Using methods from algebraic topology and group cohomology, I pursue Grothendieck's question on equality of geometric and cohomological Brauer groups in the context of complex-analytic spaces. The main result is that equality holds under suitable assumptions on the fundamental group and the Pontrjagin dual of the second homotopy group. I apply this to Lie groups, Hopf manifolds, and complex-analytic surfaces.  相似文献

Working over perfect ground fields of arbitrary characteristic, I classify minimal normal del Pezzo surfaces containing a nonrational singularity. As an application, I determine the structure of 2-dimensional anticanonical models for proper normal algebraic surfaces. The anticanonical ring may be non-finitely generated. However, the anticanonical model is either a proper surface, or a proper surface minus a point. Received: 5 June 2000 / Revised version: 10 November 2000  相似文献

In this note we construct examples of non-projective normal proper algebraic surfaces and discuss the somewhat pathological behaviour of their Neron–Severi group. Our surfaces are birational to the product of a projective line and a curve of higher genus. Received: 29 January 1999  相似文献

We study Brauer–Manin obstructions to the Hasse principle and to weak approximation on algebraic surfaces over number fields. A technique for constructing Azumaya algebra representatives of Brauer group elements is given, and this is applied to the computation of obstructions.  相似文献

In this paper we study the Hodge numbers of a branched double covering of a smooth, complete algebraic threefold. The involution on the double covering gives a splitting of the Hodge groups into symmetric and skew-symmetric parts. Since the symmetric part is naturally isomorphic to the corresponding Hodge group of the base we study only the skew-symmetric parts and prove that in many cases it can be computed explicitly. We construct families of normal surface singularities with the following property: given any fiat projective connected family VB of smooth, irreducible, minimal algebraic surfaces, the general singularity in one of our families cannot occur, analytically, on any algebraic surfaces which is Irrationally equivalent to a surface in VB. In particular this holds for VB consisting of a single rational surface, thus answering negatively to a long standing problem posed by F. Enriques. In order to prove the above mentioned results, wo develop a general, though elementary, method, based on the consideration of suitable correspondences, for comparing a given family of minimal surfaces with a family of surface singularities. Specifically the method in question gives us the possibility of comparing the parameters on which the two families depend, thus leading to the aforementioned results.  相似文献

The main goal of this paper is to give a general algorithm to compute, via computer-algebra systems, an explicit set of generators of the ideals of the projective embeddings of ruled surfaces, i.e. projectivizations of rank two vector bundles over curves, such that the fibers are embedded as smooth rational curves. There are two different applications of our algorithm. Firstly, given a very ample linear system on an abstract ruled surface, our algorithm allows computing the ideal of the embedded surface, all the syzygies, and all the algebraic invariants which are computable from its ideal as, for instance, the k-regularity. Secondly, it is possible to prove the existence of new embeddings of ruled surfaces. The method can be implemented over any computer-algebra system able to deal with commutative algebra and Gröbner-basis computations. An implementation of our algorithms for the computer-algebra system Macaulay2 (cf. [Daniel R. Grayson, Michael E. Stillman, Macaulay 2, a software system for research in algebraic geometry, 1993. Available at http://www.math.uiuc.edu/Macaulay2/]) and explicit examples are enclosed.  相似文献

We shall give a bound for the orders of the torsion groups of minimal algebraic surfaces of general type whose first Chern numbers are twice the Euler characteristics of the structure sheaves minus 1, where the torsion group of a surface is the torsion part of the Picard group. Namely, we shall show that the order is at most 3 if the Euler characteristic is 2, that the order is at most 2 if the Euler characteristic is greater than or equal to 3, and that the order is 1 if the Euler characteristic is greater than or equal to 7.  相似文献

In this paper, we study residues of differential 2-forms on a smooth algebraic surface over an arbitrary field and give several statements about sums of residues. Afterwards, using these results, we construct algebraic-geometric codes which are an extension to surfaces of the well-known differential codes on curves. We also study some properties of these codes and extend to them some known properties for codes on curves.  相似文献

For a real Enriques surface Y we prove that every homology class in H1(Y (R), Z/2) can be represented by a real algebraic curve if and only if all connected components of Y(R) are orientable. Furthermore, we give a characterization of real Enriques surfaces which are Galois-Maximal and/or Z-Galois-Maximal and we determine the Brauer group of any real Enriques surface Y.  相似文献

In this paper, we study non‐symplectic automorphisms of order 3 on algebraic K3 surfaces over ${\bb C}$ which act trivially on the Néron‐Severi lattice. In particular we shall characterize their fixed loci in terms of the invariants of 3‐elementary lattices. © 2011 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim  相似文献

Multivariable Alexander invariants of algebraic links calculated in terms of algebro-geometric invariants (polytopes and ideals of quasiadjunction). The relations with log-canonical divisors, the multiplier ideals and a semicontinuity property of polytopes of quasiadjunction are discussed. Blowups of algebraic surfaces polarized by tensor powers of ample line bundles were studied by Coppens [8]. In this note we complete the picture in the case of abelian surfaces studying blowups of surfaces polarized by primitive line bundles. In this note, we study the action of finite groups of symplectic automorphisms on K3 surfaces which yield quotients birational to generalized Kummer surfaces. For each possible group, we determine the Picard number of the K3 surface admitting such an action and for singular K3 surfaces we show the uniqueness of the associated abelian surface. In this note, we consider all possible extensions G of a non-trivial perfect group H acting faithfully on a K3 surface X. The pair (X,G) is proved to be uniquely determined by G if the transcendental value of G is maximum. In particular, we have , if H is the alternating group A5 and normal in G.  相似文献

We introduce the relative units-Picard complex of an arbitrary morphism of schemes and apply it to the problem of describing the (cohomological) Brauer group of a (fiber) product of schemes in terms of the Brauer groups of the factors. Under appropriate hypotheses, we obtain a five-term exact sequence involving the preceding groups which enables us to solve the indicated problem for, e.g., certain classes of varieties over a field of characteristic zero.  相似文献

The map of the Brauer group of a real algebraic surface to the invariant part of the Brauer group of its complexification is studied. In this study, the real cycle map of the Picard group is used. Translated fromMatematicheskie Zametki, Vol. 67, No. 2, pp. 211–220, February, 2000.  相似文献
