In this paper we provide a generalized version of the Glimm scheme to establish the global existence of weak solutions to the initial-boundary value problem of 2×2 hyperbolic systems of conservation laws with source terms. We extend the methods in [J.B. Goodman, Initial boundary value problem for hyperbolic systems of conservation laws, Ph.D. Dissertation, Stanford University, 1982; J.M. Hong, An extension of Glimm’s method to inhomogeneous strictly hyperbolic systems of conservation laws by “weaker than weak” solutions of the Riemann problem, J. Differential Equations 222 (2006) 515-549] to construct the approximate solutions of Riemann and boundary Riemann problems, which can be adopted as the building block of approximate solutions for our initial-boundary value problem. By extending the results in [J. Glimm, Solutions in the large for nonlinear hyperbolic systems of equations, Comm. Pure Appl. Math. 18 (1965) 697-715] and showing the weak convergence of residuals, we obtain stability and consistency of the scheme.  相似文献

This work investigates the existence of globally Lipschitz continuous solutions to a class of Cauchy problem of quasilinear wave equations. Applying Lax's method and generalized Glimm's method, we construct the approximate solutions of the corresponding perturbed Riemann problem and establish the global existence for the derivatives of solutions. Then, the existence of global Lipschitz continuous solutions can be carried out by showing the weak convergence of residuals for the source term of equation.  相似文献

This work investigates the existence of globally Lipschitz continuous solutions to a class of initial-boundary value problem of quasilinear wave equations. Applying the Lax's method and generalized Glimm's method, we construct the approximate solutions of initial-boundary Riemann problem near the boundary layer and perturbed Riemann problem away from the boundary layer. By showing the weak convergence of residuals for the approximate solutions, we establish the global existence for the derivatives of solutions and obtain the existence of global Lipschitz continuous solutions of the problem.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the large-time behavior of solutions of the Cauchy problem to a one-dimensional Navier-Stokes-Poisson coupled system, modeling the dynamics of a viscous gas in the presence of radiation. When the far field states are suitably given, and the corresponding Riemann problem for the Euler system admits only a contact discontinuity wave solution with the far field states as Riemann initial data. Then, we can define a “viscous contact wave” for such a Navier-Stokes-Poisson coupled system. Based on elementary energy methods and ellipticity of the equation of the radiation flux, we can prove the “viscous contact wave” is stable provided the strength of the contact discontinuity wave and the perturbation of the initial data are suitably small.  相似文献

The paper studies the existence and non-existence of global weak solutions to the Cauchy problem for a class of quasi-linear wave equations with nonlinear damping and source terms. It proves that when α?max{m,p}, where m+1, α+1 and p+1 are, respectively, the growth orders of the nonlinear strain terms, the nonlinear damping term and the source term, under rather mild conditions on initial data, the Cauchy problem admits a global weak solution. Especially in the case of space dimension N=1, the weak solutions are regularized and so generalized and classical solution both prove to be unique. On the other hand, if 0?α<1, and the initial energy is negative, then under certain opposite conditions, any weak solution of the Cauchy problem blows up in finite time. This research explores the Cauchy problem for a class of quasi-linear wave equations with time dependent sources. It can be transformed into the Cauchy problem of hyperbolic integro-differential systems of nonlinear balance laws. We introduce the generalized Glimm scheme in new version and study its stability which is proved by Glimm-type interaction estimates in a dissipativity assumption. The generalized solutions to the perturbed Riemann problems, the building blocks of generalized Glimm scheme, are constructed by Riemann problem method modeled on the source free equations. The global existence for the Lipschitz continuous solutions and weak solutions to the systems is established by the consistency of scheme and the weak convergence of source. Finally, the weak solutions are also the entropy solutions which satisfy the entropy inequality.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the global L solutions for the Cauchy problem of nonsymmetric system (1.1) of Keyfitz-Kranzer type. When n=1, (1.1) is the Aw-Rascle traffic flow model. First, we introduce a new flux approximation to obtain a lower bound ρε,δ?δ>0 for the parabolic system generated by adding “artificial viscosity” to the Aw-Rascle system. Then using the compensated compactness method with the help of L1 estimate of wε,δx(⋅,t) we prove the pointwise convergence of the viscosity solutions under the general conditions on the function P(ρ), which includes prototype function , where γ∈(−1,0)∪(0,∞), A is a constant. Second, by means of BV estimates on the Riemann invariants and the compensated compactness method, we prove the global existence of bounded entropy weak solutions for the Cauchy problem of general nonsymmetric systems (1.1).  相似文献

With the help of the dressing procedure the singular Riemann problem corresponding to the Cauchy problem for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with boundary conditions of finite density type is reduced to a regular Riemann problem. A generalization of the Riemann problem for gas dynamical flows influenced by curved geometry, such as flows in a variable-area duct, is solved. For this generalized Riemann problem the initial data consist of a pair of steady-state solutions separated by a jump discontinuity. The solution of the generalized Riemann problem is used as a basis for a random choice method in which steady-state solutions are used as an Ansatz to approximate the spatial variation of the solution between grid points. For nearly steady flow in a Laval nozzle, where this Ansatz is appropriate, this generalized random choice method gives greatly improved results.  相似文献

