoming long-wavelength IR signal to short-wavelength or visible probe optical field through EIT phenomena. For realization of the idea, we used 4, 5- and 6-level atoms implemented by quantum wells or dots. In the proposed structure long-wavelength IR signal does not interact directly with electrons, but affects the absorption characteristics of short-wavelength or visible probe optical field. Therefore, the proposed structure reduces and cancels out the important thermionic dark current component. So, the proposed idea can operate as long wavelength photodetector.  相似文献

利用多重尺度法,解析地研究了V型五能级超冷原子电磁感应透明介质中弱的线偏振探测光的传播特性. 结果表明,仅考虑系统的线性效应,随着耦合光强度的增加,介质对探测光的吸收迅速减少,而探测光的传播速度逐渐增加,但比真空中的光速要低若干个数量级. 同时发现,在相同的外加磁场下探测光的非线性法拉第偏转方向与线性法拉第偏转相反,且偏转角更大. 这说明电磁感应透明介质中探测光的法拉第偏转主要是由系统的非线性效应调控. 关键词: 电磁感应透明 非线性法拉第偏转  相似文献

In the five-level K-type atomic system, by using another control field to couple the excited level of the coupling transition to the sixth higher excited level, a six-level atomic system is constructed. In this system, the multiple electromagnetically induced two-photon transparency has been investigated. What is more, if choosing the parameters of the control fields properly the triple transparency window will reduce to a double one which means that the multiple electromagnetically induced two-photon transparency can be manipulated in this system. The physical interpretation of these phenomena is given in terms of the dressed states and the dark states.  相似文献

In this paper, based on the constructive interference of plasmonic dipolar and quadrupolar modes, a classical analogue of electromagnetically induced absorption (EIA) is demonstrated theoretically in a stacked metamaterial consisting of a short metal strip (which acts as a bright resonator) and a long metal strip (acting as a dark resonator), which has been reported to support the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) effect. The transition from EIA to EIT can be clearly observed in the absorbance spectra via varying the vertical spacing between two resonant oscillators. With the help of the coupled two-oscillator model, the phase shift between the bright and dark resonance modes is calculated by fitting the simulated absorbance spectra, which reveals the physical mechanisms behind constructive and destructive interference effects in EIT/EIA metamaterials.  相似文献
