Indexed squares

We study some combinatorial principles intermediate between square and weak square. We construct models which distinguish various square principles, and show that a strengthened form of weak square holds in the Prikry model. Jensen proved that a large cardinal property slightly stronger than 1-extendibility is incompatible with square; we prove this is close to optimal by showing that 1-extendibility is compatible with square. The subgaussian constant and concentration inequalities

We study concentration inequalities for Lipschitz functions on graphs by estimating the optimal constant in exponential moments of subgaussian type. This is illustrated on various graphs and related to various graph constants. We also settle, in the affirmative, a question of Talagrand on a deviation inequality for the discrete cube. Perturbation of Transition Functions and a Feynman-Kac Formula for the Incorporation of Mortality

Markov transition kernels are perturbed by output kernels with a special emphasis on building mortality into structured population models. A Morera type theorem forL 2 functions in the Heisenberg group

A partition relation for successors of Large Cardinals

We address partition problems of Erd?s and Hajnal by showing that for all , if and carries a -dense ideal. If is measurable we show that for where is a very large ordinal less than that is closed under all primitive recursive ordinal operations. On sided branching in Anosov foliations

We study topologically transitive Anosov flows in 3-manifolds. We show that if one of the stable or unstable foliations in the universal cover does not have Hausdorff leaf space (branching occurs) then both have branching in the positive and negative directions. On the eigenvalues of matrices with given upper triangular part

On representation varieties of Artin groups, projective arrangements and the fundamental groups of smooth complex algebraic varieties

We prove that for any affine variety S defined overQ there exist Shephard and Artin groups G such that a Zariski open subset U of S is biregular isomorphic to a Zariski open subset of the character variety X(G, PO(3)) = Hom(G, PO(3))//PO(3). The subset U contains all real points of S. As an application we construct new examples of finitely-presented groups which are not fundamental groups of smooth complex algebraic varieties.
