A stochastic cooling system is under design and construction at HIRFL-CSRe(Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou- experimental Cooling Storage Ring), with the aim of cooling secondary particles produced at HIRFL-RIBLL2(2nd Radioactive Ion Beam Line in Lanzhou).The optical layout of CSRe has been optimized to meet the requirements of a stochastic cooling system.In this paper, a particle tracking method is used to investigate both transverse and longitudinal cooling on the basis of the modified optical layout, demonstrating how it can be used to optimize stochastic cooling parameters.Simulation results indicate that the particle tracking method is an innovative and reasonable method to study stochastic cooling.It also has the advantage of discovering the influence of Twiss parameters at the pickups and kickers, which will be explored in further studies.  相似文献

A linearly polarized optical field can be obtained by filtering a stochastic field through an ideal linear polarizer. The produced field possesses a given degree of paraxiality that, as proved in the present Letter, can be affected by the correlations of the original stochastic field. Solute-solvent collisions for a two-level molecular system interacting with a four-wave mixing signal are analyzed in the present contribution. The system is described using the optical stochastic Bloch equations (OSBE), where Bohr’s frequency is treated a stochastic variable due to the random collisions with the solvent. The resulting equations for the Fourier components associated to the coherence are averaged over all the realizations of the stochastic variable, using an approximant for the Voigt’s function as a probability distribution. In this model we were able to calculate the optical susceptibilities at different frequencies, depicted as numerical surfaces for the behavior of the optical properties.  相似文献

A parametric study is performed in investigating the stochastic electromagnetic beam generated by a uniformly polarized electromagnetic Gaussian Schell-model source and passing through ABCD optical systems. Through theoretical analysis, the requirement is derived that the uniformly polarized electromagnetic field can be obtained at the output plane of the imaging optical system. Furthermore, the general imaging formula of the stochastic electromagnetic beam is derived. Numerical examples are also presented to illustrate the application.  相似文献

The fibrils that yielded the Shroud body image show a stochastic distribution on the Linen of Turin. In fact, the probability of a fibril yellowing is a function of the energy, while this is not the case for the optical density value. This means that the above image is a latent image. We suggest thermal radiation or low-temperature chemical processes as possible natural energy sources to explain, by stochastic effects, the Shroud body image formation. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the phenomenon, we are not able to extract the energy source.  相似文献

We propose a method of frequency and phase control of optical bistability in a unidirectional ring cavity containing a semiconductor structure which is characterized as a ladder three-level system. The system interacts with a coherent probe field, and a control field which consists of a strong coherent field and a weak amplitude-fluctuating stochastic field. A perturbative solution of the master equation of the system allows to eliminate the stochastic field and provides a physical picture in terms of correlation properties of the stochastic field. We find that the bistable response can be modified strongly by means of the amplitude, the frequency and the phase of the stochastic field. In order to illustrate the feasibility of the results, we use parameter values corresponding to an semiconductor quantum dot (QD). This investigation may be used to optimize and control the optical switching process in the QD solid-state system, which is much more practical than that in atomic systems.  相似文献

By using the generalized Huygens–Fresnel diffraction integral, the analytical expressions for the cross-spectral density matrix, spectral degree of polarization, orientation angle and degree of ellipticity of polarization ellipse of apertured stochastic electromagnetic modified Bessel–Gauss beams (MBGBs) through a paraxial optical ABCD system are derived, and used to study the changes in the state of polarization of apertured stochastic electromagnetic MBGBs propagating in free space. The invariance of the on-axis state of polarization of unapertured stochastic electromagnetic MBGBs propagating through paraxial optical ABCD systems is illustrated analytically and numerically. For apertured stochastic electromagnetic MBGBs, the on-axis spectral degree of polarization, orientation angle and degree of ellipticity of polarization ellipse increase with increasing propagation distance, and approach asymptotic values when the propagation distance is large enough. There is a uniform distribution region of the state of polarization around the center of the beams whose range decreases with increasing truncation parameter. In addition, the state of polarization of apertured stochastic electromagnetic MBGBs upon propagation can be modulated by controlling the truncation parameter.  相似文献

Using the four-wave mixing spectroscopy, we analyze the nonlinear optical properties in a strongly driven two-level system, using a perturbative treatment where, the pump field is considered at all orders, second order in the probe, and first order for the signal field, when the stochastic effects of the solvent are considered. Significant variations in the nonlinear optical properties due mainly to changes in the probe intensity, chemical concentrations, and transversal relaxation times are observed.  相似文献

