The possibility of setting constraints on the couplings of the scalar or pseudoscalar Higgs boson to b quarks on the basis of data on the process $e^ + e^ - \to b\bar bv\bar v$ at the LEP II collider is investigated. The mixing of the scalar and the hypothetical pseudoscalar Higgs boson in the $Hb\bar b$ vertex is parametrized in the form $\frac{{m_b }}{v}(a + i\gamma _5 b)$ . An analysis of the differential distributions for the process $e^ + e^ - \to b\bar bv\bar v$ reveals that the contribution of the fusion subprocess WWH in the channel involving an electron neutrino enhances the sensitivity of data to the parameters under analysis. It is shown that the LEP II data at $\sqrt s = 200$ GeV and $\smallint \mathcal{L}dt = 600 pb^{ - 1} $ per experiment would make it possible to constrain the parameters Δa = a ? 1 and b as follows: ?0.75 ≤ Δa ≤ 1.4 at b = 0 and free Δa and ?0.97 ≤ b ≤ 0.97 at Δa = 0 and free b.  相似文献

The sensitivity of data on the process $e^ + e^ - \to e^ + e^ - b\bar b$ at a future linear electron-positron collider to the deviation of the coupling of the Higgs boson to b quarks from the Standard Model predictions owing to the presence of a pseudoscalar Higgs boson state is analyzed for a collision energy of $\sqrt s = 500 Gev$ . The admixture of a new hypothetical pseudoscalar Higgs boson state in the $Hb\bar b$ vertex is parametrized in the form m b /v(a + 5 b). On the basis of an analysis of data on the process $e^ + e^ - \to e^ + e^ - b\bar b$ , it is shown that experiments at the future linear collider TESLA will make it possible to constrain the parameters Δa = a ? 1 and b as ?0.056 ≤ Δa ≤ 0.055 and ?0.32 ≤ b ≤ 0.32, respectively.  相似文献

A complete tree-level Standard Model calculation of the reaction $e^ + e^ - \to b\bar b + 2$ jets in the energy range of LEPII and the Nexte +e? Linear Collider is presented. The 2-jet system represents either aq $\bar q$ pair or two gluons. The matrix elements were calculated by means of the package CompHEP, and phase space integration and event generation were carried out with the computer programs BASES/SPRING. Cross sections of the Higgs boson, the total background and important subsets of background are studied as functions of the c.m.s. energy and the Higgs mass, taking into account possible interferences. Various event distributions calculated for realistic integrated luminosities indicate encouraging prospects regarding the extraction of the Higgs signal.  相似文献

The limits on the anomalous magnetic and electric dipole moments of the ?? ?? through the reaction $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow \nu \bar \nu \gamma$ at the Z 1-pole, and in the framework of a 331 model are obtained. The results are based on the data reported by the L3 Collaboration at LEP. We find that the bounds are almost independent of the mixing angle ? of the model in the allowed range for this parameter.  相似文献

In the reaction \(e^ + e^ - \to v\bar v\gamma \) , the influence of the unknown masses of heavy fermions for three and four fermion generations is studied, which arises via virtual 1-loop corrections in the framework of the standard model. These masses are the top quark massm t and in the case of 4 generations the lepton massm t, wherel ? is theSU(2) partner of the fourth generation neutrino. Increasing the fermion masses from 50 GeV to 250 GeV, the maximum of the total cross section is found to decrease by a few percent.  相似文献

