Radiative effects on classical nonrelativistic charged particles are discussed in complete analogy with those arising in quantum electrodynamics. The effects originate in the interaction of the particle with its own electromagnetic fields. In particular, we derive an expression for the anomalous magnetic moment which provides both an intuitively appealing explanation of its origin and a reasonable relation to experimental values.  相似文献

A Hamiltonian approach is presented to study the two dimensional motion of damped electric charges in time dependent electromagnetic fields. The classical and the corresponding quantum mechanical problems are solved for particular cases using canonical transformations applied to Hamiltonians for a particle with variable mass. Green’s function is constructed and, from it, the motion of a Gaussian wave packet is studied in detail.  相似文献

The kinetics of classical charged particles is examined in this paper within the framework of Einstein-Cartan theory. It is shown that the Vlasov equation in Riemann Cartan space has the same form for spinless charged particles as in Riemann space. As an example, the solution is examined of the system of Einstein-Cartan-Vlasov equations in Minkowski space. Spatially periodic solutions for the vector field potential are obtained for a relativistic statistical system of particles with brief vector interaction. In this review we consider the effective interaction force of identically charged nonrelativistic particles (electrons, light and heavy atoms nuclei) in a strong pulsed laser field. It is shown that under certain conditions, the effective interaction force can become a force of attraction. This effect significantly changes the kinematics of the interaction between the particles and can lead to bound states.  相似文献

The relation between wave mechanics and classical mechanics is reviewed, and it is stressed that the latter cannot be regarded as the limit of the former as 0. The motion of a classical particle (or ensemble of particles) is described by means of a Schrödinger-like equation that was found previously. A system of a quantum particle and a classical particle is investigated (1) for an interaction that leads to stationary states with discrete energies and (2) for an interaction that enables the classical particle to act as a measuring instrument for determining a physical variable of the quantum particle.  相似文献

We report on a search for charged massive long-lived particles (CMLLPs), based on 5.2 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron pp collider. We search for events in which one or more particles are reconstructed as muons but have speed and ionization energy loss (dE/dx) inconsistent with muons produced in beam collisions. CMLLPs are predicted in several theories of physics beyond the standard model. We exclude pair-produced long-lived gauginolike charginos below 267 GeV and Higgsino-like charginos below 217 GeV at 95% C.L., as well as long-lived scalar top quarks with mass below 285 GeV.  相似文献

A theory of the extended classical charged particle is presented. The theory assumes extension along the forward light cone of the particle instead of the usual now-plane. Solutions are given for many of the traditional problems including 4/3, instability, infinite self-energy, and runaway velocity. The Lorentz and Lorentz-Dirac equations are derived from a more general equation of motion.  相似文献

Pair interactions whose Fourier transform is non-negative and vanishes above a wave number K(0) are shown to give rise to periodic and aperiodic infinite volume ground state configurations (GSCs) in any dimension d. A typical three-dimensional example is an interaction of asymptotic form cosK(0)r/r(4). The result is obtained for densities rho > or = rho(d), where rho(1) = K(0)/2(pi), rho(2) = (sq.rt(3)/8)(K(0)/pi)(2), and rho(3) = (1/8sq.rt(2)) x (K(0)/pi)(3). At rho(d) there is a unique periodic GSC which is the uniform chain, the triangular lattice, and the bcc lattice for d = 1,2,3, respectively. For rho > rho(d), the GSC is nonunique and the degeneracy is continuous: Any periodic configuration of density rho with all reciprocal lattice vectors not smaller than K(0), and any union of such configurations, is a GSC. The fcc lattice is a GSC only for rho > or = (1/6 sq.rt(3)) x (K(0)/pi)(3).  相似文献

We have constructed magnetostatic traps from permanent magnets for trapping charged and neutral atoms. Two storage experiments are presented: a compact Penning trap for light ions and magnetic trapping of single neutral atoms. The dynamics of cold neutral atoms and their loss mechanisms in a quadrupole magnetostatic trap are discussed. The stochastic Eden model of charged particles aggregation in two-dimensional systems is presented. This model is governed by the following two parameters: screening length of electrostatic interaction, , and short-range attraction energy, E. Different patterns of finite and infinite aggregates are observed. They are of the following morphology types: linear or linear with bending, worm-like, DBM (dense-branching morphology), DBM with nucleus, and compact Eden-like. The transition between the different modes of growth is studied and phase diagram of the growth structures is obtained in co-ordinates. The detailed aggregate structure analysis, including analysis of their scaling properties, is presented. The scheme of the internal inhomogeneous structure of aggregates is proposed. The recently obtained results on e+e? → hadrons and multigamma production in pp collisions provide some support for a previously made argument that heavy, highly charged subnucleons may exist, and a search for such particles in cosmic rays has been made. In 620 hours no candidates were detected, and an upper limit for the unaccompanied particle flux of 7 · 10?10 cm?2 sec?1 sr?1 at sea level under 600 g/cm2 concrete is obtained with 90% confidence.  相似文献

It is shown that, contrary to popular belief, diffraction scattering in nuclear and particle physics is not always of Fraunhofer type. By establishing a simple physical connection between scattering in a Coulomb field and Fresnel diffraction we show that diffractive collisions of heavy charged particles are predominantly of Fresnel type. We derive quantitative criteria for Fraunhofer and Fresnel scattering which lead to a classification of all scattering processes by means of a “diffraction diagram.” This enables us to make specific predictions about the gross structure of angular distributions for any experimental conditions.  相似文献
