In the previous papers I and II,we have studied the difference discrete variational principle and the Euler-Lagrange cohomology in the framework of multi-parameter differential approach. We have gotten the difference discrete Euler-Lagrange equations and canonical ones for the difference discrete versions of classical mechanics and field theory as well as the difference discrete versions for the Euler-Lagrange cohomology and applied them to get the necessary and sufficient condition for the symplectic or multisymplectic geometry preserving properties in both the lagrangian and Hamiltonian formalisms. In this paper,we apply the difference discrete variational principle and Euler-Lagrange cohomological approach directly to the symplectic and multisymplectic algorithms. We will show that either Hamiltonian schemes of Lagrangian ones in both the symplectic and multisymplectic algorithms are variational integrators and their difference discrete symplectic structure-preserving properties can always be established not only in the solution space but also in the function space if and only if the related closed Euler-Lagrange cohomological conditions are satisfied.  相似文献

In this second paper of a series of papers,we explore the difference discrete versions for the Euler-Lagrange cohomology and apply them to the symplectic or multisymplectic geometry and their preserving properties in both the Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formalisms for discrete mechanics and field theory in the framework of multiparameter differential approach. In terms of the difference discrete Euler-Lagrange cohomological concepts,we show that the symplectic or multisymplectic geometry and their difference discrete structure-preserving properties can always be established not only in the solution spaces of the discrete Euler-Lagrange or canonical equations erived by the difference discrete variational principle but also in the function space in each case if and only if the relevant closed Euler-Lagrange cohomological conditions are satisfied.  相似文献

We introduce the Euler-Lagrange cohomology to study the symplectic and multisymplectic structures and their preserving properties in finite and infinite dimensional Lagrangian systems respectively. We also explore their certain difference discrete counterparts in the relevant regularly discretized finite and infinite dimensional Lagrangian systems by means of the difference discrete variational principle with the difference being regarded as an entire grometric object and the noncommutative differential calculus on regular lattice. In order to show that in all these cases the symplectic and multisymplectic preserving properties do not necessarily depend on the relevant Euler-Lagrange equations, the Euler-Lagrange cohomological concepts and content in the configuration space are employed.  相似文献

According to the basic idea of classical yin-yang complementarity and modern dual-complementarity, in a simple and unified new way proposed by Luo, the un-conventional Hamilton-type variational principles of holonomic conservative system in analytical mechanics can be established systematically. This unconventional Hamilton-type variational principle can fully characterize the initial-value problem of analytical mechanics, so that it is an important innovation for the Hamilton-type variational principle. In this paper, an important integral relation is given, which can be considered as the expression of the generalized principle of virtual work for analytical mechanics in mechanics. Based on this relation, it is possible not only to obtain the principle of virtual work of holonomic conservative system in analytical mechanics, but also to derive systematically the complementary functionals for three-field and two-field unconventional variational principles, and the functional for the one-field one by the generalized Legendre transformation given in this paper. Further, with this new approach, the intrinsic relationship among various principles can be explained clearly. Meanwhile, the unconventional Hamilton-type variational principles of nonholonomic conservative system in analytical mechanics can also be established systematically in this paper.  相似文献

We propose the difference discrete variational principle in discrete mechanics and symplectic algorithm with variable step-length of time in finite duration based upon a noncommutative differential calculus established in this paper. This approach keeps both symplecticity and energy conservation discretely. We show that there exists the discrete version of the Euler-Lagrange cohomology in these discrete systems. We also discuss the solution existence in finite time-length and its site density in continuous limit, and apply our approach to the pendulum with periodic perturbation. The numerical results are satisfactory.  相似文献

In this paper we study the higher-order differential variational principle and differential equations of motion for mechanical systems in event space. Based on the higher-order d'Alembert principle of the system, the higher-order velocity energy and the higher-order acceleration energy of the system in event space are defined, the higher-order d'Alembert- Lagrange principle of the system in event space is established, and the parametric forms of Euler-Lagrange, Nielsen and Appell for this principle are given. Finally, the higher-order differential equations of motion for holonomic systems in event space are obtained.  相似文献

