Charge-transfer excitations highly depend on the electronic coupling between the donor and acceptor groups. Nitrophenolates are simple examples of charge-transfer systems where the degree of coupling differs between ortho, meta and para isomers. Here we report the absorption spectra of the isolated anions in vacuo to avoid the complications of solvent effects. Gas-phase action spectroscopy was done with two different setups, an electrostatic ion storage ring and an accelerator mass spectrometer. The results are interpreted on the basis of CC2 quantum chemical calculations. We identified absorption maxima at 393, 532, and 399 nm for the para, meta, and ortho isomer, respectively, with the charge-transfer transition into the lowest excited singlet state. In the meta isomer, this π-π* transition is strongly redshifted and its oscillator strength reduced, which is related to the pronounced charge-transfer character, as a consequence of the topology of the conjugated π-system. Each isomer's different charge distribution in the ground state leads to a very different solvent shift, which in acetonitrile is bathochromic for the para and ortho, but hypsochromic for the meta isomer.  相似文献

Femtosecond transient absorption and fluorescence upconversion experiments have been performed to investigate the photoinduced dynamics of the meta isomer of the green fluorescent protein chromophore, m-HBDI, and its O-methylated derivative, m-MeOBDI, in various solvent mixtures at neutral, acidic, and basic pH. The para isomer, p-HBDI, and its O- and N-methylated derivatives, p-MeOBDI and p-HBDIMe(+), were also studied for comparison. In all cases, fast quenching of the excited S1 state by internal conversion (IC) to the ground state was observed. In the para compounds, IC, presumably promoted by the internal twisting, arises in <1 ps. A similar process takes place in the meta compounds in nonaqueous solvents but with notably slower kinetics. In aqueous solutions, the meta compounds undergo ultrafast intermolecular excited-state proton transfer that competes with isomerization.  相似文献

The phototransposition (para, meta, ortho) reactions of the arylboronate esters 4-, 3-, and 2-(4',4',5',5'-tetramethyl-1',3',2'-dioxaborolanyl)toluenes (1, 2, and 3, respectively) in both acetonitrile and 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol (TFE) using 254 nm irradiation have been examined. The irradiations resulted in steady-state compositions of para (5%), meta (19%), and ortho (76%) isomers in acetonitrile starting from the ortho isomer and para (12%), meta (54%), and ortho (35%) isomers in TFE starting from the para isomer. Analysis of the (13)C NMR spectrum of the product mixture obtained from the photochemistry of the para isomer selectively deuterated at C3 and C5 (1d(2)()) revealed that the boron-substituted carbon is the active one in the phototransposition reactions in both acetonitrile and TFE. Similar results were observed for irradiations of 1 in cyclohexane. Fluorescence spectra, singlet-state lifetimes, and Stern-Volmer quenching of fluorescence with 2,3-dimethyl-1,3-butadiene indicated that the excited singlet states of these three isomers were spectroscopic minima and that the excited singlet state was the reactive one for 3 in acetonitrile.  相似文献

Dissociative adsorption of doubly substituted benzene molecules leads to formation of benzyne radicals. In this study, co‐adsorbed hydrogen molecules are used in scanning tunneling hydrogen microscopy to enhance the contrast of the meta‐ and the para‐isomers of these radicals on Cu(111) and Au(111). Up to three hydrogen molecules are attached to one radical. One hydrogen molecule reveals the orientation of the carbon ring and its adsorption site, allowing discrimination between the two radicals. Two hydrogen molecules reflect the bond picture of the carbon skeleton and reveals that adsorption on Cu(111) distorts the meta‐ isomer differently from its gas‐phase distortion. Three hydrogen molecules allow us to determine the bond picture of a minor species.  相似文献

Abstract

A comparison of the dilatometrically determined rates of polymerization of pure meta-and pure para-divinylbenzenes confirms the previous observation that the meta isomer polymerizes more rapidly than the para isomer. This difference shows up also in the initiator square root rate dependencies, the gel times, and the conversions at gel point. The effect of added regulator (carbon tetrabromide) on the polymerization of the meta isomer is to decrease the gel time and conversion at gel time.  相似文献

