Perfect screening of all charges characterizes a conductor, a fact embodied in the Stillinger-Lovett sum rule: namely, the charge-charge correlation or structure factor, S(ZZ)(k), varies with momentum transfer k→0 as ξ(D)(2)k(2) where the Debye length ξ(D) is a universal function, √k(B)T/ρq(D)(2), of T and the ion density ρ, with a scaled charge q(D). For a charge-symmetric hard-sphere electrolyte our grand canonical simulations, with a new finite-size scaling device, confirm the Stillinger-Lovett rule except, contrary to current theory, for its failure at criticality. Furthermore, the k(4) term in the S(ZZ)(k) expansion is found to diverge like the compressibility when T→T(c) at ρ(c).  相似文献

A compound sawtooth with an incomplete relaxation was observed in EAST’s lower hybrid current drive(LHCD)plasma. The sub-crash phase of the compound sawtooth corresponds to a longer-lasting and slower-growing 1/1 mode.Based on the two-dimensional(2D) SXR tomography, the time-dependent 2D image of a compound sawtooth crash is obtained. The island produced during a resistive internal kink mode is observed in the all crash phases of the compound sawtooth. The destabilization of 1/1 long-lasting saturated 1/1 mode is related to the current driven by the LHCD near the q = 1 surface.  相似文献

Survival of high-energy cosmic rays (HECRs) against gravitational Cherenkov losses is shown not to cast strong constraints on modified Newtonian dynamics (MOND) theories that are compatible with general relativity (GR): theories that coincide with GR for accelerations ?a(0) (a(0) is the MOND constant). The energy-loss rate, E, is many orders smaller than those derived in the literature for theories with no extra scale. Modification to GR, which underlies E, enters only beyond the MOND radius of the particle: r(M)=(Gp/ca(0))(1/2). The spectral cutoff, entering E quadratically, is thus r(M)(-1), not k(dB)=p/?. Thus, E is smaller than published rates, which use k(dB), by a factor ~(r(M)k(dB))(2)≈10(39)(cp/3×10(11) Gev)(3). Losses are important only beyond D(loss)≈q?(M), where q is a dimensionless factor, and ?(M)=c(2)/a(0) is the MOND length, which is ≈2π times the Hubble distance.  相似文献

Statistics of the inverse participation ratio (IPR) at the critical point of the localization transition is studied numerically for the power-law random banded matrix model. It is shown that the IPR distribution function is scale invariant, with a power-law asymptotic "tail." This scale invariance implies that the fractal dimensions D(q) are nonfluctuating quantities, contrary to a recent claim in the literature. A recently proposed relation between D2 and the spectral compressibility chi is violated in the regime of strong multifractality, with chi-->1 in the limit D2-->0.  相似文献

We report new zero-field muon spin relaxation and neutron spin echo measurements in ferromagnetic (FM) (La,Ca)MnO3 which suggest at least two spatially separated regions possessing very different Mn-ion spin dynamics. One region displays diffusive relaxation, "critical slowing down" near T(C) and an increasing volume fraction below T(C), suggesting overdamped FM spin waves below T(C). The second region possesses more slowly fluctuating spins, a linewidth independent of q, and a decreasing volume fraction below T(C). The estimated length scale for the inhomogeneity is 相似文献

We present numerical simulations of fully nonlinear drift wave-zonal flow (DW-ZF) turbulence systems in a nonuniform magnetoplasma. In our model, the drift wave (DW) dynamics is pseudo-three-dimensional (pseudo-3D) and accounts for self-interactions among finite amplitude DWs and their coupling to the two-dimensional (2D) large amplitude zonal flows (ZFs). The dynamics of the 2D ZFs in the presence of the Reynolds stress of the pseudo-3D DWs is governed by the driven Euler equation. Numerical simulations of the fully nonlinear coupled DW-ZF equations reveal that short scale DW turbulence leads to nonlinear saturated dipolar vortices, whereas the ZF sets in spontaneously and is dominated by a monopolar vortex structure. The ZFs are found to suppress the cross-field turbulent particle transport. The present results provide a better model for understanding the coexistence of short and large scale coherent structures, as well as associated subdued cross-field particle transport in magnetically confined fusion plasmas.  相似文献

