In this paper, we study the mathematical program with system of equilibrium constraints. This problem contains bilevel program with system of equilibrium constraints, semi-infinite program with system of equilibrium constraints, mathematical program with Nash equilibrium constraints, mathematical program with system of mixed variational like inequalities constraints. We create a general framework for mathematical study of variational inequalities for a system of elliptic–parabolic equations. In this paper, we establish a solvability theorem concerning the existence of solutions for the vector-valued elliptic–parabolic variational inequality with time-dependent constraint. The inverse problem for mathematical models of heart excitation is stated; this problem is to determine the initial condition in the initial-boundary value problem for an evolutionary system of partial differential equations given the volume potential whose density is determined by the solution to the evolutionary system. An approach to overcome the bike imbalance problem is to transfer excess bikes to branches with bike shortages. This study develops a constrained mathematical model to deal with a multi-vehicle bike-repositioning problem, and aims to minimize the sum of transportation and unmet demand costs over a planning horizon through bike-transfer strategies under a minimum service requirement. A two-phase heuristic based on linear programming was proposed to solve the problem and produce compromising solutions. In the first phase, the paper developed a linear programming model to quickly develop decisions related to bike inventory, unloading, and loading for all stations for each time slot. In the second phase, this paper proposed an iterative approach through two parameter sensitive mathematical models to sequentially reduce the problem scale to develop decisions related to bike transfers. Computational results show that the proposed approach is superior to a CPLEX optimizer and a hybrid heuristic based on a genetic algorithm. The proposed approach was used to analyze the bicycle system in Taiwan. The impacts of various system parameters on the system were also investigated.  相似文献

A decision-support system for the Fiber Deployment Plan problem is developed for the telephone cable network design in the telecommunications industry. The system employs a Geographic Information System (GIS) and uses combinatorial optimization techniques as its components. A mathematical combinatorial optimization model is formulated for the problem and a heuristic solution procedure is developed for the model. A GIS within the ESRI Arc/INFO and ArcView environment is used to provide data needed to build the mathematical combinatorial optimization model and to furnish an interface between the users and computers in data input and in solution result display. Combinatorial optimization techniques are used in the heuristic solution procedure to find good solutions for the optimization model. The developed decision-support system has been used to real life problems and has resulted in tremendous improvements in the telephone cable network design process. The user is completely satisfied with the performance of the system.  相似文献

In this paper, a mathematical analysis is given of an inversenon–local elliptic boundary–value problem for conductivityprospecting with a patched–electrode well-log instrument.As the electrode cells of the patched electrode system becomesmaller and smaller, the microscopic structure of the electrodesystem becomes increasingly complicated and themathematicalanalysis becomes much more difficult. Nevertheless, it is shownthat the electrode system can be homogenized macroscopically;that is, the solution of the inverse problem for the patchedelectrode system converges to the solution of the correspondinginverse problem for the original electrode system.  相似文献

The First Hilbert problem is studied in this paper by applying two instruments: a new methodology distinguishing between mathematical objects and mathematical languages used to describe these objects; and a new numeral system allowing one to express different infinite numbers and to use these numbers for measuring infinite sets. Several counting systems are taken into consideration. It is emphasized in the paper that different mathematical languages can describe mathematical objects (in particular, sets and the number of their elements) with different accuracies. Parameter identification problem of a three species (predator, mutualist-prey, and mutualist) ecological system with reaction-diffusion phenomenon is investigated in this paper. Nonlinear control systems possessing the flatness property are encountered in many applied mathematical models. In this paper, a trajectory survival problem is considered for a specific nonlinear system that possesses the above property. A method based on the properties of the system is proposed for constructing a control that solves the trajectory survival problem when the controlled object moves to the goal set within a bounding set containing an obstacle. This paper is concerned with the development of a mathematical model for solving the problem of equipment selection in just-in-time (JIT) manufacturing systems. Equipment selection issues are important, particularly during the initial stages of implementing JIT. In this paper a mathematical model is proposed for capacity planning and for selecting equipment in a multi-stage JIT production system. Fractional dynamics is a growing topic in theoretical and experimental scientific research. A classical problem is the initialization required by fractional operators. While the problem is clear from the mathematical point of view, it constitutes a challenge in applied sciences. This paper addresses the problem of initialization and its effect upon dynamical system simulation when adopting numerical approximations. The results are compatible with system dynamics and clarify the formulation of adequate values for the initial conditions in numerical simulations.  相似文献

Many control problems can be formulated as driving a system to reach some target states while avoiding some unwanted states. We study this problem for systems with regime change operating in uncertain environments. Nowadays, it is a common practice to model such systems in the framework of stochastic hybrid system models. In this casting, the problem is formalized as a mathematical problem named state constrained stochastic reachability analysis. In the state constrained stochastic reachability analysis, this probability is computed by imposing a constraint on the system to avoid the unwanted states. The scope of this paper is twofold. First we define and investigate the state constrained reachability analysis in an abstract mathematical setting. We define the problem for a general model of stochastic hybrid systems, and we show that the reach probabilities can be computed as solutions of an elliptic integro-differential equation. Moreover, we extend the problem by considering randomized targets. We approach this extension using stochastic dynamic programming. The second scope is to define a developmental setting in which the state constrained reachability analysis becomes more tractable. This framework is based on multilayer modelling of a stochastic system using hierarchical viewpoints. Viewpoints represent a method originated from software engineering, where a system is described by multiple models created from different perspectives. Using viewpoints, the reach probabilities can be easily computed, or even symbolically calculated. The reach probabilities computed in one viewpoint can be used in another viewpoint for improving the system control. We illustrate this technique for trajectory design.  相似文献

The complex distribution problem of magazine and newspaper wholesalers is an ideal field for the application of mathematical methods, though the success of consultancy projects in this sector does not depend on the quality of the methods alone. Before building models to describe the distribution problem, it is necessary to identify the specific charateristics of routing plants in the press wholesaling sector, and to choose an adequate and acceptable approach to the problem, both from a theoretical and a practical perspective. Thereafter, models for the road system, time structure and delivery volume are built and integrated into a consultancy process. The consultancy approach underlines that optimisation of routing plans in this sector is more than just a pure mathematical problem, but that a project's success depends essentially on the constructional team work of client and consultant.  相似文献

The work presents the qualitative analysis of the free boundary value problem related to the detachment process in multispecies biofilms. In the framework of continuum approach to one-dimensional mathematical modelling of multispecies biofilm growth, we consider the system of nonlinear hyperbolic partial differential equations governing the microbial species growth, the differential equation for the biomass velocity, the differential equation that governs the free boundary evolution and also accounts for detachment, and the elliptic system for substrate dynamics. The characteristics are used to convert the original moving boundary equation into a suitable differential equation useful to solve the mathematical problem. We also provide another form of the same equation that could be used in numerical applications. Several properties of the solutions to the free boundary problem are shown, such as positiveness of the functions that describe the microbial concentrations and estimates on the characteristic functions. Uniqueness and existence of solutions are proved by introducing a suitable system of Volterra integral equations and using the fixed point theorem.