We estimate $BR(K \to \pi \nu \bar \nu )$ in the context of the Standard Model by fitting for λ tV tdV ts * of the “kaon unitarity triangle” relation. To find the vertex of this triangle, we fit data from |? K|, the CP-violating parameter describing K mixing, and a ψ,K , the CP-violating asymmetry in B d 0 J/ψK 0 decays, and obtain the values $\left. {BR(K \to \pi \nu \bar \nu )} \right|_{SM} = (7.07 \pm 1.03) \times 10^{ - 11} $ and $\left. {BR(K_L^0 \to \pi ^0 \nu \bar \nu )} \right|_{SM} = (2.60 \pm 0.52) \times 10^{ - 11} $ . Our estimate is independent of the CKM matrix element V cb and of the ratio of B-mixing frequencies ${{\Delta m_{B_s } } \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{\Delta m_{B_s } } {\Delta m_{B_d } }}} \right. \kern-0em} {\Delta m_{B_d } }}$ . We also use the constraint estimation of λ t with additional data from $\Delta m_{B_d } $ and |V ub|. This combined analysis slightly increases the precision of the rate estimation of $K^ + \to \pi ^ + \nu \bar \nu $ and $K_L^0 \to \pi ^0 \nu \bar \nu $ (by ?10 and ?20%, respectively). The measured value of $BR(K^ + \to \pi ^ + \nu \bar \nu )$ can be compared both to this estimate and to predictions made from ${{\Delta m_{B_s } } \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{\Delta m_{B_s } } {\Delta m_{B_d } }}} \right. \kern-0em} {\Delta m_{B_d } }}$ .  相似文献

We calculate, the partial width for the tree level decay of theZ boson into four massive fermions atO2) and \(O(\alpha _s^2 )\) . Analytic expressions for the helicity amplitudes are presented. We also present ‘observable’ widths for the case when the fermions are energetic and well separated, and make a comparison between the massive and massless matrix elements in this region. We make a direct comparison between the four fermion decay and the production and decay of the Higgs boson via the Bjorken mechanism, \(Z \to H\mu ^ + \mu ^ - \to q\bar q\mu ^ + \mu ^ - \) . Provided the detector resolution is good, \(\Delta m_{q\bar q} \) ~ few GeV, the Higgs signal stands clearly above the four fermion background for all Higgs boson masses considered.  相似文献

Analytical expressions are presented for contributions of order $O(\overline \alpha \overline \alpha _s )$ and $O(\overline \alpha ^2 )$ to the $\bar bb$ -decay width of the neutral Higgs boson of the standard model of electroweak interactions. The numerical value of the mixed QED and QCD correction of order $O(\overline \alpha \overline \alpha _s )$ is comparable to other computed terms in the perturbation series.  相似文献

A composite model of fermions is proposed to explain the “anomaly” in $Z \to b\bar b$ and, to a lesser extent, in $Z \to c\bar c$ It contains a nonsequential fourth family whose mass of one member (the charge ? 1/3 quark) is constrained to be between 47 GeV and 49 GeV. The charge + 2/3 quark is constrained to lie between 67 GeV and 107 GeV. This opens up the exciting prospect for nearfuture discoveries at LEP2 and possibly at the Tevatron.  相似文献

The discovery potential for charged Higgs bosons has been studied with full-statistics background simulations for $\sqrt s$ =500 GeV and ?=10fb?1. For the hadronic decay channels $H^ + H^ - \to \operatorname{c} \bar s\bar cs$ , a microvertex detector is crucial for establishing a signal over the $e^ + e^ - \to t\bar t$ background. A combination with a search in the channels $H^ + H^ - \to c\bar s\tau ^ - \nu ,\tau ^ + \nu \tau ^ - \bar \nu$ allows detection sensitivity for charged Higgs bosons up to a mass of about 210GeV, independent of the charged Higgs decay modes. Sensitivity regions in them A-tanβ parameter space of the Minimal Supersymmetric extention of the Standard Model (MSSM) are given.  相似文献

We discuss the radiation of hard photons in the $t\bar t$ production anddecay as a background for the intermediate Higgs search at LHC/SSC experiments. For the purpose of experimental simulation of this process we propose to use the approximate Monte Carlo algorithm together with any physics Monte Carlo not including QED corrections. We verify, by comparison with the exact matrix element Monte Carlo TOPKI, that this method can be used to generate single- and double-photon bremsstrahlung in the $t\bar t$ production process with a precision of 10% for experimental cuts. The predictions for the ψψl background from photons radiated in theproduction of $t\bar t$ pair and their cascadedecays, within simplified experimental cuts, are presented for the first time. We show that, even after additional cuts on the minimal lepton-photon mass, photons radiated in the productionand decay of a $t\bar t$ pair increase this background by a factor of 2 with respect to previous estimates from radiation in the $t\bar t$ production alone.  相似文献