According to the basic idea of classical yin-yang complementarity and modern dual-complementarity, in a simple and unified way proposed by Luo, some basic principles in the dynamic theory of viscoelastic materials with voids can be estab- lished systematically. In this paper, an important integral relation in terms of con- volutions is given, which can be considered as the generalized principle of virtual work in mechanics. Based on this relation, it is possible not only to obtain the principle of virtual work and the reciprocal theorem, but also to derive systemati- cally the complementary functionals for the eight-field, six-field, four-field simpli- fied Gurtin-type variational principles and the potential energy-functional for the two-field one in the dynamic theory of viscoelastic materials with voids by the generalized Legendre transformations given in this paper. Furthermore, with this approach, the intrinsic relationship among various principles can be explained clearly.  相似文献

A classical field theory for a Schrodinger equation with a non-Hermitian Hamiltonian describing a particle with position-dependent mass has been recently advanced by Nobre and Rego-Monteiro(NR)[Phys.Rev.A 88(2013)032105].This field theory is based on a variational principle involving the wavefunction Ψ(x,t) and an auxiliary fieldΦ{x,t).It is here shown that the relation between the dynamics of the auxiliary field Φ(x,t) and that of the original wavefunction Ψ(x,t) is deeper than suggested by the NR approach.Indeed,we formulate a variational principle for the aforementioned Schrodinger equation which is based solely on the wavefunction Ψ(x,t).A continuity equation for an appropriately defined probability density, and the concomitant preservation of the norm, follows from this variational principle via Noether's theorem. Moreover, the norm-conservation law obtained by NR is reinterpreted as tie preservation of the inner product between pairs of solutions of the variable mass Schrodinger equation.  相似文献

In the context of tensor network states, we for the first time reformulate the corner transfer matrix renormalization group(CTMRG) method into a variational bilevel optimization algorithm. The solution of the optimization problem corresponds to the fixed-point environment pursued in the conventional CTMRG method, from which the partition function of a classical statistical model, represented by an infinite tensor network, can be efficiently evaluated. The validity of this variational idea is dem...  相似文献

Part I of this paper introduced the notion of implicit Lagrangian systems and their geometric structure was explored in the context of Dirac structures. In this part, we develop the variational structure of implicit Lagrangian systems. Specifically, we show that the implicit Euler–Lagrange equations can be formulated using an extended variational principle of Hamilton called the Hamilton–Pontryagin principle. This variational formulation incorporates, in a natural way, the generalized Legendre transformation, which enables one to treat degenerate Lagrangian systems. The definition of this generalized Legendre transformation makes use of natural maps between iterated tangent and cotangent spaces. Then, we develop an extension of the classical Lagrange–d’Alembert principle called the Lagrange–d’Alembert–Pontryagin principle for implicit Lagrangian systems with constraints and external forces. A particularly interesting case is that of nonholonomic mechanical systems that can have both constraints and external forces. In addition, we define a constrained Dirac structure on the constraint momentum space, namely the image of the Legendre transformation (which, in the degenerate case, need not equal the whole cotangent bundle). We construct an implicit constrained Lagrangian system associated with this constrained Dirac structure by making use of an Ehresmann connection. Two examples, namely a vertical rolling disk on a plane and an LC circuit are given to illustrate the results.  相似文献

We describe and study geometric properties of discrete circular and spherical means of directional derivatives of functions, as well as discrete approximations of higher order differential operators. For an arbitrary dimension, we present a general construction for obtaining discrete spherical means of directional derivatives. The construction is based on using Minkowski’s existence theorem and Veronese maps. Approximating the directional derivatives by appropriate finite differences allows one to obtain finite difference operators with good rotation invariance properties. In particular, we use discrete circular and spherical means to derive discrete approximations of various linear and nonlinear first- and second-order differential operators, including discrete Laplacians. A practical potential of our approach is demonstrated by considering applications to nonlinear filtering of digital images and surface curvature estimation.  相似文献

When the dissipative processes are dominant in the system, the assumption of local equilibrium holds good and the space time evolution of irreversible system can be described by the variational principle of GYARMATI. However when imposed changes in the state variables are fast, the system can not be in a state of local equilibrium and to define the nonequilibrium state of the system it is necessary to extend the formalism of classical irreversible thermodynamics. The wave approach of Onsagerian thermodynamics is one such pursuit and is a direct generalization of the original Onsager-Machlup proposition. An important consequence of this theory is that it leads to transport equations with finite propagation velocities, which are referred to as thermodynamical waves. In this note we endeavour to write the appropriate form of GYARMATI'S variational principle for thermodynamical waves.  相似文献