Collision-induced dissociation (CID) mass spectra of anions derived from several hydroxyphenyl carbaldehydes and ketones were recorded and mechanistically rationalized. For example, the spectrum of m/z 121 ion of deprotonated ortho-hydroxybenzaldehyde shows an intense peak at m/z 93 for a loss of carbon monoxide attributable to an ortho-effect mediated by a charge-directed heterolytic fragmentation mechanism. In contrast, the m/z 121 ion derived from meta and para isomers undergoes a charge-remote homolytic cleavage to eliminate an *H and form a distonic anion radical, which eventually loses CO to produce a peak at m/z 92. In fact, for the para isomer, this two-step homolytic mechanism is the most dominant fragmentation pathway. The spectrum of the meta isomer on the other hand, shows two predominant peaks at m/z 92 and 93 representing both homolytic and heterolytic fragmentations, respectively. (18)O-isotope-labeling studies confirmed that the oxygen in the CO molecule that is eliminated from the anion of meta-hydroxybenzaldehyde originates from either the aldehydic or the phenolic group. In contrast, anions of ortho-hydroxybenzaldehyde and 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde, both of which show two consecutive CO eliminations, specifically lose the carbonyl oxygen first, followed by that of the phenolic group. Anions from 2-hydroxyphenyl alkyl ketones lose a ketene by a hydrogen transfer predominantly from the alpha position. Interestingly, a very significant charge-remote 1,4-elimination of a H(2) molecule was observed from the anion derived from 2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde. For this mechanism to operate, a labile hydrogen atom should be available on the hydroxyl group adjacent to the carbaldehyde functionality.  相似文献

The rate of sulfonation of bead copolymers of styrene cross-linked with 8 mole % divinylbenzene (mixed isomers) is remarkably sensitive to the isomeric (para/meta) composition of the mixture of divinylbenzenes. A mild and efficient process has been developed for the one-pot adamantylation of aromatic substrates employing 1-AdaOH, 1-AdaCl, 1-AdaBr, and 1-Br-3,5,7-trimethyladamantane as adamantylating agents, with triflic acid (TfOH) as promoter and n-butylmethylimidazolium triflate [BMIM][OTf] room temperature ionic liquid (IL) as solvent. The influence of reaction temperature, reaction time and the amount of TfOH was gauged in model reactions employing 1-AdaOH, 1-AdaCl and 1-AdaBr with toluene as the substrate. Under optimal conditions, the reactions exhibit high para selectivity with little or no adamantane side-product being formed. The synthetic scope of this transformation was tested for representative alkylbenzenes and haloalkylbenzenes. Comparative reactions carried out in 1,2-dichloroethane (DCE) produce increased amounts of the meta isomer and substantial amounts of adamantane. Substrate selectivities (K(T)/K(B)) were measured in competitive experiments in [BMIM][OTf] and in DCE as solvents. Isomerization tests were performed to shed light on the origin of the meta isomer. A DFT study was also conducted to compare relative stabilities of the isomeric products, to gauge the relative stabilities of the intermediate isomeric benzenium ions of adamantylation and their charge distribution modes, and to explore the intramolecular process for isomerization in the benzenium ion.  相似文献

Recent reports describe the different products resulting from the reaction of C60 with benzyne generated from anthranilic acid derivatives and isoamyl nitrate in the presence and absence of triethylamine. Reinvestigation here via 1H, 13C, HMBC NMR and Mass spectroscopy elucidates that these products are the [6,6] closed C60-fused δ lactones, and not the [5,6] open fulleroids which would result from benzyne addition. Furthermore, theoretical calculations show that the open isomer [5,6] benzyne addition is less stable than the [5,6] closed isomer as an isolable product.  相似文献

Photochemistry of optically pure trans-2,3-diphenyl-1-benzoylcyclopropane has been examined in isotropic solution and within zeolites. Results suggest that it isomerizes by cleavage of either the C1-C2 or C1-C3 bond. From the perspective of chiral induction, photoisomerization of cis-2,3-diphenyl-1-benzoylcyclopropane derivatives with chiral auxiliaries placed at the meta and para positions of the benzoyl group have been examined both in isotropic solution and within zeolites. Whereas in isotropic solution the chiral auxiliaries placed at the meta position exhibit very little influence during the conversion of triplet cis-2,3-diphenyl-1-benzoylcyclopropane derivatives, they have significant influence within zeolites. For example, alpha-methyl benzylamine placed at the meta position of the benzoyl group (via an amide bond) yields the trans isomer with a diastereoselectivity (de) of 71% within NaY zeolite, whereas in solution no de is obtained. The chiral induction process within zeolites depends on the nature of the alkali ion and on the presence of water. Results suggest that the chiral auxiliary is able to control the bond being cleaved (C1-C2 vs. C1-C3 bond) within a zeolite, but it is unable to do so in an isotropic solution.  相似文献

