Driven dynamics of a two-dimensional Frenkel-Kontorova model is studied in the paper. In our numerical simulations, it is found that the movement direction of the center of mass is not consistent with that of the external driving force except for some special symmetric directions at the lower driving force. Our results also indicate that the movement direction of the center of mass strongly depends on both the magnitude and the direction of the external driving force as well as the misfit angle between two layers.  相似文献

Dynamics in two-dimensional vortex systems with random pinning centres is investigated using molecular dynamical simulations. The driving force and temperature dependences of vortex velocity are investigated. Below the critical depinning force Fc, a creep motion of vortex is found at low temperature. At forces slightly above Fc, a part of vortices flow in winding channels at zero temperature. In the vortex channel flow region, we observe the abnormal behaviour of vortex dynamics: the velocity is roughly independent of temperature or even decreases with temperature at low temperatures. A phase diagram that describes different dynamics of vortices is presented.  相似文献

The dry friction force between two contacting surface layers is studied. The upper layer is arranged on a two-dimensional square lattice and driven by an external driving force. The lower layer is approximated by a two-dimensional periodic substrate potential. This model, usually called two-dimensional Frenkel-Kontorova model, is applied to study the friction forces in this paper. The behaviors of different substrate potential strongly affect the static friction force. It is found that the system has strong anisotropic character. The possibility to obtain superlubricity is suggested.  相似文献

By using the molecular dynamic simulation method with a fourth-order Runge--Kutta algorithm, a two-dimensional dc- and ac-driven Frenkel--Kontorova (FK) model with a square symmetry substrate potential for a square lattice layer has been investigated in this paper. For this system, the effects of many different parameters on the average velocity and the static friction force have been studied. It is found that not only the amplitude and frequency of ac-driven force, but also the direction of the external driving force and the misfit angle between two layers have some strong influences on the static friction force. It can be concluded that the superlubricity phenomenon appears easily with a larger ac amplitude and lower ac frequency for some special direction of the external force and misfit angle.  相似文献

The influence of the J×B force on the topographical modification of W targets during a type-I-like ELM in ITER has been studied numerically. A two-dimensional(2D) fluid dynamics model is employed by solving liquid hydrodynamic Navier-Stokes equation with the 2D heat conduction equation in addition to driving forces for surface topography, such as surface tension and pressure gradient, the J×B force is particularly addressed. The governing equations are solved with the finite volume method by adequate prediction of the moving solid-liquid interface. Numerical simulations are carried out for a range of type-I ELM characteristic parameters. Our results indicate that both the surface tension and the J×B force contributes to the melt motion of tungsten plates when the energy flux is under 3000 MW·m~(-2), the surface tension is a major driving force while the pressure gradient is negligible. Our results also indicate that the J×B force makes the small hills grow at different rates at both the crater edges under a type-I-like ELM heat load with a Gaussian power density profile.  相似文献

We present a study of the dynamic behavior of a two-sublattice spin-5/2 Ising model with bilinear and crystal-field interactions in the presence of a time-dependent oscillating external magnetic field on alternate layers of a hexagonal lattice by using the Glauber-type stochastic dynamics. The lattice is formed by alternate layers of spins σ=5/2 and S=5/2. We employ the Glauber transition rates to construct the mean-field dynamic equations. First, we investigate the time variations of the average sublattice magnetizations to find the phases in the system and then the thermal behavior of the dynamic sublattice magnetizations to characterize the nature (first- or second-order) of the phase transitions and to obtain the dynamic phase transition (DPT) points. We also study the thermal behavior of the dynamic total magnetization to find the dynamic compensation temperature and to determine the type of the dynamic compensation behavior. We present the dynamic phase diagrams, including the dynamic compensation temperatures, in nine different planes. The phase diagrams contain seven different fundamental phases, thirteen different mixed phases, in which the binary and ternary combination of fundamental phases and the compensation temperature or the L-type behavior strongly depend on the interaction parameters.  相似文献

