The equivalence of 2+1 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model and the SU(2) Kogut Susskind lattice gauge theory is recapitulated and the naive Euclidean lattice action of the threedimensional an tiferromagnetic Heisen berg model is derived. The three-dimensional lattice gauge fermion theory is formulated to give the consistent lattice gauge theory of antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model. In continu um limit the two copies of two flavor fermions are resulted, which give the negative results of the microscopic derivation of the Chern-Simons terms. The Chern-Simons terms, the gauge invariant problem of effective action and the '%hiralityn are discussed.  相似文献

The truncated eigenvalue equation of SU(N) lattice gauge theory is studied by using improved lattice gauge Hamiltonian with a proper truncation scheme that preserves the continuum limit. The calculations of vacuum state wavefunction and glueball mass of (2+1)-dimensional SU(2) theory up to third order are carried out, the results show the improvement of scaling behavior in deep weak coupling region.  相似文献

We use lattice gauge theory simulation to evaluate the spectrum in pure gauge theory with an SU(2) colour group. Glueball states in all representations of the cubic group Oh are investigated. We compare our results for small spatial volumes with the analytic hamiltonian results of Koller and van Baal and with our large lattice results.  相似文献

Discretisation errors in two-flavour lattice QCD with Wilson quarks and DBW2 gauge action are investigated by comparing numerical simulation data at two values of the bare gauge coupling. Both non-zero- and zero-twisted-mass values are considered. The results, including also data from simulations using the Wilson plaquette gauge action, are compared to next-to-leading order chiral perturbation theory formulas.  相似文献

The linked cluster series expansion proposed by Nickel is extended to the ground state and axial string tension of lattice gauge theory. Proofs of these expansions and applications to Z2 and U(1) gauge theory in 2 + 1 dimensions are presented. We also propose a new finite cluster scaling method based on the linked-cluster expansion and test it against known results for Z2 gauge theory. The utility of the method in studying more complicated lattice gauge theories is emphasized.  相似文献

We discuss SU(2) lattice gauge theories at non-zero temperature and prove several rigorous results including i) the absence of confinement for sufficiently high temperature in the pure gauge theory, and ii) the absence of spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking for sufficiently high temperature in the theory with massless fundamental representation fermions.  相似文献

Approximate calculations are performed for small Wilson loops of SU(2) lattice gauge theory in the mean field approximation. Reasonable agreement is found with Monte Carlo data. Ways of improving these calculations are discussed.  相似文献

The two dimensional Yang-Mills theory (YM2) is analyzed in both the continuum and the lattice. In the complete axial gauge the continuum theory may be defined in terms of a Lie algebra valued white noise, and parallel translation may be defined by stochastic differential equations. This machinery is used to compute the expectations of gauge invariant functions of the parallel translation operators along a collection of curvesC. The expectation values are expressed as finite dimensional integrals with densities that are products of the heat kernel on the structure group. The time parameters of the heat kernels are determined by the areas enclosed by the collectionC, and the arguments are determined by the crossing topologies of the curves inC. The expectations for the Wilson lattice models have a similar structure, and from this it follows that in the limit of small lattice spacing the lattice expectations converge to the continuum expectations. It is also shown that the lasso variables advocated by L. Gross [36] exist and are sufficient to generate all the measurable functions on the YM2-measure space.  相似文献

As a first step towards a duality transformation for theSU(2) lattice gauge theory in 3 dimensions, the integration over all gauge variant variables is performed explicitly after introducing gauge invariant auxiliary variables. The resulting new Hamiltonian is complex and involves a sum over closed loops. Each of these loops is confined to an elementary cube of a dual lattice. Like in a previous investigation for theO(4) symmetric Heisenberg ferromagnet Rühl's boson representation is used to derive the result.  相似文献

Monte Carlo simulations for pureU (2) gauge theory on a four-dimensional simplicial lattice with six sites in each direction are reported. Wilson loops and the string tensions for squares and triangles are presented. Deconfinement of higher representation sources in SU(2) lattice gauge theory is studied by a Monte Carlo simulation on an 83×2 lattice. Results for the free energy are compared with expectations from the effective theory of thermal Polyakov loops, and critical exponents for the magnetization of different representations in SU(2) are computed. We also compare the predictions for higher representations in SU(3) lattice gauge theory with some recent Monte Carlo data. Finally, possible phenomenological consequences of the deconfinement associated with higher representation sources are discussed.  相似文献

Recent developments in lattice gauge theory are discussed from a statistical mechanics viewpoint. The basic physics problems of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) are reviewed for an audience of critical phenomena theorists. The idea of local gauge symmetry and color, the connection between statistical mechanics and field theory, asymptotic freedom and the continuum limit of lattice gauge theories, and the order parameters (confinement and chiral symmetry) of QCD are reviewed. Then recent developments in the field are discussed. These include the proof of confinement in the lattice theory, numerical evidence for confinement in the continuum limit of lattice gauge theory, and perturbative improvement programs for lattice actions. Next, we turn to the new challenges facing the subject. These include the need for a better understanding of the lattice Dirac equation and recent progress in the development of numerical methods for fermions (the pseudofermion stochastic algorithm and the microcanonical, molecular dynamics equation of motion approach). Finally, some of the applications of lattice gauge theory to QCD spectrum calculations and the thermodynamics of. The method developed by D.J.E.Callaway is applied to Ising model on a two-dimensional triangular lattice. A fixed point and critical exponent are found. The results are consistent with one of the exact theories very well. Obviously this method show superiority to that obtained by some other approximate methods. The method is also applied to Z2 gauge theory on a 2-dimensional triangular lattice, no fixed points are found, in agreement with other methods.  相似文献

Including dynamical fermions in the Monte Carlo simulation of the SU(2) gauge theory, the potential between static quarks is investigated on a 16×83 lattice. The Coulomb part of the force is stronger as compared with the pure gauge field theory. At large distances indications are found for a deviation from the linear rise of the potential, expected from a break-up of the flux tube between the heavy quarks through spontaneous creation of light quark pairs.  相似文献

We extend the SU(2) lattice gauge theory of Kogut and Susskind to a general non-Abelian gauge group. At the Lagrangian level, we find the theory to be related to the motion of a point in group space. We then quantise such a system using the natural geometric structure of group parameter space, and we apply our results to find the Hamiltonian for the general lattice gauge theory. We also discuss the large N behaviour of the theory.  相似文献
