We have generated a frequency-modulated laser beam by use of cross-phase modulation between orthogonally polarized beams in a polarization-preserving optical fiber. This frequency modulation is based on the temporal intensity beating of the drive beam that is caused by another beam that has a slightly different wavelength. Moreover, we have demonstrated generation of a special frequency-modulated laser beam with temporally changing modulation frequency by use of cross-phase modulation in conjugation with self-phase modulation.  相似文献

We describe progress in the measurement and control of the carrier-envelope phase-slip frequencies of pulses generated by a femtosecond optical parametric oscillator. Example applications of such control are presented and include the generation of a frequency comb spanning nearly three optical octaves, and the creation of a train of 30-fs pulses via coherent pulse synthesis. Future prospects for frequency combs based on femtosecond optical parametric oscillators are discussed.  相似文献

Supercontinuum (SC) generation in photonic crystal fiber (PCF) is demonstrated using an amplified femtosecond stretched pulses. The stretched pulse is obtained from a mode-locked Erbium-doped fiber laser and operates at 1564 nm with a repetition rate of 8.27 MHz and a pulse width of 340 fs. Using a 50 m long PCF, broad SC spectra are observed starting from 1220 and 1050 nm for the corresponding 5.1 and 177 kW pump and spanning a wavelength region of more than 1750 nm. At a maximum peak pump power of 177 kW, flat SC which extends over bandwidths of 660 and 486 nm are obtained using 50 and 100 m piece of PCF respectively. However, the output power level is higher for the 100 m PCF especially at longer wavelength region.  相似文献

We report a method for optimizing the amplification of femtosecond optical pulses by using dispersion management. The amount of dispersion provided to the seed optical pulse of an erbium-doped fiber (EBF) has an optimal region that enhances the output power of an amplifier. The power enhancement is accompanied by spectral broadening, which originates from adiabatic narrowing in the erbium-doped fiber. The amplified optical pulses can be used to generate an octave-spanning optical frequency comb (OFC) by employing a highly nonlinear fiber (HNLF).  相似文献

<正>We theoretically analyze and experimentally demonstrate a method of generating equal-amplitude optical comb exploiting multi-frequency phase modulation.The theoretical analysis shows that 4n-1 equal-amplitude spectral lines can be obtained when the modulation signal comprises n frequency components including the fundamental frequency and the odd harmonic frequencies,and 2n+1 equal-amplitude spectral lines can be obtained when the modulation signal comprises n frequency components including the fundamental frequency and the even harmonic frequencies.Then,we numerically simulate the spectra of 5,7,9,and 11 equal-amplitude spectral lines,respectively,which are also obtained in experiments with frequency separation of 30 MHz and flatness of better than 0.3 dB.  相似文献

We propose a novel scheme to generate ultrawideband (UWB) monocycle pulses based on cross-phase modulation (XPM) of a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA). The proposed system consists of a SOA and an optical bandpass filter (OBF). Due to the XPM, a continuous wave (CW) probe signal is phase modulated by another optical Gauss pulse in the SOA. The OBF will convert the phase modulation to intensity modulation. A pair of polarity-reversed UWB monocycle pulses is achieved by locating the probe carrier at the positive and negative linear slopes of the OBF. Both cases conform to the UWB definition of the Federal Communications Commission.  相似文献

We demonstrate theoretically that the negatively chirped femtosecond laser pulse can be spectrally narrowed by cross-phase modulation. The new view is well supported by numerical simulation. We propose and experimentally demonstrate an all optical arbitrary waveform generation by optical frequency comb (OFC) based on cascading intensity modulation. By selecting spectral lines of interest from OFC through optical filters, 10 GHz, 20 GHz, and 60 GHz sinusoidal signals with low phase noise and more complex waveforms, including ultra-short pulse, half-wave cosine, and single frequency modulated MMW signals, are generated easily.  相似文献

报道了一种基于飞秒锁模光纤激光脉冲基频光的光纤型差频产生(DFG)红外光梳及其研制技术.基于自主研制的重频锁定200 MHz飞秒锁模掺铒光纤激光器,经啁啾脉冲光纤放大与超连续谱产生技术,优化近零色散OFS光纤(型号:OFS-980-20)长度,结合可调延时线,获得了精准同步的基频双色脉冲;以GaSe为非线性晶体,利用光整流技术,产生了可在6—10μm范围内宽带调谐的DFG红外光梳,光梳最大光谱宽度可达1.3μm.这种光纤型远红外光梳可望在分子光谱精密测量等领域发挥重要作用.  相似文献

The well-known problem of the modulation instability of femtosecond light pulses propagating in a cubic nonlinear medium is considered on the basis of computer simulation with allowance made for the time dispersion of the nonlinear response. The dependence of the maximum perturbation frequency at which the instability takes place on the parameter characterizing the time dispersion of the nonlinearity is studied. The numerical experiments carried out verified the previous conclusion of the authors, based on an original approach to the analysis of propagation of a femtosecond pulse, that the frequency interval of the modulation instability can increase with increasing influence of the dispersion of the nonlinear response. This conclusion is at variance with the conclusion drawn by other researchers on the basis of linear analysis.  相似文献