CP violation effects in $e^ + e^ - \to t\bar tg$ are examined. CP-odd,T N -odd andT N -even observables can both be used to extract information on the real and imaginary parts of Feynman amplitudes. The two Higgs doublet model with CP violating phase from neutral Higgs exchange is used to illustrate possible effects. In this particular model the expected luminosity of the future colliders seems to fall short by about one order of magnitude to detect such asymmetries.  相似文献

One of the main goals of the ATLAS experiment is to measure various Higgs boson couplings as accurately as possible. Such a measurement is mandatory for a full understanding of the Higgs sector. One of the most challenging measurements of the Higgs boson properties is the determination of the Yukawa coupling to the top quark. To complement the $t\bar {t}H\rightarrow t\bar {t}\ensuremath {\mathit {b}\bar {\mathit {b}}}$ channel, which is the most significant in the low Higgs mass region (m H ~120 GeV), we introduce a feasibility study of the $t\bar {t}H$ channel with the Higgs decaying to a pair of τ leptons. The signal events were reconstructed using the full and the fast simulation of the ATLAS detector. It is shown that both the distributions and the number of expected events after the same cuts agree, and that we can use the fast simulation to complete the analysis. We obtain a significance of 1.6σ for the low luminosity condition (30 fb?1) and m H =120 GeV, and 2.0σ for the high luminosity condition (300 fb?1) and m H =120 GeV. The observability of Higgs boson in this channel is demonstrated to be very marginal, even in the absence of taking into account $t\bar {t}+\mathrm{jets}$ .  相似文献

Results of study of the $K^ - \to \pi ^0 e^ - \overline \nu \gamma $ decay at the ISTRA+ setup are presented. We observed 4476 events of this decay. The branching ratio is found to be $R = \frac{{Br(K^ - \to \pi ^0 e^ - \overline \nu _e \gamma )}}{{Br(K^ - \to \pi ^0 e^ - \overline \nu _e )}}$ = (1.81±0.03(stat.)±0.07(syst.)) × 10?2 for E*γ > 10 MeV and θ* > 10°. For comparison with the previous experiment the branching ratio with cuts E*γ > 10 MeV, 0.6 < cos θ* < 0.9 is calculated: R = $\frac{{Br(K^ - \to \pi ^0 e^ - \overline \nu _e \gamma )}}{{Br(K^ - \to \pi ^0 e^ - \overline \nu _e )}}$ = (0.47±0.02(stat.) ± 0.03(syst.)) × 10?2. For the cuts E*γ > 30 MeV and θ* > 20°, used in most theoretical papers, Br = (3.06 ± 0.09(stat.) ± 0.14(syst.)) × 10?4. For the asymmetry we get A ξ = ?0.015 ± 0.021. At present it is the best estimate of this asymmetry.  相似文献

We study the $\overline{\nu}_{e}-e$ scattering from low to ultrahigh energy in the framework of Higgs Triplet Model (HTM). We add the contribution of charged Higgs boson exchange to the total cross section of the scattering. We obtain the upper bound $h_{ee}/M_{H^{\pm}}\lesssim2.8\times10^{-3}~\mbox{GeV}^{-1}$ in this process from low energy experiment. We show that by using the upper bound obtained, the charged Higgs contribution can give enhancements to the total cross section with respect to the SM prediction up to 5.16 % at E≤1014 eV and maximum at $s\approx M_{H^{\pm}}^{2}$ and would help to determine the feasibility experiments to discriminate between SM and HTM at current available facilities.  相似文献

