Using a geometric approach (in particular, angles between subspaces), we establish useful estimates regarding convergence of infinite products involving orthogonal projections and other (possibly nonlinear) nonexpansive operators in Hilbert space.  相似文献

We give a necessary and sufficient condition for a certain set of infinite products of linear operators to be zero. We shall investigate also the case when this set of infinite products converges to a non-zero operator. The main device in these results is a weighted version of the König Lemma for infinite trees in graph theory.

Let {T1, ..., TN} be a finite set of linear contraction mappings of a Hilbert space H into itself, and let r be a mapping from the natural numbers N to {1, ..., N}. One can form Sn=Tr(n)...Tr(1) which could be described as a random product of the Ti's. Roughly, the Sn converge strongly in the mean, but additional side conditions are necessary to ensure uniform, strong or weak convergence. We examine contractions with three such conditions. (W): xn1, Txn1 implies (I-T)xn0 weakly, (S): xn1, Txn1 implies (I-T)xn0 strongly, and (K): there exists a constant K>0 such that for all x, (I-T)x2K(x2–Tx2).We have three main results in the event that the Ti's are compact contractions. First, if r assumes each value infinitely often, then Sn converges uniformly to the projection Q on the subspace i= 1 N [x|Tix=x]. Secondly we prove that for such compact contractions, the three conditions (W), (S), and (K) are equivalent. Finally if S=S(T1, ..., TN) denotes the algebraic semigroup generated by the Ti's, then there exists a fixed positive constant K such that each element in S satisfies (K) with that K.  相似文献

In this paper, we show that a generic nonexpansive operator on a closed and convex, but not necessarily bounded, subset of a hyperbolic space has a unique fixed point which attracts the Krasnoselskii-Mann iterations of this operator.  相似文献

The essential normality of some classes of operators in stabilized infinite tensor products of Hilbert spaces is established by using the general criteria for the domains of definition of spectral integrals to be essential.Translated from Ukrainskii Matematicheskii Zhurnal, Vol. 46, No. 9, pp. 1164–1170, September, 1994.  相似文献

Let K be a closed cone with nonempty interior in a Banach space X. Suppose that is order-preserving and homogeneous of degree one. Let be a continuous, homogeneous of degree one map such that q(x)>0 for all xK?{0}. Let T(x)=f(x)/q(f(x)). We give conditions on the cone K and the map f which imply that there is a convex subset of ∂K which contains the omega limit set ω(x;T) for every x∈intK. We show that these conditions are satisfied by reproduction-decimation operators. We also prove that ω(x;T)⊂∂K for a class of operator-valued means.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to prove the strong convergence of a method combining the descent method and the hybrid method in mathematical programming for finding a point in the common fixed point set of a semigroup of nonexpansive mappings in Hilbert space.  相似文献

We consider a Hilbert space, an orthogonal projection onto a closed subspace and a sequence of downwardly directed affine spaces. We give sufficient conditions for the projection of the intersection of the affine spaces into the closed subspace to be equal to the intersection of their projections. Under a closure assumption, one such (necessary and) sufficient condition is that summation and intersection commute between the orthogonal complement of the closed subspace, and the subspaces corresponding to the affine spaces. Another sufficient condition is that the cosines of the angles between the orthogonal complement of the closed subspace, and the subspaces corresponding to the affine spaces, be bounded away from one. Our results are then applied to a general infinite horizon, positive semi-definite, linear quadratic mathematical programming problem. Specifically, under suitable conditions, we show that optimal solutions exist and, modulo those feasible solutions with zero objective value, they are limits of optimal solutions to finite-dimensional truncations of the original problem.  相似文献

Let X be a real Banach space. We prove that the existence of an injective, positive, symmetric and not strictly singular operator from X into its dual implies that either X admits an equivalent Hilbertian norm or it contains a nontrivially complemented subspace which is isomorphic to a Hilbert space. We also treat the nonsymmetric case.  相似文献

We give an example of a pair of Banach spacesE andF so that neitherE′ norF has cotype 2, but every bounded linear operator fromE intoF factors through Hilbert space.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the product of two orthogonal projectionsP andQ on a separable, infinite dimensional Hilbert spaceH. For the operatorQP, there holds the dichotomy:QP is either a Carleman operator or a semi-Fredholm operator with finite defect. Both cases are characterized in terms of the dimensions of the ranges and null spaces ofP andQ and some of their intersections. This extends the case, whereP andQ are the special projections onto the subspaces of time- and band-limited functions inL 2() resp., first considered by Slepian, Pollak and Landau.  相似文献

LetS: I×X→X be a nonexpansive semigroup on a weakly closed (not necessarily convex) subsetX of a real Hilbert spaceE. In this note we present a theorem on the weak convergence of a trajectory {S(t,x)} t∈I together with a very simple and elementary proof, which extends and unifies several recent results due to Baillon, Bruck, Pazy and Reich.  相似文献