Nonlinear coupled equations describing the copropagation of two light pulses of different central frequencies in metamaterials (MMs) are derived. Based on the derived equations and the Drude model for dispersive MMs, the modulation instabilities (MIs) induced by cross-phase modulation (XPM) for different combination of the signs of refractive index experienced by the two optical pulses, respectively, are analyzed. It is shown that, in the absence of group-velocity mismatch, the property of MI only depends on the sign of group-velocity dispersion the two pulses experience, irrespective of the sign of refractive index. The group-velocity mismatch plays an important role in the occurrence of MI, especially when the central frequencies of the two pulses near the electric or magnetic plasma frequency of the MM. The theoretical results are confirmed by numerical simulations.  相似文献

We evaluated the accuracy of an optical frequency comb in optical fibers by measuring the frequency shift after a sideband from an electro-optic modulator had passed through the fiber. We found that a frequency drift of a few hertz was due largely to a variation in the ambient temperature that corresponded to an increase in the square root of the Allan variance to 0.66 Hz.  相似文献

实验利用商品光纤飞秒激光器,自行构建了一套完整的光学频率梳系统,并获得了约30 dB信噪比的系统频移(fceo)信号.实现了光频梳重复频率(frep)信号及系统频移(fceo)信号的高稳定度锁定,并通过实验验证了光频梳锁定的跟踪精度.基于此稳定光频梳完成了对1064 nm碘稳频Nd:YAG固体激光器的绝对频率测量.实验结果表明,frep的跟踪精度在100 s取样时间时优于3.7×10-14,测量得到的1064 nm激光器绝对频率为:281630111757362 Hz.这一测量结果与国际计量委员会(CIPM)给出的国际推荐值符合到不确定度之内. 关键词: 光纤光频梳 稳频 锁相技术 光学频率计量  相似文献

<正>An approach to generate a flat optical comb with tunable comb spacing and adjustable comb number is proposed.In the proposed approach,a Mach-Zehnder modulator(MZM),being biased to generate two carrier-suppressed first-order sidebands,is cascaded with a phase modulator.The two optical sidebands are then sent to the phase modulator to generate two identical,but frequency-shifted phase-modulated spectra.Thanks to the complementary nature of the two adjacent comb lines in the phase-modulated spectra,the overlapping of the two spectra would lead to the generation of a flat optical comb.Since only the phase modulation index or the microwave power is needed to be adjusted,the system is easy to be implemented with tunable comb spacing and adjustable comb number.Numerical simulations are performed,and the approach is verified by an experiment.  相似文献

本文分析了小信号情况下飞秒脉冲的倍频特性,在非耗尽近似下,得出了飞秒脉冲二次谐波波形及效率的解析解,在时间域内,对一般条件的耦合波方程进行了数值解,分析了相位失配对飞秒脉冲倍频波形及效率的影响。 用0.5mm厚的一类匹配LBO晶体对碰撞锁模激光器产生的80fs超短脉冲进行了腔外倍频实验,实验结果与理论计算符合得很好。  相似文献

The evolution of the femtosecond pulse parameters during the self-compression has been studied under a variety of experimental conditions. 研究了近红外飞秒激光的偏振在太赫兹频率的超快调制.利用抽运-探测光谱技术,通过改变两个脉冲之间的延迟时间可以控制光脉冲的旋转角.在Li:NaTb(WO42磁光晶体中观察到探测光的偏振随延迟时间变化的高速振荡,振荡信号的中心频率为0.19 THz.这种超快偏振调制现象可以解释为,抽运-探测实验构置中,前向传播的抽运光诱导的光学克尔非线性引起被晶体远端表面所反射的背向传播的探测光脉冲偏振面的额外旋转.通过改变抽运光的圆偏振旋性可以控制探测光调制信号的相位和振幅.实验结果表明,非线性光学克尔效应可以作为一种全新的手段,在磁光晶体中实现近红外飞秒激光以太赫兹频率的超快偏振调控.这将在超快磁光调制器等全光器件中得以应用.实验结果将有助于偏振依赖的超快动力学过程的研究.  相似文献

Cross-phase modulation in a highly nonlinear microstructure optical fiber with low dispersion and high birefringence is used for the measurement of the pulse amplitude and phase of picosecond pulses by frequency-resolved optical gating. An alignment-free configuration including an optical amplifier is proposed and experimentally tested. The simulated annealing method is used for retrieving the amplitude and phase from cross-phase modulation spectrograms. It takes into account the birefringence of the measurement fiber and the resolution of the optical spectrum analyzer.  相似文献
