We generalize the classical Bochner formula for the heat flow on M to martingales on the path space PM and develop a formalism to compute evolution equations for martingales on path space. We see that our Bochner formula on PM is related to two‐sided bounds on Ricci curvature in much the same manner that the classical Bochner formula on M is related to lower bounds on Ricci curvature. Using this formalism, we obtain new characterizations of bounded Ricci curvature, new gradient estimates for martingales on path space, new Hessian estimates for martingales on path space, and streamlined proofs of the previous characterizations of bounded Ricci curvature.© 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the multiplication operators on the space of complex-valued functions f on the set of vertices of a rooted infinite tree T which are Lipschitz when regarded as maps between metric spaces. The metric structure on T is induced by the distance function that counts the number of edges of the unique path connecting pairs of vertices, while the metric on ℂ is Euclidean. After observing that the space L{\mathcal{L}} of such functions can be endowed with a Banach space structure, we characterize the multiplication operators on L{\mathcal{L}} that are bounded, bounded below, and compact. In addition, we establish estimates on the operator norm and on the essential norm, and determine the spectrum. We then prove that the only isometric multiplication operators on L{\mathcal{L}} are the operators whose symbol is a constant of modulus one. We also study the multiplication operators on a separable subspace of L{\mathcal{L}} we call the little Lipschitz space.  相似文献

As we know, B.Sz-Nagy and C.Foins studied systematically contractions on Hilbert spaces and developed the harmonic analysis theory of operators on Hilbert spaces. Since 1950s, people paid great attention to the study of contractions on πk spaces. Only a few results have been obtained until today; in particular, the spectral theory of contractions on πk Spaces and corresponding harmonic analysis theory have left still unexplored. This paper, as a continuation of [1], [2], [6], in which the authors after discussing some problems such as the negative invariant subspaces and unitary dilations of contractions on complete spaces with indefinite metrics, establish the triangle model of contractions on πk spaces and furthermore, apply the triangle model to the study of spectral theory of contractions on πk spaces, which is essential to the harmonic analysis of operators on πk spaces.  相似文献

The question on the existence of nontrivial pseudocharacters on anomalous products of locally indicable groups is considered. Some generalizations of theorems of R. I. Grigorchuk and V. G. Bardakov on the existence of nontrivial pseudocharacters on free products with the amalgamation subgroup are found. It is proved that they exist on an anomalous product 〈G, x | w = 1〉, where G is a locally indicable noncyclic group. We also prove some other propositions on the existence of nontrivial pseudocharacters on anomalous products of groups. A method is proposed to quantify uncertainty on statistical forecasts using the formalism of belief functions. The approach is based on two steps. In the estimation step, a belief function on the parameter space is constructed from the normalized likelihood given the observed data. In the prediction step, the variable Y to be forecasted is written as a function of the parameter θ and an auxiliary random variable Z with known distribution not depending on the parameter, a model initially proposed by Dempster for statistical inference. Propagating beliefs about θ and Z through this model yields a predictive belief function on Y. The method is demonstrated on the problem of forecasting innovation diffusion using the Bass model, yielding a belief function on the number of adopters of an innovation in some future time period, based on past adoption data.  相似文献

In this paper the relation between De Morgan triples on the unit interval and Atanassov’s intuitionistic De Morgan triples is presented, showing how to obtain, in a canonical way, Atanassov’s intuitionistic De Morgan triples from De Morgan triples. Moreover, we also show that the automorphisms on the unit interval and on L∗ (the intuitionistic value lattice) are in one-to-one correspondence and how automorphisms on L∗ act on Atanassov’s intuitionistic De Morgan triples. It is also proved that the action of automorphisms and the canonical construction of De Morgan triples on L∗ commutes.  相似文献

We consider the well-known Szegö — Kolmogorov — Krein theorems on weighted approximations by functions with semibounded spectra defined on a circle or on a line and suggest an efficient construction that realizes these approximations. Local refinement techniques for elliptic problems on cell-centered grids   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Summary Algebraic multilevel analogues of the BEPS preconditioner designed for solving discrete elliptic problems on grids with local refinement are formulated, and bounds on their relative condition numbers, with respect to the composite-grid matrix, are derived. TheV-cycle and, more generally,v-foldV-cycle multilevel BEPS preconditioners are presented and studied. It is proved that for 2-D problems theV-cycle multilevel BEPS is almost optimal, whereas thev-foldV-cycle algebraic multilevel BEPS is optimal under a mild restriction on the composite cell-centered grid. For thev-fold multilevel BEPS, the variational relation between the finite difference matrix and the corresponding matrix on the next-coarser level is not necessarily required. Since they are purely algebraically derived, thev-fold (v>1) multilevel BEPS preconditioners perform without any restrictionson the shape of subregions, unless the refinement is too fast. For theV-cycle BEPS preconditioner (2-D problem), a variational relation between the matrices on two consecutive grids is required, but there is no restriction on the method of refinement on the shape, or on the size of the subdomains.  相似文献

