In this article, we characterize several properties of commutative noetherian local rings in terms of the left perpendicular category of the category of finitely generated modules of finite projective dimension. As an application, we prove that a local ring is regular if (and only if) there exists a strong test module for projectivity having finite projective dimension. We also obtain corresponding results with respect to a semidualizing module.  相似文献

All rings are commutative with identity, and all modules are unital. The purpose of this article is to investigate multiplication von Neumann regular modules. For this reason we introduce the concept of nilpotent submodules generalizing nilpotent ideals and then prove that a faithful multiplication module is von Neumann regular if and only if it has no nonzero nilpotent elements and its Krull dimension is zero. We also give a new characterization for the radical of a submodule of a multiplication module and show in particular that the radical of any submodule of a Noetherian multiplication module is a finite intersection of prime submodules.  相似文献

We show that for a class of modules over shod algebras, including the canonical tilting modules, the closures of the corresponding orbits in module varieties are regular in codimension one.

We will determine the structure of the modular standard modules of association schemes of class two. In the process, we will give the theoretical interpretation for the p-rank theory for strongly regular graphs, and understand the p-rank as the dimension of a submodule of the modular standard module. Considering the modular standard module, we can obtain the detailed classification more than the p-rank and the parameters.  相似文献

In this note we show that for a *n-module, in particular, an almost n-tilting module, P over a ring R with A = EndR P such that P A has finite flat dimension, the upper bound of the global dimension of A can be estimated by the global dimension of R and hence generalize the corresponding results in tilting theory and the ones in the theory of *-modules. As an application, we show that for a finitely generated projective module over a VN regular ring R, the global dimension of its endomorphism ring is not more than the global dimension of R.  相似文献

We introduce two kinds of gauge invariants for any finite-dimensional Hopf algebra H. When H is semisimple over C, these invariants are, respectively, the trace of the map induced by the antipode on the endomorphism ring of a self-dual simple module, and the higher Frobenius-Schur indicators of the regular representation. We further study the values of these higher indicators in the context of complex semisimple quasi-Hopf algebras H. We prove that these indicators are non-negative provided the module category over H is modular, and that for a prime p, the p-th indicator is equal to 1 if, and only if, p is a factor of dimH. As an application, we show the existence of a non-trivial self-dual simple H-module with bounded dimension which is determined by the value of the second indicator.  相似文献

Abstract

It is shown that a module M has countable Noetherian dimension if and only if the lengths of ascending chains of submodules of M has a countable upper bound. This shows in particular that every submodule of a module with countable Noetherian dimension is countably generated. It is proved that modules with Noetherian dimension over locally Noetherian rings have countable Noetherian dimension. We also observe that ωω is a universal upper bound for the lengths of all chains in Artinian modules over commutative rings.  相似文献

Let A be a noetherian connected graded algebra of global dimension 3. We show that A is regular in the sense of Artin and Schelter if one of the following conditions holds: (1) A is generated by two elements; (2) the graded simple module has a standard resolution; (3) the degrees of minimal relations are the same (this includes the quadratic case). Some general properties of A are studied without assuming regularity.  相似文献

When the base connected cochain DG algebra is cohomologically bounded, it is proved that the difference between the amplitude of a compact DG module and that of the DG algebra is just the projective dimension of that module. This yields the unboundedness of the cohomology of non-trivial regular DG algebras. When A is a regular DG algebra such that H(A) is a Koszul graded algebra, H(A) is proved to have the finite global dimension. And we give an example to illustrate that the global dimension of H(A) may be infinite, if the condition that H(A) is Koszul is weakened to the condition that A is a Koszul DG algebra. For a general regular DG algebra A, we give some equivalent conditions for the Gorensteiness. For a finite connected DG algebra A, we prove that Dc(A) and Dc(A op) admit Auslander-Reiten triangles if and only if A and A op are Gorenstein DG algebras. When A is a non-trivial regular DG algebra such that H(A) is locally finite, Dc(A) does not admit Auslander-Reiten triangles. We turn to study the existence of Auslander-Reiten triangles in Dlfb(A) and Dlfb (A op) instead, when A is a regular DG algebra. In Lie theory, a dense orbit in the nilpotent radical of a parabolic group under the operation of the parabolic is called a Richardson orbit. We define a quiver-graded version of Richardson orbits generalizing the classical definition in the case of the general linear group. We define a quasi-hereditary algebra called the nilpotent quiver algebra whose isomorphism classes of Δ-filtered modules correspond to orbits in our generalized setting. We translate the existence of a Richardson orbit into the existence of a rigid Δ-filtered module of a given dimension vector. We study an idempotent recollement of this algebra whose associated intermediate extension functor can be used to produce Richardson orbits in some situations. This can be explicitly calculated in examples. We also give examples where no Richardson orbit exists.  相似文献

