Upper semicontinuity properties of variable sets in optimal control

In existence theorems for optimal solutions in control theory, concepts of upper semicontinuity of variable sets in Euclidean spaces have been used. In the present paper, a scale of concepts is introduced which is intermediate between Kuratovski's upper semicontinuity and Cesari's upper semicontinuity. First, the relationships and properties of the concepts are studied. Then, examples of problems of control with distributed and boundary parameters are given showing the relevance of the same concepts.Communicated by L. Semicontinuity of the Approximate Solution Sets of Multivalued Quasiequilibrium Problems

We consider two kinds of approximate solutions and approximate solution sets to multivalued quasiequilibrium problems. Sufficient conditions for the lower semicontinuity, Hausdorff lower semicontinuity, upper semicontinuity, Hausdorff upper semicontinuity, and closedness of these approximate solution sets are established. Applications in approximate quasivariational inequalities, approximate fixed points, and approximate quasioptimization problems are provided.     

On the Stability of the Solution Sets of General Multivalued Vector Quasiequilibrium Problems

We give sufficient conditions for the semicontinuity of solution sets of general multivalued vector quasiequilibrium problems. All kinds of semicontinuities are considered: lower semicontinuity, upper semicontinuity, Hausdorff upper semicontinuity, and closedness. Moreover, we investigate the weak, middle, and strong solutions of quasiequilibrium problems. Many examples are provided to give more insights and comparisons with recent existing results.     

Semicontinuity of the solution set of parametric multivalued vector quasiequilibrium problems

In this paper we establish sufficient conditions for the solution set of parametric multivalued vector quasiequilibrium problems to be semicontinuous. All kinds of semicontinuity are considered: lower semicontinuity, upper semicontinuity, Hausdorff upper semicontinuity and closedness. Moreover, we investigate both the “weak” and “strong” solutions of quasiequilibrium problems.     

Continuity of the efficient solution mapping for vector optimization problems

This paper aims at investigating the continuity of the efficient solution mapping of perturbed vector optimization problems. First, we introduce the concept of the level mapping. We give sufficient conditions for the upper semicontinuity and the lower semicontinuity of the level mapping. The upper semicontinuity and the lower semicontinuity of the efficient solution mapping are established by using the continuity properties of the level mapping. We establish a corollary about the lower semicontinuity of the minimal point set-valued mapping. Meanwhile, we give some examples to illustrate that the corollary is different from the ones in the literature.     

A sufficient condition for continuity of optimal sets in mathematical programming

This paper develops a sufficient condition for continuity (as opposed to upper semicontinuity) of the optimal set of a mathematical program. Applications to the theory of economic choice are discussed.     

Continuity of lower envelopes

The purpose of the paper is to give a complete characterization of the continuity of lower envelopes in the infinite dimensional spaces. The characterization of upper or lower semicontinuity of envelopes, when stated in the language of multifunctions, has a dual geometric character which depends on the upper or lower semicontinuity of the corresponding multifunction.     

Semicontinuity Results on Parametric Vector Variational Inequalities with Polyhedral Constraint Sets

New results on the lower semicontinuity and upper semicontinuity properties of the Pareto solutions to a parametric vector variational inequality with a polyhedral constraint set are obtained by scalarization approaches.     

Stability of Parametric Quasivariational Inequality of the Minty Type

In this paper, stability of a parametric quasivariational inequality of the Minty type is studied via various sufficient conditions characterizing upper and lower semicontinuity of the solution sets as well as the approximate solution sets. Sufficient conditions ensuring upper semicontinuity of the approximate solution sets of an optimization problem with quasivariational inequality constraints are also presented.     

Stability analysis for vector quasiequilibrium problems

This paper is devoted to the continuity of the solution mapping for vector quasiequilibrium problems under mapping perturbations. We show that the solution mapping is upper semicontinuous and Hausdorff upper semicontinuous. Sufficient conditions for the lower semicontinuity and Hausdorff lower semicontinuity of the solution mapping are established. Finally, we apply our results to traffic network problems as example.     

Upper semicontinuity of pullback attractors for multi-valued random cocycle

In this paper we study the upper semicontinuity of random attractors for multi-valued random cocycle when small random perturbations approach zero or small perturbation for random cocycle is considered. Furthermore, we consider the upper semicontinuity of random attractors for multi-valued random cocycle under the condition which the metric dynamical systems is ergodic.     

Upper and Lower Semicontinuity for Set-Valued Mappings Involving Constraints

In vector optimization, several authors have studied the upper and lower semicontinuity for mappings involving constraints in topological vector spaces partially ordered through a cone with nonempty interior. In this paper, we give conditions about the upper and lower semicontinuity in the case that the ordering cone in the parameter space has possibly empty interior, as it happens in many function spaces and seqence spaces.     

Continuity of the optimal value function in indefinite quadratic programming

This paper characterizes the continuity property of the optimal value function in a general parametric quadratic programming problem with linear constraints. The lower semicontinuity and upper semicontinuity properties of the optimal value function are studied as well.

Upper-semicontinuity of attractors for random lattice systems perturbed by small white noises

In this paper, we first present some conditions for the upper semicontinuity of perturbed random attractors to a limiting random attractor. Then we apply this result to establish the upper semicontinuity of random attractors for the first order stochastic lattice differential equations with random coupled coefficients and multiplicative/additive white noises in the weighted space of infinite sequences as the coefficient of the white noise term tends to zero.     

Image of a parametric optimization problem and continuity of the perturbation function

In this note, we consider the notion of the image of a parametric optimization problem and show that the lower semicontinuity and upper semicontinuity properties of its marginal function can be equivalently expressed as two geometric relations in the image space. These results generalize some existing statements in the literature.     

Upper semicontinuity of set-valued functions

Various types of upper semcontinuity properties for set-valued functions have been used in the past to obtain closure and lower closure theorems in optimal control theory as well as selection theorems and fixed-point theorems in topology. This paper unifies these various concepts by using semiclosure operators, extended topologies, and lattice theoretic operations and obtains general closure theorems. In addition, analytic criteria are given for this generalized upper semicontinuity. In particular, set-valued functions which are maximal in terms of certain properties (e.g., maximal monotone multifunctions) are shown to be necessarily upper semicontinuous.     

Continuity of the solution mappings to parametric generalized strong vector equilibrium problems

In this paper, we establish the upper semicontinuity and lower semicontinuity of solution mappings to a parametric generalized strong vector equilibrium problem with setvalued mappings by using a scalarization method and a density result. The results improve the corresponding ones in the literature. Some examples are given to illustrate our results.     

Non-upper-semicontinuity of algebraic dimension for families of compact complex manifolds

In this note we show that in a certain subfamily of the Kuranishi family of any half Inoue surface the algebraic dimensions of the fibers jump downwards at special points of the parameter space showing that the upper semicontinuity of algebraic dimensions in any sense does not hold in general for families of compact non-Kähler manifolds. In the Kähler case, the upper semicontinuity always holds true in a certain weak sense.     

Semicontinuity and Quasiconvex Functions

Criteria are derived for quasiconvex functions under lower semicontinuity and upper semicontinuity conditions. The results thus obtained generalize earlier results for convex functions. We also give new conditions under which a given function is r-convex in the sense given by Avriel.