The principle of maximum conformality (PMC) has been suggested to eliminate the renormalization scheme and renormalization scale uncertainties, which are unavoidable for the conventional scale setting and are usually important errors for theoretical estimations. In this paper, by applying PMC scale setting, we analyze two important inclusive Standard Model Higgs decay channels, $H\rightarrow b\bar{b}$ and $H\rightarrow gg$ , up to four-loop and three-loop levels, respectively. After PMC scale setting, it is found that the conventional scale uncertainty for these two channels can be eliminated to a high degree. There is small residual initial scale dependence for the Higgs decay widths due to unknown higher-order $\{\beta _i\}$ terms. Up to four-loop level, we obtain $\Gamma (H\rightarrow b\bar{b}) = 2.389\pm 0.073 \pm 0.041$ MeV and up to three-loop level, we obtain $\Gamma (H\rightarrow gg) = 0.373\pm 0.030$ MeV, where the first error is caused by varying $M_H=126\pm 4$ GeV and the second error for $H\rightarrow b\bar{b}$ is caused by varying the $\overline{\mathrm{MS}}$ -running mass $m_b(m_b)=4.18\pm 0.03$ GeV. Taking $H\rightarrow b\bar{b}$ as an example, we present a comparison of three BLM-based scale-setting approaches, e.g. the PMC-I approach based on the PMC–BLM correspondence, the $R_\delta $ -scheme and the seBLM approach, all of which are designed to provide effective ways to identify non-conformal $\{\beta _i\}$ -series at each perturbative order. At four-loop level, all those approaches lead to good pQCD convergence, they have almost the same pQCD series, and their predictions are almost independent on the initial renormalization scale. In this sense, those approaches are equivalent to each other.  相似文献

The results of studying the $\Lambda \bar \Lambda $ system produced in the reaction π? p $\Lambda \bar \Lambda $ n at a π?-meson energy of 40 GeV are reported. Experimental data (~2300 events) were obtained on the ITEP 6-meter spectrometer with a beam of the IHEP U-70 accelerator. The invariant-mass spectra for the events dominated by the singlet or triplet $\Lambda \bar \Lambda $ states were found to differ considerably from each other. The data give evidence for the existence of resonance $\Lambda \bar \Lambda $ states of the system in the mass regions near 2.3, 2.5, and 2.8 GeV.  相似文献

Charged hadron multiplicity distributions in \(\bar v_\mu n\) and \(\bar v_\mu p\) interactions in the energy range \(5< E_{\bar v}< 150GeV\) GeV are presented. They are obtained from about \(6000\bar v_\mu \) charged current events produced in BEBC filled with deuterium. Multiplicity moments are studied as a function of the invariant mass of the hadronic systemW. Results on multiplicity distributions in the forward and backward directions in the hadronic c.m.s. are presented and discussed within the framework of the quark parton model. Values for the average charge of the forward jet are also determined and compared with other experimental data.  相似文献

Based on the conserved-vector-current (CVC) hypothesis and a four-ρ-resonance unitary and analytic VMD model of the pion electromagnetic form factor, theσ tot(E v lab ) and dσdE π lab of the weak \(\bar v_e e^ - \to \pi ^ - \pi ^0\) process are predicted theoretically for the first time. Their experimental approval could verify the CVC hypothesis for all energies above the two-pion threshold. Since, unlike the electromagnetic e+e?→π+π? process, there is no isoscalar vector-meson contribution to the weak \(\bar v_e e^ - \to \pi ^ - \pi ^0\) reaction, accurate measurements of theσ tot(E v lab ) that moreover is strengthened with energyE v lab linearly could solve now a widely discussed problem of the mass specification of the first excited state of theρ(770) meson. As a by-product, an equality \(\sigma _{tot} (\bar v_e e^ - \to \pi ^ - \pi ^0 ) = \sigma _{tot} (e^ + e^ - \to \pi ^ - \pi ^0 )\) is predicted for \(\sqrt s \approx 70 GeV\) .  相似文献