In this paper we study the existence and stability of two-dimensional discrete gap breathers in a two-dimensional diatomic face-centered square lattice consisting of alternating light and heavy atoms, with on-site potential and coupling potential. This study is focused on two-dimensional breathers with their frequency in the gap that separates the acoustic and optical bands of the phonon spectrum. We demonstrate the possibility of the existence of two-dimensional gap breathers by using a numerical method. Six types of two-dimensional gap breathers are obtained, i.e., symmetric, mirror-symmetric and asymmetric, whether the center of the breather is on a light or a heavy atom. The difference between one-dimensional discrete gap breathers and two-dimensional discrete gap breathers is also discussed. We use Aubry's theory to analyze the stability of discrete gap breathers in the two-dimensional diatomic face-centered square lattice.  相似文献

Dynamical behaviours of the motion of particles in a periodic potential under a constant driving velocity by a spring at one end are explored. In the stationary case, the stable equilibrium position of the particle experiences an elasticity instability transition. When the driving velocity is nonzero, depending on the elasticity coefficient and the pulling velocity, the system exhibits complicated and interesting dynamics, such as periodic and chaotic motions. The results obtained here may shed light on studies of dynamical processes in sliding friction.  相似文献

The phonon relaxation and heat conduction in one-dimensional Fermi-Pasta-Ulam (FPU) β lattices are studied by using molecular dynamics simulations. The phonon relaxation rate, which dominates the length dependence of the FPU β lattice, is first calculated from the energy autocorrelation function for different modes at various temperatures through equilibrium molecular dynamics simulations. We find that the relaxation rate as a function of wave number k is proportional to k1.688, which leads to a N0.41 divergence of the thermal conductivity in the framework of Green-Kubo relation. This is also in good agreement with the data obtained by non-equilibrium molecular dynamics simulations which estimate the length dependence exponent of the thermal conductivity as 0.415. Our results confirm the N2/5 divergence in one-dimensional FPU β lattices. The effects of the heat flux on the thermal conductivity are also studied by imposing different temperature differences on the two ends of the lattices. We find that the thermal conductivity is insensitive to the heat flux under our simulation conditions. It implies that the linear response theory is applicable towards the heat conduction in one-dimensional FPU β lattices.  相似文献

In this paper, the lattice Boltzmann method is applied to simulate a dumbbell moving in a pressure-driven flow in a planar channel with the stress-integration method for the evaluation of hydrodynamic force acting on the cylinders. The simulation results show that the dumbbell also has the important feature of the Segr\'e--Silberberg effect like a particle in a Poiseuille flow. The dumbbell trajectories, orientations, the cylinders vertical velocities and angular velocities all reach their equilibrium values separately independent of their initial positions. It is also found that the dumbbell equilibrium positions depend on the flow Reynolds number, blockage ratio and elastic coefficient. This study is expected to be helpful to understand the dynamics of polymer solutions, polymer synthesis and reaction, etc.  相似文献

We present simulation results of the vortex dynamics in a trapped Bose-Einstein condensate in the presence of a rotating optical lattice. Changing the potential amplitude and the relative rotation frequency between the condensate and the optical lattice, we find a rich variety of dynamical phases of vortices. The onset of these different phases is described by the force balance of a driving force, a pinning force, and vortex-vortex interactions. In particular, when the optical lattice rotates faster than the condensate, an incommensurate effect leads to a vortex-liquid phase supported by the competition between the driving force and the dissipation.  相似文献

A two-parameter family of asymmetric exclusion processes for particles on a one-dimensional lattice is defined. The two parameters of the model control the driving force and effect which we call pushing, due to the fact that particles can push each other in this model. We show that this model is exactly solvable via the coordinate Bethe Ansatz and show that its N-particle S-matrix is factorizable. We also study the interplay of the above effects in determining various steady state and dynamical characteristics of the system.  相似文献

