Tilting theory has been a very important tool in the classification of finite dimensional algebras of finite and tame representation type, as well as, in many other branches of mathematics. Happel (1988) and Cline et al. (J Algebra 304:397–409 1986) proved that generalized tilting induces derived equivalences between module categories, and tilting complexes were used by Rickard (J Lond Math Soc 39:436–456, 1989) to develop a general Morita theory of derived categories. On the other hand, functor categories were introduced in representation theory by Auslander (I Commun Algebra 1(3):177–268, 1974), Auslander (1971) and used in his proof of the first Brauer–Thrall conjecture (Auslander 1978) and later on, used systematically in his joint work with I. Reiten on stable equivalence (Auslander and Reiten, Adv Math 12(3):306–366, 1974), Auslander and Reiten (1973) and many other applications. Recently, functor categories were used in Martínez-Villa and Solberg (J Algebra 323(5):1369–1407, 2010) to study the Auslander–Reiten components of finite dimensional algebras. The aim of this paper is to extend tilting theory to arbitrary functor categories, having in mind applications to the functor category Mod (modΛ), with Λ a finite dimensional algebra.  相似文献

In the present paper, we develop geometric analysis techniques on Cayley graphs of finitely generated abelian groups to study the polynomial growth harmonic functions. We provide a geometric analysis proof of the classical Heilbronn theorem (Heilbronn in Proc Camb Philos Soc 45:194–206, 1949) and the recent Nayar theorem (Nayar in Bull Pol Acad Sci Math 57:231–242, 2009) on polynomial growth harmonic functions on lattices $\mathbb Z ^n$ that does not use a representation formula for harmonic functions. In the abelian group case, by Yau’s gradient estimate, we actually give a simplified proof of a general polynomial growth harmonic function theorem of (Alexopoulos in Ann Probab 30:723–801, 2002). We calculate the precise dimension of the space of polynomial growth harmonic functions on finitely generated abelian groups by linear algebra, rather than by Floquet theory Kuchment and Pinchover (Trans Am Math Soc 359:5777–5815, 2007). While the Cayley graph not only depends on the abelian group, but also on the choice of a generating set, we find that this dimension depends only on the group itself. Moreover, we also calculate the dimension of solutions to higher order Laplace operators.  相似文献

A combinatorial characterization of the Veronese variety of all quadrics in PG(n, q) by means of its intersection properties with respect to subspaces is obtained. The result relies on a similar combinatorial result on the Veronesean of all conics in the plane PG(2, q) by Ferri [Atti Accad. Naz. Lincei Rend. 61(6), 603?C610 (1976)], Hirschfeld and Thas [General Galois Geometries. Oxford University Press, New York (1991)], and Thas and Van Maldeghem [European J. Combin. 25(2), 275?C285 (2004)], and a structural characterization of the quadric Veronesean by Thas and Van Maldeghem [Q. J. Math. 55(1), 99?C113 (2004)].  相似文献

We use the Pieri and Giambelli formulas of Buch et al. (Invent Math 178:345–405, 2009; J Reine Angew, 2013) and the calculus of raising operators developed in Buch et al. (A Giambelli formula for isotropic Grassmannians, arXiv:0811.2781, 2008) and Tamvakis (J Reine Angew Math 652, 207–244, 2011) to prove a tableau formula for the eta polynomials of Buch et al. (J Reine Angew, 2013) and the Stanley symmetric functions which correspond to Grassmannian elements of the Weyl group $\widetilde{W}_n$ of type $\text {D}_n$ . We define the skew elements of $\widetilde{W}_n$ and exhibit a bijection between the set of reduced words for any skew $w\in \widetilde{W}_n$ and a set of certain standard typed tableaux on a skew shape $\lambda /\mu $ associated to $w$ .  相似文献

