Complete active space (CAS) calculations with 6-311++g(3df,3pd) basis sets were performed for a large number of electronic states of the nitrate free radical (CH3N/CH3CH2N) and their positive and negative ions. All calculated states are valence states, and their characters are discussed in detail. To investigate the Jahn-Teller effect on the CH3N radical, Cs symmetry was used for both CH3N and CH3CH2N in calculations. The results (CASPT2 adiabatic excitation energies and CASSI oscillator strengths) suggest that the calculated transitions of CH3N at 32172 and 32139 cm(-1) are attributed to the 2(3)A' ' --> 1(3)A' ' and 1(3)A' --> 1(3)A' ', respectively, which is in accordance with the A3E --> X3A2 emission spectrum at T0 = 31 817 cm(-1). The calculated transitions of CH3CH2N at 334 nm are attributed to the 1(3)A' ' --> 2(3)A' ' and 1(3)A' ' --> 1(3)A', respectively, which is in accordance with the UV absorption spectrum of a series of 11 bands beginning at 335 nm. The vertical and adiabatic ionization energies were obtained to compare with the PES data. These results are in agreement with previous experimental data, which is discussed in detail.  相似文献

We report the 364-nm photoelectron spectrum of HC(4)N(-). We observe electron photodetachment from the bent X(2)A" state of HC(4)N(-) to both the near-linear X(3)A" and the bent ? (1)A' states of neutral HC(4)N. We observe an extended, unresolved vibrational progression corresponding to X(3)A" ← X(2)A" photodetachment, and we measure the electron affinity (EA) of the X(3)A" state of HC(4)N to be 2.05(8) eV. Photodetachment to the bent ? (1)A' state results in a single intense origin peak at a binding energy of 2.809(4) eV, from which we determine the singlet-triplet splitting (ΔE(ST)) of HC(4)N: 0.76(8) eV. For comparison and to aid in the interpretation of the HC(4)N(-) spectrum, we also report the 364-nm photoelectron spectra of HCCN(-) and DCCN(-). Improved signal-to-noise over the previous HCCN(-) and DCCN(-) photoelectron spectra allows for a more precise determination of the EAs and ΔE(ST)s of HCCN and DCCN. The EAs of HCCN and DCCN are measured to be 2.001(15) eV and 1.998(15) eV, respectively; ΔE(ST)(HCCN) is 0.510(15) eV and ΔE(ST)(DCCN) is 0.508(15) eV. These results are discussed in the context of other organic carbene chains.  相似文献

Complete active space self-consistent field (CASSCF) and multiconfiguration second-order perturbation theory (CASPT2) calculations with an ANO-RCC basis were performed for the 1(2)A', 1(2)A", 2(2)A', and 2(2)A" states of the CH3Br+ ion. The 1(2)A' state is predicted to be the ground state. The 2(2)A' state is predicted to be a bound state. The adiabatic and vertical excitation energies and the relative energies at the molecular geometry were calculated, and the energetic results for 2(2)A' and 2(2)A" are in reasonable agreement with the experimental data. Potential energy curves (PECs) for Br-loss and H-loss dissociations from the four C(s) states were calculated at the CASPT2//CASSCF level and the electronic states of the CH3(+) and CH2Br(+) ions as the dissociation products were determined by checking the relative energies and geometries of the asymptote products along the PECs. In the Br-loss dissociation, the 1(2)A', 1(2)A", and 2(2)A' states correlate with CH3(+) (X1A1') and the 2(2)A" state correlates with CH3(+) (1(3)A"). The energy increases monotonically with the R(C-Br) value along the four Br-loss PECs. In the H-loss dissociation the 1(2)A', 1(2)A", 2(2)A', and 2(2)A" states correlate with the X(1)A(1), 1(3)A", 1(3)A', and 1(1)A" states (1(3)A' lying above 1(1)A") of CH2Br(+), respectively. Along the 2(2)A" H-loss PEC there is an energy barrier and the CASSCF wave functions at large R(C-H) values have shake-up ionization character. Along the 2(2)A' H-loss PEC there are an energy barrier and a minimum. At the end of the present paper we present a comprehensive review on the electronic states and the X-loss and H-loss dissociations of the CH(3)X(+) (X = F, Cl, and Br) ions on the basis of our previous studies and the present study.  相似文献