We investigate the airborne transport of particles on a granular surface by the saltation mechanism through numerical simulation of particle motion coupled with turbulent flow. We determine the saturated flux q(s) and show that its behavior is consistent with classical empirical relations obtained from wind tunnel measurements. Our results also allow one to propose and explain a new relation valid for small fluxes, namely, q(s) = a(u*-u(t))alpha, where u* and u(t) are the shear and threshold velocities of the wind, respectively, and the scaling exponent is alpha approximately 2. We obtain an expression for the velocity profile of the wind distorted by the particle motion due to the feedback and discover a novel dynamical scaling relation. We also find a new expression for the dependence of the height of the saltation layer as a function of the wind velocity.  相似文献

Using numerical self-consistent solutions of a sequence of finite replica symmetry breakings (RSB) and Wilson's renormalization group but with the number of RSB steps playing a role of decimation scales, we report evidence for a nontrivial T-->0 limit of the Parisi order function q(x) for the Sherrington-Kirkpatrick spin glass. Supported by scaling in RSB space, the fixed point order function is conjectured to be q*(a)=sqrt[pi]/2 a/xi erf(xi/a) on 0 a at T =0 and xi approximately 1.13+/-0.01. Xi plays the role of a correlation length in a-space. q*(a) may be viewed as the solution of an effective 1D field theory.  相似文献

A pellicle, a gel film of microbial cellulose, is a supermolecular system containing 99% of water by weight, which is closely related to an amorphous structure in it. Using ultra-small-angle neutron scattering, in order to cover over a wide range of length scales from nm to 10 microm, we examined the hierarchical amorphous structure in the microbial cellulose, which is synthesized by a bacterium (Acetobacter xylinum). The microbial cellulose swollen by water shows small-angle scattering that obeys a power law q -behavior according to q -alpha as a function of the magnitude of the scattering vector q . The power law, determined by scattering, is attributed to a mass fractal due to the distribution of the center of mass for the crystallite (microfibril) in amorphous cellulose swollen by water. As q increases, alpha takes the values of 2.5, 1, and 2.35, corresponding, respectively, to a gel network composed of bundles, a bundle composed of cellulose ribbons, and concentration fluctuations in a bundle. From the mass fractal q -behavior and its length scale limits, we evaluated a volume fraction of crystallite in microbial cellulose. It was found that 90% of the cellulose bundle is occupied by amorphous cellulose containing water.  相似文献

The interaction between elasticity and capillarity is used to produce three-dimensional structures through the wrapping of a liquid droplet by a planar sheet. The final encapsulated 3D shape is controlled by tailoring the initial geometry of the flat membrane. Balancing interfacial energy with elastic bending energy provides a critical length scale below which encapsulation cannot occur, which is verified experimentally. This length is found to depend on the thickness as h3/2, a scaling favorable to miniaturization which suggests a new way of mass production of 3D micro- or nanoscale objects.  相似文献

报道一种用电光晶体实现快速调谐和凋制激光频率的方法.在Littrow型外腔反馈半导体激光中插入LiNbO3晶体,利用LiNbO3晶体的电光效应,通过改变晶体电压来调节激光器的有效腔长,可以对激光频率进行快速的调谐和调制.采用该方法,自制外腔反馈半导体激光器的调谐频率可达到2 kHz,它的调谐范围为350 MHz,激光频率调谐系数约为1.06 MHz/V,用饱和吸收光谱观测频率调谐的效果.快速激光频率调制可以应用在稳频技术上,将外腔反馈半导体激光器调制在5~100 kHz频率下,均获得了87Rb原子D2线的饱和吸收光谱的色散信号,并实现了激光频率在饱和吸收峰上的长期稳定.  相似文献