Abstract

This is a report on a number of recent results on composition operators which map, for 0 < p ? q ∞, the Hardy space Hp (on the unit disk in the complex plane) into H q. Attention is focused on questions of boundedness (existence), compactness, order boundedness and, in connection with the latter, on relating the absolutely summing and nuclearity character as well as special factorization properties of the operator to function theoretic properties of the defining symbol. Moreover, tools are provided to show that certain classes of operators can well be distinguished already on the level of composition operators.  相似文献

We show that for almost all points on any analytic curve on ℝ k which is not contained in a proper affine subspace, the Dirichlet’s theorem on simultaneous approximation, as well as its dual result for simultaneous approximation of linear forms, cannot be improved. The result is obtained by proving asymptotic equidistribution of evolution of a curve on a strongly unstable leaf under certain partially hyperbolic flow on the space of unimodular lattices in ℝ k+1. The proof involves Ratner’s theorem on ergodic properties of unipotent flows on homogeneous spaces. Dedicated to my inspiring teacher Professor A.R. Rao (VASCSC, Ahmedabad) on his 100th birthday. Ranked set sampling is applicable whenever ranking of a set of sampling units can be done easily by a judgement method or based on the measurement of an auxiliary variable on the units selected. In this work, we consider ranked set sampling, in which ranking of units are done based on measurements made on an easily and exactly measurable auxiliary variable X which is correlated with the study variable Y. We then estimate the mean of the study variate Y by the BLUE based on the measurements made on the units of the ranked set sampling regarding the study variable Y, when (X ,Y) follows a Morgenstern type bivariate exponential distribution. We then consider unbalanced multistage ranked set sampling and estimate the mean of the study variate Y by the BLUE based on the observations made on the units of multistage ranked set sample regarding the study variable Y. Efficiency comparison is also made on all estimators considered in this work.  相似文献

We give an alternative and direct approach to the Choquet integral representability of a comonotonically additive, bounded, monotone functional I defined on the space of all continuous, real-valued functions on a locally compact space X with compact support and on the space of all continuous, real-valued functions on X vanishing at infinity. To this end, we introduce the notion of the asymptotic translatability of the functional I and show that this simple notion is equivalent to the Choquet integral representability of I with respect to a monotone measure on X with appropriate regularity.  相似文献

For 1≤ p ∞, firstly we prove that for an arbitrary set of distinct nodes in [-1, 1], it is impossible that the errors of the Hermite-Fejr interpolation approximation in L p -norm are weakly equivalent to the corresponding errors of the best polynomial approximation for all continuous functions on [-1, 1]. Secondly, on the ground of probability theory, we discuss the p-average errors of Hermite-Fejr interpolation sequence based on the extended Chebyshev nodes of the second kind on the Wiener space. By our results we know that for 1≤ p ∞ and 2≤ q ∞, the p-average errors of Hermite-Fejr interpolation approximation sequence based on the extended Chebyshev nodes of the second kind are weakly equivalent to the p-average errors of the corresponding best polynomial approximation sequence for L q -norm approximation. In comparison with these results, we discuss the p-average errors of Hermite-Fejr interpolation approximation sequence based on the Chebyshev nodes of the second kind and the p-average errors of the well-known Bernstein polynomial approximation sequence on the Wiener space.  相似文献

We study the Berezin transform of bounded operators on the Bergman space on a bounded symmetric domain Ω in Cn. The invariance of range of the Berezin transform with respect to G=Aut(Ω), the automorphism group of biholomorphic maps on Ω, is derived based on the general framework on invariant symbolic calculi on symmetric domains established by Arazy and Upmeier. Moreover we show that as a smooth bounded function, the Berezin transform of any bounded operator is also bounded under the action of the algebra of invariant differential operators generated by the Laplace-Beltrami operator on the unit disk and even on the unit ball of higher dimensions.  相似文献

In this paper, univariate cubic L 1 interpolating splines based on the first derivative and on 5-point windows are introduced. Analytical results for minimizing the local spline functional on 5-point windows are presented and, based on these results, an efficient algorithm for calculating the spline coefficients is set up. It is shown that cubic L 1 splines based on the first derivative and on 5-point windows preserve linearity of the original data and avoid extraneous oscillation. Computational examples, including comparison with first-derivative-based cubic L 1 splines calculated by a primal affine algorithm and with second-derivative-based cubic L 1 splines, show the advantages of the first-derivative-based cubic L 1 splines calculated by the new algorithm.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to study the asymptotic behavior of the zeros of polynomials of near best approximation to continuous functions f on a compact set E in the case when f is analytic on the interior of E but not everywhere on the boundary. For example, suppose E is a finite union of compact intervals of the real line and f is a continuous function on E, but is not analytic on E; then we show (cf. Corollary 2.2) that every point of E is a limit point of zeros of the polynomials of best uniform approximation to f on E. This fact answers a question posed by P. Borwein who showed that, for the case when E is a single interval and f is real-valued, then the above hypotheses on f imply that at least one point of E is the limit point of zeros of such polynomials.  相似文献