Using the complete active space self-consistent field (CASSCF) method with 6-311++g(3df,3pd) basis sets, a few electronic states of nitrenes (CH3)3CN and (CH3)2CHN and their positive ions are calculated. All calculated states are valence states, and their characteristics are discussed in detail. In order to investigate the Jahn-Teller effect on (CH3)3CN radical, Cs symmetry was used for (CH3)3CN and (CH3)2CHN in the calculations. The results of our calculations (CASPT2 adiabatic excitation energies and RASSI oscillator strengths) suggest that the calculated transitions of (CH3)3CN at 27,710 cm(-1) and (CH3)2CHN at 28,110 cm(-1) are attributed to 23A' --> 13A', while those of (CH3)3CN at 28,916 cm(-1) and (CH3)2CHN at 29,316 cm(-1) are attributed to 13A' --> 13A'. The vertical and adiabatic ionization energies were obtained to compare with the photoelectron spectroscopic data. These results are in agreement with previous experimental data. Also, we present a comprehensive review on the CAS calculation results for (CH3)nCH(3-n)N (n = 0-3) presented in our previous and present papers.  相似文献

Complete active space self-consistent field (CASSCF) and multiconfiguration second-order perturbation theory (CASPT2) calculations with an atomic natural orbital basis were performed for the 1(2)A', 1(2)A', 2(2)A', 2(2)A', and 3(2)A' (X2E, A2A1, and B2E) states of the CH3F+ ion. The 1(2)A' state is predicted to be the ground state, and the C(s)-state energy levels are different from those of the CH3Cl+ ion. The 2(2)A' (A2A1) state is predicted to be repulsive, and the calculated adiabatic excitation energies for 2(2)A' and 3(2)A' are very close to the experimental value for the B state. The CASPT2//CASSCF potential energy curves (PECs) were calculated for F-loss dissociation from the five C(s) states and H-loss dissociation from the 1(2)A', 1(2)A', and 2(2)A' states. The electronic states of the CH3+ and CH2F+ ions as the dissociation products were carefully determined by checking the energies and geometries of the asymptote products, and appearance potentials for the two ions in different states are predicted. The F-loss PEC calculations for CH3F+ indicate that F-loss dissociation occurs from the 1(2)A', 1(2)A', and 2(2)A' states [all correlating with CH3+(X1A1')], which supports the experimental observations of direct dissociation from the X and A states, and that direct F-loss dissociation can occur from the two Jahn-Teller component states of B2E, 2(2)A' and 3(2)A' [correlating with CH3+(1(3)A') and CH3+(1(3)A'), respectively]. Some aspects of the 3(2)A' Cl-loss PEC of the CH3Cl+ ion are inferred on the basis of the calculation results for CH3F+. The H-loss PEC calculations for CH3F+ indicate that H-loss dissociation occurs from the 1(2)A', 1(2)A', and 2(2)A' states [correlating with CH2F+(1(3)A'), CH2F+(X1A1), and CH2F+(1(1)A'), respectively], which supports the observations of direct dissociation from the X and B states. As the 2(2)A' H-loss PEC of CH3Cl+, the 2(2)A' H-loss PEC of CH3F+ does not lead to H + CH2X+, but the PECs of the two ions represent different types of reactions.  相似文献

High resolution photoelectron spectra of the n-methylvinoxide anion and its deuterated isotopologue are obtained by slow electron velocity-map imaging. Transitions between the X?(1)A' anion ground electronic state and the radical X?(2)A" and A?(2)A' states are observed. The major features in the spectra are attributed to transitions involving the lower energy cis conformers of the anion and neutral, while the higher energy trans conformers contribute only a single small peak. Franck-Condon simulations of the X?(2)A" ← X?(1)A' and A?(2)A' ← X?(1)A' transitions are performed to assign vibrational structure in the spectrum and to aid in identifying peaks in the cis-n-methylvinoxy X? (2)A" band that occur only through vibronic coupling. The experimental electron affinity and A? state term energy are found to be EA = 1.6106 ± 0.0008 eV and T(0) = 1.167 ± 0.002 eV for cis-n-methylvinoxy.  相似文献

Vertical excitation energies in uracil in the gas phase and in water solution are investigated by the equation-of-motion coupled-cluster and multireference configuration interaction methods. Basis set effects are found to be important for converged results. The analysis of electronic wave functions reveals that the lowest singlet states are predominantly of a singly excited character and are therefore well described by single-reference equation-of-motion methods augmented by a perturbative triples correction to account for dynamical correlation. Our best estimates for the vertical excitation energies for the lowest singlet n --> pi* and pi --> pi* are 5.0 +/- 0.1 eV and 5.3 +/- 0.1 eV, respectively. The solvent effects for these states are estimated to be +0.5 eV and +/- 0.1 eV, respectively. We attribute the difference between the computed vertical excitations and the maximum of the experimental absorption to strong vibronic interaction between the lowest A" and A' states leading to intensity borrowing by the forbidden transition.  相似文献