Counterion condensation is a basic feature of 2D electrostatics exhibited by highly charged rodlike polymers such as DNA. In the framework of the Poisson Boltzmann equation with salt, we show that such a polymer of radius a attracts a condensate of thickness RM=A(axi)1/2 where xi is the Debye length and A depends weakly on the polymer charge density q0. To leading order in 1/ln(xi/a), we derive the condensate structure and show that free ions follow universal density profiles independent of a and q0. Generalizing this approach we calculate ion profiles for finite concentration solutions.  相似文献

We report the full spectrum of the evolution of the wrinkle pattern formation in a thin bilayer film of an elastic metal on a viscoelastic polymer. Although the origin is different, the transition of an initial islandlike pattern to a labyrinthine structure without any change in the wavelength (q approximately t(0)) and the overall evolutionary process is strikingly similar to that in the spinodal system but the process is robust and takes place on a long time scale (about 10 days). The change into a mountainous topography in the late stages is accompanied by an increase in the length scale from an initial wavelength to another. This change, due to the relaxation of the confined polymer that results in a transition from elastic- to viscouslike behavior, induces wave coarsening (q approximately t(-1.04+/-0.08)) and macroscopic roughening.  相似文献

Measurements of time-dependent diffusion are performed on a rock sample saturated first with water, then methane and finally ethane. The gases were selected because their increased diffusivities and relaxation times allow probing greater length scales than water and because of their practical relevance. The nuclear magnetic resonance measurements employed pulse field gradient diffusion editing pulse sequences, allowing analysis of D(t) as a function of relaxation time. Very different D(t) behaviors are observed for different relaxation times, including indications of connected pore networks at moderate relaxation times.  相似文献

Several models based on the diffusion-limited aggregation (DLA) model were proposed and their scaling properties explored by computational and theoretical approaches. In this paper, we consider a new extension of the on-lattice DLA model in which the unitary random steps are replaced by random flights of fixed length. This procedure reduces the screening for particle penetration present in the original DLA model and, consequently, generates new pattern classes. The patterns have DLA-like scaling properties at small length of the random flights. However, as the flight size increases, the patterns are initially round and compact but become fractal for sufficiently large clusters. Their radius of gyration and number of particles at the cluster surface scale asymptotically as in the original DLA model. We report a systematic study of xenon gas diffusion NMR in simple model porous media, random packs of mono-sized glass beads, and focus on three specific areas peculiar to gas-phase diffusion. These topics are: (i) diffusion of spins on the order of the pore dimensions during the application of the diffusion encoding gradient pulses in a PGSE experiment (breakdown of the narrow pulse approximation and imperfect background gradient cancellation), (ii) the ability to derive long length scale structural information, and (iii) effects of finite sample size. We find that the time-dependent diffusion coefficient, D(t), of the imbibed xenon gas at short diffusion times in small beads is significantly affected by the gas pressure. In particular, as expected, we find smaller deviations between measured D(t) and theoretical predictions as the gas pressure is increased, resulting from reduced diffusion during the application of the gradient pulse. The deviations are then completely removed when water D(t) is observed in the same samples. The use of gas also allows us to probe D(t) over a wide range of length scales and observe the long time asymptotic limit which is proportional to the inverse tortuosity of the sample, as well as the diffusion distance where this limit takes effect (approximately 1-1.5 bead diameters). The Padé approximation can be used as a reference for expected xenon D(t) data between the short and the long time limits, allowing us to explore deviations from the expected behavior at intermediate times as a result of finite sample size effects. Finally, the application of the Padé interpolation between the long and the short time asymptotic limits yields a fitted length scale (the Padé length), which is found to be approximately 0.13b for all bead packs, where b is the bead diameter.  相似文献

We obtain the κ-deformed versions of the retarded and advanced Green functions and show that their causality properties are blurred in a time interval of the order of a length parameter q=1/(2κ). The functions also indicate a smearing of the light cone. These results favor the interpretation of q as a fundamental length scale below which the concept of a point in space-time should be substituted by the concept of a fuzzy region of radius q, as proposed long ago by Heisenberg.  相似文献