The paper is devoted to the problem of establishing right-convergence of sparse random graphs. This concerns the convergence of the logarithm of number of homomorphisms from graphs or hyper-graphs \(\mathbb{G }_N, N\ge 1\) to some target graph \(W\) . The theory of dense graph convergence, including random dense graphs, is now well understood (Borgs et al. in Ann Math 176:151–219, 2012; Borgs et al. in Adv Math 219:1801–1851, 2008; Chatterjee and Varadhan in Eur J Comb 32:1000–1017, 2011; Lovász and Szegedy in J Comb Theory Ser B 96:933–957, 2006), but its counterpart for sparse random graphs presents some fundamental difficulties. Phrased in the statistical physics terminology, the issue is the existence of the limits of appropriately normalized log-partition functions, also known as free energy limits, for the Gibbs distribution associated with \(W\) . In this paper we prove that the sequence of sparse Erdös-Rényi graphs is right-converging when the tensor product associated with the target graph \(W\) satisfies a certain convexity property. We treat the case of discrete and continuous target graphs \(W\) . The latter case allows us to prove a special case of Talagrand’s recent conjecture [more accurately stated as level III Research Problem 6.7.2 in his recent book (Talagrand in Mean Field Models for Spin Glasses: Volume I: Basic examples. Springer, Berlin, 2010)], concerning the existence of the limit of the measure of a set obtained from \(\mathbb{R }^N\) by intersecting it with linearly in \(N\) many subsets, generated according to some common probability law. Our proof is based on the interpolation technique, introduced first by Guerra and Toninelli (Commun Math Phys 230:71–79, 2002) and developed further in (Abbe and Montanari in On the concentration of the number of solutions of random satisfiability formulas, 2013; Bayati et al. in Ann Probab Conference version in Proceedings of 42nd Ann. Symposium on the Theory of Computing (STOC), 2010; Contucci et al. in Antiferromagnetic Potts model on the Erdös-Rényi random graph, 2011; Franz and Leone in J Stat Phys 111(3/4):535–564, 2003; Franz et al. in J Phys A Math Gen 36:10967–10985, 2003; Montanari in IEEE Trans Inf Theory 51(9):3221–3246, 2005; Panchenko and Talagrand in Probab Theory Relat Fields 130:312–336, 2004). Specifically, Bayati et al. (Ann Probab Conference version in Proceedings of 42nd Ann. Symposium on the Theory of Computing (STOC), 2010) establishes the right-convergence property for Erdös-Rényi graphs for some special cases of \(W\) . In this paper most of the results in Bayati et al. (Ann Probab Conference version in Proceedings of 42nd Ann. Symposium on the Theory of Computing (STOC), 2010) follow as a special case of our main theorem.  相似文献

We present new sufficient conditions for the semilocal convergence of Newton’s method to a locally unique solution of an equation in a Banach space setting. Upper bounds on the limit points of majorizing sequences are also given. Numerical examples are provided, where our new results compare favorably to earlier ones such as Argyros (J Math Anal Appl 298:374–397, 2004), Argyros and Hilout (J Comput Appl Math 234:2993-3006, 2010, 2011), Ortega and Rheinboldt (1970) and Potra and Pták (1984).  相似文献

We provide a Hopf algebra structure on the space of superclass functions on the unipotent upper triangular group of type D over a finite field based on a supercharacter theory constructed by André and Neto in J. Algebra 305, 394–429 (2006) and 322 (2009). Also, we make further comments with respect to types B and C. Type A was explored by M. Aguiar et al. in Adv. Math. 229 (2012); thus this paper is a contribution to understand combinatorially the supercharacter theory of the other classical Lie types.  相似文献

In this paper, two kinds of parametric generalized vector equilibrium problems in normed spaces are studied. The sufficient conditions for the continuity of the solution mappings to the two kinds of parametric generalized vector equilibrium problems are established under suitable conditions. The results presented in this paper extend and improve some main results in Chen and Gong (Pac J Optim 3:511–520, 2010), Chen and Li (Pac J Optim 6:141–152, 2010), Chen et al. We prove a monotonicity formula and an \(\varepsilon \) -regularity theorem for stable solutions to a class of weighted supercritical semilinear elliptic equations. We then use them to study the behavior of finite Morse index solutions and obtain some sharp results, which improve those of Dancer et al. (J Differ Equ 250:3281–3310, 2011) and Du and Guo (Adv Differ Eqns 2013) and completely answer the questions left open there.  相似文献

Second-order elliptic operators with unbounded coefficients of the form ${Au := -{\rm div}(a\nabla u) + F . \nabla u + Vu}$ in ${L^{p}(\mathbb{R}^{N}) (N \in \mathbb{N}, 1 < p < \infty)}$ are considered, which are the same as in recent papers Metafune et?al. (Z Anal Anwendungen 24:497–521, 2005), Arendt et?al. (J Operator Theory 55:185–211, 2006; J Math Anal Appl 338: 505–517, 2008) and Metafune et?al. (Forum Math 22:583–601, 2010). A new criterion for the m-accretivity and m-sectoriality of A in ${L^{p}(\mathbb{R}^{N})}$ is presented via a certain identity that behaves like a sesquilinear form over L p ×?L p'. It partially improves the results in (Metafune et?al. in Z Anal Anwendungen 24:497–521, 2005) and (Metafune et?al. in Forum Math 22:583–601, 2010) with a different approach. The result naturally extends Kato’s criterion in (Kato in Math Stud 55:253–266, 1981) for the nonnegative selfadjointness to the case of p ≠?2. The simplicity is illustrated with the typical example ${Au = -u\hspace{1pt}'' + x^{3}u\hspace{1pt}' + c |x|^{\gamma}u}$ in ${L^p(\mathbb{R})}$ which is dealt with in (Arendt et?al. in J Operator Theory 55:185–211, 2006; Arendt et?al. in J Math Anal Appl 338: 505–517, 2008).  相似文献

