Over an algebraically closed base field k of characteristic 2, the ring RG of invariants is studied, G being the orthogonal group O(n) or the special orthogonal group SO(n) and acting naturally on the coordinate ring R of the m-fold direct sum kn⊕?⊕kn of the standard vector representation. It is proved for O(n) (n?2) and for SO(n) (n?3) that there exist m-linear invariants with m arbitrarily large that are indecomposable (i.e., not expressible as polynomials in invariants of lower degree). In fact, they are explicitly constructed for all possible values of m. Indecomposability of corresponding invariants over immediately follows. The constructions rely on analysing the Pfaffian of the skew-symmetric matrix whose entries above the diagonal are the scalar products of the vector variables.  相似文献

An ideal I of a ring R is said to be strongly irreducible if for ideals J and K of R, the inclusion JKI implies that either JI or KI. The relationship among the families of irreducible ideals, strongly irreducible ideals, and prime ideals of a commutative ring R is considered, and a characterization is given of the Noetherian rings which contain a non-prime strongly irreducible ideal.  相似文献

Let G be a finite linear group containing no transvections. This paper proves that the ring of invariants of G is polynomial if and only if the pointwise stabilizer in G of any subspace is generated by pseudoreflections. Kemper and Malle used the classification of finite irreducible groups generated by pseudoreflections to prove the irreducible case in arbitrary characteristic. We extend their result to the reducible case.  相似文献

Let R be a commutative ring and G a free R-module with finite rank e>0. For any R-submodule EG one may consider the image of the symmetric algebra of E by the natural map to the symmetric algebra of G, and then the graded components En, n≥0, of the image, that we shall call the n-th Rees powers of E (with respect to the embedding EG). In this work we prove some asymptotic properties of the R-modules En, n≥0, which extend well known similar ones for the case of ideals, among them Burch’s inequality for the analytic spread.  相似文献

Let A be a commutative Noetherian ring and be an ideal containing a monic polynomial such that A[T]/I is zero dimensional. Suppose the conormal module I/I 2 is generated by r elements over A[T]/I. Then a set of r generators of can be lifted to a r generating set of I. A part of this work is done at the Abdus Salam, International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy. We prove that a quadratic A[T]A[T]-module Q   with Witt index (Q/TQ)?d(Q/TQ)?d, where d is the dimension of the equicharacteristic regular local ring A, is extended from A. This improves a theorem of the second named author who showed it when A is the local ring at a smooth point of an affine variety over an infinite field. To establish our result, we need to establish a local–global principle (of Quillen) for the Dickson–Siegel–Eichler–Roy (DSER) elementary orthogonal transformations.  相似文献

Let R be a local one-dimensional domain. We investigate when the class semigroup S(R) of R is a Clifford semigroup. We make use of the Archimedean valuation domains which dominate R, as a main tool to study its class semigroup. We prove that if S(R) is Clifford, then every element of the integral closure of R is quadratic. As a consequence, such an R may be dominated by at most two distinct Archimedean valuation domains, and coincides with their intersection. When S(R) is Clifford, we find conditions for S(R) to be a Boolean semigroup. We derive that R is almost perfect with Boolean class semigroup if, and only if R is stable. We also find results on S(R), through examination of [V/P:R/M] and v(M), where V dominates R, and P, M are the respective maximal ideals.  相似文献

Let Clt(A) denote the t-class group of an integral domain A. P. Samuel has established that if A is a Krull domain then the mapping Clt(A)Clt(A?X?), is injective and if A is a regular UFD, then Clt(A)Clt(A?X?), is bijective. Later, L. Claborn extended this result in case A is a regular Noetherian domain. In the first part of this paper we prove that the mapping Clt(A)Clt(A?X?); [I]?[(I.A?X?)t] is an injective homomorphism and in case of an integral domain A such that each υ-invertible υ-ideal of A has υ-finite type, we give an equivalent condition for Clt(A)Clt(A?X?), to be bijective, thus generalizing the result of Claborn. In the second part of this paper, we define the S-class group of an integral domain A: let S be a (not necessarily saturated) multiplicative subset of an integral domain A. Following [11], a nonzero fractional ideal I of A is S-principal if there exist an sS and aI such that sI?aA?I. The S-class group of A, S-Clt(A) is the group of fractional t-invertible t-ideals of A under t-multiplication modulo its subgroup of S-principal t-invertible t-ideals of A. We generalize some known results developed for the classic contexts of Krull and PυMD domain and we investigate the case of isomorphism S-Clt(A)?S-Clt(A?X?).  相似文献