The statistical distributions of optical vortices or topological charge in stochastic optical fields can be inhomogeneous in both transverse directions. Such two-dimensional inhomogeneous vortex or topological charge distributions evolve in a complex way during free-space propagation. While the evolution of one-dimensional topological charge densities can be described by a linear diffusion process, the evolution of two-dimensional topological charge densities exhibits some additional nonlinear dynamics. Here we propose a phase drift mechanism as a partial explanation for this additional nonlinear dynamics. Numerical results are presented in support of this proposal.  相似文献

The theory of an optical double resonance experiment in fluctuating laser fields is formulated using the theory of multiplicative stochastic processes. The asymmetry of the Autler Townes doublet is studied for a variety of the values of the laser bandwidths, Rabi frequencies associated with the two transitions. It is shown that the probe field strength and the bandwidth of the exciting laser jointly determine critically the doublet's asymmetry and its reversal.  相似文献

We have previously demonstrated a novel technique for autonomously forming a nanophotonic droplet, which is micro-scale spherical polymer structure that contains paired heterogeneous nanometric components. The sort-selectivity and alignment accuracy of the nanometric components in each nanophotonic droplet, and the related homogeneity of the optical function, are due to a characteristic pairing process based on a phonon-assisted photo-curing method. The proposed method requires irradiating a mixture of components with light to induce optical near-field interactions between each component, and subsequent processes based on these interactions. The pairing yield of components via the interactions is considered to mainly depend on the frequency of their encounters and the size-resonance effect between encountered components. In this paper, we model these two factors by individual stochastic procedures and construct a numerical model to describe the pairing process. Agreement between the results of numerical and experimental demonstrations shows the validity of our stochastic modeling.  相似文献

The dependence of stochastic processes in fiber optical information systems on radiation polarization modes, anisotropy parameters, and optical fiber nonlinearity is investigated. The polarization-statistical properties determined for signals in optical-fiber information systems make it possible to simulate new method for controlling quantum amplitudes and phase fluctuations of photons, which must increase the information efficiency of optical communication channels.  相似文献

应用变分法研究了一个单模非线性光学系统的弛豫速率对噪声强度的依赖性,并由线性响应理论考察了该系统的随机共振行为.研究结果表明当系统没有偏置时,单稳与多稳情形下的松弛速率对噪声强度的依赖性表现出很大的不同.揭示了对称的一维单稳系统中的随机共振现象,并针对一维单稳系统中随机共振存在的一般条件进行了分析. 关键词: 弛豫速率 随机共振 变分法 线性响应理论  相似文献

A generalized diffraction integral formula for stochastic electromagnetic beams propagating through an optical system in turbulent atmosphere is derived with the help of tensor method. Some analyses are illustrated by a numerical example relating to changes in the average intensity and the degree of polarization of an electromagnetic Gaussian Schell-model beam propagating through a double-lenses system. It is shown that the optical system has strong influence on the propagation properties of the beam. The method used in this paper can be widely applied to the propagation of astigmatic beams through an optical system in turbulent atmosphere.  相似文献

A technique based on optical operations on moiré patterns for image encryption and decryption is developed. In this method, an image is encrypted by a stochastic geometric moiré pattern deformed according to the image reflectance map. The decryption is performed using pixel correlation algorithm in the encrypted image and the stochastic geometrical moiré pattern. The proposed technique has a number of advantages over existing encryption techniques based on moiré gratings. No original moiré grating can be reconstructed only from the encrypted image. Stochastic moiré grating can be deformed in any direction what is an important factor of encryption security. Finally, the quality of the decrypted image is much better compared to decryption methods based on the superposition of the regular and deformed moiré gratings. The proposed technique has a great potential, because the process is performed using computational algorithms based on optical operations and optical components are avoided.  相似文献

Initial phase of field-induced molecular reorientation in threshold geometry of a liquid-crystalline structure is essentially influenced by thermal orientational fluctuations. Still not quite clear is the way in which the reorientation starts and how it runs over an LC-structure in its initial phase. Fluctuations are stochastic events in time and also in space. This feature suggests, that the reorientation process may be induced by director fluctuations locally in a particular part of the LC-structure. In this work we have studied the impact of fluctuations on the molecular reorientation in nematics involving optical nonlinear interaction. The restricted area of a nematic layer was excited by light beam that amplified director fluctuations locally. By manipulation of optical excitation we were able to affect the dynamics of the effect. Since the threshold-type configuration of nematics is used in a number of optical devices, the obtained results may have practical aspect contributing to a new way of controlling the field-induced transition.  相似文献