The paper studies the blowup of solutions to the initial boundary value problem for the “bad” Boussinesq-type equation uttuxxbuxxxx=σ(u)xx, where b>0 is a real number and σ(s) is a given nonlinear function. By virtue of the energy method and the Fourier transform method, respectively, it proves that under certain assumptions on σ(s) and initial data, the generalized solutions of the above-mentioned problem blow up in finite time. And a few examples are shown, especially for the “bad” Boussinesq equation, two examples of blowup of solutions are obtained numerically.  相似文献

This paper deals with the asymptotic behavior of the life-span of classical solutions to Cauchy problem for inhomogeneous quasilinear strictly hyperbolic systems with weaker decaying initial data. This work is a continuation of our previous work (Kong, J. Differential Equations 188 (2003) 242-271) “Global structure stability of Riemann solutions of quasilinear hyperbolic systems of conservation laws: shocks and contact discontinuities”. In the present paper we prove the global structure instability of the Lax's Riemann solution , containing rarefaction waves, of general n×n quasilinear hyperbolic system of conservation laws. Combining the results in (Kong, 2003), we prove that the Lax's Riemann solution of general n×n quasilinear hyperbolic system of conservation laws is globally structurally stable if and only if it contains only non-degenerate shocks and contact discontinuities, but no rarefaction waves and other weak discontinuities.  相似文献

The generalized method of characteristics is used to obtain rank-2 solutions of the classical equations of hydrodynamics in (\(3+1\)) dimensions describing the motion of a fluid medium in the presence of gravitational and Coriolis forces. We determine the necessary and sufficient conditions which guarantee the existence of solutions expressed in terms of Riemann invariants for an inhomogeneous quasilinear system of partial differential equations. The paper contains a detailed exposition of the theory of simple wave solutions and a presentation of the main tool used to study the Cauchy problem. A systematic use is made of the generalized method of characteristics in order to generate several classes of wave solutions written in terms of Riemann invariants.  相似文献

In this paper we establish sufficient conditions for the solution set of parametric multivalued vector quasiequilibrium problems to be semicontinuous. All kinds of semicontinuity are considered: lower semicontinuity, upper semicontinuity, Hausdorff upper semicontinuity and closedness. In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem of the long-wave-short-wave resonance equations. By making use of a Strichartz-type inequality for the solutions, decomposing suitably the solution semigroup into a decay parts and a more regular parts, and ruling out the “vanishing” and “dichotomy” of the solutions, we prove the existence of the global attractor and the asymptotic smoothing effect of the solutions.  相似文献

This paper provides analytical solutions to the generalized Fisher equation with a class of time varying diffusion coefficients. To accomplish this we use the Painlevé property for partial differential equations as defined by Weiss in 1983 in “The Painlevé property for partial-differential equations”. This was first done for the variable coefficient Fisher’s equation by Ö?ün and Kart in 2007; we build on this work, finding additional solutions with a weaker restriction on the trial solution. We also use the same technique to find solutions to Fisher’s equation with time-dependent coefficients for both diffusion and nonlinear terms. Lastly we compute specific solutions to illustrate their behaviors.  相似文献

An explicit representation is derived for the continuation across an analytic boundary of the solution to a boundary value problem for an analytic elliptic equation of second order in two independent variables. The representation is in terms of Cauchy data on the boundary and the complex Riemann function. This is equivalent to a representation for the solution to Cauchy's problem given by Henrici in 1957. It is confirmed that the method of complex characteristics is satisfactory for locating real singularities in the solution provided that the Riemann function is entire in its four arguments. Applications to Laplace's and Helmholtz's equations are discussed. By inserting known, simple solutions to the latter equation into the representation formula, several nontrivial integral relations involving the Bessel function J0, and a possibly new series expansion for Jμ(x), are found.  相似文献

In this paper, the author proves the global structure stability of the Lax's Riemann solution , containing only shocks and contact discontinuities, of general n×n quasilinear hyperbolic system of conservation laws. More precisely, the author proves the global existence and uniqueness of the piecewise C1 solution u=u(t,x) of a class of generalized Riemann problem, which can be regarded as a perturbation of the corresponding Riemann problem, for the quasilinear hyperbolic system of conservation laws; moreover, this solution has a global structure similar to that of the solution . Combining the results in Kong (Global structure instability of Riemann solutions of quasilinear hyperbolic systems of conservation laws: rarefaction waves, to appear), the author proves that the Lax's Riemann solution of general n×n quasilinear hyperbolic system of conservation laws is globally structurally stable if and only if it contains only non-degenerate shocks and contact discontinuities, but no rarefaction waves and other weak discontinuities.  相似文献

Firstly, the Riemann boundary value problem for a kind of degenerate elliptic system of the first order equations in R 4 is proposed. Then, with the help of the one-to-one correspondence between the theory of Clifford valued generalized regular functions and that of the degenerate elliptic system’s solution, the boundary value problem as stated above is transformed into a boundary value problem related to the generalized regular functions in Clifford analysis. Moreover, the solution of the Riemann boundary value problem for the degenerate elliptic system is explicitly described by using a kind of singular integral operator. Finally, the conditions for the existence of solutions of the oblique derivative problem for another kind of degenerate elliptic system of the first order equations in R 4 are derived.  相似文献

Using the generalized characteristic analysis method, we study the two-dimensional Riemann problem for scalar conservation laws, which is nonconvex along the y direction, and interactions of its elementary waves, give the classification of initial discontinuities and construct all Riemann solutions, which Riemann data are two or three pieces of constants. All kinds of Guckenheimer structure appear in the solutions and the necessary and sufficient condition of appearance of it is given.  相似文献
