The S-matrix property of factorizability, when applied to O(N) symmetric models, is shown to select N = 2 and, at the classical level, two well-known complexifications of sine-Gordon theory. Factorizability remains true at the one-loop level only when some finite quantum counterterms are added to the lagrangians. On the other hand, when dimensionally regularized the models are one-loop renormalizable and asymptotically scale invariant but at two loops order multiplicative renormalizability is lost. However we have been able to exhibit the complete expression of the finite quantum corrections that restore renormalizability. Moreover, a simultaneous request for one-loop non-production properties and two-loop renormalizability fixes all physical parameters and gives as an extra bonus two-loop vanishing of the β-function.  相似文献

We formulate general interactions of an N=2 Yang-Mills supermultiplet coupled to N=2 supergravity in terms of N=1 invariant functions. We show that the N=2 scalar potential of the complex scalar fields in the adjoint representation, superpartners of the Yang-Mills gauge fields, splits into a conventional gauge contribution as well as in a superpotential term contribution proportional to the SO(2) gauge coupling of N=2 de Sitter supergravity. The relation of these results to the σ model structure of N4 extended supergravities is also discussed, particularly in connection with the coset disintegration of scalar manifolds.  相似文献

The large N limit of the O(N) Heisenberg spin system in two dimensions (a lattice version of the non-linear σ-model) is analysed by the collective field technique. A compact expression for the mass gap and the β-function is obtained for arbitrary but fixed gN. The strong and weak coupling limits of this expression correctly reproduce the known results.  相似文献

We introduce a new parameterization of four-fermion operator matrix elements which does not involve quark masses and thus allows a reduction of systematic uncertainties. In order to simplify the matching between lattice and continuum renormalization schemes, we express our results in terms of renormalization group invariant B-parameters which are renormalization-scheme and scale independent. As an application of our proposal, matrix elements of ΔI=3/2 and SUSY ΔS=2 operators have been computed. The calculations have been performed using the tree-level improved Clover lattice action at two different values of the strong coupling constant (β=6/g2=6.0 and 6.2), in the quenched approximation. Renormalization constants and mixing coefficients of lattice operators have been obtained non-perturbatively. Using lowest order χPT, we also obtain ππ|O7|KNDRI=2=(0.11±0.02) GeV4 and ππ|O8|KNDRI=2=(0.51±0.05) GeV4 at μ=2 GeV.  相似文献

The action for N = 2 supergravity can be presented as the invariant volume of the chiral subspaces of the real N = 2 superspace. The invariant volume of the real superspace itself is shown to vanish. We study N = 1 dualities in four-dimensional supersymmetric gauge theories as the world volume theory of D4 branes with one compact direction in type IIA string theory. We generalize the previous work for SO(Nc1) × Sp(Nc2) with the superpotential W = TrX4 to the case of W = TrX4(k+1) in terms of brane configuration. We conjecture that the new dualities for the product gauge groups of SO(Nc1) × Sp(Nc2) × SO(Nc3), SO(Nc1) × Sp(Nc2) × SO(Nc3) × Sp(Nc4) and higher multiple product gauge groups can be obtained by reversing the ordering of NS5 branes and D6 branes while preserving the linking numbers. We also describe the above dualities in terms of wrapping D6 branes around 3-cycles of Calabi-Yau threefolds in type IIA string theory. The theory with adjoint matter can be regarded as taking multiple copies of NS5 brane in the configuration of brane or geometric approaches.  相似文献

A new form of the relativistic three-body equations for the coupled πN and γN scattering reactions with three particle final states ππN and γπN is suggested. These equations are derived in the framework of the time-ordered three dimensional field theory. The solutions of the considered equations satisfy the unitarity condition and are exactly gauge invariant. The form of these three-body equations is does not depend on the choice of the model of Lagrangian and is also the same for the formulations with and without quark degrees of freedom.

The effective potentials of the suggested equations are defined by the vertex functions with two on-mass shell particles. It is emphasized that these input vertex functions can be constructed from experimental data. Special attention is given to the construction of the propagator of the Δ-resonance in the framework of the separable πN potential model. The strong dependence of the multichannel πN and γN cross sections on the form of the Δ-resonance propagator[2] is discussed.

The used formulation of the relativistic three-dimensional and three-body equations allows us to overcome a number of approximations which are usually used by practical calculations of the πN and γN scattering reactions.  相似文献

The β-functions of O(N)-symmetric non-linear σ-models on the lattice were recently discovered to be non-monotonic for N 3. We explain the non-monotonic behaviour as a non-perturbative lattice effect by relating it to the Kosterlitz-Thouless transition of the XY-model. We also relate the latter transition to the phase transition of the Ising model. These relationships are established by interpolating between the O(N)- and the O(N − 1)-symmetric non-linear σ-models by suppression of the Nth component of the N-vector field with a mass term. A critical line in the coupling-mass plane connects the critical point of the Ising model (N = 1) with the critical point of the XY-model (N = 2). This line extends towards the region of non-monotonic behaviour of the β-function of the O(3)-symmetric model. The nature of the transition lines is also investigated.  相似文献

We carried out four-body calculations of Λ4H and Λ4He taking both the 3N + Λ and 3N + Σ channels explicity with the use of realistic NN and YN interactions. The Σ-channel component plays an important role in binding energies of the A = 4 hypernuclei though the admixture is approximately 1%. The ΛN - ΣN coupling is found to be of central-force type in the Nijmegen model D and of tensor-force type in the model F.  相似文献