Conjugation covariants of matrices are applied to study the real algebraic variety consisting of complex Hermitian matrices with a bounded number of distinct eigenvalues. A minimal generating system of the vanishing ideal of degenerate three by three Hermitian matrices is given, and the structure of the corresponding coordinate ring as a module over the special unitary group is determined. The method applies also for degenerate real symmetric three by three matrices. For arbitrary n   partial information on the minimal degree component of the vanishing ideal of the variety of n×nn×n Hermitian matrices with a bounded number of eigenvalues is obtained, and some known results on sum of squares presentations of subdiscriminants of real symmetric matrices are extended to the case of complex Hermitian matrices.  相似文献

Let G, H be abelian profinite groups whose orders are coprime and assume that q ranges over the set of integers. The aim of this paper is to establish an isomorphism of functors , where denotes the q-deformed Witt-Burnside ring functor of G introduced in [Y.-T. Oh, q-Deformation of Witt-Burnside rings, Math. Z. 207 (1) (2007) 151-191]. To do this, we first establish an isomorphism of functors , where denotes the q-deformed Burnside ring functor of G which was also introduced in [Y.-T. Oh, q-Deformation of Witt-Burnside rings, Math. Z. 207 (1) (2007) 151-191]. As an application, we derive a pseudo-multiplicative property of the q-Möbius function associated to the lattice of open subgroups of the direct sum of G and H.  相似文献

Inspired by results of Guardo, Van Tuyl and the second author for lines in P3P3, we develop asymptotic upper bounds for the least degree of a homogeneous form vanishing to order at least m on a union of disjoint r  -dimensional planes in PnPn for n?2r+1n?2r+1. These considerations lead to new conjectures that suggest that the well known conjecture of Nagata for points in P2P2 is not an exotic statement but rather a manifestation of a much more general phenomenon which seems to have been overlooked so far.  相似文献

Recent work of Ein–Lazarsfeld–Smith and Hochster–Huneke raised the containment problem of determining which symbolic powers of an ideal are contained in a given ordinary power of the ideal. Bocci–Harbourne defined a quantity called the resurgence to address this problem for homogeneous ideals in polynomial rings, with a focus on zero-dimensional subschemes of projective space. Here we take the first steps toward extending this work to higher dimensional subschemes. We introduce new asymptotic versions of the resurgence and obtain upper and lower bounds on them for ideals II of smooth subschemes, generalizing what is done in Bocci and Harbourne (2010)  [5]. We apply these bounds to ideals of unions of general lines in PNPN. We also pose a Nagata type conjecture for symbolic powers of ideals of lines in P3P3.  相似文献

In this paper the zero-divisor graph Γ(R) of a commutative reduced ring R is studied. We associate the ring properties of R, the graph properties of Γ(R) and the topological properties of . Cycles in Γ(R) are investigated and an algebraic and a topological characterization is given for the graph Γ(R) to be triangulated or hypertriangulated. We show that the clique number of Γ(R), the cellularity of and the Goldie dimension of R coincide. We prove that when R has the annihilator condition and ; Γ(R) is complemented if and only if is compact. In a semiprimitive Gelfand ring, it turns out that the dominating number of Γ(R) is between the density and the weight of . We show that Γ(R) is not triangulated and the set of centers of Γ(R) is a dominating set if and only if the set of isolated points of is dense in .  相似文献

We give a classification of e.a.b. semistar (and star) operations by defining four different (successively smaller) distinguished classes. Then, using a standard notion of equivalence of semistar (and star) operations to partition the collection of all e.a.b. semistar (or star) operations, we show that there is exactly one operation of finite type in each equivalence class and that this operation has a range of nice properties. We give examples to demonstrate that the four classes of e.a.b. semistar (or star) operations we defined can all be distinct. In particular, we solve the open problem of showing that a.b. is really a stronger condition than e.a.b.  相似文献

Abstract

Recall that an integral domain R is said to be a non-D-ring if there exists a non-constant polynomial f (X) in R[X] (called a uv-polynomial) such that f (a) is a unit of R for every a in R. In this note we generalize this notion to commutative rings (that are not necessarily integral domains) as follows: for a positive integer n, we say that R is an n-non-D-ring if there exists a polynomial f of degree n in R[X] such that f (a) is a unit of R for every a in R. We then investigate the properties of this notion in di?erent contexts of commutative rings.  相似文献