The photoelectron spectra of the structural isomers of the three- and four-carbon enolate anions, n-C3H5O(-), i-C3H5O(-), n-C4H7O(-), s-C4H7O(-), and i-C4H7O(-) have been measured at 355 nm. Both the X(2A' ') ground and A(2A') first excited states of the corresponding radicals were accessed from the X(1A') ground state of the enolate anions. The separation energies of the ground and first excited states (T0) were determined: T0[(E)-n-C3H5O] = 1.19 +/- 0.02 eV, T0[(Z)-n-C3H5O] = 0.99 +/- 0.02 eV, T0[i-C3H5O] = 1.01 +/- 0.02 eV, T0[n-C4H7O] = 1.19 +/- 0.02 eV, T0[(2,3)-s-C4H7O] = 1.25 +/- 0.02 eV, T0[(1,2)-s-C4H7O] = 0.98 +/- 0.02 eV, and T0[i-C4H7O] = 1.36 +/- 0.02 eV. The effects of alkyl substitution on the vibronic structure and energetics previously observed in the vinoxy radical are discussed. The X(1A')-X(2A' ') relative stability is strongly influenced by substitution whereas the X(1A')-A(2A') relative stability remains nearly constant for all of the observed structural isomers. Alkyl substitution at the carbonyl carbon affects vibronic structure more profoundly than the energetics, while the converse is observed upon alkyl substitution at the alpha carbon.  相似文献

A theoretical investigation of the X(2)A" and A(2)A' electronic states of the HO(2) radical is reported. Both electronic states have nonlinear equilibrium geometries and they correlate with a (2)Pi state at linear geometries so that they exhibit the Renner effect. In highly excited bending states, there is tunneling between two equivalent minima (with geometries where the H nucleus is bound to one, or the other, of the two O nuclei), and the two linear geometries H-O-O and O-O-H become accessible to the molecule. Thus, HO(2) affords an example of the so-called double Renner effect. Three-dimensional potential energy surfaces for the X(2)A" and A(2)A' electronic states of HO(2) have been calculated ab initio and the global potential energy surfaces for the states have been constructed. These surfaces have been used, in conjunction with the computer program DR [Odaka et al., J. Mol. Structure 795, 14 (2006); Odaka et al., J. Chem. Phys. 126, 094301 (2007)], for calculating HO(2) rovibronic energies in the "double-Renner"-degenerate electronic states X(2)A" and A(2)A'. The results of the ab initio calculations, the rovibronic energies obtained, and analyses of the wavefunctions for selected states are presented.  相似文献

We studied the 1(2)A' '(X2A' '), 1(2)A' (A2A'), 2(2)A' ' (B2A' '), and 2(2)A' (C2A') states of the C2H3Cl+ ion using the complete active space self-consistent field (CASSCF) and multiconfiguration second-order perturbation theory (CASPT2) methods. For the four ionic states, we calculated the equilibrium geometries, adiabatic (T0) and vertical (Tv) excitation energies, and relative energies (Tv') at the geometry of the molecule at the CASPT2 level and the Cl-loss dissociation potential energy curves (PECs) at the CASPT2//CASSCF level. The computed oscillator strength f value for the X2A' ' <-- A2A' transition is very small, which is in line with the experimental fact that the A state has a long lifetime. The CASPT2 geometry and T0 value for the A2A' state are in good agreement with experiment. The CASPT2 Tv' values for the A2A', B2A' ', and C2A' states are in good agreement with experiment. The Cl-loss PEC calculations predict that the X2A' ', A2A', and C2A' states correlate to C2H3+ (XA1) and the BA' ' state to C2H3+ (1A' ') (the B2A' ' and C2A' PECs cross at R(C-Cl) approximately 2.24 A). Our calculations indicate that at 357 nm the X2A' ' state can undergo a transition to B2A' ' followed by a predissociation of B2A' ' by the repulsive C2A' state (via the B/C crossing), leading to C2H3+ (X1A1), and therefore confirm the experimentally proposed pathway for the photodissociation of X2A' ' at 357 nm. Our CASPT2 D0 calculations support the experimental fact that the X state does not undergo dissociation in the visible spectral region and imply that a direct dissociation of the A state to C2H3+ (X1A1) is energetically feasible.  相似文献