We establish a new theorem of existence (and uniqueness) of solutions to the Navier-Stokes initial boundary value problem in exterior domains. No requirement is made on the convergence at infinity of the kinetic field and of the pressure field. These solutions are called non-decaying solutions. The first results on this topic dates back about 40 years ago see the references (Galdi and Rionero in Ann. Mat. Pures Appl. 108:361–366, 1976, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 62:295–301, 1976, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 69:37–52, 1979, Pac. J. Math. 104:77–83, 1980; Knightly in SIAM J. Math. Anal. 3:506–511, 1972). In the articles Galdi and Rionero (Ann. Mat. Pures Appl. 108:361–366, 1976, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 62:295–301, 1976, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 69:37–52, 1979, Pac. J. Math. 104:77–83, 1980) it was introduced the so called weight function method to study the uniqueness of solutions. More recently, the problem has been considered again by several authors (see Galdi et al. in J. Math. Fluid Mech. 14:633–652, 2012, Quad. Mat. 4:27–68, 1999, Nonlinear Anal. 47:4151–4156, 2001; Kato in Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 169:159–175, 2003; Kukavica and Vicol in J. Dyn. Differ. Equ. 20:719–732, 2008; Maremonti in Mat. We provide a new semilocal convergence analysis of the Gauss–Newton method (GNM) for solving nonlinear equation in the Euclidean space. Using a combination of center-Lipschitz, Lipschitz conditions, and our new idea of recurrent functions, we provide under the same or weaker hypotheses than before (Ben-Israel, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 15:243–252, 1966; Chen and Nashed, Numer. Math. 66:235–257, 1993; Deuflhard and Heindl, SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 16:1–10, 1979; Guo, J. Comput. Math. 25:231–242, 2007; Häußler, Numer. The results can be extended in case outer or generalized inverses are used. Numerical examples are also provided to show that our results apply, where others fail (Ben-Israel, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 15:243–252, 1966; Chen and Nashed, Numer. Math. 66:235–257, 1993; Deuflhard and Heindl, SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 16:1–10, 1979; Guo, J. Comput. Math. 25:231–242, 2007; Häußler, Numer. In this note we study the Navier–Stokes initial boundary value problem in exterior domains. We assume that the initial data has just finite Dirichlet norm. We call the solution \(D\) -solution. It is well known that the analogous steady problem is solved in Galdi (An Introduction to the Mathematical Theory of the Navier–Stokes Equations II. Springer, Berlin, 1994), as well as the existence of time periodic solutions in Maremonti et al. (J Math Sci 93(5):719–746, 1999, Zap. Nauchn. Semin. POMI 233:142–182, 1996). So it is natural to inquire about the case of the nonstationary problem.  相似文献

This work is closed to [2] where a dense linear subspace \(\mathbb{E}\) (E) of the space ?(E) of the Silva C functions on E is defined; the dual of \(\mathbb{E}\) (E) is described via the Fourier transform by a Paley-Wiener-Schwartz theorem which is formulated exactly in the same way as in the finite dimensional case. Here we prove existence and approximation result for solutions of linear partial differential difference equations in \(\mathbb{E}\) (E) with constant coefficients. We also obtain a Hahn-Banach type extension theorem for some C functions defined on a closed subspace of a DFN space, which is analogous to a Boland’s result in the holomorphic case [1].  相似文献

We study in detail mirror symmetry for the quartic K3 surface in ${\mathbb{P}^3}$ and the mirror family obtained by the orbifold construction. As explained by Aspinwall and Morrison (Mirror symmetry II, 1997), mirror symmetry for K3 surfaces can be entirely described in terms of Hodge structures. (1) We give an explicit computation of the Hodge structures and period maps for these families of K3 surfaces. (2) We identify a mirror map, i.e. an isomorphism between the complex and symplectic deformation parameters and explicit isomorphisms between the Hodge structures at these points. (3) We show compatibility of our mirror map with the one defined by Morrison (Essays on mirror manifolds, 1992) near the point of maximal unipotent monodromy. Our results rely on earlier work by Narumiyah–Shiga (Proceedings on Moonshine and related topics, 2001), Dolgachev (J. Math. Sci., 1996) and Nagura–Sugiyama (Int. J. Mod. Phys. A, 1995).  相似文献