The ortho, meta, and para isomers of hydroxybenzyl alcohol can be unequivocally distinguished by the collision-induced dissociation mass spectra of their anions. The presence of a prominent peak at m/z 121 for an elimination of a dihydrogen molecule renders the ortho-isomer spectrum markedly different from those of its meta and para congeners. Investigations carried out with deuterium-labeled isotopologues of the ortho isomer verified that the labile hydrogen atom on the hydroxyl group and one of the benzylic hydrogen atoms are specifically removed in the formation of the m/z 121 ion. The ortho-isomer spectrum also showed a prominent peak at m/z 93. Experimental data indicated that the m/z 93 product ion originates either from a two-step H2and CO elimination mechanism or from a direct loss of a HCHO molecule from the precursor anion. The intensity ratio of the m/z 93 and 94 peaks in the spectrum recorded from the m/z 124 ion generated from a sample of o-hydroxybenzyl alcohol dissolved in D2O supported the notion that the direct HCHO loss is the more dominant pathway for the generation of the phenolate ion under low activation conditions. In contrast, the two-step mechanism becomes the more dominant pathway under high collisional activation conditions. The spectrum also showed a weak peak at m/z 105 for a water loss. Based on computational data, the m/z 105 ion generated in this way appears to be a composite generated from a common ion-neutral complex intermediate in which a hydroxyl anion is positioned equidistantly between one of the benzylic hydrogens and a nearby hydrogen atom of the benzene ring. Upon activation, the complex dissociates to form either a phenide or a quinone methide anion. The reaction forming a carbon dioxide adduct under ion-mobility conditions was used to support the proposed water-loss mechanism.  相似文献

Photochromic diarylethenes, which bear carboxyl groups at the ortho, meta, or para positions of both terminal phenyl groups, have been synthesized. The diarylethenes adopt linear chain structures as a result of hydrogen bonding in the crystalline phase, and the crystals exhibit photochromic properties. The absorption maximum of the photogenerated closed-ring isomer of the para-substituted derivative shows an 80 nm bathochromic shift in comparison with that of the ortho-substituted derivative. The maximum of the closed-ring isomer of the meta-substituted derivative is located in between those of the para- and ortho-substituted derivatives. The shifts can be attributed to the differences in conformation among the derivatives, arising from the restrictions imposed by the hydrogen-bonded chains.  相似文献

Intramolecular electron-transfer phenomena in the radical anions derived from the partial reduction of diradicals (E,E)-p-divinylbenzene-beta,beta'-ylene bis(4-tetradecachlorotriphenylmethyl) diradical (1) and (E,E)-m-divinylbenzene-beta,beta'-ylene bis(4-tetradecachlorotriphenylmethyl) diradical (2) have been studied by optical and ESR spectroscopy. The synthetic methodology used allows for complete control of the geometry of diradicals 1 and 2, which have para and meta topologies, respectively, as well as of their E/Z isomerism. This fact is used to show the influence of the different topologies on the ease of electron transfer, which is larger for the para than for the meta isomer, in which a small or negligible electronic coupling is observed. A related monoradical compound (E)-bis(pentachlorophenyl)[4-(4-bromophenyl-beta-styryl)-2,3,5,6-tetrachlorophenyl]-methyl radical (3), which has only one such redox site, has also been obtained and studied for comparison purposes.  相似文献

