We present the full result for the down squark mass-squared matrix in the complete theory of supersymmetry without R parity where all kinds of R-parity violating terms are admitted without bias using an optimal parametrization. The major result is a new contribution to LR squark mixing, involving both bilinear and trilinear R-parity violating couplings. Among other things, the latter leads to neutron electric dipole moment at one-loop level. Similar mechanisms lead to electron electric dipole moment at the same level. We present here a short report on major features of neutron electric dipole moment from supersymmetry without R parity and give the interesting constraints obtained.  相似文献

Supersymmetric QCD naturally contains CP-violating interactions which can contribute to a neutron electric dipole moment. An analysis of the two-loop graphs results in a non-zero EDM whose magnitude is estimated and found to be compatible with experiment.  相似文献

We analyze the CP-violating electric dipole form factor of the nucleon in the framework of covariant baryon chiral perturbation theory. We give a new upper bound on the vacuum angle, |θ0|?2.5×10−10|θ0|?2.5×1010. The quark mass dependence of the electric dipole moment is discussed and compared to lattice QCD data. We also perform the matching between its representations in the three- and two-flavor theories.  相似文献

We report a new measurement of the neutron electric dipole moment with the PNPI EDM spectrometer using the ultracold neutron source PF2 at the research reactor of the ILL. Its first results can be interpreted as a limit on the neutron electric dipole moment of |d n | < 5.5 × 10?26 e cm (90% confidence level).  相似文献

Precision measurements of particle electric dipole moments (EDMs) provide extremely sensitive means to search for non-standard mechanisms of T (or CP) violation. For the neutron EDM, the upper limit has been reduced by eight orders of magnitude in 50 years thereby excluding several CP violation scenarios. We report here on a new effort aiming at improving the neutron EDM limit by two orders of magnitude, down to a level of 3 × 10−28 e·cm. The two central elements of the approach are the use of the higher densities which will be available at the new dedicated spallation UCN source at the Paul Scherrer Institute, and the optimization of the in-vacuum Ramsey resonance technique, with storage chambers at room temperature, to reach new limits of sensitivity.  相似文献

In the Kobayashi-Maskawa model we compute a new contribution to the neutron electric dipole moment induced byCP violating flavour-changing transitions of the typessd+gluon+γ through heavy quark loops. This contribution, essentially given by the triangle anomaly graph, is by itself gauge invariant. We obtain from this mechanismD n /e=3.10?32 cm, one order of magnitude below our previous estimate from usual penguin diagram contributions.  相似文献

It is shown that a mixing of ordinary quarks and mirror quarks could induce a large electric dipole moment, dn, for the neutron. For an about 1% mixing the prediction is |dn| ≅ 10−25 e cm. Recent results of two experimental groups, one at the Leningrad Nuclear Physics Institute and the other at the Institute Laue-Langevin, Grenoble, indicate that the dipole moment may have such a high value.  相似文献

The electric dipole moment of the neutron will be measured to a precision of 10?25 e-cm in the near future. We explore a new theoretical possibility that P and CP noninvariance leads to a sizable electric dipole moment. We calculate an electric dipole moment of about 10?25 e-cm. In this phenomenological theory, we calculate CP-violating observables in non-leptonic decays from theK 0 ? \(\bar K^0 \) ,Λ 0 ?Λ 0 andK +?K ? systems. In connection with CP noninvariance, the possible observable occurrence of ΔS=2 decays is discussed. We calculate possible branching ratios; in particular that forΞ 0 → π? p can be as high as about 10?6. The possible existence of a weakly interacting, neutral scalar boson, which violates P and CP in the course of its propagation as a virtual particle, is considered.  相似文献

We compute the electric dipole moment of the neutron in the standard KM model, including the meson-baryon intermediate states which dominate the result in the SU(3) × SU(3) chiral limit, and find 1.4×10−31 e cm⩾|Dn|⩾9.9×10−33 e cm.  相似文献

An evaluation of the neutron electric dipole moment (NEDM), using the cloudy bag model (CBM) shows that two CP-violating effects (a quark mass term and a pion-quark interaction) have contributions that are about equal in magnitude, but opposite in sign. This cancellation allows the upper limit on the θ parameter to increase by about an order of magnitude.  相似文献

Arguments in favour of a large value of the matrix element \(\left\langle {N\left| {\bar ss} \right|N} \right\rangle \) based on semiphenomenological data and low-energy theorems are given. As an application of these considerations, we study the contribution of strange quarks to the neutron electric dipole moment.  相似文献