We study the behavior of a Frisch-Hasslacher-Pomeau lattice gas automaton under the effect of a spatially periodic forcing. It is shown that the lattice gas dynamics reproduces the steady-state features of the bifurcation pattern predicted by a properly truncated model of the Navier-Stokes equations. In addition, we show that the dynamical evolution of the instabilities driving the bifurcation can be modeled by supplementing the truncated Navier-Stokes equation with a random force chosen on the basis of the automaton noise.  相似文献

The dynamical phase transitions in two-dimensional fully frustrated Josephson junction arrays at zero temperature are investigated numerically with the resistively shunted junction model through the fluctuating twist boundary condition. The model is subjected to a driving current with nonzero orthogonal components i x , i y parallel to both axes of the square lattice. We find a roughly lattice size independent phase diagram with three dynamical phases: a pinned vortex lattice phase, a moving vortex lattice phase and a moving plastic phase. The phase diagram shows a direct transition from the pinned vortex to the moving vortex phase and the separation of the pinned vortex and the moving plastic phases. The time-dependent voltages v x and v y are periodic in the moving vortex lattice phase. But they are aperiodic in the moving plastic phase, resulting in non-monotonic characteristics and hysteresis in the current-voltage curves. It is found that the characteristic frequency is twice the time-averaged voltage in the moving vortex phase and around the time-averaged voltage in the plastic flow regime.Received: 29 May 2003, Published online: 2 October 2003PACS: 64.60.Ht Dynamic critical phenomena - 74.25.Sv Critical currents - 74.25.Fy Transport properties  相似文献

We consider the dissipative nonlinear dynamics of a model of interacting atoms driven over a substrate potential. The substrate parameters can be suitably tuned in order to introduce disorder effects starting from two geometrically opposed ideal cases: commensurate and incommensurate interfaces. The role of temperature is also investigated through the inclusion of a stochastic force via a Langevin molecular dynamics approach. Here, we focus on the most interesting tribological case of underdamped sliding dynamics. For different values of the chain stiffness, we evaluate the static friction threshold and consider the depinning transition mechanisms as a function of the applied driving force. As experimentally observed in QCM frictional measurements of adsorbed layers, we find that disorder operates differently depending on the starting geometrical configuration. For commensurate interfaces, randomness lowers considerably the chain depinning threshold. On the contrary, for incommensurate mating contacts, disorder favors static pinning destroying the possible frictionless (superlubric) sliding states. Interestingly, thermal and disorder effects strongly influence also the occurrence of parametric resonances inside the chain, capable of converting the kinetic energy of the center-of-mass motion into internal vibrational excitations. We comment on the nature of the different dynamical states and hysteresis (due to system bi-stability) observed at different increasing and decreasing strengths of the external force.  相似文献

We calculate the Landau interaction function f (k,k') for the two-dimensional t-t' Hubbard model on the square lattice using second and higher order perturbation theory. Within the Landau-Fermi liquid framework we discuss the behavior of spin and charge susceptibilities as function of the onsite interaction and band filling. In particular we analyze the role of elastic umklapp processes as driving force for the anisotropic reduction of the compressibility on parts of the Fermi surface. 相似文献

We report a surprising hysteretic behavior in the dynamics of a simple one-dimensional nonlinear model inspired by the tribological problem of two sliding surfaces with a thin solid lubricant layer in between. In particular, we consider the frictional dynamics of a harmonic chain confined between two rigid incommensurate substrates which slide with a fixed relative velocity. This system was previously found, by explicit solution of the equations of motion, to possess plateaus in parameter space exhibiting a remarkable quantization of the chain center-of-mass velocity (dynamic pinning) solely determined by the interface incommensurability. Starting now from this quantized sliding state, in the underdamped regime of motion and in analogy to what ordinarily happens for static friction, the dynamics exhibits a large hysteresis under the action of an additional external driving force Fext. A critical threshold value Fc of the adiabatically applied force Fext is required in order to alter the robust dynamics of the plateau attractor. When the applied force is decreased and removed, the system can jump to intermediate sliding regimes (a sort of “dynamic” stick-slip motion) and eventually returns to the quantized sliding state at a much lower value of Fext. Hysteretic behavior is also observed as a function of the external driving velocity.  相似文献