Multireference complete active space self-consistent-field CASSCF(10,12)/ANO and second-order perturbation theory MS-CASPT2 calculations were performed to determine the vertical low-lying singlet and triplet states of aniline. The sequence of the seven lower lying triplet states is T1(1(3)A'), T2(1(3)A' '), T3(2(3)A'), T4(3(3)A'), T5(2(3)A' '), T6(4(3)A'), and T7(3(3)A' '). The 3(3)A', 4(3)A', and 3(3)A' ' states are assigned as 3s, 3py, and 3pz Rydberg states, respectively, while other states correspond to pi <-- pi excitations. Both the T1 and T2 states are found to be below at the lowest-lying singlet S1 (1(1)A' ') state. Geometry, vibrational modes, and electron distribution of the lowest lying T1 state were determined using UB3LYP calculations. The vertical and adiabatic singlet-triplet energy gaps DeltaE(S0-T1) amount to 3.7 and 3.5 +/- 0.2 eV, respectively. In clear contrast with the S0 state, the triplet aniline is no longer aromatic, and its protonation occurs preferentially at the ring meta-carbon site, with a proton affinity PA = 243 +/- 3 kcal/mol.  相似文献

Using a quadrupole mass filter and vacuum-ultraviolet ionization, we measured the time-of-flight spectra of species at mass-to-charge ratios of m/ z = 45-42 from the reaction of N + SiH 4 in crossed molecular beams. Species with m/ z = 44 and 43 correspond to reaction products HSiNH/SiNH 2 and HSiN/HNSi, respectively; species with m/ z = 45 and 42 are assigned to isotopic variants and daughter ions, respectively, of those two reaction products. We measured the photoionization yields and branching ratios for dissociative ionization of reaction products as a function of photoionization energy. The ionization thresholds of products HSiNH/SiNH 2 and HSiN/HNSi were determined to be 6.7 and 9.2 eV, respectively. Furthermore, we calculated the equilibrium structures, electronic energies, and vibrational wavenumbers of various silicon-nitrogen hydrides H x SiNH y ( x + y = 0-3) using quantum-chemical methods. SiNH 2 (X (2)B 2) and HNSi (X (1)Sigma (+)) are more stable than HSiNH (X (2)A') and HSiN (X (1)Sigma (+)) by 0.82 and 2.81 eV, respectively. SiNH 2 (X (2)B 2), HSiNH (X (2)A'), HNSi (X (1)Sigma (+)), and HSiN (X (1)Sigma (+)) have adiabatic ionization energies of 6.81, 8.19, 10.21, and 10.23 eV, respectively. These experimental and calculated results indicate that SiNH 2 (X (2)B 2) and HNSi (X (1)Sigma (+)) are dominant among isomeric products in the reaction of N + SiH 4. This work presents the first observation of products from the reaction of N + SiH 4 in crossed beams and extensive calculations on pertinent silicon-nitrogen hydrides.

Multireference configuration interaction (MRCI) calculations of the lowest singlet X(1A') and triplet ?((3)A') states as well as the first excited singlet ?((1)A') state have been performed for a series of bromocarbenes: CHBr, CFBr, CClBr, CBr(2), and CIBr. The MRCI calculations were performed with correlation consistent basis sets of valence triple-ζ plus polarization quality, employing a full-valence active space of 18 electrons in 12 orbitals (12 and 9, respectively, for CHBr). Results obtained include equilibrium geometries and harmonic vibrational frequencies for each of the electronic states, along with ?((3)A') ← X((1)A') singlet-triplet gaps and ?((1)A') ← X((1)A') transition energies. Comparisons have been made with previous computational and experimental results where available. The MRCI calculations presented in this work provide a comprehensive series of results at a consistent high level of theory for all of the bromocarbenes.  相似文献

The full configuration interaction (FCI) study of the singlets vertical spectrum of the neutral beryllium trimer has been performed using atomic natural orbitals [3s2p1d] basis set. The FCI triangular equilibrium structure of the ground state has been used to calculate the FCI vertical excitation energies up to 4.8 eV. The FCI vertical ionization potential for the same geometry and basis set amounts to 7.6292 eV. The FCI dipole and quadrupole transition moments from the ground state are reported as well. The FCI electric quadrupole moment of the X (3)A(1) (') ground state has been also calculated with the same basis set (Theta(zz)=-2.6461 a.u., Theta(xx)=Theta(yy)=-1/2Theta(zz)). Twelve of the 19 calculated excited singlets are doubly excited states. Most of the states have large multiconfigurational character. These results provide benchmark values for electronic correlation multireference methods. (4ex6MO)CAS-SDCI values for the same energies and properties are also reported.  相似文献

