We present a new class of reflexive \(\ell ^p\) saturated Banach spaces \(\mathfrak{X }_p\) for \(1<p<\infty \) with rather tight structure. The norms of these spaces are defined with the use of a modification of the standard method yielding hereditarily indecomposable Banach spaces. The space \(\mathfrak{X }_p\) does not embed into a space with an unconditional basis and for any analytic decomposition into two subspaces, it is proved that one of them embeds isomorphically into the \(\ell ^p\) -sum of a sequence of finite dimensional normed spaces. For a tower X1 ⊂ X2 ⊂ ⋯ of locally compact metric spaces, let X∞ = ∪∞1 Xn denote the direct limit space. We show that the hyperspace 2X∞ of nonempty compact subsets of X∞, with the Vietoris topology, is homeomorphic to the direct limit of the tower of hyperspaces 2X1∪2X2∪⋯. Consequently, if each Xn is a generalized Peano continuum, with Xn closed and nowhere dense in Xn+1, then 2X∞ is homeomorphic to the direct limit of Hilbert cubes. 相似文献

The paper establishes, within constructive mathematics, a full and faithful functor M from the category of locally compact metric spaces and continuous functions into the category of formal topologies (or equivalently locales). The functor preserves finite products, and moreover satisfies f?g if, and only if, M(f)?M(g) for continuous . Berestovskii on characterization of similarity homogeneous (nonhomogeneous) Riemannian manifolds, i.e., Riemannian manifolds admitting transitive group of metric similarities other than motions to the case of locally compact similarity homogeneous (nonhomogeneous) spaces with intrinsic metric satisfying the additional assumption that the canonically conformally equivalent homogeneous space is δ-homogeneous or a space of curvature bounded below in the sense of A. We study two metrics, the quasihyperbolic metric and the distance ratio metric of a subdomain $G \subset {\mathbb R}^n$ . In the sequel, we investigate a class of domains, so called $\varphi $ -uniform domains, defined by the property that these two metrics are comparable with respect to a homeomorphism $\varphi $ from $[0,\infty )$ to itself. Finally, we discuss a number of stability properties of $\varphi $ -uniform domains. In particular, we show that the class of $\varphi $ -uniform domains is stable in the sense that removal of a geometric sequence of points from a $\varphi $ -uniform domain yields a $\varphi _1$ -uniform domain. 相似文献
