Let R be an exchange ring with primitive factors artinian. We prove that there exists a u∈U(R) such that 1R ± u ∈ U(R), if and only if for any a ∈ R, there exists a u ∈ U(R) such that a ± u∈ U(R). Phrthermore, we prove that, for any A ∈ Mn(R)(n ≥ 2), there exists a U ∈ GLn(R) such that A ± U ∈ GLn(R).  相似文献

Let π and π′ be automorphic irreducible cuspidal representations of GLm(QA) and GLm(QA), respectively. Assume that π and π′ are unitary and at least one of them is self-contragredient. In this article we will give an unconditional proof of an orthogonality for π and π′, weighted by the von Mangoldt function Λ(n) and 1−n/x. We then remove the weighting factor 1−n/x and prove the Selberg orthogonality conjecture for automorphic L-functions L(s,π) and L(s,π′), unconditionally for m≤4 and m′≤4, and under the Hypothesis H of Rudnick and Sarnak [20] in other cases. This proof of Selberg's orthogonality removes such an assumption in the computation of superposition distribution of normalized nontrivial zeros of distinct automorphic L-functions by Liu and Ye [12].  相似文献

This paper provides universal upper bounds for the exponent of the kernel and of the cokernel of the classical Boardman homomorphism b n : π n (X)→H n (H;ℤ), from the cohomotopy groups to the ordinary integral cohomology groups of a spectrum X, and of its various generalizations π n (X)→E n (X), F n (X)→(EF) n (X), F n (X)→H n (X;π 0 F) and F n (X)→H n+t (X;π t F) for other cohomology theories E *(−) and F *(−). These upper bounds do not depend on X and are given in terms of the exponents of the stable homotopy groups of spheres and, for the last three homomorphisms, in terms of the order of the Postnikov invariants of the spectrum F.  相似文献

Let π be a cuspidal automorphic representation ofGL 2n . We prove an identity between two spectral distributions onSp 2n andGL 2n respectively. The first is the spherical distribution with respect toSp n×Sp nof the residual Eisenstein series induced from π. The second is the weighted spherical distribution of π with respect toGL n×GL nand a certain degenerate Eisenstein series. A similar identity relates the pair (U 2n ,Sp n) and (GL n/E,GL n/F) whereE/F is the quadratic extension defining the quasi-split unitary groupU 2n . We also have a Whittaker version of these trace identities. First-named author partially supported by NSF grant DMS 0070611. Let X be a smooth complex projective variety with Neron–Severi group isomorphic to ℤ, and D an irreducible divisor with normal crossing singularities. Assume 1<r≤ 3. We prove that if π1(X) doesn't have irreducible PU(r) representations, then π1(X- D) doesn't have irreducible U(r) representations. The proof uses the non-existence of certain stable parabolic bundles. We also obtain a similar result for GL(2) when D is smooth. Received: 20 December 1999 / Revised version: 7 May 2000  相似文献

We prove that the germ expansion of a discrete series representation π on GL n (D) where D is a division algebra over k of index m and the germ expansion of the representation π of GL mn (k) associated to π by the Deligne–Kazhdan–Vigneras correspondence are closely related, and therefore certain coefficients in the germ expansion of a discrete series representation of GL mn (k) can be interpreted (and therefore sometimes calculated) in terms of the dimension of a certain space of (degenerate) Whittaker models on GL n (D). Applications of locally fine property for operators are further developed. LetE andF be Banach spaces andF:U(x 0)⊂EF be C1 nonlinear map, whereU (x 0) is an open set containing pointx 0E. With the locally fine property for Frechet derivativesf′(x) and generalized rank theorem forf′(x), a local conjugacy theorem, i. e. a characteristic condition forf being conjugate tof′(x 0) near x0,is proved. This theorem gives a complete answer to the local conjugacy problem. Consequently, several rank theorems in advanced calculus are established, including a theorem for C1 Fredholm map which has been so far unknown. Also with this property the concept of regular value is extended, which gives rise to a generalized principle for constructing Banach submanifolds.  相似文献

LetX (Δ) be the real toric variety associated to a smooth fan Δ. The main purpose of this article is: (i) to determine the fundamental group and the universal cover ofX (Δ), (ii) to give necessary and sufficient conditions on Δ under which π1(X(Δ)) is abelian, (iii) to give necessary and sufficient conditions on Δ under whichX(Δ) is aspherical, and when Δ is complete, (iv) to give necessary and sufficient conditions forC Δ to be aK (π, 1) space whereC Δ is the complement of a real subspace arrangement associated to Δ.  相似文献

We study a family of complex representations of the group GL n (𝔬), where 𝔬 is the ring of integers of a non-archimedean local field F. These representations occur in the restriction of the Grassmann representation of GL n (F) to its maximal compact subgroup GL n (𝔬). We compute explicitly the transition matrix between a geometric basis of the Hecke algebra associated with the representation and an algebraic basis that consists of its minimal idempotents. The transition matrix involves combinatorial invariants of lattices of submodules of finite 𝔬-modules. The idempotents are p-adic analogs of the multivariable Jacobi polynomials.  相似文献

