In this paper, a modern exact method is proposed for solving the problem of free vibrations of a Timoshenko-type viscoelastic beam with discrete rigid bodies, connected to the beam by means of viscoelastic constraints. The phenomenon of free vibrations of this discrete-continuous system is described by a set of three partial and two subsystem ordinary differential equations with generalized boundary conditions and initial conditions. Vector notation of the equations allows one to identify the self-adjoint linear operators of inertia, stiffness and damping. In this case, these operators are not homothetic hence a separation of variables in this set of equations is possible only in a complex Hilbert space. Such separation of variables leads to ordinary differential equations of motion with respect to time as well as to a set of three ordinary differential equations with respect to a spatial variable and two subsystem algebraical equations. Solution of the boundary-value problem was carried out in the classical way, but its results are complex conjugated. Using these results and the fundamental principle, describing the orthogonality property of complex eigenvectors, the problem of free vibrations of the system with arbitrary initial conditions has been finally solved exactly. 相似文献

An approximate method is extended for analyzing the free vibration problem of orthotropic square plate with a square hole. In this paper, a square plate with a square hole is transformed into an equivalent square plate with non-uniform thickness by considering the hole as an extremely thin part of the equivalent plate. Therefore, the dynamic characteristics of a plate with a hole can be obtained by analyzing the equivalent plate. The Green function, which is the discrete solution for the deflection of the equivalent plate, is used to obtain the characteristic equation of the free vibration. The effects of the side to thickness ratio, hole side to plate side ratio and the variation of the thickness on the frequencies are considered. Some numerical analyses are carried out for the simply supported orthotropic square plate with a square hole. The efficiency and accuracy of the numerical solutions by the present method are investigated. 相似文献

Randomness in the material properties is inherent in all engineering materials. Composites exhibit a greater scatter compared to conventional materials because of the larger number of parameters associated with its fabrication and manufacturing. For accurate prediction of its behavior, the composite material properties have been modelled as random variables in the present study. Higher order shear deformation theory including rotatory inertia effects has been employed in developing the system equations and first order perturbation technique has been adopted for the solution. An approach has been presented for obtaining the analytical solution for generalized eigenvalue problem associated with free vibrations. Mean and variance of the natural frequency have been obtained for cross-ply spherical laminates projected in rectangular plan form with different boundary conditions. 相似文献

A new approach using the non-dimensional dynamic influence functions has been developed for free vibration analysis of arbitrarily shaped plates with a mixed boundary condition involving both simply supported edges and clamped ones. Since the proposed method is based on the collocation method using one-dimensional and wave-type functions, no integration procedure is needed on boundary edges of the plate of interest and numerical calculation schemes are relatively concise. In order to settle the incompleteness of the system matrix, which is due to the discarding of a complex natural boundary condition at simply supported edges, an additional simple equation is devised by means of using a geometric approximation on curved edges. Finally, verification examples show that a complete system matrix formed in this way successfully gives accurate eigenvalues compared with FEM (ANSYS) and other methods. 相似文献

A modelling method for the modal analysis of a rotating composite cantilever plate is presented in this paper. A set of linear ordinary differential equations of motion for the plate is derived by using the assumed mode method. Two in-plane stretch variables are employed and approximated to derive the equations of motion. The equations of motion include the coupling terms between the in-plane and the lateral motions as well as the motion-induced stiffness variation terms. Dimensionless parameters are identified and the explicit mass and the stiffness matrices for the modal analysis are obtained with the dimensionless parameters. The effects of the dimensionless angular velocity and the fiber orientation angles of rotating composite cantilever plates on their modal characteristics are investigated. Natural frequency loci veering and crossing along with associated mode shape variations are observed. 相似文献

A finite element analysis for a rotating cantilever beam is presented in this study. Based on a dynamic modelling method using the stretch deformation instead of the conventional axial deformation, three linear partial differential equations are derived from Hamilton's principle. Two of the linear differential equations are coupled through the stretch and chordwise deformations. The other equation is an uncoupled one for the flapwise deformation. From these partial differential equations and the associated boundary conditions, are derived two weak forms: one is for the chordwise motion and the other is for the flapwise motion. The weak forms are spatially discretized with newly defined two-node beam elements. With the discretized equations, the behaviours of the natural frequencies are investigated for the variation of the rotating speed. In addition, the time responses and distributions of the deformations and stresses are computed when the rotating speed is prescribed. The effects of the rotating speed profile on the vibrations of the beam are also investigated. 相似文献