We consider the problem of collisions of vortex filaments for a model introduced by Klein et al. (J Fluid Mech 288:201–248, 1995) and Zakharov (Sov Phys Usp 31(7):672–674, 1988, Lect. Notes Phys 536:369–385, 1999) to describe the interaction of almost parallel vortex filaments in three-dimensional fluids. Since the results of Crow (AIAA J 8:2172–2179, 1970) examples of collisions are searched as perturbations of antiparallel translating pairs of filaments, with initial perturbations related to the unstable mode of the linearized problem; most results are numerical calculations. In this article, we first consider a related model for the evolution of pairs of filaments, and we display another type of initial perturbation leading to collision in finite time. Moreover, we give numerical evidence that it also leads to collision through the initial model. We finally study the self-similar solutions of the model.  相似文献

Let $G$ be a semi-simple simply connected group over $\mathbb {C}$ . Following Gerasimov et al. (Comm Math Phys 294:97–119, 2010) we use the $q$ -Toda integrable system obtained by quantum group version of the Kostant–Whittaker reduction (cf. Etingof in Am Math Soc Trans Ser 2:9–25, 1999, Sevostyanov in Commun Math Phys 204:1–16, 1999) to define the notion of $q$ -Whittaker functions $\varPsi _{\check{\lambda }}(q,z)$ . This is a family of invariant polynomials on the maximal torus $T\subset G$ (here $z\in T$ ) depending on a dominant weight $\check{\lambda }$ of $G$ whose coefficients are rational functions in a variable $q\in \mathbb {C}^*$ . For a conjecturally the same (but a priori different) definition of the $q$ -Toda system these functions were studied by Ion (Duke Math J 116:1–16, 2003) and by Cherednik (Int Math Res Notices 20:3793–3842, 2009) [we shall denote the $q$ -Whittaker functions from Cherednik (Int Math Res Notices 20:3793–3842, 2009) by $\varPsi '_{\check{\lambda }}(q,z)$ ]. For $G=SL(N)$ these functions were extensively studied in Gerasimov et al. (Comm Math Phys 294:97–119, 2010; Comm Math Phys 294:121–143, 2010; Lett Math Phys 97:1–24, 2011). We show that when $G$ is simply laced, the function $\hat{\varPsi }_{\check{\lambda }}(q,z)=\varPsi _{\check{\lambda }}(q,z)\cdot {\prod \nolimits _{i\in I}\prod \nolimits _{r=1}^{\langle \alpha _i,\check{\uplambda }\rangle }(1-q^r)}$ (here $I$ denotes the set of vertices of the Dynkin diagram of $G$ ) is equal to the character of a certain finite-dimensional $G[[{\mathsf {t}}]]\rtimes \mathbb {C}^*$ -module $D(\check{\lambda })$ (the Demazure module). When $G$ is not simply laced a twisted version of the above statement holds. This result is known for $\varPsi _{\check{\lambda }}$ replaced by $\varPsi '_{\check{\lambda }}$ (cf. Sanderson in J Algebraic Combin 11:269–275, 2000 and Ion in Duke Math J 116:1–16, 2003); however our proofs are algebro-geometric [and rely on our previous work (Braverman, Finkelberg in Semi-infinite Schubert varieties and quantum $K$ -theory of flag manifolds, arXiv/1111.2266, 2011)] and thus they are completely different from Sanderson (J Algebraic Combin 11:269–275, 2000) and Ion (Duke Math J 116:1–16, 2003) [in particular, we give an apparently new algebro-geometric interpretation of the modules $D(\check{\lambda })]$ .  相似文献

Groups that are FC, or more generally satisfy any of the weakenings of the FC-condition considered in de Giovanni (Serdica Math. J. 28:241?C254, 2002) and Robinson et?al. (J. Algebra 326:218?C226, 2011), have local systems consisting of normal finite-by-nilpotent subgroups. Apart from generalizing results from de Giovanni (Serdica Math. J. 28:241?C254, 2002) and Robinson et al. (J. Algebra 326:218?C226, 2011) to the more general context of locally (normal and finite-by-nilpotent) groups, we partially settle an open problem raised in Robinson et?al. (J. Algebra 326:218?C226, 2011) concerning the isomorphism of maximal p-subgroups, but in this more general setting of locally (normal and finite-by-nilpotent) groups.  相似文献