HZSM-5催化甲苯和甲醇烷基化反应机理的密度泛函理论研究   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
对二甲苯(PX)是重要的有机化工原料,主要用于生产对苯二甲酸(PTA)和对苯二甲酸二甲酯(DMT), PTA和 DMT可经缩聚生产化纤、合成树脂和塑料等聚酯产品. PX主要通过甲苯歧化、二甲苯异构化或甲苯与 C9芳烃烷基转移等方式生产.由于三种二甲苯和乙苯的沸点接近,需要经过吸附分离或深冷分离才能得到高纯度的 PX,传统工艺物料循环量大,设备庞大,操作费用高.而通过甲苯和甲醇烷基化反应直接高选择性生成 PX,可大大降低成本,具有非常高的经济效益和研究价值.自1970年代以来,国内外众多科研院所对甲苯和甲醇烷基化催化剂进行了广泛研究,但催化剂选择性和稳定性仍需进一步提高.为了加深对甲苯和甲醇烷基化反应的认识,指导催化剂开发,有必要对甲苯和甲醇烷基化生成二甲苯的反应机理进行深入研究.当前甲苯和甲醇烷基化机理研究主要存在以下问题:(1)计算得到的能量多为电子能,而非自由能;(2)所采用的模型多为团簇模型,使用 ONIOM方法,对长程作用力描述不充分;(3)认为甲苯只有一种吸附状态;(4)没有考虑偕烷基化反应.本文采用周期性模型,通过密度泛函理论研究了 HZSM-5分子筛上甲苯和甲醇烷基化反应机理,通过计算熵得到了反应自由能,并考虑了偕烷基化反应.由于甲基的存在,在甲苯的吸附态中,甲基会伸向孔道的不同方向,因此我们认为甲苯有多种吸附态,而不同的吸附态会生成不同的二甲苯.结果表明,甲苯可以在对位、间位、邻位和偕位上通过协同机理或分步机理发生烷基化反应.在协同机理中,甲苯在对位、间位、邻位和偕位发生烷基化反应的自由能垒分别为167,138,139和183 kJ/mol.在分步机理中,甲醇脱水生成甲氧基的自由能垒为145 kJ/mol,是决速步骤;而甲苯和甲氧基对位、间位、邻位和偕位烷基化的自由能垒分别为127,105,106和114 kJ/mol.两种机理中 PX的生成能垒均比 MX和 OX高,与文献报道的结果不同.文献均认为, PX的生成能垒最低.一方面这可能是由于所采用模型的不同,本文采用周期性模型,能更充分考虑长程作用力的影响;另一方面可能是由于对甲苯吸附态的不同处理,我们认为甲苯有多种吸附态,不同的吸附态会生成不同的二甲苯,而文献均只考虑了一种甲苯吸附态.但是,在实验中, PX选择性最高.这可能是由于:(1) PX在 HZSM-5孔道的扩散速率比 MX和 OX高2–3个数量级;(2)甲苯和甲醇烷基化生成的 MX和OX迅速发生异构化反应生成 PX,异构化反应速率高于甲苯烷基化速率.两种机理中, C8H11+都是重要的中间物种,它可以反馈一个质子给分子筛骨架,生成二甲苯;也可以脱烷基生成甲烷和乙烯等气相产物.研究发现,甲烷的生成是由于 C8H11+物种中的一个 H质子从苯环上的碳原子转移到甲基上的碳原子造成的,计算得到的对位、间位和邻位 C8H11+生成甲烷的能垒分别为136,132和134 kJ/mol.由于十元环孔道的限制, HZSM-5孔道中很难通过甲苯歧化反应生成苯;偕烷基化生成的碳正离子有可能脱烷基生成乙烯和乙烷等产物,进而生成苯.碳正离子脱烷基反应生成了大量气相产物,造成反应液收降低.碳正离子脱烷基反应与甲醇制烯烃过程的烃池机理相一致,因此甲苯和甲醇烷基化反应也遵循烃池机理.  相似文献

Vibrational sum-frequency spectroscopy and surface tensiometry have been used to study the adsorption of m- and p-cyanophenol at the air-water interface. Spectra of the cyano (CN) group under different polarization schemes are utilized to determine its hydrogen bonding environment and orientation. For both isomers, it is found that the cyano group is hydrogen bonded at the interface but that the CN orientation is independent of surface density. The average CN tilt angle (theta(0)), however, is found to differ between the isomers, such that the CN group points down toward the aqueous phase for m-cyanophenol (theta(0) = 96-106 degrees ) but points up toward the vapor phase for the p-cyanophenol (theta(0) = 65-80 degrees ). In addition, this average tilt angle is distributed over a narrow range, sigma(0) < 10 degrees for the meta isomer and sigma(0) < 16 degrees for the para isomer.  相似文献