In fluid-structure interaction systems, baffles as a dynamic damping device are being widely used to suppress the fluid sloshing motion. Meanwhile, natural and dynamic behaviors of such systems are significantly influenced by the baffle parameters, such as the baffle number, the installation location, the inner-hole diameter and the liquid fill height. This paper intends to numerically investigate the parametric eigen characteristics, by the coupled structural-acoustic finite element method (FEM), of baffled cylindrical liquid-storage tank. According to the symmetric two-field formulation, a test FEM program is developed, in which the reduced integration for avoiding the shear and membrane locking and the modified shear correction factor as well as degenerated 8- and 6-node shell elements and 3-D trilinear acoustic elements are used. Through the comparison with the available analytic solutions of no-baffled axisymmetric tank, the validity of the test program and theoretical work is verified. Next, with the verified test FEM program, various combinations of major baffle parameters are intensively examined, in order for the parametric baffle effects on the natural frequency of baffled tanks. 相似文献

Free-vibration characteristics of cantilever non-circular curved panels are analyzed by using the differential quadrature method (DQM) in this paper. The equations of motion of a curved panel are based on the Love's hypothesis and are expressed in an orthogonal curvilinear co-ordinate system. By applying the differential quadrature formulation and the proposed modified relationships for specified boundary conditions, the free-vibration equations of motion of the curved panel are transformed to a set of algebraic equations. Natural frequencies of a cantilever flat plate and a circular curved panel are obtained for verifying the applicability of the present approach. Good convergent trend and accuracy are observed. Effects of shallowness, thickness and aspect ratios on the natural frequencies of a cantilever curved panel are also investigated. Furthermore, natural frequencies of parabolic curved panels are obtained. In all cases studied, the efficiency and convenience of the DQM are illustrated. 相似文献

The natural frequencies and mode shapes of a composite rectangular membrane with no exact solutions are found by using an analytical method appropriate for the geometric feature of the title problem membrane presented here. The method has a key feature in which the theoretical development is very simple and only a small amount of numerical calculation is required. Example studies show that the natural frequencies and their associated modes obtained from the method are found to be very accurate compared with the results by the FEM (SYSNOISE) or exact solutions. Furthermore, the natural frequencies converge rapidly and accurately to the exact values or the numerical results obtained from the finite element model using meshes sufficient to yield already converging natural frequencies, even when a small number of series functions are used in the proposed method. 相似文献

In this paper, the non-linear free vibration of a string with large amplitude is considered. The initial tension, lateral vibration amplitude, cross-section diameter and the modulus of elasticity of the string have main effects on its natural frequencies. Increasing the lateral vibration amplitude makes the assumption of constant initial tension invalid. Therefore, it is impossible to use the classical equation of transverse motion assuming a small amplitude. On the other hand, by increasing the string cross-sectional diameter, the bending moment effect will increase dramatically, and it will act as an impressive restoring moment. Considering the effects of the bending moments, the non-linear equation governing the large amplitude transverse vibration of a string is derived. The time-dependent portion of the governing equation has the form of the Duffing equation. Due to the complexity and non-linearity of the derived equation and the fact that there is no established exact solution method, the equation is solved using the perturbation method. The results of the analysis are shown in appropriate graphs, and the natural frequencies of the string due to the non-linear factors are compared with the natural frequencies of the linear vibration of a string without bending moment effects. 相似文献

This paper deals with a group theoretic approach to the finite element analysis of linear free vibrations of shells with dihedral symmetry. Examples of such shell structures are cylindrical shells, conical shells, shells with circumferential stiffeners, corrugated shells, spherical shells, etc. The group theoretic approach is used to exploit the inherent symmetry in the problem. For vibration analysis, the group theoretic results give the correct symmetry-adapted basis for the displacement field. The stiffness matrix K and the mass matrix M are identically block diagonalized in this basis. The generalized linear eigenvalue problem of free vibration gets split into independent subproblems due to this block diagonalization. The Simo element is used in the finite element formulation of the shell equilibrium equations. Numerical results for natural frequencies and natural modes of vibration of several dihedral shell structures are presented. The results are shown to be in very good agreement with those reported in the literature. The computational advantages and physical insights due to the group theoretic approach are also discussed. 相似文献