Let Ω be a compact Hausdorff space, X a Banach space, C(Ω, X) the Banach space of continuous X-valued functions on Ω under the uniform norm, U: C(Ω, X) → Y a bounded linear operator and U #, U # two natural operators associated to U. For each 1 ≤ s < ∞, let the conditions (α) U ∈ Π s (C(Ω, X), Y); (β)U # ∈ Π s (C(Ω), Π s (X, Y)); (γ) U # ε Π s (X, Π s (C(Ω), Y)). A general result, [10, 13], asserts that (α) implies (β) and (γ). In this paper, in case s = 2, we give necessary and sufficient conditions that natural operators on C([0, 1], l p ) with values in l 1 satisfies (α), (β) and (γ), which show that the above implication is the best possible result.  相似文献

Let π be an irreducible unitary cuspidal representation of GLm(AQ) with m ≥ 2, and L(s, Tr) the L-function attached to π. Under the Generalized Riemann Hypothesis for L(s,π), we estimate the normal density of primes in short intervals for the automorphic L-function L(s, π). Our result generalizes the corresponding theorem of Selberg for the Riemann zeta-function.  相似文献

In this paper, we obtain a characterization of the Paley-Wiener space with several variables, which is denoted byB π, p (R n ), 1≤p<∞, i.e., for 1<p<∞,B π, p (R n ) is isomorphic tol p (Z n ), and forp=1,B π, 1 (R n ) is isomorphic to the discrete Hardy space with several variables, which is denoted byH(Z n ). Let π and π' be automorphic irreducible cuspidal representations of GLm(QA) and GLm′ (QA), respectively, and L(s, π×π′) be the Rankin-Selberg L-function attached to π and π'. Without assuming the Generalized Ramanujan Conjecture (GRC), the author gives the generalized prime number theorem for L(s, π × π′) when π =π'. The result generalizes the corresponding result of Liu and Ye in 2007.  相似文献

Let F be a field, let A be a vector space over F, and let GL(F, A) be the group of all automorphisms of the space A. If H is a subgroup of GL(F, A), then we set aug dimF (H) = dimF (AFH)), where ωFH is the augmentation ideal of the group ring FH. The number aug dimF (H) is called the augmentation dimension of the subgroup H. In the present paper, we study locally solvable linear groups with minimality condition for subgroups of infinite augmentation dimension. __________ Translated from Ukrains’kyi Matematychnyi Zhurnal, Vol. 57, No. 11, pp. 1476–1489, November, 2005.  相似文献

Suppose π1(E, F) is the space of all absolutely 1-summing operators between two Banach spacesE andF. We show that ifF has a copy of c0, then π1 (E, F) will have a copy of c0, and under some conditions ifE has a copy of ℓ1 then π1 (E, F) would have a complemented copy of ℓ1.  相似文献

The cotangent bundle ofJ (g, n) is a union of complex analytic subvarieties, V(π), the level sets of the function “singularity pattern” of quadratic differentials. Each V(π) is endowed with a natural affine complex structure and volume element. The latter contracts to a real analytic volume element, Μπ, on the unit hypersurface, V1(π), for the Teichmüller metric. Μπ is invariant under the pure mapping class group, γ(g, n), and a certain class of functions is proved to be Lpπ), 0 <p < 1, over the moduli space V1(π)/γ (g, n). In particular, Μπ(V1(π)/γ(g, n)) < ∞, a statement which generalizes a theorem by H. Masur. Research supported by NSF-MCS-8219148 and NSF-DMS-8521620.  相似文献

The homology of GL n (R) and SL n (R) is studied, where R is a commutative ‘ring with many units’. Our main theorem states that the natural map H 4(GL3(R), k) → H 4(GL4(R), k) is injective, where k is a field with char(k) ≠ 2, 3. For an algebraically closed field F, we prove a better result, namely, is injective. We will prove a similar result replacing GL by SL. This is used to investigate the indecomposable part of the K-group K 4(R).  相似文献

Cayley graphs on a subgroup ofGL(3,p),p>3 a prime, are defined and their properties, particularly their spectra, studied. It is shown that these graphs are connected, vertex-transitive, nonbipartite, and regular, and their degrees are computed. The eigenvalues of the corresponding adjacency matrices depend on the representations of the group of vertices. The “1-dimensional” eigenvalues can be completely described, while a portion of the “higher dimensional” eigenfunctions are discrete analogs of Bessel functions. A particular subset of these graphs is conjectured to be Ramanujan and this is verified for over 2000 graphs. These graphs follow a construction used by Terras on a subgroup ofGL(2,p). This method can be extended further to construct graphs using a subgroup ofGL(n, p) forn≥4. The 1-dimensional eigenvalues in this case can be expressed in terms of the 1-dimensional eigenvalues of graphs fromGL(2,p) andGL(3,p); this part of the spectra alone is sufficient to show that forn≥4, the graphs fromGL(n, p) are not in general Ramanujan.  相似文献