Following our previous work about quasi-projective dimension [11], in this paper, we introduce quasi-injective dimension as a generalization of injective dimension. We recover several well-known results about injective and Gorenstein-injective dimensions in the context of quasi-injective dimension such as the following. (a) If the quasi-injective dimension of a finitely generated module M over a local ring R is finite, then it is equal to the depth of R. (b) If there exists a finitely generated module of finite quasi-injective dimension and maximal Krull dimension, then R is Cohen-Macaulay. (c) If there exists a nonzero finitely generated module with finite projective dimension and finite quasi-injective dimension, then R is Gorenstein. (d) Over a Gorenstein local ring, the quasi-injective dimension of a finitely generated module is finite if and only if its quasi-projective dimension is finite.  相似文献

It is well known that the minimal dimension of a nontrivial complex representation of the Monster is realized by Griess's module of dimension 196883. We show that the corresponding p-modular reduction also realizes the minimal dimension for character¬istics p≠2,3; but in those exceptional characteristics, involves a composition factor of the minimal dimension 196882.  相似文献

We study derivations and Fredholm modules on metric spaces with a local regular conservative Dirichlet form. In particular, on finitely ramified fractals, we show that there is a non-trivial Fredholm module if and only if the fractal is not a tree (i.e. not simply connected). This result relates Fredholm modules and topology, refines and improves known results on p.c.f. fractals. We also discuss weakly summable Fredholm modules and the Dixmier trace in the cases of some finitely and infinitely ramified fractals (including non-self-similar fractals) if the so-called spectral dimension is less than 2. In the finitely ramified self-similar case we relate the p-summability question with estimates of the Lyapunov exponents for harmonic functions and the behavior of the pressure function.  相似文献

We prove that the finitistic dimension of a properly stratified algebra having a simple preserving duality and for which every tilting module is cotilting, equals twice the projective dimension of the characteristic tilting module. As a corollary, we get that the global dimension of a quasi-hereditary algebra with duality equals twice the projective dimension of the characteristic tilting module. As another corollary, we obtain an affirmative answer to the conjecture of Erdmann and Parker. Finally, we calculate the finitistic dimension of the blocks of certain parabolic generalizations of the category .  相似文献

Let A be a tame concealed or tubular algebra and d the dimension-vector of a periodic module with respect to the action of the Auslander–Reiten translation. We prove that the affine variety mod A (d) of all A-modules of dimension-vector d is a normal complete intersection. Moreover, we show that a module M in mod A (d) is nonsingular if and only if Ext A 2(M,M)=0.  相似文献

We show that Dirac cohomology of the Jacquet module of a Harish-Chandra module is a Harish-Chandra module for the corresponding Levi subgroup. We obtain an explicit formula of Dirac cohomology of the Jacquet module for most of the principal series, based on our determination of Dirac cohomology of irreducible generalized Verma modules with regular infinitesimal characters.  相似文献

We introduce and study the concept of small Krull dimension of a module which is Krull-like dimension extension of the concept of DCC on small submodules. Using this concept we extend some of the basic results for modules with this dimension, which are almost similar to the basic properties of modules with Krull dimension. When for a module A with small Krull dimension, whose Rad(A) is quotient finite dimensional, then these two dimensions for Rad(A) coincide. In particular, we prove that if an R-module A has finite hollow dimension, then A has small Krull dimension if and only if it has Krull dimension. Consequently, we show that if A has properties AB5* and qfd, then A has s.Krull dimension if and only if A has Krull dimension.  相似文献