When treated with nitrogen dioxide in the presence of ozone and a catalytic amount of iron(III) chloride in inert organic solvent at -10 to +5 degrees C, benzenedicarboxylic acid diesters 1, 4, and 6 underwent smooth nitration to give the corresponding mononitro derivatives 2/3, 5, and 7, respectively, in good yield (kyodai nitration). Naphthalenecarboxylic acid esters 8 and 11 and naphthalene-1,8-dicarboxylic acid diester 16 were similarly nitrated in the absence of catalyst to give the expected nitro compounds 9/10, 12-15, and 17-22, respectively. Different from conventional nitration based on the combined use of concentrated nitric and sulfuric acids, no hydrolytic cleavage of the ester function was observed under these conditions. The isomer distribution has been determined for the nitration of naphthalenecarboxylic acid esters 8, 11, and 16, and spectral data were collected for less common nitro derivatives. A unique changeover of the orientation mode observed in the kyodai nitration of diester 16, from the initial exclusive meta to the final meta/para, has been discussed in terms of the competition between the electrophilic substitution process involving the nitronium ion (NO2+) and the addition-elimination sequence involving the nitrogen trioxide radical (*NO3).  相似文献

The ability of travelling wave ion mobility mass spectrometry (TWIM-MS) to resolve cationic meta/para and cis/trans isomers of mono-, di-, tri- and tetra-ruthenated supramolecular porphyrins was investigated. All meta isomers were found to be more compact than the para isomers and therefore mixtures of all isomeric pairs could be properly resolved with baseline or close to baseline peak-to-peak resolution (R(p-p)). Di-substituted cis/trans isomers were found, however, to present very similar drift times and could not be resolved. N(2) and CO(2) were tested as the drift gas, and similar α but considerably better values of R(p) and R(p-p) were always observed for CO(2).  相似文献

Experimental and computational studies on the formation of three gaseous, positively‐charged para‐benzyne analogues in a Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FT‐ICR) mass spectrometer are reported. The structures of the cations were examined by isolating them and allowing them to react with various neutral reagents whose reactions with aromatic carbon‐centered σ‐type mono‐ and biradicals are well understood. Cleavage of two iodine–carbon bonds in N‐deuterated 1,4‐diiodoisoquinolinium cation by collision‐activated dissociation (CAD) produced a long‐lived cation that showed nonradical reactivity, which was unexpected for a para‐benzyne. However, the reactivity closely resembles that of an isomeric enediyne, N‐deuterated 2‐ethynylbenzonitrilium cation. A theoretical study on possible rearrangement reactions occurring during CAD revealed that the cation formed upon the first iodine atom loss undergoes ring‐opening before the second iodine atom loss to form an enediyne instead of a para‐benzyne. Similar results were obtained for the 5,8‐didehydroisoquinolinium cation and the 2,5‐didehydropyridinium cation. The findings for the 5,8‐didehydroisoquinolinium cation are in contradiction with an earlier report on this cation. The cation described in the literature was regenerated by using the literature method and demonstrated to be the isomeric 5,7‐didehydro‐isoquinolinium cation and not the expected 5,8‐isomer.  相似文献

The copolymerization reactivity ratios for styrene/m- and styrene/p-divinylbenzene have been determined at high conversions (<35%) using the integrated form of the copolymerization equation. Values of r1 (s) = 1.11, r2 (m) = 1.00; and r1 (s) = 0.20, r2 (p) = 1.00 were obtained. These values indicate the same relative behavior but are quantitatively different from the differential data. The data confirm that the para isomer is incorporated more rapidly into the growing polymer chain than is the meta isomer.  相似文献

Three regioisomeric bilirubins and biliverdins with propionic acids replaced by benzoic acids were synthesized from the corresponding xanthobilirubic acids by oxidative coupling. The rubins were found to exhibit widely varying polarity, spectroscopic properties, and stereochemistry. The isomer with ortho benzoic acids (1o) was much less polar than either the meta (1m) or para (1p) because 1o (but not 1m and 1p) can adopt a folded conformation with both carboxylic acids intramolecularly hydrogen bonded to the opposing dipyrrinones. The consequences of such conformational differentiation are found in the varying 1H NMR, UV-vis, and circular dichroism spectral properties.  相似文献