The doublet electronic states of ketene, and ketene-d2, radical cations produced by photoionisation with Helα (58.4 nm) and Hellα (30.4 nm) radiation, were studied by photoelectron spectroscopy. Seven such states were found below 28 eV ionisation energy and were assigned by comparison with the ionisation energies calculated by the correlated PNO-CEPA approach. The agreement is within ≈ 0.3 eV of the experimental data. An analysis of the contributions of reorganisation and correlation effects to the calculated ionisation energies is presented. The vibrational frequencies exciteα in four of the states of ketene-d2 and ketene are presented and discussed in view of the assignments.  相似文献

A theoretical study of the low-lying singlet and triplet states of ClONO is presented. Calculations of excitation energies and oscillator strengths are reported using multireference configuration interaction, MRD-CI, methods with the cc-pVDZ + sp basis set. The calculations predict the dominant transition, 4(1)A' <-- 1(1)A', at 5.70 eV. The transition 2(1)A' <-- 1(1)A', at 4.44 eV, with much lower intensity nicely matches the experimental absorption maximum observed around 290 nm (4.27 eV). The potential energy curves for both states are found to be highly repulsive along the Cl-O coordinate implying that direct and fast dissociation to the Cl + NO2 products will occur. Photodissociation along the N-O coordinate is less likely because of barriers on the order of 0.3 eV for low-lying excited states. A comparison between the calculated electronic energies related to the two dominant excited states of ClONO and BrONO indicates that the transitions lie about 0.6 eV higher if bromine is replaced by chlorine. The stratospheric chemistry implications of ClONO and BrONO are discussed.  相似文献

The singlet ground ((approximate)X(1)Sigma1+) and excited (1Sigma-,1Delta) states of HCP and HPC have been systematically investigated using ab initio molecular electronic structure theory. For the ground state, geometries of the two linear stationary points have been optimized and physical properties have been predicted utilizing restricted self-consistent field theory, coupled cluster theory with single and double excitations (CCSD), CCSD with perturbative triple corrections [CCSD(T)], and CCSD with partial iterative triple excitations (CCSDT-3 and CC3). Physical properties computed for the global minimum ((approximate)X(1)Sigma+HCP) include harmonic vibrational frequencies with the cc-pV5Z CCSD(T) method of omega1=3344 cm(-1), omega2=689 cm(-1), and omega3=1298 cm(-1). Linear HPC, a stationary point of Hessian index 2, is predicted to lie 75.2 kcal mol(-1) above the global minimum HCP. The dissociation energy D0[HCP((approximate)X(1)Sigma+)-->H(2S)+CP(X2Sigma+)] of HCP is predicted to be 119.0 kcal mol(-1), which is very close to the experimental lower limit of 119.1 kcal mol(-1). Eight singlet excited states were examined and their physical properties were determined employing three equation-of-motion coupled cluster methods (EOM-CCSD, EOM-CCSDT-3, and EOM-CC3). Four stationary points were located on the lowest-lying excited state potential energy surface, 1Sigma- -->1A", with excitation energies Te of 101.4 kcal mol(-1) (1A"HCP), 104.6 kcal mol(-1)(1Sigma-HCP), 122.3 kcal mol(-1)(1A" HPC), and 171.6 kcal mol(-1)(1Sigma-HPC) at the cc-pVQZ EOM-CCSDT-3 level of theory. The physical properties of the 1A" state with a predicted bond angle of 129.5 degrees compare well with the experimentally reported first singlet state ((approximate)A1A"). The excitation energy predicted for this excitation is T0=99.4 kcal mol(-1) (34 800 cm(-1),4.31 eV), in essentially perfect agreement with the experimental value of T0=99.3 kcal mol(-1)(34 746 cm(-1),4.308 eV). For the second lowest-lying excited singlet surface, 1Delta-->1A', four stationary points were found with Te values of 111.2 kcal mol(-1) (2(1)A' HCP), 112.4 kcal mol(-1) (1Delta HPC), 125.6 kcal mol(-1)(2(1)A' HCP), and 177.8 kcal mol(-1)(1Delta HPC). The predicted CP bond length and frequencies of the 2(1)A' state with a bond angle of 89.8 degrees (1.707 A, 666 and 979 cm(-1)) compare reasonably well with those for the experimentally reported (approximate)C(1)A' state (1.69 A, 615 and 969 cm(-1)). However, the excitation energy and bond angle do not agree well: theoretical values of 108.7 kcal mol(-1) and 89.8 degrees versus experimental values of 115.1 kcal mol(-1) and 113 degrees. of 115.1 kcal mol(-1) and 113 degrees.  相似文献