An 879.9(2) keV γ-ray transition has been identified following the β decay of 58V and assigned as the 2+1→0+1 transition in 58Cr34. A peak in the energies of the first excited 2+ states for the even–even chromium isotopes is now evident at 56Cr32, providing empirical evidence for a significant subshell gap at N=32. The appearance of this neutron subshell closure for neutron-rich nuclides may be attributed to the diminished π1f7/2–ν1f5/2 monopole proton–neutron interaction as protons are removed from the 1f7/2 single-particle orbital.  相似文献

The multicritical points of the O(N)-invariant N vector model in the large-N limit are re-examined. Of particular interest are the subtleties involved in the stability of the phase structure at critical dimensions. In the limit N → ∞ while the coupling ggc in a correlated manner (the double scaling limit) a massless bound state O(N) singlet is formed and powers of 1/N are compensated by IR singularities. The persistence of the N → ∞ results beyond the leading order is then studied with particular interest in the possible existence of a phase with propagating small mass vector fields and a massless singlet bound state. We point out that under certain conditions the double scaled theory of the singlet field is non-interacting in critical dimensions.  相似文献

We study the N=2 supersymmetric E6 models on the 6-dimensional space–time where the supersymmetry and gauge symmetry can be broken by the discrete symmetry. On the space–time M4×S1/(Z2×Z2′)×S1/(Z2×Z2′), for the zero modes, we obtain the 4-dimensional N=1 supersymmetric models with gauge groups SU(3)×SU(2)×SU(2)×U(1)2, SU(4)×SU(2)×SU(2)×U(1), and SU(3)×SU(2)×U(1)3 with one extra pair of Higgs doublets from the vector multiplet. In addition, considering that the extra space manifold is the annulus A2 and disc D2, we list all the constraints on constructing the 4-dimensional N=1 supersymmetric SU(3)×SU(2)×U(1)3 models for the zero modes, and give the simplest model with Z9 symmetry. We also comment on the extra gauge symmetry breaking and its generalization.  相似文献

A new heterotic N = 2 string with manifest target space supersymmetry is constructed by combining a conventional N = 2 string in the right-moving sector and a Green-Schwarz-Berkovits type string in the left-moving sector. The corresponding sigma mode] is then obtained by turning on background fields for the massless excitations. We compute the beta functions and we partially check the OPE's of the superconformal algebra perturbatively in t', all in superspace. The resulting field equations describe N = 1 self-dual supergravity.  相似文献

We discuss how N = 1 dualities in four dimensions are geometrically realized by wrapping D-branes about 3-cycles of Calabi-Yau threefolds. In this setup the N = 1 dualities for SU, SO and USp gauge groups with fundamental fields get mapped to statements about the monodromy and relations among 3-cycles of Calabi-Yau threefolds. The connection between the theory and its dual requires passing through configurations which are T-dual to the well-known phenomenon of decay of BPS states in N = 2 field theories in four dimensions. We compare our approach to recent works based on configurations of D-branes in the presence of NS 5-branes and give simple classical geometric derivations of various exotic dynamics involving D-branes ending on NS branes.  相似文献

We consider an O(N) version of a massive, interacting, chiral supersymmetry model solved exactly in the large N limit. We demonstrate that the system approaches a stable attractor at high energy densities, corresponding to a non-perturbative state for which the relevant field quanta are massless. The state is one of spontaneously broken O(N), which, due to the influence of supersymmetry, does not become restored at high energies. Introducing soft supersymmetry breaking to the Lagrangian results in scalar masses at the soft breaking scale ms independent of the mass scale of supersymmetry μ, with even smaller masses for the fermions.  相似文献

We present an analytic three-loop calculation for thermodynamic quantities of the O(n) symmetric Φ4 theory below Tc within the minimal subtraction scheme at fixed dimension d = 3. Goldstone singularities arising at an intermediate stage in the calculation of O(n) symmetric quantities cancel among themselves leaving a finite result in the limit of zero external field. From the free energy we calculate the three-loop terms of the amplitude functions ƒΦ, F+ and F of the order parameter and the specific heat above and below Tc, respectively, without using the e = 4-d expansion. A Borel resummation for the case n = 2 yields resummed amplitude functions fΦ and F that are slightly larger than the one-loop results. Accurate knowledge of these functions is needed for testing the renormalization-group prediction of critical-point universality along the λline of superfluid 4He. Combining the three-loop result for F with a recent five-loop calculation of the additive renormalization constant of the specific heat yields excellent agreement between the calculated and measured universal amplitude ratio A+/A- of the specific heat of 4He. In addition we use our result for fΦ to calculate the universal combination Rc of the amplitudes of the order parameter, the susceptibility and the specific heat for n = 2 and n = 3. Our Borel-resummed three-loop result for Rc is significantly more accurate than the previous result obtained from the ε-expansion up to O2.  相似文献

We propose the 1/N expansion method, where N can be identified with 2 due to the isospin SU(2), as a systematic expansion scheme for the relativistic meson-nucleon many-body theory. We derive a general formula for the computation of the effective action in the σω model based on the 1/N expansion, utilizing the functional integral method. In this scheme the leading contribution coincides with the familiar Hartree approximation. The elimination of the Landau ghost from the meson propagators in the subgraphs, which appears to be essential for our formulation, is also established.

As an application we compute the energy density of nuclear matter beyond the Hartree approximation including the next-to-leading order contributions in the 1/N expansion. In this order, one should include the ring energy contribution as a correlation energy addition to the exchange energy contribution. We find that we can describe the nuclear matter saturation properties without drastic changes of the overall physical picture which emerged in the Hartree approximation. The important role of the repulsive contribution due to the vacuum polarization effects in the ring energy is emphasized.  相似文献
